Clayton: Hey guys, how's it going Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today we have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. I'll be showing you some features and show you how to install a replacement breakaway system for the BrakeBuddy Classic. Our braking system is going to be one of the main key components to our flat tow setup. We're going to have our base plate, our tow bar, our safety chains, our wiring, and our supplemental braking system. Our supplemental braking system is there in case our vehicle becomes detached from our RV.
It'll pull this pin here and what that does, it applies the brakes to the vehicle to make it come to a safe stop. That's going to keep our vehicle from rolling down the roadway and injuring anybody or crashing.And as far as installation is concerned, this kit is very easy. You only have to run the wires up to your BrakeBuddy. So it's pretty simple, straightforward. You can definitely get it done at home.
Speaking of installation, I'll walk you through how to get it installed now. So to start our installation, we want to figure out where we're going to mount our breakaway switch. I put ours right here on the other side of our wiring bracket. I took those wires, bring them back up through the hole. I followed the frame rail back this way and then came up behind where there's nice gap and you'll be able to see it when we look down and I pulled it up through the firewall.
So I'll go ahead and show you where I pulled those wires up.So as you can see that gray wire comes up through the motor mount and it comes up this way and enters our firewall here. You are going to have to drill a hole in your firewall. You just want to make sure that it's big enough to get our banana plugs through. As you can see, our banana plugs have been pulled through the firewall and they're ready to be connected to our BrakeBuddy. plugging these in is very simple as they are color-coded.
So we're going to go red to red and black to black. We can go ahead and plug in our BrakeBuddy and make sure everything works.Now we can go ahead and test out our BrakeBuddy. I'm going to go ahead and pull our breakaway switch. And as you can see, our arm extends so we know everything's good to go. That's going to do it for a look at and installation of the replacement breakaway system by BrakeBuddy on our 2020 Jeep Wrangler.

Replaces the breakaway system for your Brake Buddy Digital Classic supplemental braking system (39303).Had it installed yesterday. Very well done but came with the flat connector instead of the round 6 pin connector so had to modify to include the battery charger. This company is not part of Blue Ox tow bar manufacturer which is confusing. It all checks out so think it will work good but above issues is why the 3 stars.

Wrong Part
We have had the breakaway system parts for a year and they have performed flawlessly. We test them before all long trips and so far all good.
MEC - 03/11/2022Just wanted to let everyone know how great it is to work with and order parts from Etrailer. I have ordered numerous parts for my jeep wrangler and my F-150. Depending on where I'm going or what I have planned. I may pull either one behind our Winnebago Tour. Olivia and Iva have always been there to answer any question I have.
