Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your rear coil springs to defeat driver fatigue and add better support for heavy loads. Most factory coil suspensions have a difficult time hauling added weight. The rear coils may struggle with supporting the extra load placed on your rear axle when you're towing a trailer or using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or bike rack. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while driving to your campsite.

Coil SumoSpring installed between rungs of coil spring

Inside each helper spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils to make your ride more comfortable. Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to the rung of an individual coil in your rear coil springs. Included zip-ties also aid in securing the helper springs to your coil springs. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support weight, keeping your truck level.

Unlike air springs that fit inside your coil springs, these polyurethane springs require no air pressure monitoring, and they are easier to install. Say goodbye to air lines, valves and air tanks and hello to maintenance-free suspension support. Unbumpify your ride with Coil SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

Video Transcript for SuperSprings Vehicle Suspension - Front Axle Suspension Enhancement - CSS-1125 Review

Today, we're going to review part number CSS-1125. These are by Super Springs. These are the coil sumo springs custom helper springs for front or rear axle coil spring suspension. This part number is a custom fit part number. It does fit many cars. What I would recommend is to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it will show you if this part number will work for your application.

This does include the helper springs, the zip ties, and some detailed instructions. These are helper spring inserts and will increase the ride comfort and enhance your coil suspension's ability to support loads. The actual insert itself has an inner core of microcellular polyurethane foam, provides cushioning and support, and it will adjust progressively to the weight of your load. The more loads you put on your vehicle, the stiffer they become. It also helps reduce body roll, helps level your truck, and it's able to withstand extreme temperatures. These are very durable springs because they resist damage caused by abraision, oil, road salt, even UV rays. They do install easily on either the front or the rear suspension coils.

Basically, what you would do is insert these between the individual coils of each coil spring and again, they are custom fit for your vehicle. They do come with the additional zip ties to help hold this helper springs in place. They do require no maintenance. Again, it includes these two helper springs. They are made in the USA. Again, the application is for front or rear coil spring suspension.

You do have to remember these are designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. One other note is the coil sumo springs do not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. That's important, but you want to make sure is you do not exceed the manufacturer's weight limit for your vehicle. That should do it for the review of part number CSS-1125, the Super Springs coil sumo springs custom helper springs for front or real axle coil spring suspensions. .

The product was easy to install and really helped with the extra load of pulling a trailer and having a packed car. Towed a 6'x 9' trailer from CA to NC with about 2500 lbs of extra weight. When not towing or having an extra load car still rides good. Worth the money. 348033

Hey Jake, does your CR-V handle that load pretty good? How much Id the weight ? Im buying a 14ft long, 5ft wide ,5ft high, enclosed trailer and need to go from ky to Ga to pick it up, so I was wondering if I need these spring helpers.Thank you and God bless you and yours , Gary

Gary,The CRV seems to handle ok not great, but ok with this load. Were at about 1800 lbs with the race car and trailer. Im not sure how much the helpers changed the handling, but they did fix the sag at the rear with a load. Hope this helps Gary!

I used the Sumo Springs on a 2014 VW Passat TDI SEL in the rear. I like the product, my car always had that overloaded look I tow a small trailer and the car's suspension was to soft. The Sumo spring Support works great on my car the car came up about half inch and under load it gives the needed support I was locking for. I also like that I have not to mess around with any air adjustment and it tis maintenance free. The install was easy and I was done in about 45 minutes. The toughest part was to cut it for the instructed length for my car. 138071

I have a 2008 CR-V LX I use to pull at Little Guy 5 wide teardrop trailer and there are no heavy duty strut options available. So after much research I settled on these and decided to buy them from etrailer.com. The installation was just as easy as everyone has stated on other reviews. All I had to do was jack up the rear end and pull the tires and the slide on without any lubrication at all..just cleaned off the springs and they slid right on. The CSS-1125R will need to be trimmed but that was easy too for two reasons. 1st they are very easy to cut with a razor knife and 2nd the overlap position was easy to find and reproduce because it fell right on one of the holes the the zip ties go through. Probably the hardest part was making sure they were in the same place on both sides of the vehicle but that is not a problem at all if you have access to both sides at the same time.I haven't hooked up the trailer but I could tell immediately that the suspension performance was improved on cornering and the way it handles railroad tracks and potholes. My mechanic went so far as to say he tell the difference just by driving out of his driveway. Hopefully I can come back and give an update after my 2500 mile trip pulling the LG 5W. 135785

