Video Transcript for Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring - PK11893-11932 Review

Today were going to review part number PK11893-11932. This is the Pollak Fifth Wheel Gooseneck T-Connector Wiring Harness with the included 7-way connector for the truck bed. This part is great for trucks that are pulling fifth wheels or goosenecks. This will allow you to provide a second 7-way connector in the bed of your truck closer to your fifth wheel or gooseneck. Basically, what this wiring harness consist of, it will have the 7-way which is to be used in the bed of your truck. You have to drill a hole into the truck bed and then install this.

It will include the harness itself which is a 7-1/2 foot long harness. On one end is the T-connector. On the other end are the loose pins that will need to be pinned in to this connector which youll attach to the extra 7-way. Now basically this will plug into your OEM harness. On your truck you actually have a 7-way already thats like this.

What youll need to do is remove it, unplug underneath your truck, unplug the OEM wiring harness from the back of your factory 7-way thats on there now. Youll take this end of the T-connector and plug it into your OEM wiring harness, this other end with the blue locking ring in there. Well plug into the factory 7-way thats on the back of your truck. Now what you need to do is go to the other end of this harness and -youll see the pins are all loose that need to be pinned to the connector here. What you want to do is if you go to the product page for this part number or the wiring harness, at the bottom of the page we have a picture of this socket and it will show you the numbers on it.

Theres also, if you look real close here, Ill try to show you the numbers are actually marked on the connector itself or the socket right here. That will help you out. What you want to do is on the product page it will show you what wire goes to what number on this socket. It will say number one so youll find the hole here that will have a one by it, which will be right here. Then it will say red wire.

You just take this red wire thats coming out of the harness and then push it into the red hole that has a number one by it. Okay, and when you push it in you can hear it lock into place. It snaps into place and is locked in there. Then youll just go around, take each wire, it will say number two is the white wire. Theres the number two hole. Youll take the white wire and push that in and just go all the way around. Usually what you want to do is I would recommend to also get the middle wire plugged in there because you dont want to have them all plugged on the outside and then it will be hard to get to the middle one. Once the wires would all be connected to this, what you want to do then is take this blue locking ring and line it up with this. Theres a cut out right here and then just push that down over it and that will lock all those pins into place. Before you do this you want to make sure that is pinned correctly because this is pretty hard to get off. It would end up looking like this when this ones already pinned in with the locking plate in. Now, if by chance when you do push one of these in and its the wrong on and the wrong hole you find out, theres a simple solution. All you have to do is look at the one thats wrong. If you say this red one is in the wrong hole, look right here and right underneath where the metal clip is pushed in there, theres a little tab. What you want to do is just take your little screwdriver, push that tab towards the center of this connector and boom, it will allow you to pull the wire right out so theres no harm if you get the wrong one in there, then just get the right one and push it in there. Once you have all these wired correctly or pinned correctly and the locking ring on then you can--this would already be installed in the bed of your truck. Just take this end, line it up, boom, push it right on it will be locked into place. If youre all good with it just push this gray locking ring down and that will lock everything together so nothing will come apart. Before you push this locking ring down, if you need to take it off, just push this little tab down here and that will be removed easily. Just a few tips on installing this to make it a lot easier. This will fit Chevy, GMC, Ford and Nissan trucks. Again, the length of this harness is 7-1/2 ft and it does come with a one-year limited warranty. That should do it for review on part number PK11893-11932.

The directions were a little confusing. The direction had the wire colors a little mixed up. Someone needs to experiment with the equipment to straiten out the colors and which light they belong to. The product works great. It makes me feel safer!! 453703

The Pollak 5th Wheel T-Connector w/7 Pole, is a great product. The hardest part of the installation on my 2014 Ford F-250 truck was cutting the hole in the box, need a drill that has power. I used a half inch electric drill. The Pollak connector plugged into the Ford factory electrical connections with ease. This T-Connector was just what I was looking for. I pull a 32' 5th Wheel Camper, the camper cord plugs into the Pollak connector with no issues. Thanks! 148953

