Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Wiring 18252 Review

Today we're going to review part number 18252. This is the Draw-Tite Hardwire Kit with the circuit tester and 72-inch long four-way flat connector for the vehicle end. Now this part will provide a four-way flat trailer connector, the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It connects very quickly and easily. It'll supply all these connections, you'll hard wire it to give you the taillight, stop and turn functions and they are also printed on the wires so you know what colors go to which. Now when you do install or hard wire it, this does include a circuit tester which you'll want to use. You don't always want to wire color to color because sometimes that always doesn't match up correctly so what you'll want to do is take your included circuit tester, test the wires in your vehicle, and what you'll be testing, first of all the white wire, it'll be your ground wire.

Now the brown wire will be for the tail lights, the yellow would be for the driver's side stop and turn, and the green would be for the passenger side stop and turn. When you use your circuit tester, test the wires on your vehicle once you find which matches up with which, you can use these included quick connectors to attach the wires to there, just give you the four-way at the back of your vehicle. Now it does use 18-gauge bonded wire. The wire here, the connector length is about 72 inches long. The maximum amperage on this, the stop and turn light circuit, is 7.5 amps, per circuit, the tail light is 7.5 also but again this includes everything shown here, it includes the 72 inch long four-way flat connector for the vehicle end, the circuit tester and four quick connectors. That should do it for the review on part number 18252, the Draw-Tite Hardwire Kit with the circuit tester and the 72 inch long four-way flat connector for the vehicle end.

Class III hitch for my 86 Monte Carlo SS was received in 4 shipping days in good order. I appreciated the feedback on shipping and delivery dates. Hitch is well constructed. Welds are "text book" quality and the powder coating looks great. Bolted right up with no problems but required slight modification to the dual tailpipes as stated in the literature. I am very happy with my purchase. 37047

Your product was easy to install and works fine. However, one thing that I think would be a good idea, would be to include a set of installation instructions with the product. I didn't know that the metal tabs on the connectors had to be pushed all the way down before snapping the plastic hinge over the top of the tab. A friend of mine informed me of that. 146842

The product is excellent quality wise. The delivery was prompt and well packaged. Just for reference if you have a 2001 Focus you will need an adapter to combine the brake signal with the turn signal. Otherwise very satisfied. Thank you... 138751

  • Wiring Needed to Flat Tow a 2008 Hummer H3 Behind a Motor Home
  • For your 2008 Hummer H3, you have a few options for wiring it to be flat towed behind the RV. I have included a link to the options for you. Out of the options, the diode kit, part # RM-154, would be an ideal long term lighting solution. The wiring plugs into the converter and one set of wires connects to the right side vehicle tail lights and the other wire bundle goes to the left side vehicle tail lights. The 4-Way end then connects to the RV. You can use an adapter like # PK12716...

  • Trailer Running Lights Not Working When Connected to 4-Pole Harness # 18252 on 2007 Ford F-150
  • The first step for troubleshooting your 4-pole installation is to check that the lighting functions on the vehicle itself are operating correctly. This needs to be checked first since the part you referenced, Draw-Tite 4-Pole Hardwire Kit # 18252, relies on input signals from the vehicle lights to send output signals to the trailer. If the vehicle lights are not working properly you will need to get those fixed first. Once you have confirmed the vehicle light functions are all okay you...

  • Parts Needed to Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller to a 1972 Chevrolet Pickup
  • We have everything that you will need to add a 7-way trailer connector and a brake controller for trailer brakes to your 1972 Chevrolet pickup. You will need a 4-Way Wiring Kit, # 18252, the 7-way and 4-way Installation Kit, # ETBC7, and a brake controller, I recommend the Prodigy P2, # 90885. The first thing to do is to install the 4-way wiring kit, # 18252. This kit includes a wiring harness with a 4-flat trailer connector, a circuit tester and 4 quick splices. To install this wiring...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van
  • The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van is the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader, part # 41533. This is a Class lll trailer hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. This is designed to work with vans that have a standard bumper. There is no drilling required when installing the hitch. It uses existing holes in the vehicle frame. If you have a factory step bumper on your van the trailer hitch you can use is part # 75140. This is also a Class lll hitch with a 2-inch receiver....

  • Installing 4-Pole/7-Way Trailer Connector on Newmar Motorhome
  • There is not an off-the-shelf adapter that would convert your existing 7-way flat blade to a 7-way and 4-pole, but there are some fairly easy options for adding a 4-pole. You can access the wiring harness leading to the existing 7-way, and tap in a 4-pole harness like part # 18252, which would allow you to use both harnesses simultaneously. The connector includes a circuit tester which would help identify which circuit serves which lighting function. Another option would be to completely...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2000 Ford F-150
  • There is a Draw Tite hitch available for your 2000 Ford F-150, but the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75096 that you referenced is designed to fit Ford Explorers and would not work for you. For your vehicle I would recommend the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75740. This hitch is compatible with your full sized spare too. I attached a picture of this hitch installed with the full sized spare in place as well as an install video and installation instructions for you to check out. To complete your...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Reciver for 2016 Ford F-150
  • I suggest using the Curt # C13118 for a trailer hitch receiver on your 2016 Ford F-150. This is a 2 inch, Class III hitch with a gross towing weight of 6,000 pounds and maximum tongue weight of 600 pounds. It includes all the necessary hardware to bolt it to your truck. I've linked an installation video for you. If you prefer a hitch that has a higher weight rating, the Curt # C14016 is a Class IV, 2 inch hitch rated at 10,000 towing and 1,000 pounds tongue weight. This hitch is...

  • 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 Ford F-250
  • Reese, Draw-Tite, and Hidden Hitch are all the same manufacturer so if you wanted to stick with that brand you could use # 41922 which will fit a 2001 Ford F-250 with a standard/step bumper. It is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight (12,000 when used with weight distribution). The B&W hitch # BWHDRH25230 will also fit models with the standard/step bumper. Since your truck has 16 inch tires and assuming the spare is the same or at least an 18 or smaller then you will not have...

  • Installing Brake Controller 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
  • The Explorer Sport Trac models were not pre wired for a brake controller from the factory. Does the vehicle already have a 4-pole trailer connector? If not, you can install one using part # 18252. To install your brake controller we offer an installation kit, part # ETBC6 for a 6-way trailer connector, or part # ETBC7 for a 7-way connector. The install kit includes everything needed to complete the install, including an adapter to convert your 4-pole trailer connector to a 6 or 7-way....
