Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I'm a pretty good DIY person, so when I saw a plug and play installation of trailer wiring specifically made for my Ford Edge, I couldn't believe it. Just in case you don't want to cut, splice, heat-shrink the factory light wiring circuit you can plug T connector in and install taillight back in place.
The hardest part of this installation is the module power wire that has to be run from the rear bumper to the vehicle battery. Note: if you plan on making your vehicle a towable behind an RV like me, you should run both the 12V power wire and your toad trailering lights together saves having to install later.
Well made, easy installation and just a first class product from a very customer oriented company. The videos are outstanding.
Excellent product. Installation was a bit trying. Feeding the wiring up through the body and into the taillight assemblies was the toughest part of the intall.
easy install, works great!
Got it yesterday, had it installed this morning.. looks great.. I am now an etrailer.com fan and will be coming here for any vehicle need I have moving forward!
Complete kit and works fine.
Lightning Fast Shipping. The online video made the installation a snap. I highly recommend etrailer.com.
Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Ford Edge:
Harness is well made and plugs into existing sockets. Installation video is very helpful, but also somewhat deceiving. Running the plugs and wires up through the small area in the body's rear panels is not nearly as easy as shown. This proved to be the most difficult portion of the install. On the driver's side, I had to remove the existing wiring to feed the harness wiring due to room constraints. (Larger on this side than passenger side). Following this, I ran the original harness up through the passage. Once installed, everything plugs in as shown on the video. You will need to push the plugs and wiring back down into the passageway to reinstall the taillight assembly (sufficient wiring to do this).
You also need to run a hot wire up to the battery. The Edge underside is all heat shields and cover plates, with little opportunity to snake a wire up to the front of the car (run on driver side where the battery is located). Looking down from the open hood, I saw a SMALL opening through to the pavement and ran a long rod down, taped the wire to it and pulled it up to the battery compartment.
Previous to this, I had installed a 2 inch receiver hitch to the Edge. The harness was much more difficult to install than the hitch.
Overall: Well made as said, works well, sufficient wiring if you choose the shortest paths. However, Difficult to install. Would not recommend installing yourself unless you have considerable patience. Probably worth taking to a shop with an overhead lift.
Works just fine. A bit fiddly to install, especially the power wire up to the battery. Overall, very satisfied with the performance. No problems, at all.
Fast delivery. Very impressed.
Received the hitch quick and items as described. Fit well and installed in about an hour. Only complaint I have is the packing box was torn thus, some of the powder coat was knocked off the corners or the hitch.
I received the product on time and in good shape everything was as it was supposed to be when I ordered it simple directions and easy to install no problems whatsoever.
My only issue which has nothing to do with the product, the issue was, I have a 5 wire flat on my trailer and I need to know how to convert the 4 wire I installed, to hook up to the 5 wire plug on the boat trailer.
I can report that the Tekonsha 118669
trailer wiring kit was finally installed and working. It was not the easiest to do but with some re-engineering it was connected. The wires to the drivers side were not long enough and had to be spliced. The very large connection
plugs were too large without the body panel being pulled apart but I worked around that issue since the wires had to
be spliced anyway. The Ford tail light connection plug had to be unmounted to make room for the "kit wiring plugs",
Difficult installation but I got it installed and it works.
I gave the 2 stars because of the fast delivery of the product and for the beat quality of the product. I had problems with install of the wiring harness. I called for suggestions and was told to use a coat hanger to pull the harness up. Problem on my car, the harness plugs could not be pulled through because the factory plug was in the way and could not be removed. I had to try and remove it, cut the wires, fish the harness wire up and then splice them together again. The passenger side was harder because the fish wire was sent to smaller area of the frame. Wires are just long enough.
The hitch was easier but the video shows easy installation because they have removed the entire exhaust system. This allows the installer to reach into the rear of the frame to pass the backing plate and bolt. Reaching into the space between frame and bumper is difficult since you can only use two fingers to feed the parts in. At times it is difficult to feed the fish wire into the correct spot. The rest of the installation was easy once the bolts were in place.
