I purchased this for a swivel trailer I built. The coil is plenty tight to eliminate any dragging on the ground. I'd give an A++ for quality. 763978

I have ordered from etrailer before and they have never disappointed me. 738995

Worked perfect. Completes the wiring for my winch, brakes, and lights on my trailer. 182225

Quality in every respect EXCEPT the coil has too much tension which will pull either male connector out of the female plug. Mine did on first drive and wore the core down to the copper wires. I've now had to physically tie each end to a vehicle to prohibit this. 480555

etrailer is probably the best one stop trailer solution on the web. I just fabricated my own deck over dovetail tailed from scratch. I ordered just about everything I needed for the build. The sales staff are very knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend etrialer to anyone weather your rebuilding your trailer or fabricating a new trailer, they pretty much have everything your looking for with very good pricing and they stand behind every product they sell. 359316

Great trailer cable! I wont be worried about my wiring rubbing the ground anymore. Be sure to test the wiring not all colors matched my trailer. Which is fine since I tested before installing. 377817

These solved the problem of always hanging on the sides of the trailer while turning. Great product. 864083

The wire is still working just like it should after a year. Was stiff as could be when I first bought it was pretty upset when it pulled tight enough to bust the trailer plug housing on my truck but it's relaxed more over time and works great I should have secured it better to force it to stretch without putting pressure on my outlet. I'd buy again. 817192

Very robust and still flexible, perfect replacement. 793711

The wiring seems to be of good quality but the the plug end is not. It is so loose it constantly loses contact with vehicle recepticle or just comes unpluged. I am going to cut the plug off and replace it with a higher quality plug that fits. 785949

I used this cord on a flat bed trailer I was refurbishing. I just came back with the trail from a trip to Northwestern Wyoming where I did some snowmobiling. I was impressed that the cord was still flexible at -11F. This is exceeded my expectation. - Tim. K. 763044

Also doubles as a piece of gym equipment for a great upper body resistance work-out! I'm glad I ordered the longer 8-foot version. The cable is heavy-duty and really stiff. Un-stretched is only about 3-feet; you'll want the extra length. Looks like it will do the job. 578891

  • How Long is the 8 Foot Cord # 54006-044 when Coiled Not Stretched?
The Bargman 7-Way, RV-Style Connector w/ 8' Long Coiled Cable - Trailer End # 54006-044 is 13 inches at the coil then 10 inches at the connector and 7 inches at the pigtail. We also have the coiled 6 foot # WG54006-043 and the coiled 12 foot # WG54006-046 which will only be longer or shorter in the coiled section.

  • How To Match Wires Function-To-Function To Install Tekonsha Bargman 7-Way Connector
There is a "color" chart for the Tekonsha Bargman 7-Way Connector with Coiled Cable, Item # 54006-044, that is below: White--Ground Red--Left Turn and Brake Brown--Right Turn and Brake Green--Tail Lights Blue--Brake Power Black--12 Volt Yellow--Auxiliary However, manufacturers do not have a color standard for wiring and often change them so you will need to connect function-to-function and not necessarily color-to-color. When connecting function-to-function, you will need to...

  • How Far Will The 54006-044 Actually Stretch?
I went out to our warehouse with a collegue and we measured the cord for you. At it's very longest with a lot of pressure on both ends, we measured 9 feet 4 inches from plug end to the end of the pigtail wires. Now, that is with enough force to probably unplug the connection from the trailer, but it will stretch a little more than the 8 feet, which I assume is why you are asking. it is guaranteed to stretch and function at 8 feet.

  • Recommended Coiled 7-Way Trailer Connection Wire for 5th Wheel Trailer
The Bargman 7-Way, RV-Style Connector w/ 8' Long Coiled Cable - Trailer End # 54006-044 is 8 foot long when fully stretched. The coil keeps some slight tension to keep the cable from dragging, but it will work very well for your 5th wheel connection. With your socket on the rear end sidewall, this 8 foot cable will not be overkill for length and will have more than enough travel so I recommend this over a shorter option. The 7-way connector will have a clip that will help keep this firmly...

  • What Gauge Wire is Used in Bargman 7-Way, RV-Style Connector 54006-044
We actually have the wire gauges listed on the product page for coiled 7-Way # 54006-044. The green, red, brown, and yellow wires are all 14 gauge. The Blue wire is 12 gauge. And the black and white wires are both 10 gauge.

  • Could 7-Way PK12706 be Wired to Coiled 7-Way Adapter 54006-044
It sounds like you are asking if you could cut the 7-way off of the # 54006-044 and then wire it to the Pollak 7-Way part # PK12706. If so, that answer to that is yes. The Pollak would fit the 7-way wiring of the adapter and would work well.

  • Parts Needed to Make a Coiled 6-Way Square to 7-Way Blade Adapter
Yes, when making the adapter if you wanted to use the coiled part # 54006-044 instead of the part # H20042 that is straight you certainly could. Either would work well with the part # 37995 to make the needed adapter.

  • Recommendation to make Trailer 7-Way Longer
The closest adapter we have to what you need is the Torklift part # TLW6021. This is a 7-way adapter that has a male end on one side and a female on the other. It measures a little longer than you requested at 24 inches though. Your ideal solution would be to remove your current 7-way and install a longer one on your trailer like with the part # H20042 that is a 3 foot long 7-way plug and lead. You could trim this down to match your trailer length needs as well.

  • Coiled Wiring Adapter Recommendation with 6-Way Round Connectors
The closest thing we have to the part # 54006-044 that you referenced in a 6-way configuration is the part # HM47055 that has a 6-way round on either end of it. Or for a setup with a 6-way round on one end and a 7-way on the other you would want the part # HM47053.

  • Tow Bar Wiring for a 2004 Jeep Liberty
There are special wiring harnesses used when flat towing a vehicle. The easiest way to integrate a 7-Way would be to use Blue Ox bulb and socket kit # BX8869. You could use Hopkins harness # HM56203 which just plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring. Then you could just use a 7- to 4-Way adapter on...

Stretching the 7-Way Trailer Connector # WG54006-043 to 6 feet isn't the best option for you. It'll reach 6 feet but the coils are fairly tight. I extended it easily to about 4 feet but beyond that it wanted to fight me. It'll loosen up over time of course but I think a longer cable would be better for you. The 8 foot long # 54006-044 is a better choice. Or if you want to really make sure you can reach there's a 12 foot, part # WG54006-046, but then it'll hang lower to the ground.
