Timbren's Active Off-Road Bumpstops provide off-road enthusiasts with greater control over their vehicle's suspension travel. Using progressive-rate springs means that instead of a hard stop at the end of axle travel, the axle energy will be absorbed when bottoming out, producing smooth, predictable, and quiet axle engagement and disengagement. The progressive rubber springs absorb the harsh jolt at the end of axle travel, giving you a gentle ride the whole time.
Unlike your factory bumpstops, Timbren's bumpstops are constructed of a superior natural rubber compound, ensuring the bumpstops will continue to operate even after a lifetime of off-road abuse. And the steel brackets and disks are lazer cut before they are painted with a durable, long-lasting powder coat finish to ensure protection and long life.

Hi everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at these Timbren Active Off-Road Suspension Enhancement System Bumpstops. These are gonna come in a variety of different fits and kits for various different vehicles, so be sure to check the fit guide and find the right kit for you. But let's check out the whole line and see how they work. So these bumpstops are designed to be a custom fit application for the front end of whatever vehicle you put them on. We just finished installing them on the 4Runner here, and it just dropped in place where the original factory bumpstops were.
These ones are a fair bit bigger, not completely huge, but still an upgrade from the factory ones, giving us enough room for some movement and travel, but offering more support for off-road applications and increased support for things like body roll. Now, depending on what you're looking for, you might consider a set of these for the rear. Those are often used for towing applications or we've got tongue weight on the vehicle or a load in our truck bed where there's maybe some sag back there. So if that's more what you're looking for, use our fit guide to find the right kit for you on the rear axle, but for the front end, this is what you can expect, and it's mainly going to be targeting the driving performance. These are going to be constructed with a natural rubber compound and come with all the pieces you need to get set up.
Pretty much all of them are gonna be designed to be a custom bolt-on application with little to no drilling required. Now, obviously, that's going to depend based on whatever kit you go with, the installation process will be a little bit different. For the 4Runner ones here, it was really just threading it directly into a factory weld nut, and in the case of that factory weld nut being broken or not operational anymore, they do include a nut with the kit in case you need it. And while Timbren does offer these Active Off-Road Bumpstops that are designed to give you a little bit more travel and maybe be better for off-road applications, they do offer other kits that are just their standard suspension enhancement system. Now, again, depending on what kit and vehicle fit you go for, it might be a little bit different, but for the most part, it should be a little bit bigger and be more targeted towards just increasing the overall ride quality of your vehicle when you're driving.
So in the case of these 4Runner ones, they make quicker contact and help a lot more with body roll. Even though they don't give as much room for travel, they will offer a great amount of support, especially over the factory bumpstops. And with these springs, I do wanna mention, it uses a progressive spring rate, so the more that they compress, the more they're going to push back and try to return the vehicle to its natural driving state. So as it compresses more, it is going to offer more support where it's needed. And that's really all there is to it, it really just comes down to finding the right kit for your vehicle, and then, getting them installed.
That installation process is gonna vary depending on which kit you go with, so be sure to check our website, see if they have any install videos to follow along with, but for the most part, they're very straightforward, it's just a bolt on installation. But that'll do it for a look at this line of Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been running the ActiveOffRoad bumpstops on my vehicles for several years and have installed several sets on friends and customers vehicles as well. I highly recommend them as the finishing touch to any performance suspension upgrade, as they reduce any hash bottom-out situations to virtually nothing. Also the SES models greatly improve ride and load capabilities on stock vehicles, also with a much improved ride. Wonderful products!
What a great product and less upkeep than bags. I've been towing a 25 camper and loads of gravel while sitting safe and level! Selling the truck for something bigger that will also get the Timbren treatment
I purchased this a week ago... not a year ago! I'll be hitching the trailer this weekend to check out the new suspension addition. jm
Other than a quick test-drive, I haven't really tested these out yet. The product is much more heavy duty than the stock bumpstops on the 2023 Tundra and they appear well made. Installation was easy, took less than an hour. Make sure you seat the rear mounting bolt first; I didn't do that on the first one and then had some difficulty seating a socket on that bolt during installation due to tight product clearances. The hardest part for me was finding 2 17mm sockets and ratchets in my tools to assemble the product. I did not need to raise the truck to install.
