Video Transcript for Malone Watersport Carriers Review - 2012 Toyota 4Runner

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Toyota 4-Runner we're going to be test fitting the Malone J-Pro Kayak Carrier with Tie Downs, part number MPG116MD. The Malone J-Pro Kayak Carrier enables you to carry up to one kayak on your roof-rack and leaves enough space on the other side for other accessories, such as rooftop bike racks. Comes with all the straps and tie downs necessary to secure to your vehicle, such as the tie downs here, which do come with a protective material to make that the buckles of the straps don't scratch or damage your kayak's hull once you have it installed. We also have bow and stern tie downs as well. It is padded. Every possible point the kayak's going to make contact with the actual cradles themselves, again to ensure that the hull is not damaged.

We have the foam pads at the front as well as the back side of it and then we have a smaller pad at the base of our cradle. With our kayak removed, you can better see the pads at the base of our J hooks here that the kayak's going to be resting on. How it attaches to your roof rack system, we have these Jaws universal mounts here. So, these little metal brackets that sandwich your roof rack around the kayak carrier and we have the two turn nods that'll tighten it down. And right now we have it attached aero-bars, but this will also work with elliptical, square, round, and most factory roof racks as well. And there you have it for the Malone J-Pro Kayak Carrier on our 2012 Toyota 4-Runner.

Very cool system. I put these on an atv trailer and now I can safely transport 4 kayaks. Installed in about one hour and thirty minutes. I highly recommend this product. 669091

These were exactly what I needed. Wanted something that had the ability to use the t-slot as the VW cross bars don't fit the universal adapters easily. With the Malone t-slot adapter kit these fit perfectly. 653487

  • Inexpensive Way To Carry Two Kayaks on a 2014 GMC Acadia
  • It sounds like you have raised side rails on your 2014 GMC Acadia and need a set of crossbars as well as a compatible kayak carrier. If that is the case then for a set of crossbars, there are few better options than the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG216 with price in mind. This system has tracks for use with channel mounted accessories as well as aero shaped bars for the least wind resistance. It also comes with locks. For a kayak carrier to haul two kayaks, you will want to use...

  • How To Carry 2 Hobies On A Malone Extra Light Trailer
  • I contacted Malone and the Malone Extra Light Trailer part # MPG525G is not compatible with Crossbars for Malone MicroSport Trailers - 78" Long part # MPG4001. The only trailer that can use the longer cross bars is the Malone Microsport trailers that came with 65" standard load bars. The bars on the Extra Light Trailer are almost 5 feet and I know Hobies can be over 2 feet wide so If you are trying to carry the Hobies flat and side by side they may not fit especially with the W style...

  • Carrying 4 Kayaks and Storage Trunk on Malone MicroSportXT Kayak Trailer
  • Along with the MicroSportXT # MPG460XT you could simply add 4 of the Malone J-Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG116MD. You may want to consider a more economical option with the Malone MicroSport Trailer with J-Pro Kayak Carriers # MPG462G2 and add Storage Trunk for Malone MicroSport and XtraLight Trailers # MPG481. The Microsport with J-Pro Carriers comes with the ability to carry 4 kayaks, has a 375 lbs capacity, measures 164" long x 65" wide and has a coupler that attaches to a 2" hitch ball....

  • Malone Kayak Trailer to Carry Two 12 Foot Long Hobie Kayaks
  • The Malone MicroSport Trailer that includes the SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier, part # MPG461SU, is only designed to carry 1 kayak. Instead, I recommend using the MicroSport, part # MPG460G, which is the same trailer without the SaddleUp Pro, and adding 2 of the J-Pro, part # MPG116MD, to carry the kayaks. I've attached videos of both of them. If you need any equipment for your vehicle to be able to tow a trailer let me know the year, make, and model and I can make some recommendations...

  • Best Malone Trailer To Tow Heavy Kayaks
  • The Malone MicroSport Trailer part # MPG461GS has a capacity of 150 lbs per kayak or boat cradle and the kayak or boat cannot be longer than 20 ft long. The Malone Crossbars part # MPG4001 are 78" crossbars for Malone MicroSport trailers that originally came with shorter crossbars. The Malone MicroSport part # MPG461GS already comes with the 78" bars. For heavier kayaks I recommend Malone MicroSport Trailer part # MPG460G without the boat cradles and use Malone J-Pro Kayak Carrier with...

