Front Suspension Support

A heavy front load, such as a snowplow or a winch, can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at the Sumo Spring solo custom helper springs for the front axle. Now, this is a custom fit design, so to ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the Vehicle Fit Guide which is located at etrailer.com.Now, these helper springs are designed to upgrade your vehicle's front suspension for improved driver control and overall comfort. They also do a great job at supporting heavy front end loads to help keep your vehicle level. They absorb bumps and road shocks, and they really help minimize the amount of sway that you experience in the front of the vehicle. They feature progressive load control. So, these springs will compress according to the weight of your cargo.

For lighter loads, the springs compress by as much as 80% for maximum support, and they work independently from one another to compensate for those off center loads and reduce body roll during sharp turns. They're constructed of a durable extra high density micro cellular urethane designed to work in temperatures ranging from negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit to positive 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and it resists damage that's typically caused by oils, road salts, and UV rays. Now, with these installed, they feature minimal lateral expansion. So, that means that these springs compress vertically instead of off to the side, so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. My favorite feature is that they're maintenance free. There's no tubing to run or air pressure to monitor like with air springs. You install them and you forget about them.

With this part number, you'll get everything laid out here on the table. You get your springs, you get all the necessary brackets and hardware, and you get a tube of Thread Locker.Simple, no drill installation. The brackets are made from durable steel and feature a nice powder coated finish on them. The hardware's plated to resist rust and corrosion as well. Parts made in the U.S.A.

Weight capacity at 50% compression is 4,000 pounds. Just keep in mind the Sumo Springs will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity, so be careful not to exceed that. That's going to do it for today's look at the Sumo Spring solo custom helper springs for the front axle.

2009 Ford F-450 Super Duty

Parts were extremely easy to install, instructions were satisfactory. Shipping took alot longer than expected but etrailer kept me informed at least. The Sumo front bumpstops work ok, didn't dampen as much as I had hoped for the price but they smooth out the harshness somewhat from rolling empty in an F450. Maybe with rear bags it would be better. Overall I would say I am satisfied with my purchase. Install is a piece of cake, took longer to find my jackstands than to put them in. Kinda spendy at $xx.xx though. 729872

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

I've had these for 1 year now for my 2016 Tundra and they are exactly what I needed!!! I couldn't be happier! Prior to purchasing and installing these, when I towed my 2 horses with my 2 horse slant bumper pull trailer, I was concerned about cargo weight in the bed of my truck so I was limited to gear I could bring camping and hunting season with my truck. Since adding these I can pull the horses and load my truck bed to the max including horse feed, hunting gear, coolers with food you name it and my truck doesn't even squat a bit! The ride is great with a load or without and my performance off road is still fine too! These proved to be a great solution to my needs and frankly better than pricey air bags. 673850

Were glad to hear that youre pleased with your purchase. Please keep in mind that the Sumo Springs product will not increase the capacity of your rear truck axle. The tongue weight of the trailer plus the weight of the cargo carried should not exceed the trucks rear axle capacity.

Extremely satisfied with this product as gives me the ability to carry a heavier load with no impact to the ride of my truck including off road 4 wheeling!

These work exactly as stated on my 2018 sprinter class C. They do not make the ride harsh at all. The yellows combined with an upgraded sway bar helped stop the sway of coming out of a driveway tremendously. Sway from wind and being passed by trucks was also greatly reduced. The addition of upgraded shocks make it so that I can drive one handed the majority of the time now. Recently had the chance to test these in a long run of coastal highway one in northern CA, they made the extremely windy road a pleasure to drive, even with the bad road conditions. Only scored a 4 and not a 5 because they do not solve all of the issues by themselves, but are an integral part of a total solution. 663600

One year later Ive since upgraded the front suspension as well and Im still loving the ride. The idea of driving in adverse conditions no longer impacts trip planning.

Great product. Very easy to install. I installed Sumo springs front and rear on my class C Sprinter-based RV (Winnebago View) as part of a suspension upgrade to improve handling in cross winds. The other suspension upgrades included a Hellwig rear sway bar and Bilstein rear shocks. The handling improvement was dramatic. No more sway when being passed by semi’s and much, much better handling in cross winds. I am very happy with the Sumo springs. 656765

This product does what it says it will do. One of the issues that I have is the difficulty to install this product. The 2020 Ram 1500 on the passengers side has a stabilizing bar that interferes installing all the nuts on the rear of the mounting plate spring. My truck supposedly has a 1 inch lift from the factory (Big Horn North Edition). I used the plastic extension as recommended in the installation instructions and even with the 1 inch factory lift, using the plastic spacer makes the spring rest on the rear axle with no load in the truck. I'd recommend to not install with the plastic spacer. The ride is much stiffer but I'm OK with that as when my trailer is attached the ride is as expected. 764466

SumoSprings really improved the ride on my 2018 Thor Axis 24.1 It is much easier to drive the twisty roads in the mountains with this product because the motorhome does not lean as much. 610794

