Video Transcript for Wesbar Wiring - Trailer Connectors - W787268 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number W787268. This is the West Bar Four Pull Flat Connector with a jacketed cable. For your trailer end, it's going to measure 8 feet in length. See here on this end, we have our four wires exposed. Our yellow wire is going to be for our left turn and stop lights. The green wire is going to be for our right turn and stop lights.

The brown wire is going to be for our tail license side marker and clearance lights, and the white wire is going to be our ground wire. Here on this end we have the four way flat connector that's going to provide a male plug for your trailer. The jacketed cable protects the wire against the elements, so it's going to really prevent some different kinds of forms of damage that typically happens to exposed wires, and on this end, we do have the color-coded stripped wires. It's going to ensure a nice, simple, installation. The outer diameter of the cable was measured with our measuring calipers. That's going to measure .40 inches, and once you have your connection, you have 8 feet of cable to work with.

That's going to do it for today's review of part number W787268. This is the West Bar Four Pull Flat Connector. .

I wanted a cable like this one but could not find one at any of the local auto parts stores or on Amazon. I have used etrailer before because of the specialty trailer wiring products so ordered again. Great price, was shipped by priority mail. This cable is best because of the molded cable and plug, makes for a neat installation without having a bunch of individual wires as most trailer wiring kits have.

Perfect, ordered another one for a different trailer.

This is the 2nd one of these I have purchased. They are a good product (therefore the 2nd purchase) but have a few areas that could be improved. 1) In cold northern winters (MN -10 F), the cable gets very stiff, because of the lack of flex, my trailer connection pulled out when turning, dragged on the ground and ground down the plug. 2) the connection where the cable jacket meets the plug separated (again, due to cold weather?). Even though I would prefer a more temperature-forgiving flexible cable, I believe this design is better than the other 4-flat trailer-end wiring harnesses currently available. I also purchased a Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector w LED Test Lights - Trailer End to as a quick fix to this cable to temporarily fix my trailer wiring until permanent repairs can be done.

This connector is exactly what I needed to rewire my 16' foot hydraulic brake trailer. The 4-pole connector is molded into the wiring jacket. Quality copper wire with thick rubber jacket for extra protection. I am going to run this to a connector box and then run new jacketed wire to lights. I am very pleased with this cable.

- W787268
by:

A quality plug. Jacketed cable a big improvement over having the 4 wires exposed. 8 feet of cable is plenty to attach under the trailer.

- W787268

8 feet of quality product. Thick gauge wiring and a stout connector.

Good heavy cable and plug. Haven't even installed the cord, as even out of the box, the cable jacket itself is pulling out of the plug. the cable sheath ends right about at the back of the plug, Other reviewers have complained about the same thing, sadly. I tried putting a bead of hot glue and/or epoxy around joint, but it didn't stick to the rubber. Had they molded the plug into the jacket of the cord with a little better strain relief, it would be an awesome product. Very hard to find a heavy duty flat-4, without exposed wires like this one, but they missed the point without having a molded in strain relief due to the weight of the cord/plug. I guess I will just splice on a new cheapy plug from the autoparts store every few years until I find something better.

Used this harness at the rear of my car hauler to disconnect lights when the ramps are moved in for smaller vehicles ( lights, back up lights, and plate, are mounted on ramps for safety and protection. This harness is 14 gauge wire.

I was tired of chasing electrical problems on my small utility trailer every time I wanted to use it. Some people run around small towns with trailer lights that do not work. I am not one of them. I used this molded lead and a previously purchased junction box (Trailer Wiring Junction Box Item # 38656) to resolve my problem. Ordering, service and shipping were fast and easy.

The connector was ordered online, arrived in a timely manner, and the product works great. Will definitely buy more parts again when needed

It works just the way it is supposed to.

WOW this one of the best things I have done for my trailer all the 4 wire connectors I have gotten wimpy this with the jacket on the wires I think will last for Years . Very happy with the cost and shipping I will always go to e-trailer right away.

I have not installed the wiring harness but the quality is obviously very high. The items I ordered were delivered as promised and in great condition. I am planning to replace the original wiring on my snowmobile trailer with this product.

- W787268
by:

Good quality product. Nice, thick protective sheathing/jacket & the molded connector is easy to grip. The only complaint is that the price seems quite high considering that other typical unsheathed flat-4 pigtails are less than 1/3 the cost of this one

I have used errailer at different times. Each time their products have been the absolute best. Their phone clerks are knowledgeable of product and service. Shipment time has always been extreamly prompt, sometimes as little as 2 days, retailer is unaware that I grew up in a fleet service shop, I owned and operated my own for 20plus years. I also have a [retail] store that uses their service, a simple ITS THE BEST is all I should say!

- W787268
by:

The heavy duty nature is excellent. the plug is easy to grip and extends out past the end of the spring loaded cover on my Ram truck. The flat ribbon type get pinched in the cover and the wires always break eventually. Trailers that get used every day have always had problems.

The product was delivered on schedule and is exactly as described. The connector is high quality and connected to my vehicles connector nice and secure. There were no instructions included but the website has a couple videos explaining which wires control the signals, brakes, and side markers. A perfect replacement for the old worn out cable on my Bass Tracker trailer.

Excellent product. Wire colors are consistent with standard practice. Wire gauges are correct. Nice, heavy-duty exterior insulation with no shrinkage outside for a year.

Very well made trailer plug. No loose wires & very resistant to chaffing. If you use your trailer regularly or loan it to friends who haven't got a clue, you need to outfit it with the best.

Used this item to replace a piece that was scrapped up and torn from falling out of the plug and dragging along the road. This cable was better quality than what was originally on the trailer. Timely delivery of exactly what I ordered was excellent.

  • Wesbar 4 Pole Flat Connector Damage Repair or Replace for Trailer
I would recommend replacing the entire cable harness to the weather proof connection. Wesbar 4-Pole Flat Connector w/ Jacketed Cable # W787268 is an 8' cable but we do offer a 14' option # W787274 if you need the additional length. In my opinion it is never a good idea to try and replace a connection end. They are almost never weather tight and will sometimes come apart when in use.

  • Connectors for Trailer Wiring
I'm assuming you're speaking of Quick Splice connectors like part # SWC502905-1, correct? Making wiring splices using this type of connector is acceptable in an interior application, but I wouldn't recommend using them where the wiring is exposed in any way to the elements. If the connection will be exposed, I recommend soldering the connection and protecting it with heat shrink tubing like part # DW05451.
