Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:

    • Tail lights: 6 amps per circuit
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear scuff panel and additional trim to access this harness.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights.
Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I am still very happy a year out. I was able to easily install the Curt trailer hitch on my 2012 Honda CR-V all by myself. This is the second time that I've purchased a hitch from etrailer and it was an excellent expeirience both times. The product came well-packaged with no parts missing and instructions. The also provided links to ibstructional videos so you can literally follow along as you watch someone guide you. I use my hitch to tow a small 6x4 ft. trailer full of fire wood, leaves, dirt, furniture, and anything else that will fit. Etrailer will be my top consideration anytime I am on the market for vehicle accessories. Great products. Great customer service. Great Company.

Price works great I installed it myself and yes I am a woman, I watch the video and everything went just as it should have I save myself $500 not having a trailer hitch and the wiring done and doing it myself. Thank you so much e trailers

Comments
Great! We use the hitch for an electric wheelchair for my 90 year old dad. I’m the one that has to hookup it all on my own. Couldn’t be more pleased with the fit. Thanks for being a great company via the internet. Carolyn a loyal customer

I wired it to the outside of the Crv so I didn't have to open the hatch every time I wanted to pull my trailer. First I cut the trailer plug off a foot from the plug and ran the wires through the grommet in the photo. I had already cut a hole in the underbody and this grommet lead right to this hole. Then I reattached the trailer plug to the wires with shrink wrap connectors and ran the plug right above the hitch. Very clean install and setup I really like it.

2013 HondaCR-V

Good product. Included everything needed to install, and video on website was very helpful.

by:

Easy install plug and play. Recommend e trailer.com

by:

Simple installation, but I already had the panels off for something else. Just plug and go. The double-sided tape was dried-out but I didn't need it anyway. If you have the upper panel off, there's an existing ground bolt right above where it plugs in. Just loosen and add the ground wire. This is my second one and I've had a great experience each time.

The trailer hitch and wiring harness arrived in 2 days, which was much quicker than I expected. The installation went smoothly thanks to the detailed instructional videos on etrailer.com. Great products, prices, and service. Thank you etrailer.com.

Here is the final finish of the Curt "T" connector. Wired to my Hidden Hitch I purchased. Ordered a separate bracket to house the four pin plug to give it a cleaner look. Easy to install and looks amazing. Can't wait to try it out.

by:

Easy setup. This is my second time purchasing an electronic setup and hitch here, haven’t failed me yet.

by:

Exceptional service. Fast delivery. Another retailer failed to install a towing wiring harness so I found this product which was exactly what I needed. It came with videos and instructions that made it incredibly easy to install myself.

by:

Thank you for such an awesome experience! Never done this before and watching your video made it really easy to install. My jack had broken so I had to do it from the floor. A little tough but managed without any help. Also, The wiring was cake as well. Perfect demonstration and walkthrough on your video(s). You asked for the pics so I shot a few for you. I've never had a vehicle with a tow hitch so my next goal is a trailer. gotta save for that one :(

Well, once again I want to thank you, guys!

The included instructions for taking apart the plastic trim panels inside the car are grossly inadequate. Fortunately, YouTube had a car and year specific set of instructions for my particular wiring harness adapter that was spot on. It doesn't say as much in the instructions, but the project would benefit from a specialized trim-clip removal tool. Without it, you're going to break some proprietary plastic clips.

Still working great after a year. This harness was easy to install on my 2016 Honda CRV. The installation video on the product's page was particularly helpful. Will come to etrailer for may next one.

Very nice and well made trailer hitch wiring harness for my Honda CRV. Brake, tail lights, turn signal lights tested perfect first try. Cover for plug keeps contact points clean when not in use.

by:
2016 HondaCR-V

Routed the wiring harness through the existing grommet behind the left interior wall panel and then out the existing hold at the bottom of the protective cover.

Love the installation videos! Made installation a snap.

The hitch was a perfect fit for the CRV. I used [online] videos to install the hitch, and it went on easily. Great product.

2015 HondaCR-V

Kit fit as described. Struggled to get the black rear panel back on as others had mentioned. Tough to get that gap out as it separates from the other piece near the rear seat. I did stick my connector to come out this hole as in pic below. Sticky tape fell off both sides despite wiping though. Used gorilla glue to help and otherwise all was fine. I'm a novice and it is do-able.

by:

I’mvery pleased very easy to install

by:
2015 HondaCR-V

Nice harness worked fine after install, it was nice that I didn't have to cut into any wires pretty much plug n play.

by:

Awesome follow up from the staff as our order was being shipped. This was our 4th or 5th order with them. All arrived when promised.

by:

Product works great, but requires a bit of time to install - mostly due to trim panel removal and replacement. I think it's worth the extra effort to install diodes, because they are very convenient once installed.

EZ PZ wiring install.
The real trick
is removing plastic push pins and panels without damage but that has nothing to do with etrailer it's just how our cars are made today.
Maybe a brief how to with tips on how to work with auto panels & push pins would help?

Comments
For your 2014 Honda CR-V fasteners, you can use a flat head screw driver to push down on the center and then they will pop loose. You can pull back the weather strip and use a plastic pry bar to pop out the panel. For a visual, you can watch the attached video starting at the :30 second mark:
