Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the tail light trim panel and tail lights to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, route the 4-way connector along the rear bumper and zip tie as needed. Mount the 4-flat close to the receiver tube.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we'll take a look at the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four way flat trailer connector. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander vehicles. And on a custom fit part like this, I do recommend for you to go to our website and use the fit guide.
Put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now this harness will provide this four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with five pole, six pole and seven pole adapters that we do sell separately on our website. This does connect very quickly and easily. What you'd have to do is just locate your connection points, which will be in the rear cargo area.
Plug in these T-connectors. There's two of them, one on each side. One on the driver's side, one on the passenger side. Ground the white wire, and then you'll have the remaining black wire, which is your power wire. That'll run to your vehicle's battery.
Now this kit will include this box here, this black box. This is a taillight converter, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. It is a power module, so it does connect directly to your battery to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. It is constructed with the SMT technology, which is surface mount technology. Gives you more consistent, reliable performance.
It'll help maximize trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. And it also ensures superior operation in rough road conditions. If you notice that they do even include this nice dust cap, that'll go on to the four way. Just adapt it to the plug, just like that. And you can leave it on there if you'd like. And then when you're not plugged into your trailer, just put that dust cap over the terminals and that'll protect them from the elements and from any damage. A few specs on this. The maximum amperage for the stop and turn light circuit is five amps per circuit. For the taillights it's 7.5 amps per circuit. And the last thing I want to go through is just where all the, it includes everything shown here on the table. And just to show you where all these pieces go. So again, what you'll do, let's go to the back of the vehicle, access your connection points in the rear cargo area. Go to the driver's side and you'll take the one that has the yellow wire in here and unplug your plug-in behind your tail light. Plug this in there. Take the white wire with the eyelet on it. Connect that to a good clean ground if there's one nearby. If not, they do give you a screw that you can make your own ground. And then you'll take your other T-connector. That's the green wire that goes over the passenger side. You can see it is a length of wire. So run that over, connect that in the passenger side. Once those are all connected, you do want to attach this box. It does have some weight to it. So you do want to attach this to a flat surface, so it doesn't bounce around. It has a tab with a hole, so you can put a screw in there if you prefer. If not, they do give you some double face tape that you can use to hold it in place. And then run your four way out the back towards your trailer. And then your remaining connection will be your power wire. That's the single black wire right here. This will need to run to the front of your vehicle. So they do give you some extra wire for that and your connectors. So if you take a butt connector, put it on your power wire, connect it to one end of this length of wire, run it up to the front. Once you get up to the front, you don't want to connect this directly to the battery. You want to run it through this fuse holder. So take your other butt connector and connect it to one end or one side of the fuse holder, just like that. And once that's connected, take your eyelet connector they give you, connect that to the other end. And then this will connect to the battery. Once it's all connected, just take your included 10 amp fuse, install it into your inline fuse holder. And then once you get that in there, just go ahead and put the cap on it. Once you get the cap on there, now your system's all ready to go. If you notice, they do give you some extra cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring. But that should do it for the review on the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four way flat trailer connector..

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance. This harness is relatively easy to install, yellow to the left, green to the right, black to the battery, and then your towing cable. It comes with pre-wired light connectors so you don't really have to identify each individual light. Only problem is that if you want to install this harness and still use the water rubber seal behind the light, you will need to cut the cables between both tail lights and the control unit and then rejoin them so that you can put the cables through the rubber seal and not the side of it, otherwise you are leaving that water seal open. I looked for other options but I could not find any other space, even the instructions direct you to pass the cables between the bodywork and bumper, which is the cleanest path, but again, you have that problem with the rubber seal. Adding a couple of connectors could make a whole difference.
Hi,
To order it is not a problem, but there was a mistake in the order, it is not the right trailer hitch, so I wanted to return it to change the trailer hitch, but nobody wanted to help me, because the return costs xxx$ Canadian, which is the price of the trailer hitch. So no I didn't get a good after sales service
Great Harness. Pretty much plug and play. easy to install. the easy part was plugging the harness to the tail lights. No spicing to worry about. the only hard part was running the black power wire to the battery.
Sounds easy once it has the connectors built in, but ends up being harder than the one with the splitters, because the car connector is behind a rubber sealant cap, and the harness connector cannot pass through the cap, affecting the sealing, which could cause a short circuit.
Excellent service.
Pretty simple to install, no cutting into your factory wiring. The hardest part is running the power wire.
Perfecto for my outlander 2022
Very easy installation
Fast delivery but what I appreciate more is the communication. Very friendly and help!
got it