  • Kayak Carrier to Fit Rola GTX Roof Rack on 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  • Can Two 68 Pound Kayaks be Carried on the Roof of a 2016 Ford Fusion
  • Rola Rail Extreme DFE Series Roof Rack # R5004 is rated for 110 pounds so it will not be the best option for your 2016 Ford Fusion and two 68 pound kayaks. The bars themselves are rated higher but the mounting feet in this roof rack is limited to 110 pounds. I do have a solution for you but none of the available roof racks for your Fusion are rated higher enough. The only remaining option is to use what is called a roof rack on wheels. This is basically a trailer with a roof rack on...

  • Recommended Crossbars for Standard 5x8 Utility Trailer to Carry 4 Kayaks
  • I recommend the Malone TopTier part # MPG493. The Malone TopTier is designed to add load bars to an open trailer. The steel uprights attach to the side rails of the utility trailer since there is not a roof to attach the hardware to. The uprights install on trailers that are 4 feet or 5 feet wide so they work with your new trailer. The setup is about 4 feet tall so you can add cargo to the trailer as well if you need to. The bars are 65 inches long, so the 4 kayaks fit the bars on their...

  • Can the XtraLight Trailer # MPG526G-J be Used to Carry 2 Kayaks and a 33" Wide Paddleboard
  • We actually have a Malone Trailer like the XtraLight # MPG526G-J already setup so I went out and measured between the uprights that those J-Style carriers mount inside of and the distance was only about 26-1/2" which means your 33" wide paddleboard won't fit with this setup. Instead you will want to use the MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G along with J-Style kayak carriers like 2 sets of the # MPG116MD and then a crossbar pad like part # MPG315 for your paddleboard. The crossbars on this...

  • You are correct that the V-Style Kayak Carrier # MPG567 is specifically designed for a Malone XtraLight Trailer like part # MPG526G-V. Although it will not fit your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon I do have a solution for you. Instead of the V-Style Kayak Carrier I recommend going with the Malone J-Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG116MD. • Recommended Kayak Carrier for 2 Inch Round Bar Roof Rack
  • The Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style - Folding - Side Loading # Y04073 most likely will not work with almost 2 inch diameter bars. The standard round bars on a roof rack are 1-1/8 inches diameter. The JayLow can fit bars 1-11/16 inches tall so if they are that diameter or under it would fit but any larger would not. • How to Carry Two 65 Lb Kayaks with a 2015 Honda Civic Si
  • I looked in the owner's manual for your 2015 Honda Civic Si and was not able to find any reference to what your roof's weight capacity is. Therefore, your best option to determine this would be to contact the dealer with your VIN. Assuming the weight capacity of your roof is rated for the weight of your kayaks/rack/carrier, I recommend using the Rola Sport Series Roof Rack part # 59758 with two sets of the Rola J-Rac Kayak Carrier part # 59912 to carry them. • The Malone SteelTop Roof Rack - Square Crossbars # MPG202 will allow a variety of kayak roof rack options. I've linked the page to all your options, but there are 3 that have been tested with this roof rack by the manufacturer and designed for compatibility. They are the MaloneJ-Loader Kayak Carrier # MPG118MD, the Malone J-Pro2 # MPG117MD, and the J-Pro # MPG116MD. There are other styles that are also compatible but the J-style carrier is by far the most popular.

There is an economical roof rack option with the Malone AirFlow2 # MPG216. • Comparing Malone J-Style Kayak Carriers
  • You're correct the J-Pro2, part # MPG117MD, is a newer model of the J-Pro, part # MPG116MD. The difference between the two is the J-Pro2 has more padding to protect the kayaks. Other than that and the color they're basically the same. The J-Loader, part # MPG118MD, goes a little further to add the ramps which help with loading. You slide the kayak up and over the ramps helping to guide it in place instead of having to lift it over the ends of the carrier like with the J-Pro and J-Pro2....