Easy install in 15 minutes. It did help with sag and I noticed an immediate difference on the positive side. I installed these on a Honda Pilot used for towing a small Teardrop trailer. I am using these in conjunction with Timbren bump stops and am pleased with the results. I was going to install airbags but did not want the hassle of checking air pressure and these being maintenance free was a good option. 115067

If you want to help with sag I suggest putting in air bags. The super springs do help but air bags will let you adjust height about 1 to 2 inches.

If you want to level out your Pilot try Airbags from Firestone or Ready Lift. You can adjuct hieght about 1 or 2 inches. I installed the Ready Lift 2 inch lift kit but still might do the airbags down the line but I am happy with the Super Springs and lift kit!

I installed these on my 2013 six passenger Hyudai Santa Fe Limited the instal was easy, just watch the video and you will have no problem. The helpers do just that they add a little more resistance to the spring compression. They raised the rear of the vehicle 1/4 of a inch barely noticeable to the naked eye but I measured before and after the instalation. The ride feels the same but when you load the rear with additional weight or when my trailer is hitched up the rear sag is less. I would guess it helps about 300 to 400 pounds worth. 134957

Installed sumo springs on my 2007 Toyota Prius. They installed fairly easily in about 15 minutes per wheel. I had to trim approximately 3 inches off of each sumo spring. I used ivory soap bar to lubricate the springs before install. The rear of the car was raised maybe 2 inches as a result. I do not notice any adverse changes in the handling of the vehicle when not loaded. Moving cross country soon and need to load up vehicle so not bottoming rear springs. overall very pleased with the product. Received Quick delivery of product from etrailer. 461593

2010 Jeep Patriot

I install it on my 2010 Jeep Patriot to level my rear suspension when towing a heavy tongue weight trailer (under Jeep maximum tongue weight rating) such as this product is advertised for, but it just do nothing. It doesn't increase my rear suspension level by even a quarter inch! Moreover, this product cause very bad "bouncing" of my rear suspension when loaded who make the driving of the trailer very unstable and very dangerous. I finally agreed to a return and a refund with etrailer.com via SuperSprings (California) customer service. But I still lost the price of the incoming and return shipping. In conclusion, save your money and purchase heavy duty coil springs instead. 92731

I installed these on a 2014 equinox with a 4-banger. Took me 10 min to install, suv didnt sag as much when my small boat was attached. Ride quality was same as before. I sold the car awhile back and the springs went with. I would recommend to a friend though. I installed these on my 2010 Toyota Highlander FWD before starting a year long trip towing a 18ft camper trailer around the western USA. The Highlander did not have any options to “beef up” the rear suspension, so I installed these on the rear springs. They improved the ride and reduced the rear end “squatting”. We are 7 months and 13,000 into the trip and they are still doing great. 618035

2014 Toyota Highlander These Highlander things have the wiggles & leans badly, certain roads are worse than others, but after I installed these (About 20 Min. Total and Very Simple.) There is a definite improvement ! Although these seem way over priced, I am hoping they will last a heck of a long time, but only time will tell?? So If you can afford them it will make a positive improvement and dampen those dreaded wiggles & leans. I have yet to pull my trailer or add the wheel chair lift, but I am happy just with the way they are without it. 241910

Works great for what I needed. I had issues with the rear of the 2016 Highlander bottoming out when loaded (5 people, luggage and a hitch bike rack). After installing this, the ride has improved. I had 5 people, full interior cargo area, 21 cubic foot cargo box on top and a hitch cargo carrier. While I did get some sag in the rear, I did not have the harsh bottom outs that I was getting with a much less loaded vehicle before. 425538

