I completely rewired my boat trailer after patching it for several years because mice and chipmunks were eating the insulation. I installed the product in aluminum flexible metal conduit inside the trailer tube frame. So far so good. The little critters have not been able to get to the wire insulation to chew on it. The plug is well made and seems durable. 647809

Being a new boat owner I was quickly overwhelmed by what I didn't know. Re-wiring, re-lighting my trailer was my first project. etrailer has a wide range of products, but most important to me, was their added product information and instructional information which helped me make the right selections to get this done. Add to that is their very competitive prices. etrailer will be my go to source for my future trailer needs. 313876

I purchased this and several other products from etrailer.com to wire my 2020 Jeep Gladiator. I did cover this with aftermarket braided line covers. It was long enough to connect to both rear harnesses. I purchased this or a similar product from etrailer in the past and always get a quality product at a reasonable price. 817863

As good as the day I bought it ... since it is still in the original packaging. Purchased it for my boat trailer, project #34 on my list of things to do. Still in the 20's. However, quality, length, materials were exactly as ordered. Will follow up when installed - don't hold your breath! 669897

I will never understand that if I am purchasing a 5 pole harness in a 40' length, WHY would they only give me a 5' lead for the back up wire when I want the lights at the back of my trailer? 658496

The four prong connector received was to replace a four prong connector which had brown split from one terminal and white split on the other terminal. The result was I had to split the white further down and also split the brown further down which was very difficult. Prefer to have the split white at the terminal connector along with the brown split terminal at the connector. great delivery and also great communications with the receptionist . 560437

  • How to Replace a 5 Pole Flat Wiring Harness That Has 7 Wires
I have a solution for you, but we do not have the exact replacement for this wiring harness. Instead, I recommend using the Wesbar 5-Pole Flat Connector # W002290 to replace your old connector and then combine one of the wiring functions on the old harness into one wire on the new harness. You'll want to test the functions of your existing wires but my best guess is that the way this is currently wired your blinkers have individual ground wires and that harness has no reverse light wired...

  • Available 5-Flat Wishbone-Type Trailer Connectors
We do not carry (and I have not seen) a 5-flat type trailer connector with the many multiple wires for each pin that you describe. We DO have wishbone 5-flat connectors like # A40W5B and # W002290 which have two brown running light wires to simplify connection to the tail lights on both sides of a trailer. What you describe sounds like a custom-made part. I can understand the three white (ground) wires especially if the trailer were made of aluminum which makes establishing multiple...

Yes, you are correct in that the blue wire on the Wesbar 5-Pole Flat Connector part # W002290 can be used for the reverse light circuit. I have listed for you below the way I recommend wiring the connector. Yellow: Left Turn/Stop Green: Right Turn/Stop Brown: Tail Blue: Reverse White: Ground Please note that however you wire the trailer side connector, the vehicle side connector will need to match it in order for the lights to function properly. • Replacing Trailer 5-Way Connector That has 7 Wires
What you have is a 5-way with a double wishbone, which means it is likely a double wire for marker lights as well as a double ground. You can replace your 5-way with another wishbone-style but it does not need to be a double wishbone with 7 wires, you can replace it with a standard 5-way wishbone with 6 wires. There are a couple options depending on the length you need: - 25 feet: 5-Way Trailer Wiring Harness - Wishbone Style # A25W5B - 40 feet: Wesbar 5-Pole Flat Connector...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness With Tinned Wire
While tinned wiring is the norm when it comes to interior wiring on boats, boat trailers see a minimal amount of water compared to the actual boats. They do use a tin coating on the pins that are the parts of a wiring harness like the Wesbar 5-Pole Flat Connector # W002290 since those are most exposed to moisture, but since the actual wiring is rarely exposed to water I'm guessing that's why they don't go the extra mile when it comes to using that wiring within the harnesses. • Is Tinned Wiring Used In Trailer Wiring Kits
The trailer wiring we offer like part # W002290, is designed to be used as a 5-wire harness, and works well with a trailer that has a surge coupler. The wires used in this harness are 16 gauge except the blue brake wire which is 18 gauge, and designed to be able to safely handle the current from a 12 volt system. The wires in this harness are not tinned. From my research I found that tinned wire is normally used in industrial wiring and used when the operating temperature of the wire...