First of all what I like about this product...it does what it's supposed to do. That is, to tap into the OEM wiring harness and provide a trailer wiring plug in the truck bed for a gooseneck trailer. What I don't like had entirely to do with installation. There were no instructions...none. Not even a diagram showing which wires go in which holes. The plug was marked with what the wires do but not the color. I know what colors are generally used for what task on trailer wiring, but does the manufacturer? It turns out they do but I had to stop in the middle of the installation, go into the house, turn on the computer and watch the install video. Not the end of the world, but a PITA none-the-less. My other major issue was with the install screws provided. These are the cheapest POS, made in china screws they could find. They were also slotted head screws. Come on...really?!?! Slotted head screws!?!?! Really?!?! On top of that these screws weren't self-tapping, like you think would be used on the INSIDE of the truck bed, they had a nut on the back side which a person would supposedly snake on, somehow, in the blind space between the inner and outer walls of the truck bed. Since I didn't have a helper, nor 7' long arms, I dug through my screw stash and found the exact self-drilling, self-tapping screws that Pollack should have provided. I actually would have preferred they provide no install screws at all. I don't know which is sillier. That Pollack won't spend a nickel more for the screws that they should provide, or that it annoys me so much. For a nickel work of screws, and a single picture or diagram showing which wire goes into what hole, I would have given Pollack an excellent rating. Pollack would do well to take some customer satisfaction classes. Perhaps they could look to B & W or etrailer for that. 172730

Comments

Ditto Ditto Tim B! Mine did come with self tapping screws, but only two! Go figure. So, I figure Ill put the two in kitty corner and round up the others. But the screws arent even long enough to screw in. The hole got drilled but not enough threads left to screw. They supplied 12 inch and needed to be 3/4. The other screws they supply are worthless. Just ship 4 self tappers 3/4 long and forget the others. And an included wiring diagram would have been nice. Like you said, I had to bring up the website again just to wire the plug.

In the video it states that if you look on the page for this installation and scroll down it shows you a colour diagram of the colour coding. As for the screws I guess I should just go buy 4 before I even order this kit. Cheers

This product works great. The plug that was in my bed had been mostly wired by the previous owner, and his wiring job left something to be desired. I needed to replace the factory wiring to my plug on my bumper, and I just didn't like the thought of splicing wires on my brand new harness to make my plug in my bed functional again. I found this product, and it gave me exactly what I was looking for- a solution that required no splicing of my new harness and a good, solid wiring job to my plug. I want to do it right the first time and know that it is going to work when I need it. From reserch that I have done, I found that Pollak was the OEM supplier of the wiring harness on my F-250, so you know you are getting factory quality with this product. The installation is pretty straight forward, but it can't hurt to watch the video on this product. It took me some time to modify the existing hole in my bed so this plug would fit, but that was the hardest part of the installation. Just make sure you pick a spot that has enough area for the wiring and the back of the plug to fit before you go cutting holes. The hardware kit that comes with the product didn't really help me out, but I didn't see where it was advertised that it comes with hardware, so I can't knock them for that. Two final, but important pieces of advice I would like to share: Make sure you run your wiring to the location of the plug BEFORE you put the wires into the socket. I didn't think about this, but luckily, the plug barely fit where I needed it to go. Also, make sure you connect the wires correctly before pushing the blue piece into place. There is another plug just like it on the other end of the wire. Use it as a template and double check....no triple check your connections. Like I said earlier, this plug does exactly what I wanted it to do. I now have a factory quality connection with correctly sized wires to my plug in my bed. Plus, buying this option is cheaper than many other ones and allows you to run wires into tight places that similar products may not...not knocking other products, I just see that as a positive feature of this one. I hope this helps! 70155

2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I bought the Pollak PK11893-11932 wire harness to install in my 2013 Ford F350 King Ranch pickup. I watched the video both on youtube and on e-Trailer's site and the install went exactly as described. One item of interest, I unbolted the bracket that supports the OEM trailer connection at the rear of the truck because I found this easier than trying to pry the connections apart while the bracket was still on the truck. Two bolts and it came right off and allowed me to see the top side of the OEM connector for easier separation of the Ford wire harness. Other than that, it went as smooth as silk. Total time to complete the job, about 45 minutes. This is a great product. I would highly recommend this for any 5th wheel towing vehicle. It makes the whole appearance of your truck and 5th wheel look neater, instead of having the 5th wheel cable hanging over the tailgate. Very nice. Thanks Pollak and e-Trailer. 88852

Comments

Thanks for the follow up Patrick. I love the Y connector. I installed it in my 2013 F-350 King Ranch, for the 5th wheel I tow and it makes the whole connection neat and clean. No wires hanging over the tail gate. The install was a breeze. I was somewhat apprehensive about drilling a 2 hole in the wall of my brand new truck, but Etrailers product installation instructions relieved my anxiety. I appreciate the attention to detail that obviously went into the design of this product. Once again thanks for the follow up.

