I have had the exact opposite experience. The straps are all solid and strong and the kayaks are rock solid on there. They even included little rubber tubes for padding for the front and aft tie-downs. In addition to many local trips, I drove 8 hours each way to Michigan last summer and the rack was perfect. 38895

Good product. Always am a little nervous that they will slip on the rack but they never have. (This is b/c we mixed Yakima on this one with different manufacturer for the rack and Yakima is built to be multipurpose so not perfect fit.) That said, nothing but success so far. 464599

Strap Failure After First Use Put two kayak on my roof (tandem and single about 12' long to transport 400 miles. The sticks are easy to install, however out of the box one strap kept slipping and another frayed almost completely. Thank good I had secured the load with my own strapping since I did not trust the Yakama straps. Also, you need a buddy to load with you since the kayaks want to slide away from the sticks. 3200

Where do I start? I've been whitewater kayaking for 22 or so years now. I've always used used either Yakima or Thule products... Until I bought a 2015 Nissan Rogue with a naked roof. The curvature of the roof and large door jams mean that Yakima and Thule can't make racks for them. I went to a place that does custom installs and again because of the curvature of the roof, they couldn't give me a rack. This meant no kayaking which is really bad news. Enter the Rhino rack system. I purchased the feet, the fit kit, the cross bars and a Yakima "big stack" stacker. The first issue I had is the reccomended size for the Nissan Rogue is only 48 inches. Way too small too haul 4-5 (very light) whitewater kayaks. I called etrailer and they were SUPER helpful, told me I can buy the 65 in cross bars and they'll work fine. I held my breath and placed my order. I was nervous leaving my trusted name brands. The order arrived super fast (they told me it would arrive by Friday but it actually arrived on Thursday) and everything was packaged rock solid. I was impressed. I read the instructions and put the rack system on my car. It took about a hour (it was hot and I worked slowly) but the rack system is SUPER SOLID. I love it. Rhino might have a "forever" customer out of me. -The rack system is very stable. I can't move it with my hands by pushing or pulling. -The rubber stripping you put on the top and bottom of the bar is an awesome added feature AND it reduces wind noise. -Adding the fairing reduced wind noise even further. With four boats on the roof you couldn't hear any extra noise. The ONE thing I dislike is that you need to use the supplied Allen wrench to take the rack on and off the car. It's a small complaint, but other systems I've used in the past don't have them. I paid much less for this system than I would have if I purchased one of the aforementioned systems, but I'm really really satisfied with the product. We will see how well it holds up over long-term use, but it looks awesome! 411249

Worked great on our Subaru Crosstrek with factory crossbars. Loading very easy, and it was very secure, for our 2 kayaks. The Yakima Big Sticks are easy to install/setup and take off. Very happy with our investment, 815515

The product quality can speak for itself, but i was extremely satisfied with the turn around time. i received my package in plenty of time for a planned camping trip. Also your customer service was top notch. i got a phone call checking my address for shipping and thought it was really great that someone was actually handling my order with care and it wasn't just me and a computer. So thanks alot. I'll for sure be using this service in the future 427046

I acquired a second kayak and needed a system to fit the factory racks on my 2011 Toyota RAV4. Etrailer.com has always had information on what fits and has always had the item needed for the job. I attached the Yakima BigStack to the top with ease, and, with one other person to hold the kayaks while I secured, tied two of them down for a long road trip to Northern Minnesota. The system worked just fine. The only caveat was in the configuration of multiple boats in the instructions. The diagram has two boats on the same side of the posts, however, I found it more secure to put one on either side ( other reviews of this product on different Internet sites have found similar results.) The boats made it through the trip with no shifting. 140503

One year later: Still using the system and have had no problems thus far. As always, I recommend etrailer.com for any racks and accessories you may need no, Im not employed by them, Ive just always found exactly what I need with them.

Difficult for one person to load kayaks on roof. You need more than two hands. Used it once - will now buy used racks, one for each kayak. 83408

  • Best Kayak Carrier for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek With Factory Roof Rack
The best kayak carrier for your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek with factory crossbars to carry a pair of kayaks is the Yakima BigStack Roof Mounted 2 Kayak Carrier System # Y04041. I confirmed with Yakima this carrier will fit the crossbars on your Crosstrek; the BigStack # Y04041 will comfortably haul a pair of 10' kayaks. It comes with enough tie-down straps and bow/stern tie-downs for both kayaks although you may need Yakima Hood Anchors # Y07416 if your Crosstrek does not have built-in tie-down...

  • Recommended Carrier Secure 2 Kayaks on 2006 Nissan Xterra with Factory Roof Rack
We have actually verified with Yakima that their BigStack 2 Kayak Carrier System # Y04041 is confirmed to fit the larger factory crossbars on your 2006 Nissan Xterra. This is a perfect system for you because not only will it let you secure both of your kayaks but its mounting design doesn't take up a lot of space so you shouldn't have any trouble fitting two kayaks on the factory rack of your Xterra, which is a bit limited in terms of space because the bars sit flush with the side rails....

  • Carrying a Kayak and Paddleboard at the Same Time on a 2008 Honda Accord Sedan
I have a couple of questions which the answers to will help me make the best recommendations. First, does your 2008 Honda Accord have a roof rack now? If so how wide/thick are the crossbars? If it does not have a roof rack is the Accord a 2- or 4-door? Are you wanting to carry the kayak and the board at the same time? And for the board is it a paddleboard, surf board, wake board, or another type of board?

This will allow you to carry 2, 3, or 4 kayaks as you stated but will require additional straps for more than 2 kayaks. I've attached a photo from the instructions to show...

  • How to Carry 2 Kayaks on the Roof of a 1999 Subaru Forester
It looks like the weight capacity of the factory roof rack or an aftermarket rack that attaches to the front to back side rails is 150 pounds. So as far as weight capacity goes you will be able to load two 52 pound kayaks on the roof. IF you have the factory crossbars that run side to side you could either use a couple of J-style carriers such as 2 of # 59912 or just 1 of the Yakima BigStack # Y04041. • Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2018 Toyota 4Runner with Factory Crossbars
The factory crossbars of your 2018 Toyota 4Runner sit very close to the roof of your vehicle so not every kayak carrier we offer will fit. The real bummer is that all of the assisted carriers we offer are not a fit due to the tight clearance. Best option we have would be the Thule Hull-a-Port part # TH848 which is a confirmed fit (I checked with Thule) and is one of the easier to load carriers.
