Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution Shank for 2" hitches. Now, this shank is designed to slide into your 2" hitch receiver, and it provides the attachment point here for your weight distribution system's head assembly. Now, this one here is designed for use with the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution System. What's nice...
This is a solid steel construction for strength and durability, and it uses a nice powder coat finish on it for corrosion resistance. The weight capacity on this, the maximum gross trailer weight capacity is 15,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight capacity is 1500 pounds. If you notice this one has 11 adjustment holes. They're at 1 1/4" increments center to center between each hole.
This is for attaching the head assembly too. It'll let you level your trailer with your tow vehicle, and it can be used in either the rise position like it is now, or if you flip it this way it can be used in the drop position. Either one of those it is made to where you'll be able to fit it to your application. Now, the drop or rise is always measured from the top of the shank, so if you'd put it in this position it's measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform on the head assembly when it's installed here. When you install your head assembly here, it's going to be measured from here to the top of that ball platform, so in this one, in this position, you're going to have a maximum rise of 13". Then if you put it into the drop position like this, you'll have a maximum drop of 7".
Now, this is made in the USA. It does include the 5/8" diameter pin and clip, which is used to attach this. When you slide this into your hitch receiver it'll go right through the hitch pin hole right here. Now, I do want to give you some measurements on this. The overall length, which is going to be measured from the back here to the front of the shank, is going to be right at 14". Now, the distance from the hitch pin hole right here to the front of the shank, center of the hitch pin hole is going to be right at 11".
To the center of these adjustment holes from the center of the hitch pin hole it's right at 10". And from the center of this hitch pin hole to the back of the shank, you can see is right at nine". Now, if we measure from this hitch pin hole right here to the rear of the shank that's going to measure right at 3" to the center of the hitch pin hole.Another critical measurement will be from the center of this hitch pin hole to the end of this gusset, this large gusset here for extra strength and support, for your clearance, if you measure from here to the center of that hitch pin hole you can see it's going to be right at 4". We mentioned this is an 11 hole weight distribution shank. Total height, if we measure that, it's going to be right at 15", and as we mentioned, if you measure between each of these adjustment holes center to center the measurement between them is 1 1/4". But that should do it for the review on this Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution Shank for 2" hitches.

Just what I needed. Special purpose, no weld solution. Drivers of old or custom trucks read on.
2003 F350 SuperCab Longbed 4x4 with brand new, way heavier leaf springs all 4 corners (some modification required to perches and pins) in 2021, still using factory 2" hitch, getting level was a problem being smaller and higher than today's setups. Shank and upgrade to 2,000 lb spring bars nailed it. Also, trailer coupler has 3 vertical adjustments, so placed coupler at top.
Note that making the new stuff work on old stuff is an expensive headache that leaves brand new, expensive, low demand parts piled up in its wake. Suggest upgrading your hitch or buying pieces a la carte, as 2,000 lb tongue, long shank and 2" receiver has become antiquated.
Worked perfectly. Etrailer os my goto p lace

I bought this in April '22 for our new trailer. The second day of our trip to Alaska, one of the Retaining Keys with the cotter pin fell off. It was while hooking up to our campsite that we saw it was gone and the spring bar bar had been free of mooring. Luckily we had a C Bolt and duck tape to hold the one sway bar without the retaining key and taped up the other to make sure it didn't fall off on the rest of our journey. When we called Blue Ox they sent two day to AK the two packages of the retaining key w/step. These turned out different than the ones that came on the TracPro and are thicker and shorter - I think these were suppose to come with the TracPro WD/Sway and should have been in the package when we got it. There is too much play between the sring bar and the L Bracket with the Retaining key that was in our order. Pictures for reference. If you order the Blue Ox TracPro, call make and sure you get the correct Retaining Keys with it, you should not have to buy them separately.

The difference with and without the Blue Ox is dramatic.
I pull a 25' Airstream with a 2011 Porsche Cayenne with a 3.6 liter 6 cylinder.
The Blue Ox balances the Cayenne to a degree that I didn't think was possible.
This hitch needs to be the first thing you buy when you get an RV.

I was told to purchase Blue Ox WDH from a friend. It seems to be very well built easier to attach and back up with still attached to trailer. Also seems to be smoother/quieter then other brands. It must be because of the load bars shape.

These were easy to install on our 2021 Cherokee Wolf Pup trailer. The sway control is very good and the towing is now a very smooth safe ride. Backing is very easy. The only drawback is we have to raise the trailer tongue and truck pretty high with the jack to get them on easily. Lots of tension on the bars. Safety and smooth towing is why we purchased and for this i would recommend purchasing.

This thing is amazing! I bought this to haul my 24’ car (toy) hauler behind my 03 Suburban which has coil springs instead of leaf springs. This hitch has made a world of difference. I honestly was shocked at the difference it made. It almost feels like I’m not hauling a trailer at all.