Wiring harness came quickly and was exactly as described. Super simple installation. Drill your hole in your truck bed where you want your 5th wheel plug to be. I used a 2.5” hole saw. Follow the color coordinated drawing to install the wires in your new plug. Just unplug your existing factory 7way plug, feed the wiring down through your new hole, use 4 metal screws to secure your new plug in your bed. Now go underneath, route your new harness and zip tie out of the way. Plug in the new harness to your oem factory 7 way plug, then use the remaining plug to plug back into your 7 way plug mounted to the truck on or under the bumper if you plan on using that plug again. I wanted to as I have a four way on my bumper as well. Fast and easy, no sweat. 542064

I had wanted to add a plug to the bed for sometime but never got around to it. Finally got this kit and it was simple to install. etrailer had the pinout on the website for our truck and an install video to watch if needed. The hardest thing you have to do is drill into the bed. 652147

No instructions came with this wiring kit. I find it ridiculous that universal color codes do not apply to this kit! I blew a fuse right off the bat using the colors as they apply to almost all vehicle manufacturers. The wire colors were the same, however the placement in the plug that is pre-wired is not correct. If this is a standard policy, it would have been nice to have an instruction sheet stating that. My choice was to either correctly place and change the pre-wired plugs, or make the other end match the incorrectly color coded plugs. 634387

Comments

There is more than one accepted convention for color coding a 7-way trailer connector, which is why we list both by wire color AND wire function. This can be seen higher up on this page in the product description.

The wiring harness was easy to install and works great. Only issue I had installing it on a 2016 F250 was the depth of the harness. The back end is kinda crushed in rubbing on the backside of the skin on the truck. I put some anti-chafe tape down and its fine but an angled down harness at the end would have been a better fit. 425410

  • Recommended 5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch for 2017 Ram 2500 with Factory Rail Kit
  • The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 referenced in your question can be used on your 2017 Ram 2500 with the factory rail kit by using the Reese Rail Adapter # RP30154. The B&W Patriot is compatible with industry-standard, above-bed rails, which is exactly what mounting the Reese Rail Adapter to your factory puck system will provide. Because the Reese Rail Adapter uses the existing puck mounting system, no drilling will be required during installation. I have...

  • Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ram 3500 Dually Mega Cab with Factory Pucks
  • For your 2017 Ram 3500 dually that has the 6-foot bed and factory rail kit my best recommendation for a sliding hitch is the 20K-rated B&W Companion # BWRVK3670. The build quality of B&W hitches is unmatched and over 300 of our customers that have selected this hitch have rated it with almost a perfect score! The Companion drops right into your pucks - no adapters required - and it offers 12-inches of slider travel, a double-pivoting head for easier hitching and a double jaw system...

  • 5th Wheel Mounting Kit for 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab with 6-1/2-Foot Bed
  • We do have 5th wheel installation kits confirmed to fit the 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with 6-1/2-foot bed and these appear on the two linked pages. One page shows kits for the version without EcoDiesel engine and the other for the version with it. Right now the kits available are from B&W and from Demco. We have one above-bed kit for the non-EcoDiesel version, B&W Base Rail kit # BWRVK2604, which is currently the only option that fits trucks with the factory Air Suspension system. This...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ram 2500 Short Bed with Factory Rail Kit Puck System
  • We have a number of options available for your 2017 Ram 2500 with factory rail kit and short bed. You can use any industry standard size 5th sliding 5th wheel hitch using an adapter like the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 25,000 lbs # RP30154. Curt has an adapter for your rail kit that is only compatible with their hitches # C16022, but their hitches are also compatible with the Reese adapter. For a hitch, I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel...

  • Recommended B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed
  • Your 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 short bed was a year of transition in body style and strength, so I confirmed with the manufacturer you will want the # BWGNRK1059 if you have the tube frame changing to C-channel before the axle or the # BWGNRK1050 if you have the full C-channel frame. A quick look underneath will give you a clear understanding of what frame style you have and which of these two options will fit your truck. I also recommend you add the wiring harness # PK11893-11932 to give...

  • Best Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2016 Nissan Titan XD Towing Forest River Sabre Fifth Wheel
  • The best fifth wheel hitch for your 2016 Nissan Titan XD will depend on if your truck has the OEM integrated gooseneck or not. If your Titan XD does not have the integrated gooseneck I highly recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W which is considered by many to be the highest-quality fifth wheel hitch available. It features dual jaws which are a full 1" thick to provide a secure connection and polyurethane bushings for optimal ride quality. The Companion will require the use...

  • The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs # BWRVK3255 or 16K # BWRVK3200 will fit in your Curt 5th Wheel rails and do not require longer pins. The Sliding hitch for short bed trucks # BWRVK3270 also will fit your rails and does not require longer pins either. If you are upgrading your hitch, you may also want to consider adding a wiring harness like # PK11893-11932 for easy connection access.