I pull a 24 ft trailer w/ one slide out. It weighs roughly 5K (more loaded). My RAM 1500 is well balanced for the tongue weight and , of course, when not pulling, the truck drives as if the sumos were not there-which they are NOT when the weight comes off. I have noticeably more control overall. Glad to have purchased these. They were installed by Dodge dealership--no issues. A great product. 674123

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

On a 2015 Ram 1500. The Sumo springs work great. I went from a loaded ride height of 35 inches to 36 1/4 inches. But the real improvement is in the ride. No longer have the squishy rear end wobble that I used to have. Combined with my weight distributing hitch my ride height improves to 37 1/2 inches. Truck is level along with my travel trailer. When I'm not loaded I don't even notice that I did anything. Still rides like factory. My only complaint is in the installation. Eight nuts with washers per spring and there is no space at all on multiple nuts to fit a so met or even a ratcheting wrench. Took about an hour in my driveway. Other than this minor inconvenience, I have to say excellent product. 347254

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

The SuperSpring Solo work as advertised. They definitely help level the load when pulling my 27' camper. My only complaint is that they fit so tight (1/4" gap) between the bottom of the SuperSpring and the axle that as soon you load anything you are already using the SuperSpring. I would have preferred a little more of the oem suspension for day to day driving. 660605

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

I Received the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs shipment today and installed them on my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 standard cab long bed truck. It took about 30 minutes to install the helpers springs. I watched the install video and read the installation instructions on the etrailer website while waiting for the shipment to arrive. They were easy to install without jacking up the truck, I laid flat on my back and slid under the truck on my garage floor and had no problems at all. After installation I hooked up my 20 ft travel trailer and went on a test drive. The helper springs made a big difference and gave a more solid stable performance with the truck while towing my 5,000 lb travel trailer. I've installed airbags on previous trucks and I believe for the money and easy installation this is the best option to improve towing performance. 725590

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

Purchased for a Tacoma 4 dr, long bed, with a fiberglass cap. I have the TSB/recall replacement spring pack. With this set up I had a decent ride, and better support over the OEM springs, but still see that the springs provided only minimal improvement when loading in the bed say 300-500#. If so loaded (camp gear, MC gear, 2-3 persons in cab) on moderate unpaved roads the OEM springs were at max load and had we too much frame sag. WITH the addition of the SumoSpring kit I found my truck when UNLOADED handled the same, but did have less body roll in the rear. At rest the frame rail is just touching the SumoSpring and wheel well to ground is 36 1/2" with P245 tires. When LOADED as detailed above, the rear feels firmer, has less body roll, and does not sag to excess like the OEM spring pack. Very satisfied with results. A very nice enhancement at a excellent price point. Kit is simple to install and should require no regular service/adjustment. 353831

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

I installed both the front ( SSF-106-40-47) and rear (SSR-338-47) SumoSpring suspension enhancement devices on my 2015 Winnebago View which is on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis. The vehicle is a bit top heavy and cross winds made the coach sway back and forth as did entering and leaving driveways and cornering on sharp curves. At times, this was scary and I was afraid it would lose control. I had a professional body shop install these for me for a very reasonable price, and upon leaving their shop, I felt the difference immediately. When I saw the original equipment pieces, I thought they were a joke. These new items touch the suspension at all times on the rear and are only 1/2" away from contact on the front. This has been a slightly over $400 investment in driving safety and is worth every cent. I literally said "WOW" out loud as I entered the freeway ramp: minimal sway with a good feeling of control. I highly recommend these devices. 524978

Review from a similar SumoSprings Solo in Vehicle Suspension

2009 Chevy Colorado 4x4. Leaf springs were getting a bit weak and $600+ to replace with a set of overload springs, so I found this. Even empty, a rough road would knock your fillings out of your teeth, so I thought I would take a chance on these. I was a bit worried about breaking a bolt getting the old bump stops off since I live in rust country and the truck is 10 years old. But came right off and the new ones installed quickly. I had removed wheels since I was also putting on a new set of Bilstein shocks on the rear. The urethane seems to be a pretty tough material that should hold up well. I did need to jack up the body of the truck about a half inch to provide the necessary clearance since the Sumosprings are significantly taller than the factory bumpstops. Even with a 1000 lb load, the truck rides smoothly over the worst of bumps, without the teeth-rattling "ker-chunks" of driving over a rough road. Delivery was fast, as usual with e-trailer.com. I am considering a set for my Chevy 3500 to tame the rear end on that when traveling unloaded... 633668

Installed these rear SSR-338-54 and front SSF-106-47 on my 2016 Mercedes Sprinter RV conversion (Thor Citation 24SR) Easy install. Did this myself and only had to jack up each side of the RV about 6 in. Didn't have to get the tires off the ground or removed the tires. The hardest part of the front where getting the bolts back in through the recessed hole in the suspension to bolt them in place. The rear locked right into place. Total install time about an hour. Only a short trip taken so far but sway seems to have been reduced. Will do a long trip soon to test out. 570539