I had previously installed a hitch on a 2014 Ford Edge and ran the wires inside the car. With my 2017 Ford Edge, the instructions were to run the wires under the car on the outside. This is not the product's fault, but running a wire from the battery at the front of the car to the hitch at the rear of the car proved to be way more difficult than I ever would have imagined! Ford has an undercarriage "sheathing" that, when coupled with the fact that I didn't want the wire anywhere near moving parts, made it pretty difficult! What I thought would take 10 minutes took over an hour!
Still working great. Remember to unplug when launching your boat and keep the cap on the plug when not in use. Should last a long time.
Finally finished the project! Took my wife and i two days to install hitch. Then recuperated for a day. Day three we did the wiring at rear of car. Got the black power wire half way to the front. Tired crawling under car without a lift.
Day four, with help from NAPA and cable puller got power wire rest of way up to battery and connected. Tested OK. Do I get a prize for the longest install?
Although it only took him online 16 minutes. And so it goes
This harness is meant to be completely external to the car, according to the video. In other words, it does not cross through the trim inside the vehicles inner molding. Where the vehicle hatch lid closes.
THIS HARNESS IS A LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE TO RUN FROM DRIVES SIDE TAIL LIGHTS TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT OVER AND AROUND THE HITCH RECEIVER. Don't be fooled by the install "video" on a Ford Edge SEL. Trying to zip tie the wiring away from the hot exhaust pipes will take many zip ties and tricky placement to avoid damaged wires, not to mention, the wiring is exposed to all the elements. The "T" connector wires should be longer so they can be tucked out of the way so as not to interfer with trying to reinstall the tail lights back in place. You will notice, the training video is edited right after they tell you to put the tail lights on, but don't actually show the process of doing so. It is more difficult than it looks, because the "T" connectors hold the light assembly out from the body of thr car. It takes a lot of fooling around to get the connectors exactly in the right spot. This is why I say, the "T" connector wires need to be longer to get them out of the way. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Buy the wiring kit that goes under the trim, INSIDE the car. etrailer themselves is great to deal with, but not this wiring harness. I am glad no one was around when installing this wiring kit, summed up in one word, frustration.
First time installing a hitch and wiring but I'm familiar with vehicles and consider myself an above average shadetree mechanic. Hitch went on as expected, no issues with fitment of installation of hardware, the wiring was not as straightforward as shown in videos.
After 10-15 minutes of trying to fish T connectors up to the taillights, I decided to pull the rear bumper cover. This simply consisted of removing 7 5.5mm fasteners in each wheel well and popping the plastic cover off the retaining clips. Extremely easy and only took a few minutes.
With the cover off, it was simple to remove the factory taillight wiring connector from the mount and install the trailer wiring. A nice surprise was the ability to remove the white clip that mounted the factory connector to the body and install it on the new T connector. This eliminated the 'extra' wiring at the taillight assembly others mentioned was difficult to work around.
I mounted the black control module behind the cover and ran the passenger wiring along the bumper frame, nice clean installation. I ran the main power wire like mentioned in other reviews, under the vehicle into the engine compartment and made the connection at the battery. Overall the install took me around 3 hours, which I could cut in half if I was to repeat the process.
The fit is as advertised and it looks custom. It took less than an hour to install crawling on my garage floor by myself, so if you have a lift and a friend it's fun and easy. hook it up to my 5x8 landscaping trailer and all the lights worked perfectly with the wiring kit. highly recommend this hitch receiver.
Thanks etrailer! I installed my hitch and wire kit in short order, followed the video and WALLA!! ALL done!!! Thank You great product I’ll recommend to friends!
Easy to install and works well
The Wiring harness was just as expected and it even had heat shrink connectors!
Very nice it was as complete as it was, only thing I disliked was the power wire that I had to run to the front of the car was a splice connection to the new harness, I don't get why they just don't make that part of the harness.
Great price, good quality.
after a year and 8 months its flawless. the hardest part was crawling under the car to route the harness to the engine compartment but the instructions greatly simplified the installation.