  • Will the Pro Series 5th Wheel Hitch # PS30133 Work with 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
  • The Pro Series 5th Wheel Hitch, part # PS30133, will absolutely work for your 2006 Ford F-250 or F-350 Super Duty. The 5th-wheel rails and installation kit provided in the package are universal and can be used with your vehicle. However, for a simpler installation that does not require drilling into your truck frame, I recommend the Pro Series 20K Fifth Wheel Custom Install Kit, parts # PS30121 and # RP50082-58. This package uses the same Pro Series 5th Wheel Hitch as the # PS30133...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Ram 3500 Short-Box with Factory 5th Wheel Rail Kit
  • The best slider hitch for your 2017 Ram 3500 short-box that has the factory 5th wheel rail kit is without a doubt the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670. This 20K-rated hitch drops directly into your factory pucks and its slider gives you a full foot of travel for low-speed maneuvers. B&W fabricates and assembles their hitches not too far from us, in Humboldt, KS, and their products are renowned for their excellent design and better-than-it-needs-to-be build quality. (B&W actually builds...

  • Recommended In-Bed 7-Way Wiring Harness for Slide in Truck Bed Camper on 2011 Ford F-350
  • Unless you specifically need the 9 foot length provided by the part # 50-97-410 harness you referenced, I would recommend the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector, part # PK11893-11932. The Pollak harness is 7-1/2 feet long, and with a short bed truck it should be more than long enough at half the price. I have linked to a video showing a typical installation. The video shows a different vehicle, but should provide you a good idea of how to proceed with the install.

  • If your battery isolation relay is installed properly it will only draw from the main battery when it is reading current from the alternator or when vehicle key is in the ON position. When your vehicle is OFF it should only be drawing current from the auxiliary battery. We do have a Two Battery Universal Isolator Kit, # DW08771, that will give you the proper current control to each battery.

  • Recommended 5th Hitch and Pin Box for Towing Jayco Eagle with 2008 Silverado 2500HD Short Bed
  • I will assume that your 2008 Silverado 2500HD has the 6-1/2 foot bed. The pin box of a fifth wheel trailer is the extension that comes off of the underside of the trailer loft. The king pin that locks into the jaws of the fifth wheel hitch extends from the bottom of the pin box. I have edited a photo for you showing these parts. For a 6-1/2 foot bed, we typically recommend using a sliding fifth wheel hitch to provide the proper clearance between the front of the trailer loft and the...

  • Can 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer Wiring be Installed in the Bed of a 2014 Ram 2500 with Ram Box
  • I actually recommend 5th wheel/gooseneck harness # 41157 since it is already assembled. You could install it in the bed of a 2014 Ram 2500 with the Ram Box feature. You would just need to install it closer to the end of the bed (unless the Ram Box extends back that far). Otherwise it would have to be installed in the Ram Box so that the wiring does through the box, down, and over to the factory 7-Way. We haven't performed an installation on a model with the Ram Box feature since there...

  • In-bed 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer Wiring for a 2014 Ram 2500
  • If your 2014 Ram 2500 came with a factory installed 7-Way connector, which it should have, then I recommend in-bed wiring harness # 41157. It is pre-wired and ready to plug in line with the 7-Way at the back of the truck. I have included a link to a video showing how it installs.

  • Recommended Gooseneck Hitch for 2007 Ford F-250
  • I compared the Draw-Tite goose neck hitches offered for your two trucks, the 2004 Ford F-150 (6-1/2-foot bed) and the 2007 F-250 (6-3/4-foot bed) and found that none are common fits. You can see all Draw-Tite options for each truck on the two linked pages. For the 2007 F-250 the hitch I suggest is the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck # BWGNRK1108. This quality USA-made hitch is shown in the linked installation video and allows for easy conversion to 5th wheel towing through the use...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Installation on Lifted Short Bed 2014 Ram 2500 Without Factory Rail Kit
  • Let's start with a 5th wheel hitch for your truck. For a short box truck like your 6-foot-bed 2014 Ram 2500 you'll need a sliding 5th wheel. I recommend a round tube slider with the greatest amount of slider travel to give you the most turning clearance. Demco's 18K slider # DM8550034 offers 14-inches of travel and works with their custom base rail install kit # DM8552025-71. For a 5th wheel wiring harness use part # PK11893-11932. The 16K Reese set up you referenced, hitch # RP30869...

