Video Transcript for Redline Wiring - Tools for Wiring - A0250 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number A0250. This is the 3/4" metal loom clamp. The heavy duty wire loom clamp is made of a plated steel construction and it's also going to have that rubber sleeve that's designed to protect the loom and the cable, or the wires that run through it. It's going to hold it securely to a frame or panel surface. This part number is going to include one clamp. They're very versatile and can be used for many different applications.

It's going to measure 1/2" in width. The diameter of the mounting holes, those are going to measure 1/4". Then the opening for the wires, that's also going to measure 1/4". I have a piece of angle iron here today. This would resemble maybe mounting it to a trailer frame, but I just want to give you a visual example of how this would mount and hold your wires up and out of the way. what I would do first is simply just take my wires.

I'm using wires that would be connected to a standard four-way flat connector. We're going to have four wires. Each wires is going to be 16-gauge wiring. I place that inside my clamp and I close the clamp over the wiring. It's going to make my holes line up.

Already got a pre-drilled hole in my frame. I'd line up my hole there. You can use many different types of hardware. I'm simply just going to use a screw and then place a nut on the backside of it. Depending on your surface, you could use a screw, a bolt, a self-tapping screw, just whatever works for you. Your hardware is going to be sold separately.

Once you have that on there, you just tighten it down. You can see how that is going to secure the wires up and out of the way along whatever mounting surface you're going to be using these on. That's going to do it for our review of part number A0250. This is the 1/4" metal loom clamp. .

Good Product. I am a guy that likes a challenge although this wasen't much of one.. easy instructions, straight forward application and tools this was a fun project. my best advice would be if you're putting together a project of sorts make sure you speak to a rep before you order, that way all the parts you order work well together.. 657135

I took a trailer with no deck to get rewired and new lights. They ran the wires across two crossmembers. When i put the new deck down and bolted it to the crossmembers, the bolts came fairly close to the wiring and i knew the wires would eventually wear on the threads. So i used the 1/4 inch clips to secure the wires right to the existing new deck bolts. made a very clean wiring job. Next time i will buy the wire and lights at etrailer and install it myself this way. 409916

Great product. I put my deck down with 1/4 inch cairrage bolts. I put these on under the crossmembers before the nut to secure wiring coming across to catch the marker lights on the fenders and the brake lights. made for a very clean job and nicely secures wires and keeps them from rubbing on the bolt threads. 365564

Ask the Experts about this Redline Wiring

Do you have a question about this Wiring?

  • Does Hot Lead on Wiring Harness for 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited Have to be Run to Battery
  • Thanks for the purchase and that is a good question, but you must run the hot lead directly to the battery when installing a 4-way, which in your case is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56407. The reason is this is the only way to ensure your car's wiring is not otherwise affected, and you can run the hot lead from your battery in any manner you see fit. To do this you may need Wire Loom, 10' Long # 7509-10 and Loom Clamp -1/4" # A0250....

  • Parts Needed to Rewire Triple Axle Gooseneck Trailer with Brakes
  • Since you mentioned that you want to rewire the whole trailer we will start off with a 7-way connector. For this you can use part # H20046 which will give you 8 ft of wire to start with. I then recommend using a junction box like part # 38656. This will mount to your trailer frame and you will use the posts inside the box to attach the wiring. This will make the rewiring process as easy and clean as possible. Next you will need to figure up how much wiring you will need. In this case...

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Setup Recommendation for a Tandem Axle Trailer
  • A 4-way trailer wiring harness wouldn't carry a brake signal so it wouldn't matter how many axles you would have on a trailer that has a 4-way. A better option would be a 7-way as that style of harness does carry the brake signal. Starting with a trailer side 7-Way connector you can use # H20042 which is 3 feet long. It doesn't have to be long though because it is going to the junction box. Speaking of junction boxes you can use # 38656. I have included a picture showing how it...

  • Is Actuator Needed with 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly # 23-468 and # 23-469
  • When using the 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly for 3.5 K Axles, Left Hand # 23-468 and Right Hand # 23-469, you will not need an actuator for the brakes to function on the trailer. An actuator is used to pressurize the hydraulic brake system so it is not needed for electric brakes. In order to function, the Nev-R-Adjust brakes will need to be wired to your trailer connector. The brakes will then receive it's signal from a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195,...

  • How Thick Can the Metal Be to Use Replacement Wire Clip 027-005-00
  • I spoke with a co-worker who has used clip # 027-005-00 and he recommends attaching it to metal no thicker than 1/4 inch but that it might work with 3/8 inch thick metal. A better option would be # 464600 since it is a little larger and meant for this application more than the other clip. Another option is to use a loom clamp such as # A0250. I have included a link to a video review featuring this clamp for you.

  • Although we do not have a video showing the installation of the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # C56303, on a Sonic, I have attached a helpful article that explains the different methods for running a hot lead wire to a vehicle battery. In most cases you can run the wire through a grommet to get the wire beneath the car. I understand running the power wire under the vehicle is not appealing but you can use wire loom like part # 7509-10 so the wire is protected under the...

  • I think adding a 7-Way and a junction box and not to mention LED lights are great ideas! If you are going to replace all of those items, you may as well go the all out and replace all of the trailer wiring as well. Starting with a trailer side 7-Way connector you can use # H20042 which is 3 feet long. It doesn't have to be long though because it is going to the junction box. Speaking of junction boxes you can use # 38656. I have included a picture showing how it can be wired up and...

  • Relocating License Plate and Bracket on a Utility Trailer

Then you can attach a bracket such as # LPL55CB (may have to do some drilling/modify the L-bracket). Then you can ground the license plate bracket to the nearby frame of the trailer and the power wire to the running light circuit. The wiring can be run along the frame to the nearest tail light for the power wire. You can use wire ties or even metal loom...

  • Clips and Clamps to Attach Wires and Wiring Harnesses to the Bottom of a Trailer Frame
  • There are many ways you can secure wires to a trailer. I would not recommend the use of tape as it will wear out quickly when exposed to the elements. Soldering is also not recommended because it is a more permanent method and you may need to change wires or move them in the future the hot solder would also melt the coating on the wiring, causing a short. If you can find some large enough, wire ties could be a simple solution. We have several clamps and clips that could work for this...
