Thomas - 02/07/2023Here's some snaps of my Hopkins #40975 installation. I can confirm that it's an identical replacement for the 2014 Silverado 1500 trailer-light blank insert, no bracket required. It took me 30 seconds to plug the Silverado's OEM 7-pin round connector (located inside the blank insert) into the #40975 Wiring Kit and snap it into the cutout. Then I tested the flat 4-pin outlet of the #40975 with a 5 dollar 4-pin LED tester from West Marine, and all light functions tested good. Shweet! To remove the OEM blank plug, it helps to reach behind it and pinch the two spring clips holding it in place... same with the #40975 if it needs to be removed for some reason. When I ordered the part from eTrailer, your site had a comment, "This will not fit your vehicle. See below for compatible parts," or words to that effect. Maybe take a look at that and remove the comment, as the #40975 is an exact fit for 2014 Silverado 1500, no bracket needed. Thanks, eTrailer team!
Ron P - 03/19/2015The 7 way connector on my 2005 F150 was damaged so I replaced it. I wanted to make sure it worked before going to the storage lot to tow my RV. Very pleased with this 7way tester! It worked as advertised!
This kit worked perfectly, it makes a very nice install to add a almost factory trailer tow system and give you the brake controller function!
It has worked fine for me although I did have water get into the contacts where the vehicle harness plugs in and the trailer brakes became intermittent at times when driving in the rain. I really should have known to seal it better the first time so I took it off and used the stretchy silicone "Rescue Tape" to re-seal the connection. All seems well now. I especially like the convenience of the 7-pin and flat-4 combination.
The item itself is great. Plug and play, easy and quick install. The problem I had was etrailer failed to include the 4/7-way plug adapter that pops directly in the factory bed cutout (it is a separately packaged item included in this kit). I called them the next morning and they took care of getting it shipped out within the day. Problem is they shipped via usps and took almost one week to get to me. was looking forward to using it within that time frame, instead had to run the cable over my new truck’s tailgate… I believe that if a mistake is made it should be corrected as quickly as possible, not as cheaply as possible.
Plugged right into my 04 GMC Sierra. Two bolts, hook up harness and installed. It came with dielectric grease already on the pins which was great to see.
I just received my package from Etrailer.com and it was nice to open the box and have the right part/part I ordered arrive. Opened up the box staged my parts and started the install. It was very easy with the instructions that were sent and the video on their site that anyone can do this install with no issues. Hitch was on in no less than 15 mins from opening of the box to final torquing of the bolts.
The customer service at this company is top notch. I have never had anyone from a company email me before after ordering from them like I did with this company and in business today you are seeing less and less of this type of customer care and service. AWESOME job Guys and Gals I will buy all my accessories from here.
I got this to replace the factory plug that’s in the rear bumper. Removed the new plug from the angle bracket and is a direct replacement for the factory plug. It has worked great. I think it’s more water tight than the factory plug.
It works well so far. My tech installer was unfamiliar with the design so I suspect he may purchase others. If it lasts 10+ years or more I will be happy.
I needed to install it upside down because installing it right-side up would not allow me to put my factory bumper hitch cover back on.
Easy installation of this quality product. Nice to not use an adapter for a 4-Pole trailer.
This is a plug-in replacement for my 2010 Ford F-150 with factory installed trailer package. I had this exact same connector but someone unclipped it and stole it. Ford Parts wanted over $100 for a replacemnt (they included the entire rear bumper harness that I did not need). I had the cutout on the hitch that exactly matched this bracket and the blue socket that you see in the optional pigtail available for this product (see attached photo). I snapped this dual connector into my existing cutout - fit perfectly. Did not need to use the included bracket. So if your factory connector is damaged or stolen, use this as a snap-in replacement. The only difference is it says "Pollack" instead of "Ford". I called Hopkins before I bought and they said they supplied a lot of the OE parts Ford uses.
Works great, I've had it installed for about a year now. I bought to replace some trailer wiring that the previous owner had butchered. It's nice to have both connections in one location even though every trailer I use only has 7 pin connections.
Quality bracket and ease of mounting with provided tek screws. Although pre-coated, a small package of dielectric grease would make it even better.
Scratched my head for a while, trying to find a quality way to connect this vehicle end 4/7 wire socket to my trailer ready (almost) 2015 Audi Q7. Finally decided that it really didn’t need to be bolted, but could be hose clamped to the existing heavy duty Audi bracket.
Mounted it sideways with a 1” diameter and a 3” diameter hose clamp. Be sure to use a 3” clamp with lots of serrations that all it to tighten it down a lot.
You’ll need to drill out the small hole of the supplied bracket to allow a clamp to fit through it. The other hole is a slot, and works unaltered. Small clamp on bottom, large clamp on top.
You’ll also need to relieve a small spot on the trim piece to make room for the 4-wire door to o-en freely. This is marked as red on one of the pictures.
Looks good and should work good!
Rob - 09/22/2019Please provide better hardware to connect to frame. The self tap screws didn't really work and doesn't match the all black trailer frame and tow harness
The trailer hitch plus 7-4 Pole trailer connector all fit perfect on my 2018 Grand Cherokee. Installed it myself with the help of a couple of jack stands to support the hitch while I bolted it in. Saved a bundle over having the dealership install the Jeep brand. The hitch is barely noticeable. The only issue with a jeep is they do not activate the connector plug so I had to have the dealer activate it after I installed it.
Order shipped in a timely fashion. Only complaint is that I wish there was foam sprayed in the box to keep things from shifting. Large hole where the receiver was. All the parts remained in the box though.
Overall VERY happy.
Bought for my neighbors 2012 F250 Ford. Had to us his old bracket for mounting but work fine!
Richard H - 11/06/2022Right out of the package it was easy to install and looks great on my vehicle. Luckily I only needed the 4-pin though as the 7-pin hookup doesn’t function. Would’ve returned it but I needed to use it only a few days after delivery. Gonna just roll with it until I have a need for a 7-pin and maybe try etrailer again (this is the first issue I’ve had with one of their products) or possibly try another retailer.
Excellent quality. Only took 5 minutes to install. Outstanding customer service!! Ordered online on Friday and received via USPS on Monday, with emails letting me know the order was received, the item was shipped, and one that stated that the company had received information that the item had been delivered. And each one was signed by an individual. If only all companies operated this way.
