Front Suspension Support

A heavy front load can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.


Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.


Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.


The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.


Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

Speaker 1: Today, we'll be taking a look at the SumoSprings Solo Line of Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle. You'll want to use eTrailer's fit guide to determine the correct kit for your vehicle. This is what our SumoSprings look like when installed. Yours may look a little different depending on your vehicle.They're gonna replace our factory jounce stops and sit right between our frame and our rear axle. So whenever we're carrying a heavy load, they're gonna give us that extra support that we need. The way our SumoSprings are gonna work is when our suspension starts to sag from the heavy load, these are gonna absorb a lot of that weight.They are gonna work independently from each other so it's gonna help with those off-center loads.

Our springs are gonna have a progressive rate to 'em. So if we have a light load, they're gonna compress softly, still giving us that comfortable ride. But the heavier load we put on 'em, the more they're gonna compress and the more firmness they're gonna have to them.Now comparing to our factory jounce stop, you can see there's a big difference in height. These are gonna give us a lot more compression, whereas our factory jounce stops are really just preventing the axle from hitting the frame.We have a water tank at the bed of our truck as a heavy load or to simulate the tongue weight of a heavy trailer or a fifth wheel. So as I take the truck through my test course, I can definitely tell that there's a load back there.

The engine doesn't seem to be strained that much, but the bumps are extremely harsh and I can definitely feel it resonating through the seat.When I come to the slalom course and I'm going through the turns, it definitely has a lot of body roll and I just generally feel like I need to slow down because it feels likes it's leaning a lot and it's not responding quickly enough to the turns.Now that we have our SumoSprings installed and I have the same load back there, when I'm driving through our course, I can immediately tell a difference. It's much of a smoother ride. Going over the bumps really doesn't feel like anything's back there and it's just a lot more comfortable.When I come into the slalom course, it definitely feels a lot more stable and it doesn't seem to sway as much side to side and it just generally feels like it wants to go faster.These are made of a durable micro cellular urethane that works in temperatures from -25 degrees to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and resists damage caused by oils, road salts and UV rays. Compared to air bags, these are maintenance free option with no tubes to run or air pressure to maintain. Both will help level your load and provide a smoother ride.

This product does what it says it will do. One of the issues that I have is the difficulty to install this product. The 2020 Ram 1500 on the passengers side has a stabilizing bar that interferes installing all the nuts on the rear of the mounting plate spring. My truck supposedly has a 1 inch lift from the factory (Big Horn North Edition). I used the plastic extension as recommended in the installation instructions and even with the 1 inch factory lift, using the plastic spacer makes the spring rest on the rear axle with no load in the truck. I'd recommend to not install with the plastic spacer. The ride is much stiffer but I'm OK with that as when my trailer is attached the ride is as expected. 764466

On a 2015 Ram 1500. The Sumo springs work great. I went from a loaded ride height of 35 inches to 36 1/4 inches. But the real improvement is in the ride. No longer have the squishy rear end wobble that I used to have. Combined with my weight distributing hitch my ride height improves to 37 1/2 inches. Truck is level along with my travel trailer. When I'm not loaded I don't even notice that I did anything. Still rides like factory. My only complaint is in the installation. Eight nuts with washers per spring and there is no space at all on multiple nuts to fit a so met or even a ratcheting wrench. Took about an hour in my driveway. Other than this minor inconvenience, I have to say excellent product. 347254

My only complaint is that they fit so tight (1/4" gap) between the bottom of the SuperSpring and the axle that as soon you load anything you are already using the SuperSpring. I Received the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs shipment today and installed them on my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 standard cab long bed truck. It took about 30 minutes to install the helpers springs. I watched the install video and read the installation instructions on the etrailer website while waiting for the shipment to arrive. They were easy to install without jacking up the truck, I laid flat on my back and slid under the truck on my garage floor and had no problems at all. After installation I hooked up my 20 ft travel trailer and went on a test drive. The helper springs made a big difference and gave a more solid stable performance with the truck while towing my 5,000 lb travel trailer. I've installed airbags on previous trucks and I believe for the money and easy installation this is the best option to improve towing performance. 725590

Purchased for a Tacoma 4 dr, long bed, with a fiberglass cap. I have the TSB/recall replacement spring pack. With this set up I had a decent ride, and better support over the OEM springs, but still see that the springs provided only minimal improvement when loading in the bed say 300-500#. If so loaded (camp gear, MC gear, 2-3 persons in cab) on moderate unpaved roads the OEM springs were at max load and had we too much frame sag. WITH the addition of the SumoSpring kit I found my truck when UNLOADED handled the same, but did have less body roll in the rear. At rest the frame rail is just touching the SumoSpring and wheel well to ground is 36 1/2" with P245 tires. When LOADED as detailed above, the rear feels firmer, has less body roll, and does not sag to excess like the OEM spring pack. Very satisfied with results. A very nice enhancement at a excellent price point. Kit is simple to install and should require no regular service/adjustment. 353831

Great product. Very easy to install. I installed Sumo springs front and rear on my class C Sprinter-based RV (Winnebago View) as part of a suspension upgrade to improve handling in cross winds. The other suspension upgrades included a Hellwig rear sway bar and Bilstein rear shocks. The handling improvement was dramatic. I pull a 24 ft trailer w/ one slide out. It weighs roughly 5K (more loaded). My RAM 1500 is well balanced for the tongue weight and , of course, when not pulling, the truck drives as if the sumos were not there-which they are NOT when the weight comes off. 2009 Chevy Colorado 4x4. Leaf springs were getting a bit weak and $600+ to replace with a set of overload springs, so I found this. Even empty, a rough road would knock your fillings out of your teeth, so I thought I would take a chance on these. I was a bit worried about breaking a bolt getting the old bump stops off since I live in rust country and the truck is 10 years old. But came right off and the new ones installed quickly. I had removed wheels since I was also putting on a new set of Bilstein shocks on the rear. The urethane seems to be a pretty tough material that should hold up well. I did need to jack up the body of the truck about a half inch to provide the necessary clearance since the Sumosprings are significantly taller than the factory bumpstops. Even with a 1000 lb load, the truck rides smoothly over the worst of bumps, without the teeth-rattling "ker-chunks" of driving over a rough road. Delivery was fast, as usual with e-trailer.com. I am considering a set for my Chevy 3500 to tame the rear end on that when traveling unloaded... 633668

Installed these rear SSR-338-54 and front SSF-106-47 on my 2016 Mercedes Sprinter RV conversion (Thor Citation 24SR) Easy install. Did this myself and only had to jack up each side of the RV about 6 in. Didn't have to get the tires off the ground or removed the tires. The hardest part of the front where getting the bolts back in through the recessed hole in the suspension to bolt them in place. The rear locked right into place. Total install time about an hour. Only a short trip taken so far but sway seems to have been reduced. Will do a long trip soon to test out. 570539

  • Will SumoSprings Lift the Front End of a 2017 Ford F-350
    Because the SumoSprings # SSF-111-54 will always be engaged on your 2017 Ford F-350 the stock suspension will not compress as much as it normally would. This will give you the feeling that there is lift though it isn't actually lifting anything it is just preventing the normal amount of stock suspension compression. You could go with a softer spring set, # SSF-111-40, which would allow the stock suspension to compress more than the heavier duty SumoSprings.