I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander with a hitch mounted cargo box and am moving and vacationing at the same time. Therefore have a lot of weight in the vehicle, though not even close to the max vehicle weight or axel weight. However the vehicle significantly sags in the rear. I'm glad I found theses helper springs as they did make a significant difference in reducing the sag (probably by an inch) and therefore handling of the vehicle (steering, body roll, etc.). I was actually very surprised at the difference it made in the handling. To note, I drove with the load without the helper springs from VA To SCand then with the helper springs from SC to OH before reviewing. They were also very easy to install. I only jacked up the rear end and slipped them on (without soapy water) in less than 15 mins with zip ties. The results from the product were well worth the purchase and will be recommending to friends and family. In regards to Etrailer, they ended up being out of stock after I purchased the item and they quickly called to let me know and when they'd become available (only a couple days for them to get the product, no big deal). Always great customer service. 282917

The Sumo coil springs helpers did help with the rear spring sag and subsequent unweighting of the front end when my 2015 Toyota Highlander is hooked to our 20 ft 3,000 lb Winnebago Micro Minnie trailer. The steering felt better after installing the Sumos, but I had hoped for a bit more support from them, however the situation is definitely better with them than without them. 312051

Review from a similar SuperSprings SumoSprings Coil in Vehicle Suspension

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it. First off, the Toyota Highlander is built on a car suspension, not a truck suspension, so a lot of the towing accessories you can get for trucks do not apply. I have a boat and trailer that weight approximately 2200 lbs, and the tongue weight although not too big causes the rear end of my highlander to sink a bit more than I'd like, and you could feel the car suspension bounce a little bit too much when the trailer bounced. I purchased this product and had my mechanic install it. It did just what I expected, and the ride is much better now. Plus when the trailer is not attached, the little bit of rise makes the vehicle look meaner to the point where I might just paint sharks teeth on the front bumpers (okay maybe not, but I thought about it). 248527

2015 Highlander XLE AWD. It works for what I intended. The hitch raised 1 1/2" under load. The load was around 1000lbs in the vehicle and a 250lb cargo basket on the hitch. If you count the hitch and misc items in the vehicle, the load would was 1350lbs out of the 1445lb payload. Without the sumosprings, it easily bottomed out. It does not level like an air bag system, however it improves the ride dramatically under load and does not bottom out. Most of the negative reviews I read were people expecting their highlander to tow a travel trailer. Not a vehicle I would choose for the job. Even light travel trailers have high tongue weights. Add people, a weight distributing hitch, equiptment and your payload is gone. The ride does not change unloaded. Until a better product is available, I'll be sticking with this one. Installation was very simple. 470414

Not as easy to install as noted in the documentation; Otherwise, they are performing as advertised. I have not lost the ride quality yet I noticed a difference pulling our fully loaded trailer with the Jeep or the bikes. Much better handling. I would have preferred air bags, but these are doing the job. 555912

I installed on a 2014 Ford Expedition EL. I should have done this last year, it made it handle like it was new again both loaded down and when it was just me driving. It also retained the stock ride feeling with no harsh or roughness to speak of. For the folks that have a strut style rear suspension and put any kind if weight in their suv's and/or pull a tralier, this is a must. Also, no mentionable increase in ride height. 403904

On my Element, one side was almost impossible to get on. Not a fault of the product, most likely a fault of the strut with 170K mile on it. They do fit, but you might have to battle a bit on older Elements. Once installed the sumo spring really made a difference. No more saggy butt syndrome. I will have to report back later with updates on how it handles with loads and back roads. 417791

