Hello, everybody. This is Jeff a etrailer.com. Today, we'll take a look at the water heater door conversion kit for the Dometic Atwood six-gallon electric and gas water heater. Now, this conversion door kit will fit the Dometic Atwood water heater, part number WH-6GEA, which we do sell separately on our website. And when you're using that heater in place of the original Atwood Suburban water heater, it has a larger cutout so you do need this conversion kit. And basically, since that Atwood Suburban water heater is larger sized, this kit will include these two side brackets that'll help fill in the opening when using the smaller sized Dometic Atwood heater.
So basically, the door will attach to the newer heater and then these side brackets will fill in the opening. These, you can see, are a nice black finish. They are a metal construction and they are also sold in a white finish. We do sell that separately on our website as part number DMC84FR and are listed on this product page as a related product. The door can work fine but unfortunately the one I received wouldn’t accept the hinge assembly on the left side. The rolled metal tube was not formed properly and by the time I was able to get the hinge pin in the tube the hinge pin broke.
Products were excellent, installation was a snap.
These black doors are more flimsy than the white and do not fit flush on the RV without a bit of "shaping". Otherwise they are great.
I like that if I'm unsure about a product the etrailers videos ensure this is what I need

We had to replace our 3 year old water heater but the manufacturer changed the exterior dimensions. Our installer could not find this door conversion kit but etrailer.com had the part in stock.