  • 5-Way Wiring Harness for Boat Trailer
A wishbone harness means that there are separate wires for the running light circuits - one for each side of the trailer. I've attached a link to a video review of this harness for you to take a look at.

  • Recommendation to Replace Trailer 5-Way That Has 9 Wires
It sounds like the current 5-Way connector on your trailer has a type of wishbone wiring design, which uses separate wires for the signal lights on both sides of the trailer. Most likely yours has a separate wire going down each side of the trailer for the running lights, brake lights, and reverse light functions. I highly recommend following the wiring from the connector on your trailer and testing them for function to verify this. We do not have any 5-Way connectors available with...

The linked page shows the 4-pole trailer wiring kits we offer for your 2008 Nissan Sentra. This is the only type of wiring kit we have for this vehicle. • Replacement 5-Way Flat Wiring for 2005 Four Winns Trailer
I recommend using the Wesbar 5-Pole Flat Connector # W002290 to rewire your 2005 Four Winns trailer. This is a wishbone style so you can easily route the wiring to each side of your trailer. The regular lighting harness is 40' long while the ground wire is 4' long and the blue wire for the reverse light function is 5' long.

You are correct that the lower number on wire gauge means that is is a heavier wire. The Wesbar 5-Pole Flat Connector, part # W002290, you referenced has a 5 ft 18 gauge auxiliary blue wire that connects to the backup light circuit to disengage trailer surge brakes when you are backing up. The balance of the wires are 16 gauge. I have attached a couple of links to helpful articles for wiring on trailers you may wish to check out.

On the trailer's 5-way connector the yellow wire with brown stripe is most likely a running light circuit but you want to be sure. • 5-Way Recommendation For Trailer that Was Converted to Disc Surge Brakes
What you would want is the part # W002290 which is a trailer side 5-way flat with 40 inches of wiring. 5-Way rounds aren't common for trailer towing so that wouldn't be your best option. What you'd then want to do is cut all of the wires but the blue to length so that you can wire the 4 wires of the 5-way to your current wiring near the coupler, and then leave the blue wire longer so that it can make it to your reverse lockout solenoid.

  • Wire Harness and Wire Gauge to Re-Wire Open Landscape Trailer
It is common for trailer wiring to use larger gauge wires for the ground, and sometimes electric brake and 12V power circuits, than for the lighting circuits (running lights and stop/turn signals) since these circuits demand more current flow than most lightsw. For typical trailers with electric brakes and 7-way RV-style connectors the wire gauges are usually 10-gauge for ground and 12-gauge for all others, such as with part # DW04914-1 from Deka. Even though you may not need all 7 wires...

  • Why Won't Reverse Lights of 1990 Coleman Chesapeake Camper with 4-Way Connector Work

So to solve that problem you'll have to replace the 4-way of your trailer with a 5-way like the part # W002290 which the blue circuit would run to the power wire of the reverse lights. • 5-Way Recommendation for Trailer for Installing Reverse Lights
What's great about 4-way flats and 5-way flats is that they can fit each other without the need for an adapter. So what would be your best option is to use the part # HM47570 in the 7-way of your truck and then add a 5-way part # W002290 to your trailer. Basically you would want to cut off the 4-way wires short and then leave the 5th reverse light wire long to run it back to the reverse lights. The remaining wires would wire directly to the 4-way wires the trailer currently has.

The 5th wire on a 5-pole flat trailer connector like the Wesbar harness # W002290 can be used for either a reverse lockout function (as on a surge brake coupler) or to deliver a signal for electric brakes. It just depends on how your trailer is wired. 7- to 5-pole adapters like the Hopkins # HM47675 will typically take the 7-way's center pin function and assign that to the 5th pole on the 5-pole output.