I received the Sumo Springs Coil Helper yesterday and was able to install it in less than an hour on my 2007 Odyssey. May be even quicker if I had a better jack(i had to lift one side at a time). My van now has raised significantly. With a three Mountain bike rack, camping gear loaded with the roof box, the van's rear end was too sagged. I gained close to two inches after installation. I do notice a difference in the cushioning, but that is very marginal. Overall, I am very happy about this product and would recommend if your car's rear end needs a lift/ support. Installation was very simple with the hand soap applied. I will do a follow-up review after few weeks when I put a few hundred miles for my summer trips. 538473

Very easy to install, only took about 30 min but I work slow and carefully. Haven't tried them yet but i am sure they will help a lot. 350917

  • SuperSprings SumoSpring Compatibility with 2012 Toyota RAV4
  • The Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension - Rear Axle # CSS-1125R will fit coils with a measurement of 1.25 inches between coils according to my contact at SuperSprings. It most likely won't be different for the AWD model but they have only tested for the rear wheel drive at this time. If you measure your coils, you will be able to confirm if it is a fit or not. The only confirmed fit suspension enhancement we have for both the 2WD and 4WD RAV4 for the 2012...

  • Choosing Between Coil Sumo Springs and Firestone Coil-Rite Helper Springs on 2012 Toyota RAV4
  • A suspension enhancement product like the SumoSprings # CSS-1125R or Firestone Coil-Rite # F4174 are primarily designed to suspend the weight of cargo carried in the vehicle itself. It's not always the best choice for counteracting the vehicle squat caused by the tongue weight of a trailer being applied to the vehicle. The SumoSpring or Coil-Rite can in some circumstances act like a fulcrum, causing the load on the front axle to lighten, which can lead to decreased braking performance and...

  • Difference Between Coil SumoSprings for 2014 VW Golf
  • There is just a slight difference in size between the two parts; the Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1125R have a 1.25" inner wall height and are 2.5" tall and 6" in diameter. The Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1145R have a 1.45" inner wall and are 3" tall and 6.5" in diameter. Each of these springs are a fit for your 2014 VW Golf and though neither is stiffer than the other, they work by becoming stiffer depending on the load. Both products install the same on your Golf's coil springs and will give...

  • Will the SuperSprings Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1125R Fit a 2013 Rav4 Rear Suspension
  • The SuperSprings Coil SumoSprings, # CSS-1125R, have been confirmed to fit your 2013 Toyota RAV4. I pulled these springs from our warehouse to make a video for you to give you an idea of what they look like. These springs are 6-1/8 inches in diameter. They have an overall height of 2-1/2 inches. The thickness is 3/4 inch and the height of the inner portion of the spring is 1-1/4 inch.

  • Is Wheel Alignment Needed After Installing Coil SumoSprings Helper Springs on 2017 Subaru Outback
  • The SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1125R referenced in your question are confirmed to fit your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon. A wheel alignment is not needed as a result of installing this kit. The wedge-shaped springs will simply fit between the individual coils of your existing springs for additional support and cushion. I have attached the written installation instructions that you can also take a look at.

  • Will SumoSprings Kit Affect Unloaded Ride Height of 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • The SumoSpring kit part # CSS-1125R will not affect the unloaded ride height of your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon. It'll help reduce sag when you are towing but would not make the vehicle sit up any higher without a load on the vehicle.

  • Recommended Rear Coil Helper Springs for 1999 Honda CR-V
  • In your 1999 Honda CR-V you can use SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1069R in the rear coil springs to add suspension support. These install without drilling and fit both 2WD and 4WD versions of your CR-V. They are designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order to provide additional stiffness when under load. The Super Springs Coil Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1125R fit later model years of the CR-V but not your 1999.

  • Will SuperSpring Coil Inserts Fit on a 2009 Subaru Legacy
  • If you can provide me with some measurements of your coil springs, I can determine if any of our SuperSprings Coil Inserts will work on your 2009 Subaru Legacy. Unfortunately SuperSprings has not tested any of their coil inserts with your vehicle, but we may be able to find something that will work. If you can send me the overall diameter of your coil spring, the distance between each coil and the diameter of the spring coil, I can see if we have an insert that will work for you. I...

