Video Transcript for Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring - 20140 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the Tow Ready Seven Foot Long Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness with the Hardwire Pigtails for Six Way or Seven Way Trailer Connector. Now this seven foot long wiring harness extension with the pigtail end gives you choice of hard wiring a six or seven way connector to your truck bed. It is designed to work with many vehicles, the Dodge, Ford, GM, Nissan, and Toyota trucks that have the factory tow package and the seven way at the rear. The socket end right here was what will plug into the standard factory connector and OEM inaudible 00:00:30 wiring harness at the rear of the vehicle and that's to provide a six way or seven way trailer connector in your truck bed for use with connecting a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer.Basically, it's very easy to install. All you need to do is go to the rear of the vehicle where the factory tow package is, and the seven way, you unplug the hot wiring harness from the seven way. Then you this end, plug this into the harness. Plug this end into the seven way, and then run this length of wire up to your truck bed, and then connect your appropriate connector for you application. Now the connector that you need will be sold separately.

We do list them on our website. The nice thing is when you do plug this in, it will retain the use of that factory connector at the rear of the vehicle. This part will include everything here, shown here, on the table. The harness itself, some cable ties to take up any slack of the wiring, and a nice set of detailed instructions with pictures on how to install everything. Now the wire size on this, the black, white, and blue wire is a ten-gauge size and the remaining four wires, brown, green, red, and yellow are 14-gauge seize. That should do it for the review on the Tow Ready Seven Foot Long Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness with the Hardwire Pigtail for Six Way or Seven Way Trailer Connector..

  • Gooseneck In-Bed Wiring Harness On 2016 Nissan Titan XD
If the 2016 Titan has a 7-way connector at the rear of the vehicle there is an easy way to add the in-bed wiring. I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness, part # 41157. This plugs into the wiring at the back of your 7-way and retains your 7-way by the bumper. You then just route the wiring to the location in the bed where you want to install it, use a hole saw to make the mounting hole and that's it. I have attached a link to an installation video...

  • 7-Way Trailer Plug and Wiring for Use on Car Hauler Trailer
The usual 7-way plug that is installed on a trailer is actually the male plug, such as # A7WCB or # H20046 that includes 8-feet of wiring. These fit into the female socket on the tow vehicle, such as the part # HM48470 that you referenced. Sockets like the HM48470 are normally used on the tow vehicle side only. Wiring in a trailer-side plug like the Hopkins # H20046 is usually simplified by use of a junction box, which is an enclosed (protected) connection point for the wiring where...

  • Installing 7-way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller on 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood
We do indeed have an adapter that will convert a 4 or a 5-pole connector to a 7-way, part # 37185. However, your travel trailer will likely have electric brakes, and to actuate them you'll need to install a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. To install the controller, we offer an installation kit, part # ETBC7. The kit incudes everything needed to install a controller, including the 37185 adapter I mentioned above. I'll link you to the instructions for the...

  • Adding 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer Wiring in the Bed of a 2015 Ford F-350 with 4-Way Flat Connector
To determine if you will be able to use the 5th Wheel adapter harness # 20140 you will need to follow the factory 4-Way back to where it plugs into another harness. If the plugs are round and match the picture I have included then you could use this adapter and you would still have full functionality of the bumper mounted 4-Way. But if you used this item you would have to then hardwire the blunt cut wires to the back of a vehicle side 7-Way. So if you do have the round connectors that...

  • Fifth Wheel Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500
It sounds like you are looking for a 5th wheel/gooseneck trailer wiring setup that will give you a 7-way in the bed of your 2011 GMC Sierra 1500. The part # 20140 will work for that, but the part # 41157 would be a better choice as it comes with a 7-way and costs less. This will install inline with the 7-way you have at the rear of your truck and will allow you to install a second one in the bed. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Adding In-Bed 5th Wheel Trailer Wiring on a 2005 Ford F-150 with Factory 4-Way
On your 2005 Ford F-150 with the 4-Way trailer wiring harness, if the harness is from the factory it will be fairly easy to add in-bed 5th wheel trailer wiring. Here is what you need to do. First, follow the factory 4-Way wiring forward on the under side of the truck until you find the connector it plugs into. The forward side of this connection point has more wires running into it then go out to the 4-Way. Using a circuit tester like # 3808, find the functions of each of the wires on...

  • T-Connector Wiring Harness for a 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty to Add a 7-Way in Back and 6-Way in Bed
If the 6-Way that is in the box connected to the factory wiring harness you could use something like the 5th wheel adapter harness # 20140. This harness plugs in line with the factory harness and then the blunt cut end can be routed up to that connector in the truck bed and the wires attached to it.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Options for a 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty FX4 Crew Cab
The capacities of the truck for towing, tongue, payload, and others are listed in the owners manual. What you can do is take the gross vehicle weight rating as listed on the label in the door jamb and subtract the empty weight of the truck. What remains is how much the truck can carry including cargo and passengers. The capacity in the truck bed is likely going to be high enough for most any 5th wheel trailer. On a 5th wheel trailer, the center of the king pin when connected to the...

  • How to Access Brake-Only Lighting Signal 2018 GMC Canyon for 3rd Brake Light Installation
In order to add a 3rd brake-only light to your truck cap you will use a tail light converter to separate out the brake signal from the combined brake/turn signal circuits on your Canyon. If the truck does NOT have LED tail lights use part # 118158 or part # C56196 if it does. These converters connect to the left and right combined stop/turn circuit wires (yellow and green, respectively). The red wire on the converter's output side delivers a brake-only lighting signal you can use...

  • Availability of 2-Foot Long Trailer Wiring Harness for Motorhome
I can come up with a solution or two for you, but the cable on the Curt # C55774 that you looked at measures about a foot long, so unless you have some slack in the motorhome's tow package harness that would make up that extra foot for you, you would need to make some modifications to an existing product. The first alternative would be to use the # HM40975-11998, and cut off the US car connector on the motorhome and hardwire the pigtail from this connector into the tow package wiring....
