Video Transcript for TorkLift Wiring Harness Extensions For SuperTruss Hitch Extenders Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Torque lift line of wiring harness extensions for use with the super truck hitch extenders. These are available in several different lengths. Just depending on how long that hitch extender that you're using is going to be. This is Torque's Lifts 36" extension that matches their 36" super stress. If you're going with the longer super truss, get the longer. If you're going with the shorter, get the shorter. Really a nice option to where you can plug it right into the back of your vehicle, bring your power down to where it's right here, readily available and accessible for you to get to. What we're going to do is take our, what looks like a trailer plug end, we're going to pass it through our bracket.

It's just flexible enough we can kind of bend that bracket so allow it to come through. Then here's what we want, that's our 7 pole connector. We're going to be bale to hook our trailer up right here. We've got the nice safety chain connections there an then also our wiring connection. Slide that in.

We're pass our screw through the face there and then just put our nuts on the back. Now, the hardware's not provided so you'll need some hardware to pass through there. You can see our bracket's kind of got the oblong holes to make it to where it'll fit a lot of different style harnesses. I'm going to put a flat washer on to give our nut a good surface to bite to when we tighten it down. Now we can go ahead and tighten those down as well. At that point, we're mounted on, got a nice secure connection point.

We can basically just plug this right into the back of our truck. You don't want this to be hanging down underneath our hitch where it might drag or something like that. That will complete today's look at the Torque Lift wiring harness extensions for the super truck hitch extender.

I used this product as an extension to my existing harness because our new truck's plug in is located in a different place than the previous one and the chord would disconnect when turning. Not the intended purpose for this product but it works just fine. 364543

My travel trailer cord was not adequately reaching my Expedition plug. Had already been pulled out when making a left turn. This extension worked great! Nice and secure fitting. Wrapped the excess once around the tongue jack for a better fit. 254517

Its been a year and the extension cord still works great! Stays secure and gives enough room for turning.

My wiring harness works great. Best of all Etrailer ad my sales person was wonderful and understood exactly what I needed. I spent 3 hours on the phone and internet trying to find what I needed and none of them had a clue. This company truly has the most knowledgeable staff by far. I will not use anyone else from this point forward. 186078

Ask the Experts about this TorkLift Wiring

  • What Trailer Wiring Connectors are Often Found on Rental Trailers
A 7-way trailer wiring harness is a very commonly used trailer connector that most trailers are designed to work with. The only other common wiring connector that you might encounter would be a 4-way. Which all you would need then to convert your 7-way to a 4-way would be the # PK12716. With the # PK12716 you would have the ability to tow a trailer with either a 7-way or a 4-way which would cover basically any trailer you would be able to rent.

  • Options for 7-Way Wiring For Truck Bed Camper Shell to Allow Longer Wiring Solution
10 feet is the longest 5th wheel style of 7-way harness that we offer. If you can find a more direct route to get it up to the front of your truck bed that would be ideal. Otherwise we do have 7-way extensions you could use on the camper like # TLW6021 which is 21 inches or the part # TLW6048 which is 48 inches long.

  • Short 7-Way Trailer Connector Extension
The shortest we have is 21 inches. A little long but not too bad that it could cause a huge amount of hanging wire. The part is # TLW6021.

  • Troubleshooting TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension Not Working After Heavy Rain
Since everything on the truck and trailer worked perfectly when removing the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6021, the issue certainly appears to be within the extension itself. I recommend checking the connector and plug for any dirt or debris that you can see between and inside the pins, simply cleaning out as needed. Debris build up within the connector can lead to shorts can cause the type of issue you experienced on your last trip. There might also be some internal corrosion...

  • Recommended 7-Way Extension to Prevent Connection with Trailer from Unplugging During Turns
It sounds like you just need a bit of extension for the 7-Way on your truck. I recommend taking a look at the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6021. This will plug right into the 7-Way on your truck and provide you with a 21 inch extension and an RV/trailer style 7-Way at the other end. This may be a bit longer than what you are needing, but it is the shortest such extension we currently have available. I have attached a video demonstration on this harness that you can also check out.

  • Recommended SuperTruss And TorkLift SuperHitch on 2016 Chevy 2500
There is really only one solution I recommend that will work for your desire to pull a trailer with the tailgate down. I recommend removing your Class V hitch and replacing it with the TorkLift SuperHitch # TLC1211. This would need to be used with a factory hitch and the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 36" Long # TLE1536 to clear your tailgate. • Recommended 7- and 4-way Bumper Plug Extension for Use with Cabover Camper
I have just the thing for you to extend your bumper plug to the end of your camper. If you want to get the 7-way and 4-way you will want the # H20042 and the # HM48470. This combination will need to be wired up but will include the mounting bracket for the 7-way and 4-way. If you prefer to have a prewired 7-way the one you will want it the # TLW6021. All of our prewired ones will only include the 7-way. A mounting bracket for this extension plug is # TM76474. I have linked all...

