Today we'll be having a look at the Etrailer replacement spring for 7,000-lb and 12,500-lb ram sleeve lock couplers, part number CA-5196-SPR. Here's what our replacement spring looks like, we'll flip our coupler over here and we'll show you what this is used for. This spring is what pushes open our coupler so it'll lock down onto our ball. What you need to do to get it out, just grab a hold of it, remove it, take your new one, push it in the hole, push back down, and that gives you the spring loaded action you need to hook your coupler up to your ball so you can tow your trailer. The reason you need one of these replacement springs is in case you misalign and try to put your ball on, you might pop the spring out and lose it, overtime these could get damaged too from becoming weak and brittle. It makes it a lot easier to hook your coupler of your trailer up to your ball. I have an older trailer - 1997 Thoroughsport.
This spring works, but is a tiny bit small. I think one more rotation of wire would do the trick.
I need to be mindful were it is, when hitching up to the truck, so it doesn't fall out, and I lose it in the grass/dirt.

The spring was not right for the trailer coupling. All I had to go by was the picture found on your web sight, which I fully realize is not the right way to go about ordering something of this nature. This certainly does not in any way reflect on your company.

It fit and worked but for 70 lb's my 11 year old grandson installed it by himself