Hello, The weight distribution seems to work fine. We took our traveler trailer on 2 trips since purchasing the trailer hitch and all the accessories. The sway is just frightening. We have not had any real wind, this was in May and July of this year. But super scary, and when a tractor trailer passes us, even just one, forget it. We are towing with a big Ford Expition also. I would not recommend this model. It was expensive and we will have to figure out what we are going to replace it with. Gil

Bought this to reduce rear sag in truck and you would think installing is pretty common sense but apparently it isn't. Instructions aren't very clear and since sad didn't go away at all, I'm guessing it isn't installed correctly. Instructions need to be MORE clear than they are otherwise you'll need to pay a professional to install it as I have no idea if it's correct or not.

Works well. It's my first time with a distribution hitch, so I've no basis for comparison. I tow a 7200# 30' trailer with a 2007 F-150 (full-timer). It took a few trips to the scales to get things right, since I'm very close to my weight limits. Product arrived without the receiver (damaged box). Etrailer was very quick to provide replacement.
On assembly, I discovered that it was sent with incorrect mounting plates. Blue Ox expedited a parts kit. Overall, it seems to work well. I still have to be careful with wind, or I get pushed around on the road. It's mostly a non-issue.
I've traveled about 5-6K miles, and there is some noticeable wear, scoring, and rust developing where the torsion bars meet the trailer. These parts should be easily replaceable, as long as they're still manufactured. You may want to consider spares once you confirm that you have the correct bars. The friction points can develop metal splinters.
The pivots started showing wear after a long stretch of bouncy highway in Iowa. It was within the 1st 1000 miles, so I'll count this as break-in. I just readjusted the mounting point on the trailer at an overnight stop. I haven't had to adjust it since. The slop in the bushings makes for a greasy mess.
Wear gloves and put a plastic bag over the receiver when you remove it, or you're going to get greasy. Also, be careful of how low the receiver hangs down. I've caught it twice in uneven parking lots. I'm leaving it long, since it helps protect the tongue jack.
It meets expectation. Etrailer and Blue Ox provided excellent customer service. I still took one star, since I was on a deadline with work, and my plans got pushed back two weeks because of this. It shouldn't have happened in the first place, but the customer service from both parties was fantastic.

No problems with this product. Little or no sway evident. A little noisy at times but I understand what’s happening.

I received the hitch and the box was falling apart! Obviously the box did not hold up due to the weight of the product during shipment. I will inventory all pieces to make sure everything is still there when I go to open the box.

I really wanted to like this weight distribution hitch. I did so much research and settled on the Blue Ox TrackPro to replace my Fastway hitch, which wasn't rated for the larger camper I'd just purchased. A year later, I wish I'd chosen a different hitch. Out of the box, one of the offset L bracket mounting plates was improperly threaded from manufacturing and would not accept the flange bolts. I used a tap set to re-tap the hole, which worked, but the bolts then fit sloppily, so etrailer was kind enough to have a new mounting plate shipped. That was a minor inconvenience, but it did affect the installation time, and my next trip. It's towed ok for this past year in terms of weight distribution and sway control, but I have three significant problems with this hitch. First, the mounting plates will not stay positioned at a 90 degree angle to the trailer frame, which puts the L brackets at a sharp angle, which means the spring bars cannot move flat across the L brackets as they're designed to do, reducing the friction needed for sway control. Second, the flange bolts are not held properly by the mounting brackets--even with regular checking and re-torqueing, the L brackets wiggle. Third, the L brackets must be made from a very soft material, as there are deep gouges worn in both. I don't mean scuffs, scratches, or wear that you would expect--I mean deep, deep gouges. This is after only one camping season (7 trips, roughly 3000 towing miles). For comparison's sake, the L brackets from my previous Fastway hitch have approximately ten percent of the wear, after four camping seasons, that these Blue Ok L brackets have after one season. I contacted Blue Ox about this, and provided pictures, and was told that this met their standard of normal performance, and that I should expect to replace these brackets regularly. Though price wasn't a big factor, the TrackPro was cheaper than some others that I reviewed at the time. I wish I'd spent more and gone with a better hitch.

Towing a single axle 6x12 3500# Enclosed cargo trailer with a Jeep UJK. This unit has worked flawlessly. Great stability even with Arizona cross winds. Can recommend it. Warning, this is one very heavy piece of kit. It is solid.

I was very pleased with the BLU87FR weight distribution hitch. Total set up of hitch and then pairing to tow vehicle took about 1.5 hours. Hitch did what it was designed to do keeping the trailer and tow vehicle level for the entire trip.

Do your business with etrailer!! I was missing parts to my order as the shipping box developed a large tear in the side and bottom during postal shipment.
I spoke or corresponded with 4 different customer service reps at the US based etrailer call center. Each person treated my issue with quickness, treated me with kindness, and solved my issues without ANY pushback aka "it's my fault..."
