It does what you need. I'm about to purchase my third of these - so I must be happy with it. The first two were on my '94 F150. When towing a trailer that has more than just a single pair of stop-turn lights, you need a powered adapter to keep from "dimming out" the tail lights/signal lights on the truck. My first one failed after a few years (tail lights always on, even when the truck lights were off!) so I bought a replacement. It would be nice if they lasted the life of the vehicle, but that's just not the standard for aftermarket and towing electronics - presumably because we consumers are so cost-sensitive. Now I've sold that truck and bought a new Tacoma. After installing the "plug and play" adapter, I find the tail and clearance lights are bit dim (6 bulbs total on the trailer) and while the factory setup has enough power to power either turn signals, it can't do the emergency flashers. So it's time to buy another 119176. 3432

Appreciate your positivity although it seems you had some disappointments..

With that number of lights, depending on the bulbs, the 119190 might be a better solution. It will support a greater light load than will the 119176. It probably would have lasted longer on his older F-150 too.

Product doesn’t work. Installed correctly right signal connection tested good in car but there was a short in the amplifier box which turned the left signal on with left or right signal activation. Horrible costumer service. They are charging me to return it. I am a repeat customer but will never buy from them again. 504391

To test the if the converter box is bad, you can use a tester and test the incoming function on the wires, and the make sure that same function is transmitted through the converter box. If it is not, then the converter box is bad.

I'm only sorry I didn't take photos of the installation of the trailer wiring. I have to say, it was the easiest most enjoyable install I may have ever done of this kind. I'm not the handiest when it comes to this type of thing, but coupled with the complete wiring and hardware setup, it really made all the difference. The video that accompanied my specific vehicle also made a world of difference, major high marks for this. The only thing that may have helped was a bit longer wire for the passenger side (green) wire, but that's probably not even worth mentioning though I did. I'm putting together a tow package for hauling a light motorcycle trailer, so I figured I'd try this myself and I'm glad I did, great instructions make all the difference! These guys include everything right down to the wire ties and it's all top quality heavy gauge wire. Thanks again and I'll be using you guys for sure in the near future. Graham 240723

Thanks for the follow-up. All is well with the wiring, its also strange synchronicity as I just bought a little trailer last week and for the first time in a year I used my new wiring harness again. Perfect, thanks again!

2013 Kia Soul

I bought the Draw-tite hitch and the Modulite wiring harness for my new 2013 KIA Soul and was overall very pleased with the service and the product ..... I'm glad I watched the installation videos when I ordered the items as I was unable to find them when I went back in to doublecheck a couple of details ..... the Modulite wiring harness did not come with any instructions at all ! And the hitch instructions didn't show the secret trick about lowering the muffler .... the videos were VERY helpful but I don't understand why I couldn't find them when I went back in ( admittedly, on a different computer ) to check .... But everything went together very well and is working perfectly ! E-trailer was very prompt, very competetively priced, and very helpful with their online videos ..... thanx, E-trailer ! 89335

Did your kia soul have led lighting? If so which brand did you buy and was it easy to run all the wires with go results. thanks jack

You can use the 119179KIT harness with both LED light and non-LED versions of the Soul. Since the 119179 harness has its own power feed, the LED lights would be protected. We have installed the kit on a 2013 Soul and shot a video of it that I have linked below. If you let me know what year Soul you are working with and whether or not yours is LED, I can check to see if there are other options.

I purchased a class 2 Draw-tite hitch, drawbar with 3 1/2 " rise, 1 7/8 ball, and the circuit protected modulite 4 pole harness kit for my 1991 Chrysler New Yorker. The shipping was incredibly fast. Everything fit well and easy install. I saved $200.00 installing it myself. Now I'll be able to tow my 14 ft aluminum fishing boat and catch me some nice trout. Thank's for the good products and fast shipping. Here's some pics. You can't even see the hitch unless the drawbar and ball are on. Lou 39159

Toyota 4Runner

Where do I start? About a year ago I purchased a trailer adapter for my 4Runner after recommendation from etrailer employee who helped me navigate the website. So I proceeded to install but then I noticed that turn signals and brake lights come on only intermittently. After thoroughly checking my work and all of the wiring on the trailer, even tried my buddy’s trailer only to show the same symptoms. I get on the phone w etrailer and describe the issues, to which their reply was maybe the adapter is defective and we will send you a new one. I agreed and went ahead to install second new adapter but there was still no changes. It was only a third time I spoke to yet another “specialist” at the etrailer who noticed that my truck needs a 6 wire harness adapter and that 6th wire goes directly to the battery. In conclusion my truck needed constant power from the battery for that adapter to work, because apparently there wasn’t enough juice for the 5 wire adapter to power brake and signal lights consistently. Ended up paying extra $60 for adapter with an extra wire and that fixed the issue, my turn signals and brake lights come on every time. After spending close to 20-30 hours tearing plastics on the truck, then installing back and forth 3 times diagnosing and testing, in the hindsight I wish i reached out to local shop or trailer store and probably saved me much headache. 646537

Was having difficult time finding a shop to install trailer hitch wiring on my Land Rover. Professional install shops who would offer to install quoted very high prices. Watched installation video for 119179KIT for 2010 Land Rover online. Bought your KIT and I installed as per video in about two hours. Could do another install probably in half the time. KIT included everything I needed except about two more feet of 'green' wire to reach passenger side tail light assembly on the Land Rover. Completed installation and ran test on wiring system with everything checking OK! Had a great time doing the install and would highly recommend your products to others. Thank You! 664246

Installed this on 2008 Mercury Marquis. The kit was easy to install and there was plenty of wire to get from the trunk to the battery on this long car. Love the built in fuse for safety. I have only used it a couple time to pull around my 4x8 trailer but, it seem to work well. All the turn signals work and because it powers itself the light on the car are unaffected. 876736

I used the [online] video for the installation since i have an LR2 and it was super easy. The only thing I purchased which did not work for me as it did in the video were the butt connectors. the blue clasps worked way better. The butt connectors were really hard to pinch and did not melt like in the video so i got rid of them. 872318

The product works as advertised. Installation of trailer wiring is always a challenge, this wasn't too bad. I chose to run the supply wire inside the car as I've done in the past, it takes longer but the wire is protected better. 790154

The instructions that came with the kit were inadequate. It was not clear where wires from the trailer light power converter connected to the car. I did find a generic diagram on the website that cleared up that issue and got the job done ( Y=L Sig, G=R Sig, br=Run, R=Brk). It works. The whole job, including looking stuff up on the website took about three hours. It included quite a bit of trim removal and replacement in the rear of the car (a Volvo V70). 782375

Hi Never finished installing it as I was also putting on a hitch as well and ran out of time -- I will finish it this spring sometime(2020). I do remember wishing it was more plug n play when I purchased this but i could not find a version of that at the time. I would have payed more for one that had the inline connectors. I gave it only 3 stars as it did not have the in line connectors - this day and age that should be that standard. I would go out and get a new version but I already have the power line run witch is about half the work. Cheers 770003

The wiring harness is GREAT, has worked well. The instructions were not 100% clear. 1. Do I leave the RED wire from the vehicle unconnected, 2. Drivers side tail light, Where do I connect the YELLOW and BROWN Converter wires. 3. Passenger side tail light, What do I connect GREEN converter wire to? 4. It would be great to run the power wire from the battery inside the vehicle instead of below the vehicle, do you have instructions for this? 765372

In the instructions, I would focus on the section labeled TOW VEHICLE INPUTS - DETERMINATION. This will help outline which wires are used for what function.
