Video Transcript for Bargman 7-Way Molded Connector Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable. Also available in a 10, 18, and 22 feet length. Here's what our cable looks like installed. Now the main reason your going to need a new cable like this one is because if you didn't adequately have the slack tied up when your towing your trailer, it can drag on the ground, causing abrasion, causing a short and it won't work properly anymore.Hooking up to our tow vehicle is as simple as lifting our door, making sure the notch on our cable faces up to push it in. And then the latch on the door will grab the tab and hold it in place. So you don't have to worry about it getting pulled out.

Well, one thing that's nice about this connector, compared to others on the market, is that when we need to unplug from our truck, we have these nice finger tabs here to get an easy grip on it, as we pull out.Now one thing that sets this cable apart from others in the market, is where the end of our cable meets our seven way connector, right here. It's molded together. And this will prevent moisture from getting inside, offering a superior weather resistance, and we don't have to worry about corrosion happening where the wires are connected to our terminals inside the connector. This will cause better electrical performance over the course of time. This thick insulation will provide protection from the elements, and also will help protect it from abrasion if it we're to rub against something. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.

We need to locate the junction box where our wiring connections are made. In our particular case, this is our junction box in our trailer. You'll typically find this near the front. Remove the lid. We'll now remove the nuts on all of our terminals, that hold our wires in place.

Now in our particular case, our factory seven way wire comes into the top here, and all the connections are these top connectors right here. So, we'll one at a time remove the terminals that cover up those wires, then remove those wires themselves and place back on the ones on the bottom that cover them up. This way, we can easily make our connection without becoming confused.Okay, now that we have all seven of our wires disconnected from the terminals on our junction box, we can pull those away, remove our grommet from those wires, you'll keep the grommet, then we'll remove the cable from the trailer. We've gone ahead and routed our new cable through the cable retainer on our frame, and we'll install the ends into our grommet. Okay, we installed our grommet back into our junction box, like the way it was originally.

Now we'll cut off the excess of our wires. Strip out the installation. And we'll crimp on new rain terminals which we have available on our website to each one of the wires. And we'll place them on to the corresponding stud where they belong. This blue wire here, that's for our electric trailer break output. So I'll put that one to the terminal that's label for our electric brakes. Next one's our green wire, and that one is for our tail lights. We'll do our brown wire next. That one's for our right turn signal. Your yellow wire next. That's for a reverse white output, or reverse yellow one for hydraulic trailer brakes, if your trailer had hydraulic brakes. Now we'll do a red wire. That one's for our left turn signal. Now we'll do our black wire. That's for our constant 12 volt power. That leaves us with the white wire. That's our ground wire. Now we'll reinstall all of our nuts. So, with all of our connections now made, we'll reinstall our cover. Now we'll test our our wiring by taking our plug and going into a tester. You can also plug it into the back of your truck. And we'll test out all of our functions. Now we'll start by turning our tail lights on. Okay, those are working good. Now we'll try our brake lights. Brake lights are working good. Do a right turn signal now. That's working good. Try out a left turn signal. That's working great. And that completes our look at and installation of the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable, part number 50-67-103.

Can't tell you anything about the product yet but if its anything like the other products I have gotten from etrailer they will be fantastic. I can say that if I need trailer parts I will always get them from etrailer.com, your products are great and you guys always ship freaky fast! Amazon could learn a thing or two from your shipping department. I also lie the way you are in constant communication with your customers regarding order status, just amazing!! Tanks for the outstanding job. 54314

This is a very good trailer pigtail. It has metal sprung contacts that maintains contact very well. Other pigtails use rubber to make the contacts stay connected and it melts and losses contact. This is truly the best molded trailer plug. 518329

Exactly what I was looking for. My old cable was only 8' long and would barely reach using it with an equalizer hitch on my Airstream. This was the original brand, just longer. 225841

Comments
Still works great after a year. Nice to have the extra length when using an equalizing hitch.

Great product.... reason for changing installed a battery in my cargo trailer which would charge of my truck. This would eliminate leaving my trailer plugged into my truck draining the battery when my interior lights were on in the trailer for periods of a time. It was easier to cut and splice in new harness. Make sure you get the correct length. Also went to a seven pin direct connect to truck rather than using adapter from seven to four pin to match trailer plug..... again great product. 477641

The product was shipped quickly, although I had a few delays in getting it all hooked up. I am using this pigtail to connect from my 2019 Ram 3500 to a slide in truck camper using a 7 pin connector. It was helpful to have the color coding wire table to assist me. 726117

  • Available 10-Foot Trailer-Side 7-Way Plug
We do have molded trailer-side 7-way plugs in several lengths. For a 10-foot you can use part # 50-67-005. If you prefer a 10-foot that includes a junction box for connecting your trailer wiring you can instead use part # 277-000141. If you need ring terminals you can use # 44-5310A.

  • Adding Electric Trailer Brakes to a 3,500 Pound 2001 Car Mate Trailer
The first thing to check for on the trailer is whether or not it has brake mounting flanges welded to the ends of the axles. A brake mounting flange on a 3,500 pound axle would look like # 4-35. If there are no brake mounting flanges they would have to be installed to add brakes to the trailer. The brake assemblies do not come with hub and drum assemblies so those would have to be purchased separately based on the bearing numbers on the current trailer hubs. The bearing numbers are stamped...

  • How to Determine Wiring Functions of 7-Way Wires on a Truck
I don't know the color codes for your trailer connector so you will need to use a circuit test like part # PTW2993 to determine the function of each wire, label them, and then wire to the 7-way. Or you can use the chart I attached to see where the functions of each pin on your 7-way should be and then use the previous wiring locations of the 7-way to determine the functions of each wire.

  • Could EZ Connector Pogo Cable Holder Help with Fifth Wheel Wiring that Breaks around Corners
The EZ Connector Pogo Trailer Cable Holder # 319-TCP011602 that you referenced can be installed on fifth wheel trailers like what you have but if you are breaking trailer wiring when making sharp turns that indicates to me that you have too short of a wiring harness. I'm not sure what length you have now but we have the part # A10-7W6 which is 6 feet long, # H20046 which is 8 feet long, and # 50-67-005 which is 10 feet long. Another option is the # 54006-044 which is an 8 foot coiled...

  • Can 7-Way be Spliced Into Equinox Flat Tow Wiring
You will need an adapter as opposed to splicing in the 7-Way Molded Connector # 50-67-005. For example the RoadMaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit # RM-146-7 will connect your RV's 7-pole to the 6-pole round on your 2014 Chevy Equinox. There is also an adapter, the Mighty Cord 7-Blade to 6-Pole Connector Adapter # A10-7276VP that is a possibility if don't need any type of extension like the Flexo-Coil Kit provides. We have the very similar part # 50-67-005 which is basically just a 10 foot version of the part number you referenced. The 50-67-616 is just a 7-way plug and lead like the one I referenced with only a 6 foot long section of wiring. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Adapting a 7-Way on a 2003 Chevy Silverado to a 6-Way Round Trailer Connector on Big Tex Trailer
If your 2003 Chevy Silverado has a 7-Way connector I recommend keeping the 7-Way that you have # 50-67-005, and using it to replace the 6-Way on the trailer. A 6-Way is not nearly as common as a 7-Way blade style connector. You just have to determine the functions of the wires on the trailer and wire them to the new 7-Way accordingly. The functions on the 7-Way should be as follows: White Wire = Ground Red Wire = Left Turn and Brake Brown Wire = Right Turn and Brake Green Wire...
