  • Rear Axle Suspension Enhancement
  • Light Duty

Timbren's Active Off-Road Bumpstops provide off-road enthusiasts with greater control over their vehicle's suspension travel. Using progressive-rate springs means that instead of a hard stop at the end of axle travel, the axle energy will be absorbed when bottoming out, producing smooth, predictable, and quiet axle engagement and disengagement. The progressive rubber springs absorb the harsh jolt at the end of axle travel, giving you a gentle ride the whole time.

Unlike your factory bumpstops, Timbren's bumpstops are constructed of a superior natural rubber compound, ensuring the bumpstops will continue to operate even after a lifetime of off-road abuse. And the steel brackets and disks are lazer cut before they are painted with a durable, long-lasting powder coat finish to ensure protection and long life.

I had these on my Tacoma and liked the way they worked so much that I got a set for my new to me Tundra. You don't notice anything until you put a load on the truck. Then you feel more stable under load and don't have to worry as much about the leaf springs. The install was done in 15 minutes 718301

Comments
I pull a 20 ft car hauler with the Tundra and recently hauled a car to Arizona then hauled another back. The frame just touches the top of the Timbren when loaded. After 3,000 miles of driving I am even more convinced that this is a great product. The truck never squats from trailer load and the Timbren also keeps the ride smooth straight and steady when pulling a load. When unloaded there is about a one inch gap between the frame and the Timbren so it drives like stock when lightly loaded or unloaded.

This product limits travel of the axle when you go over a speed bump or in a dip in the road. They replace the existing snubbers on the frame and extend down to within a half inch of the axle. It was an easy install with the tire removed and the car on jack stands. The replacement bolts go in the existing threaded connections. Start to finish was about 45 mins for me and I am no expert. Once installed the car has a comfortable ride but speed bumps and pot holes have their bounce affect greatly reduced. I think these will improve my trailer towing future. 450555

Disappointed in this item TABSTOF. They look and feel almost exactly like the factory bump stops, except with a hole drilled in the center. I can't imagine these would make much of any difference in rebound cushioning as there is just not much to them. There is another part which is more appropriate TOFTAC4A, which are larger and would actually have a benefit whether in a standard or lifted suspension. 612558

My 2013 4runner was squatting in the rear when I coupled my 6X12 motorcycle trailer. I was very happy to have found the Timbren bump stop to simply bolt on and fix the problem. However.....during the installation I noticed I had to use ALL of the adjustment slot on the unit to TRY to center on the rear axle. I oriented the units as far towards the rear as the adjustment would allow. When I coupled my trailer to the 4runner it correctly forced the Timbren bump stop to contact the axle and this is where the problem is. The Timbren bump stop CAN NOT be adjusted far enough towards the rear to accomplish a centering on the axle. There is a 25% overhang of the bump stop on the axle front. When I communicated with Timbren about this they said" it's a good installation and it's ok". It is not ok. Imagine that all of the force of a fully loaded truck will be negotiating curves, potholes, swoops and other hazards of the road at highway speeds. All of this stress is distributed on 75% of the product. It can't work as well as if it was 100% distribution. I felt the product was overpriced to begin with. After paying a premium price I expected a custom proper fit. I can't recommend this product for Toyota 4runner owners. 480449

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

I've got a 2019 Tacoma TRD Offroad Double Cab with otherwise stock suspension: Bilsteins and 4 leaf spring in rears. GVWR is 5600lbs and I run it at about 5200lbs with all my racks and add-ons. I've only off roaded a couple times (with even more load) and didn't have any issues bottoming out my stoppers, but I often jarringly hit my stoppers in the streets of San Francisco, most notably heading east on Fulton St at 43rd Ave at a bus stop transition (35 mph speed limit). I was hoping this quick fix would alleviate the problem without stiffening my normal ride. I find the truck, when unladen, is bouncy at highway speeds on concrete roadways (gets a sea sick inducing bounce when the suspension becomes harmonic with the cracks and surface waves), so I didn't want to tighten up the suspension at all. I got the Timbren Active Offroad bump stops yesterday and it took me just over 30 mins to install with no hassle. There is only a hair gap between the top of the bump pad and the frame when parked. I took it for a test drive through the neighborhood and it felt like it did stiffen the ride a little bit, but had more control over bumps and dips, and less side sway. Then this morning I took it to the fateful Fulton test spot. Boy did it hit hard today. The change in my trays didn't go flying as usual, but I did bottom out the new bump stops with a thud. So their performance was not as great as I had hoped, but it did make it a little better. My expectation may not be reasonable, but I thought its road performance with be better than off road (I guess you go slower off road though). I'll have to see over time and perhaps consider more suspension upgrades. One thing I am curious about is how much bed sag I will have if I'm hauling stone. I've ridden on the stock bump stops with trips from the yard, so although these are not designed for towing or hauling, I'm hoping they will help the sag some. Maybe I can update this in a few weeks. 853044

I had no problems with the installation. It only took about 15 minutes to put these on! There is adjustment space on the brackets to let u be able to center product over rear axles. The pictures below show the product installed while my 4 runner is both raised up for installation and after lowering it down. When lowered down and jack removed I have about an inch clearance. 820765

These were a breeze to install with rear of my Frontier Pro4X on ramps. they fit perfectly, and are a drastic improvement over the rock hard rubber factory bump stops. 809334

These bumpstops are excellent! they look better in person than they do in the picture. Because I have a 2" spacer lift on my Frontier Pro4X, I needed to Timbren 1/2" spacers & longer 2" bolts. I tested these under full flex and they work perfectly. 809330

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

I have a medium-duty truck and recently purchased a camp trailer. Well, when I pulled the trailer home for the first time the back of the truck was weighed down. I installed the new Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops and they improved the load capacity immensely. When I get the cash saved up I plan on purchasing the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops for the front. Worth every penny. 762708

These are very easy to install on the Xterra. They definitely soften the blow when hitting a bump that compresses the rear suspension at speed. There is a bit of rebound with them that I wasn't expecting. Nothing terrible, just noticeable. These could be a temporary fix for the notoriously weak stock leaf springs on the Xterra, but are probably not a long term solution for that issue. I think, when combined with new leaf springs, that these are a nice upgrade to a vehicle that sees off road use from time to time. 629091

If you have the 2-wheel drive the AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60811 will help you reduce sag. With the AirLift springs you would...