  • Hitch Extension, TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum, Camper Tie Downs, and Air Bags for a 2015 Ford F-250
Since the bed on your 2015 Ford F-250 is 6-3/4 feet and the camper is 8 feet, 7 inches you are correct about needing an extension. Otherwise it is possible for the truck to make contact with the trailer when turning. There are several extensions that will word with the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch # TLF1002-30 which does use a specific extension. I recommend the 21 inch long SuperTruss # TLE1521 because it combined with a ball mount will give you enough extension. You also...

  • How to Pick Out 7-Way Extension When Using Curt Hitch Extender C45048
When using the Curt hitch extension part # C45048 that you referenced at the 34 inch length to pick the correct Torklift 7-way extension really depends on the length of the 7-way harness on your trailer. If it's one that would be pulled tight if it was extended at all past the coupler then I'd recommend going with the longer version part # TLW6036. If your trailer has a connector that has more than enough length you'd want the shorter version part # TLW6028. Basically you want to make...

  • Can Power Cable on Nighthawk Tow Bar be Run on Opposite Side of Tow Bar
I was talking to our shop manager about this and you can't really move the wiring harness on the Nighthawk tow bar # RM-676 from one side to the other. It is unlikely to be a problem in terms of length because the coiled cable does stretch. Another option is to use a small extension such as # TLW6021 which is 24 inches long. Part of the issue is that the LED lights run off of the running light wire in that harness and there isn't a way to access it. At least not easily.

  • Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller Compatibility with 2016 Thor Palazzo and Trailer Side Mount
The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller - Wireless # C51180 can be hard mounted to the trailer but it cannot have any flop or movement of the unit because it is inertia based and needs to be able to find the consistent point to monitor movement from. The direction of the controller isn't an issue so if mounted to the side frame at an angle is okay. You can use an extension like the Curt Universal 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 7-Way Extension - 7' Long # C56080 which can be shortened or coiled...

  • Availability of an RV Style 7-Way to 7-Way Extension
If you want to use # WG54006-043 then you just need the vehicle end, such as # PK12-707E, since it already has the trailer end on it. We have some ready-made 7-Way extensions that you can use such as # 20027 or # C56080 which are 7 feet long. We have a shorter option, # TLW6021, which is 21 inches long. And we have a 10 foot long model # TLW6510.

  • Availability of 7-Way Extension for Trailer Towed By 2015 Toyota 4Runner
The most cost effective solution to the problem you're experiencing would be to use the Draw-Tite 7-way loop, part # 20027. There is a 24 inch option, part # TLW6021, but it costs twice as much. I'd use the longer 20027 and simply zip tie up the excess wire so it's out of the way. The relocated 7-way could be attached to the trailer hitch using a # C57202 no drill bracket along with a # PK12711U trailer connector bracket. Another option would involve installing a longer trailer connector...

  • Options for Extending 7-Way Vehicle-Side Connector while Towing Tent Trailer and Bike Rack
I have a solution for you, but the Curt 7-Way Trailer Adpater for VW, Audi, and Porsch Towing Trailer with LED Lights # C57003 is designed for that specific application and would not work well if you do not have one of those manufactures as a tow vehicle. • Hitch Extension Recommendation for 2018 Ram 3500 with Camper Towing Boat Trailer
For your 2018 Ram 3500 with a factory 2-1/2 inch hitch the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long # C45048 would be what i recommend. It can give you either a 24 inch or 34 inch long extension and will fit your hitch as it was designed for 2-1/2 inch hitches. I attached a picture that shows a similar setup using this extension for you to check out as well. You'll also need to extend the 7-way too with a kit like the part # TLW6021.

  • Recommendation to make Trailer 7-Way Longer
The closest adapter we have to what you need is the Torklift part # TLW6021. This is a 7-way adapter that has a male end on one side and a female on the other. It measures a little longer than you requested at 24 inches though. Your ideal solution would be to remove your current 7-way and install a longer one on your trailer like with the part # H20042 that is a 3 foot long 7-way plug and lead. You could trim this down to match your trailer length needs as well.

  • Does Torklift 7-Way Extension Require Mounting Bracket on Hitch Extender
For a 7-way extension to go with the Curt Extender part # C45796 the part # TLW6021 would be the best option. The bracket part # C58000 would be your best option as it will hold the 7-way socket which can be hard to keep off the ground but if you wanted to wrap the harness around the extender to keep it off the ground that is an option as well.
