Video Transcript for Pollak Wiring - Trailer Connectors - PK12720 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number PK12720. This is the Pollak 6-pole round pin plastic trailer wiring socket. This 6-pole socket connects the towing vehicle to the trailer. It's going to feature round, solid brass pins so it's going to ensure that minimum voltage drop is obtained. It also has dielectric, non-conducting grease coating on those so it's going to protect against corrosion and resistance. This will accept wire gauge up to number 12.

It's also going to come with a rubber boot that covers the terminals. It's going to seal the wire connections from dust and moisture, so before you make your connections, be sure that you run your wires through the small portion of the rubber boot out through the large portion, make your connections and then just slide the boot over the top of those connection points. It's going to feature a spring loaded cover so it's going to protect the socket into your connections from the elements, has a 2-hole mounting style. It's made from a corrosion resistant ABS plastic construction and this is interchangeable with other 6-pole round pin connectors. The mounting hole dimension that you need is going to measure 1 3/8-inch. The mounting screw holes, those are going to measure 1/4-inch and the center of one to the center of the other is going to be separated by 1 3/4-inch. When it comes to the wiring configuration, when making your connections, your white wire is going to be your ground, your brown is going to be for your taillights, yellow is going to be left turn, red is going to be stop and/or your electric brakes, green is going to be right side and then blue is going to be for the auxiliary circuit. That's going to do it for our review of part number PK12720.

This is the Pollak 6-pole round pin plastic trailer wiring socket. .

What can I say? It does its job. I used a 6-pole connector so that I could wire in a battery charger for our toad. The awesome folks at etrailer.com had to send me a replacement because one of the "ears" cracked during shipping. I'm assuming that it got squashed between some heavy parts as it was only packaged in a plastic bag. 402874

I searched around the web in search of a custom wiring hook up that would work with the existing wiring circuitry that was already in place on my old Dodge pickup. Product arrived in a timely manner. It was as described (or even better), with apparent quality of material and construction. I would recommend this product to anyone needing to wire a 6-pin, vehicle-side connector. 161266

These connectors were high quality by a known manufacturer. I could have bought them locally but I wouldn't have gotten the expert advice and detailed information that I was able to get from eTrailer!. I talked to several people and each one was very knowledgeable. When the parts arrived, it surprised me because they came so quickly! I would readily order from them again if I needed more trailer parts. I used these connectors to adapt a Minn-Kota trolling motor to my fishing kayak and have attached some pictures showing it installed. 150858

My order was handled expertly and in a timely fashion. Delivery was just a few days after placing my order. Although I have not yet installed the connector it appears to be a well made unit. Instructions were clear for wiring. 149877

  • Recommended Parts to Make an 8 Foot Connection from Truck 7-Way to Truck Bed Camper 6-Way
  • For the connection, I believe you are looking for an extension like the Hopkins Heavy-Duty, Coiled Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Way to 6-Pole Round - Center Pin Brake # HM47085, but an 8 foot length versus 3 foot. For this, you will need to create a cable using the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector with Molded Cable - Trailer End - 8' Long - RV Standard # H20046 and the 6 way # PK12720. I've attached an article to assist with the connections.

Either one of the wires on your brake needs to run to the reverse light circuit on your trailer connector and the other wire needs to ground. I would start with an appropriate length of 10 gauge double bonded wire, # 10-2-1, to go from the 7-way or 6-way trailer connector to the area where the battery will be stored. Do not store the battery inside the horse trailer or directly on the ground. Next, wire a vehicle end connector that is compatible...

Or do you have the 7-way connector like part # PK11893 that features 6 blade-type pins with one connector in the center? The two can sometimes be confused. There are two possible reasons why the brakes are locking up on the trailer.
