Quality part. My only complaint is actually a suggestion; a template would have been handy. I spent 20 minutes creating a template to use for cutting out a hole for mounting directly in the body. 322867

  • Recommendation for Charging a Lithium Battery Bank From a 2009 Ram 3500 Diesel Tow Vehicle
  • The Tow Ready Battery Isolation Solenoid # TR118665 along with 00 gauge wire and Pollak Single-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11851 along with # PK11852 will allow you a great connection for charging your battery. I also recommend putting a 40 amp circuit breaker # 9510 in line to protect your system. The issue is it will not amplify your charge so you will still be limited to the 2-3 amps charging above what your truck uses from your alternator. For a better option, I recommend...

  • Socket and Connector Recommendation for Charging Battery Bank of Trailer
  • The part # PK11852 and # PK11851 can be used for charging a trailer's battery. You would not be completing a circuit on the trailer since it's running to a battery so all you'd need to do is run the charge wire to the battery and you'd be able to charge it.

  • How to Wire Pollak 2-Pole Trailer Wiring Connector # PK12800
  • On the 2-pole connector # PK12800 there is a set screw on the bottom, face end, of the connector. Remove this small screw with a flat screwdriver and you can pull out the terminals of the connector. On the other end you would route your wires (make sure the clamp set screw is loose) and pull them through to the now open end of the connector. Then you will solder the wires to the terminals. When finished, push the hole assembly back inside the housing and replace the set screw. Then...

  • How to Charge Two 12 Volt Batteries on an RV Towed by a Ford F-150
  • The 12 volt circuit on a 7-Way trailer connector can provide a maintenance charge to a 12 volt battery but it will not be able to fully charge it because the wiring for a 7-Way is too small to carry the current required. What you can do to charge the batteries on the RV is to first install a battery isolator, # TR118665, in the truck. You will need to attach one terminal to the positive on the truck battery and then connect the center terminal to a 12 volt ignition source (something...

  • Parts Needed to Charge a Trailer Battery for a Winch
  • First, the wiring on a trailer connector can provide a maintenance charge to a 12 volt battery on a trailer but it will not be able to fully charge it. The 12 volt circuit on a 7-Way is already circuit protected so a separate fuse or breaker should not be needed. There is a way you can provide a charge to the battery from the truck. You would need to equip the truck and trailer with separate single pole connectors independent of the 7-Way. For the trailer side, you would need Pollak...

It's not grounded, because the battery on the tow vehicle is already grounded and trailer mounted equipment is usually grounded as well. The ground connection would typically be carried through an additional connector; depending on the piece of equipment you are supplying power to you might need to increase the ground wire gauge. You may need to connect the Even Brake, # RM-9400, to a different power source and see if that fixes the problem. • How to Charge a Trailer Battery While Towing a Tear Drop Trailer with a 2002 Volvo v70XC
  • If your trailer has a 7-Way connector, then it either already has electric brakes or is set up for electric brakes. Either way, you would not want to use the pin and wiring for the electric brake to charge a battery because it is too small a gauge for this application. A 7-Way connector already has a pin for a 12 volt accessory. If you are looking at the face of the trailer side 7-Way, it is in the 11 oclock position. This wire is only large enough to maintain a battery but will not charge...

  • Wiring Options for an Electric Winch Powered by an Additional Battery
  • The easiest way to wire the battery for your winch will be to use the 7 way connector on your vehicle if you have one on your 2006 GMC Truck. You can get a 7 way trailer connector like part # A7WCB and use the Jacketed 2 Wire, part # 10-2-1, to connect a wire for the power and a wire for the ground in the connector. You will then run the ground wire, or white wire, to the negative terminal on the secondary battery and run the power lead, black wire, to the positive terminal on the battery....

  • How Does Wire Attach to Pollak Single-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket
  • Single pole trailer connector # PK11851 accepts such large gauge wire that a set screw could work for holding the wire in place inside the connector. But it is designed so that you can solder the wire in. You can get a soldering iron kit fairly inexpensively just about anywhere that sells tools and/or craft supplies.

  • Will the 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot Fit on the Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket
  • Yes, the 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot, # PK11761, works with 3 of the Pollak heavy duty wiring sockets that we carry. You can use it with part # PK11720 that you mentioned and it can also be used with part # PK12801 and # PK11851. The hole in the back of the boot is just under 7/16 inch and measures .425 with a dial caliper. I produced a short video showing how the boot fits on each item for you.

  • Using a 7-blade RV Connection To Power a Trailer Mounted Winch
  • I would not try wiring a winch through a standard 7-way connector. Winches draw much more amperage than the wiring that can be installed in a 7-way trailer connector can handle. The best solution would be to use a winch wiring kit like the Winch Trailer Wiring Kit, for up to 4K Winches, item # SW1520. This kit includes everything needed to install a connector at the rear of the vehicle and at the front of the trailer, for powering a winch. If you already have heavy enough gauge wire you...

For the male end of the above socket you would want to use the Pollak Single-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Connector part # PK11852. The connectors can accept a wire size up to 00 gauge therefore, the 2 gauge wire will work well for you. I have attached a review video of each connector as well.

  • Wiring a Battery, Power Inverter, and Charger on a 1980 Coleman Tent Trailer

If that is sufficient for your needs then you would have the trailer connector, trailer side, 12 volt circuit attached to your charger. The charger would then connect to the battery, and the inverter would connect to the battery. Bascially, you will have the 12 volt power wire go to the positive of the charger. Ground the charger to the trailer frame. The positive...

  • Using the 12 Volt 7-Way Circuit for Off Road Lights on a Trailer
  • This sounds like a power draw issue. The 12 volt circuit on your 7-way is only designed to provide a certain amount of amps which will vary depending on the vehicle but it is usually around 20-40. If the power draw of your off road lights exceeds this then that is what would cause them to cut out. It may be best for you to just run the off road lights directly to the battery with a quick disconnect in between the trailer and tow vehicle. For quick disconnects I recommend part # PK11852...
