Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2000 Buick Century

Today on this 2000 Buick Century we are going to install part number 18252. To wire the vehicle up we are going to have to get to the back of the tail lights and the wire harness is ran up behind here and into the tail light. We are going to have to go to both sides of the vehicle and right now we are looking at the driver side. What we are going to do is take off the fasteners that hold this cover in place so you can get back to the wires. You can see the wires that go in the tail lights will be pretty easy. We will peel back the electric tape so we can get access to the wires. We have got the wires bare, now we will test which wire does what function. First we will start of with the running lights. The kit comes with a supplied light tester so that looks like the running light circuit so that is going to be brown so we will hook up our wire to the 4-pole and the running light on the 4-pole will be brown also. Slide on the scotch lock that comes with the kit and run the brown wire next to it and we will squeeze it with the pliers and we are good to go. 01:04

Now we will look for the left turn signal and that will be our left turn so we will hook up the yellow wire to the green wire. Next we will work on the ground and that will be the white wire and we are going to use a ring terminal to attach to that and just attach to the sheet metal right here. Next we will peel back the green wire and we are going to run that over to the passenger side of the vehicle and make the same connections again. Turn on the right turn signal and check the green wire again and see if that is the same on both sides. It looks like that is the right turn signal and we will make our connection there too. To use the harness with the trailer just pull out a little bit of it and just stay away from the latch and just shut your trunk on it. Then you can pull out what you need down to your trailer. When you are not using it just keep it inside the trunk. There you have it for part number 18252.

No problems, whatsoever! Good product for the price. I especially loved the fact that one could watch the video online on how to install it. Thanks!

Class III hitch for my 86 Monte Carlo SS was received in 4 shipping days in good order. I appreciated the feedback on shipping and delivery dates. Hitch is well constructed. Welds are "text book" quality and the powder coating looks great. Bolted right up with no problems but required slight modification to the dual tailpipes as stated in the literature. I am very happy with my purchase. 37047

Your product was easy to install and works fine. However, one thing that I think would be a good idea, would be to include a set of installation instructions with the product. I didn't know that the metal tabs on the connectors had to be pushed all the way down before snapping the plastic hinge over the top of the tab. A friend of mine informed me of that. 146842

The product is excellent quality wise. The delivery was prompt and well packaged. Just for reference if you have a 2001 Focus you will need an adapter to combine the brake signal with the turn signal. Otherwise very satisfied. Thank you... 138751

The order arrived without an instruction sheet and without the promised circuit tester. I was not pleased. I will install the harness as I need to use it immediately, but it will require a trip to a shop that I may not have had to make. 57672

  • What Trailer Hitches Will Fit a 2006 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
  • For the 2006 Ford Mustang GT, we list 2 possible trailer hitch options. First is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24747. Next we have the Hidden Hitch, # 60809. Neither hitch will accept the Invisi-Hitch, # 28451. Also, these hitches will not fit the GT/CS (California Special), Shelby GT, or GT500. Both hitches install the same and have the same specs: 200 pounds tongue weight capacity and 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight capacity. Both are Class I trailer hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. • Recommended Trailer Harness for 2003 Ford F-150
  • If your 2003 Ford F-150 came from the factory with the 4-Way flat connector, then your truck already has a towing package wired in. In this case I would recommend 7-Way connect part # 118242. A 7-Way will allow you to tow trailers with 7-Way wiring systems and brakes. You can still use it with 4-Way trailers by using an adapter like part # 47345. Built into this adapter is a circuit tester to make sure truck wiring is hooked up properly. If you strictly want to use a 4-Way, then the...

  • Installing Brake Controller 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
  • The Explorer Sport Trac models were not pre wired for a brake controller from the factory. Does the vehicle already have a 4-pole trailer connector? If not, you can install one using part # 18252. To install your brake controller we offer an installation kit, part # ETBC6 for a 6-way trailer connector, or part # ETBC7 for a 7-way connector. The install kit includes everything needed to complete the install, including an adapter to convert your 4-pole trailer connector to a 6 or 7-way....

  • Availability of a Trailer Wiring Harness To Fit A 1986 Nissan D21 Hardbody Truck
  • If you have the mid-year 1986.5 Nissan Hardbody that has the two large headlights rather than the four smaller lights on the older model, you can use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118353, to install a 4-Way at the rear of your vehicle. The # 118353 wiring harness will plug into the back of your vehicles taillights. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the # 118353 wiring harness. If your vehicle is not the 1986.5 or newer model, you will need to hardwire...

  • Signal Lights Not Working on a 2001 Ford F-250
  • I do know that the 7-Way replacement connector # 118242 that we offer for the 2001 Ford F-250 light duty models will include the necessary relays and fuses for installation, so the flasher issue could very well be that you are missing a required fuse or relay. This would be something you could check with Ford. Please note that the 118242 wiring harness is only a fit for the F-250 light duty models. If your vehicle is a Super Duty model and is equipped with a factory tow package, you...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Installation For a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
  • If you have the bare wires that are connected to the vehicle lighting circuits, but just need the 4-Way connector, then you can use the Draw-Tite 4-Way Hardwire Kit, part # 18252, that you have referenced. This will tap into your loose wires and give you a 4-Way connector on the rear of your vehicle. To add a complete wiring harness and 4-Way trailer connector, you would need Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118312. I have included a link to the installation details below. To...

  • Can Masterlock Wireless Backup Camera and Hitch Alignment System # 4843DAT Connect to Reverse Lights
  • The Master Lock Wireless Backup Camera and Hitch Alignment System, # 4843DAT, is designed with a 4-Way that plugs into your existing 4-Way trailer connector, so as it is, it will require turning on the running lights to operate. It is not recommended to splice into the reverse light circuit or cut off the connector when installing the camera . It will also void the warranty if installed in this way. The way around this is instead of cutting the plug off of the camera, you could use...

  • How to Convert the 7-Way RV Connector on a Ford Truck For Towing a Trailer with 4-Way Flat Wiring
  • You have two options for towing your trailer with a 4-Way flat connector. The easiest option is to use an adapter that allows you to plug the 4-Way connector into it and then plug the adapter into the 7-Way RV style trailer connector on your truck. The Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Pole Connector Adapter, # PK12716, would work great for this application. The second option would be to use a 4-Way Hardwire Kit, # 18252, and hard wire a 4-Way connector under the vehicle. Use the included circuit...