While towing my boat (2021 Tracker Pro Guide V-175/Mercury 115 ProXS, ~3,200lbs) in my 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium, I noticed a significant rear squat. Additionally, fellow motorists would flag me for “high beaming” when I was not. This squatting in the rear raised the front end and subsequent headlight alignment. After much research and review, I purchased the Timbren SES and installed it. With the vehicle hitch unloaded, the SES rides approximately 1.250” above the rear axel. With the boat loaded onto the hitch, the Timbren SES contacts the axel and holds the load firmly, maintaining a level vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the ride was not greatly effected. Matter of fact, the vehicle rides much better while towing than before installing the SES. With the 3rd row seating in use, and the vehicle full of passengers, the rear passengers complained of a very bumpy ride and I noticed a very rough feel with hard bumps from the rear. After installing the Timbren SES, even with the boat on the hitch and the vehicle fully loaded, my 4Runner remains level and the ride is substantially improved. If you have 3rd row seating and/or plan on towing ANYTHING with your 4Runner, you absolutely need the Timbren SES. Installation is a breeze. Easiest accessory you’ll ever upgrade.
These definitely do the job in my xterra whether it’s hooking up a heavy trailer or just stopping the bottoming out these vehicles can experience. Easy install would recommend 100%
I had these on my Tacoma and liked the way they worked so much that I got a set for my new to me Tundra. You don't notice anything until you put a load on the truck. Then you feel more stable under load and don't have to worry as much about the leaf springs. The install was done in 15 minutes
My 2013 4runner was squatting in the rear when I coupled my 6X12 motorcycle trailer. I was very happy to have found the Timbren bump stop to simply bolt on and fix the problem. However.....during the installation I noticed I had to use ALL of the adjustment slot on the unit to TRY to center on the rear axle. I oriented the units as far towards the rear as the adjustment would allow.
When I coupled my trailer to the 4runner it correctly forced the Timbren bump stop to contact the axle and this is where the problem is.
The Timbren bump stop CAN NOT be adjusted far enough towards the rear to accomplish a centering on the axle. There is a 25% overhang of the bump stop on the axle front. When I communicated with Timbren about this they said" it's a good installation and it's ok". It is not ok.
Imagine that all of the force of a fully loaded truck will be negotiating curves, potholes, swoops and other hazards of the road at highway speeds. All of this stress is distributed on 75% of the product. It can't work as well as if it was 100% distribution. I felt the product was overpriced to begin with. After paying a premium price I expected a custom proper fit.
I can't recommend this product for Toyota 4runner owners.
Installation was a breeze! Followed the instructions and lifted the truck up using a jack under my hitch, loosened the u-bolts, removed the factory bump stops and installed the timbrens! Took 5 minutes for each side, and 5 minutes to setup and take down setup. 15 minutes max. Very easy to do. I believe I am going to need a 1” spacer as I have 1.5” Icon add-a-leaf packs in order to get them to engage while towing.
I had no problems with the installation. It only took about 15 minutes to put these on! There is adjustment space on the brackets to let u be able to center product over rear axles. The pictures below show the product installed while my 4 runner is both raised up for installation and after lowering it down. When lowered down and jack removed I have about an inch clearance.
These do what they're built to do. I overland a lot so when the truck gets weighed down with gear she tends to squat a little and when I go through bumpy areas the factory stops would slam the frame. No any more with these Active Bump Stops. A much smoother ride and less body roll when cornering.
The factory bump stops were harsh. These engage sooner and while firm they do not crash like the OEM.
Easy install.
I Install this product on the front and back of my 1994 toyota land cruiser ,I realy like them , we explore the Baja peninsula in MEXICO the off road land is very ruff , this bumpstop realy work . the don't crash in to my diferencial any more
Easy install, Nissan Xterra. Love that it came with all the hardware because I had to knock all existing hardware out with a hammer and chisel. I used four additional washers I had so I could put one inside the frame and one on the bumpstop mount. Etrailer shipped fast and free, bumpstops arrived ahead of schedule. Highly recommend these mounts, night and day difference.
Can't wait to pull my RV trailer again and see less squat in the backend of my Raptor!! These are going to make a difference.
the bumpstops are good
but the real winner is Etrailer.com fantastic customer service.
Very easy to install, haven't traveled with trailer yet but will be traveling in April.
Ordered for my 2010 Toyota Tundra. Parts came quickly and had them installed in about 20 minutes. Just needed a good vehicle jack and impact wrench and was very easy. These have greatly reduced the sag when pulling my camper and very satisfied.
They work well towing a heavey trailer.
Well after used the Chat online with Carol I ordered. Paid for 2 day shipping. Got it in 2 days.
Total install time 1 hour.
worked great
Been using the front and rear Timbrens on MY 2020 Nissan Frontier King Cab SV 4x4
Easy install. 2023 tundra platnium 4x2. Should have ordered the spacers. Still have a 2in gap. But I love the product
Work great, save my air bags from getting pinched if I let them get deflated.
easy to install - might want to let installers know you don't need to remove rear tires or jack the vehicle up (safety first!) on the Tundra. Just remove the 3 oem 12mm bolts on each side and replace the itty-bitty oem bump stops with your nice Timbren's (17mm bolt head and nut).