  • Parts Required for 5th Wheel Installation on a 2009 Dodge 1500 4 Door Pickup
  • The custom fit, above-bed, industry standard 5th wheel rails I recommend for your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 are the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP50142-58. This kit will not require you to drill into your vehicle's frame in order to install the rails and it is rated to match the vehicle manufacturer's tow ratings. The above-bed rails have industry standard slots to accept compatible fifth-wheel hitches. This rail kit includes the base rails, brackets, and...

  • Recommended Demco Auto Slide 5th Wheel Hitch for 2015 Ram 2500 with 6-Foot Bed
  • The 18K-rated Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550034 is an excellent choice for pulling your 13K-gross weight Glacier Peak 5th wheel with your 2015 Ram 2500 with 6-foot bed as long as the trailer has a tapered nose designed for good turning clearance. The mating custom installation kit is part # DM8552025-71 which will save you install time since it uses existing holes in the truck frame. This hitch works in trucks without the Rambox or Air Suspension systems. The...

  • Recommended Gooseneck And Fifth Wheel Hitch For 2002 Ford F-350 With 8-Ft Bed
  • Since you said you want to use your 2002 F-350 for a gooseneck and a fifth wheel I recommend the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # BWRVK3500-5W and part # BWGNRK1108-5W. This system requires no drilling in to the frame of your truck and gives you both the fifth wheel hitch and a gooseneck hitch, and also an empty bed that can be used for cargo when you are not towing . I have attached a link to an installation video for the custom installation kit you can check out. I...

  • Will the Pollack 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness # PK11932 Work with a 2013 Ram 3500HD
  • Yes, the Pollack Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness, # PK11932, will work with your 2013 Ram 3500HD as long as you already have an in-bed 7-way trailer socket that accepts they standard US style round connector (see photo). If you do not have the socket, then I recommend getting part # PK11893-11932. This is the same harness, but it also includes the 7-way socket. These harnesses tee in to the back of the bumper mounted 7-way socket on your truck. I have attached an installation...

  • 5th Wheel Base Rail Kit for 2008 Ford F-150 for RBW LR1000 5th Wheel Hitch
  • RBW makes several versions of their Lil Rocker 5th wheel hitch and the LR1000 is the version that fits into industry-standard 5th wheel base rails (ISRs). Since these rails are all standardized you can use an RBW hitch in a base rail kit from another maker. If you have an 8-foot bed you can use a fixed (non-sliding) hitch like the LR1000. Short bed require either a slider hitch or a Sidewinder replacement pin box on the trailer, both of which extend your turning clearance between the trailer...

  • Location to Mount 7-Way Connector In Truck Bed for 5th Wheel
  • Some model year trucks have a greater distance between the outer fender and the inside of the truck bed in the area directly behind the rear wheel well, which is typically why you see the trailer connector for the fifth wheel installed there. You could install the connector forward of the wheel well if you wish, but if you do, I would recommend using a 90-degree plug like the Bargman # 50-97-410. A 90-degree plug needs less space behind the bed wall. Keep in mind that you will need...

  • In-Bed 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer Wiring For A 2013 Ram 3500
  • For your 2013 Dodge Ram Pickup with the factory 7-way plug installed, I would recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness, part # 41157. This plugs into your existing OEM connector, which means no splicing, and also gives you another 7-way connector mounted in the bed of your truck, providing closer access for your fifth wheel wiring. You will need to cut a 2-1/8 inch hole in the bed of the truck to install the connector. I have linked you to an installation...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer hitch and Installation Kit for a 2016 Ford F-350 Short Bed without Prep Package
  • Since your 2016 Ford F-350 short bed does not have the factory 5th wheel prep package you will first need an installation kit. I recommend the Demco under-bed kit # DM8551000. This kit mounts under the bed like the factory prep package. When the hitch is removed you will have a clear bed for cargo. For a compatible 5th wheel trailer hitch I recommend the Demco HiJacker # DM8550037. This hitch is rated for 21,000 pounds gross trailer weight and it slides automatically. You will not have...

  • Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for 2011 Ford F-250 with 6-3/4-Foot Bed Towing 42-Foot Trailer

If you have a model 398V that has a GVWR of 17238-lbs, then I recommend the Reese custom install kit # RP50026-58 along with the 20K-rated slider hitch # RP30083. The Curt hitch # 16516 is not rated high enough for your toy hauler. This install kit uses custom brackets the save you install time and drilling, and the round tube slider will give you a good...

This one kit will fit all three bed lengths of the truck, 5-1/2, 6-1/2 and 8-foot lengths and it includes base rails, under-bed brackets and installation hardware.