  • Suspension Enhancement for a 2011 Honda CR-V EX
  • We are accurate, it is # CSS-1125R that is the correct fit for the 2011 Honda CR-V. I have even confirmed this with Super Springs. If the CR-V is bottoming out because it is coupled to a trailer then you will want to keep an eye on the tongue weight of the trailer. The CR-V is rated for 150 pounds tongue weight, check the owners manual to confirm, so a higher tongue weight could be one reason that is happening. The SumoSprings # CSS-1125R will firm up the suspension though and help...

  • Best Weight Distribution Option for 3000 lb Travel Trailer Towed by 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander V6
  • As a first step, I'd recommend you confirm the towing capacity of your vehicle. According to my research, V6 models of the Outlander have a 2000 lb towing capacity, while AWD versions have a 3500 lb towing capacity. Please confirm this with your owner's manual or your dealer. If your vehicle proves to have the 2000 lb tow capacity, I wouldn't tow that trailer with your Outlander. To choose a weight distribution system, you'll need to first determine the fully loaded and ready to tow...

  • What is the Difference between the SuperSprings Coil Insert # CSS-1125 and # CSS-1125R
  • The SuperSprings Coil Spring Inserts, # CSS-1125 and # CSS-1125R, are the same exact part and both will fit your 2011 Honda CR-V EX-L. The actual part number from SuperSprings is CSS-1125, but we put an R or an F on the end of the part numbers for these products to indicate if it is used for Rear coils springs or Front coil springs on a particular vehicle. For example, on your CR-V, these springs are used on the rear coil springs, so we put an R at the end of the part number. These...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2010 4WD Toyota RAV4
  • I have rear suspension enhancement that I can recommend for your 2010 Toyota RAV4 but I checked with SuperSprings and they do not list their # CSS-1125R as a fit for the 4 wheel drive models. Instead you would want the Firestone kit part # F4174 which is a confirmed fit and would work well to provide you with rear suspension support. I attached an install video for this kit for you to check out as well.

  • Can AirLift 1000 Rear Axle Helper Spring # AL60815 Support Trailer with 600-lbs Tongue Weight
  • The rear-axle air bag kit you referenced, AirLift 1000 Helper Spring # AL60815, provides up to 1000-lbs of load leveling at its maximum pressure rating of 35-lbs psi. Your trailer with approximately 600-lb tongue weight would certainly fall within the operating range for this product. If you are towing often and frequently have widely varying trailer weights then an adjustable air bag kit like this AirLift 1000 is a good choice for adding rear-end support. If your trailer weight is fairly...

  • Is Installation of Rear SumoSprings the Same as Front SumoSprings on a 2010 Subaru Forester
  • The instructions for the Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1125R are typical, generic instructions for the SumoSprings regardless of front or rear. You are correct though you would stabilize the front wheels of the vehicle and adjust your installation accordingly for the rear where needed when following the instructions to install them on the rear axle. However, on your 2010 Subaru Forester there are some special trimming instructions you will need. For these instructions you will need to contact...

  • Helper Springs for Sagging 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander
  • I have never heard of anyone end up with a broken spring when using SumoSprings such as # CSS-1125R. If that did ever happen it was probably because those people thought that they could overload the vehicle because they were using the SumoSprings. Which is not true, the vehicle capacity remains the same, it is just better supported. With that said adding the SumoSprings will not grant you much, if any, additional height. They will help to keep the vehicle level if it is sagging. But...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancements for a 2005 Volkswagen Passat TDI
  • I called my contact at Firestone and they informed me that the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F4105 are not compatible with the TDI versions of the 2005 Volkswagen Passat due to the rear shocks mounting location. For a similar rear suspension enhancement option that is compatible with the TDI version of your vehicle, I recommend using the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension part # CSS-1125R. These SumoSprings are designed to increase ride...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2016 Subaru Outback Towing Camper Trailer
  • Yes, the SumoSprings part # CSS-1125R that you referenced are a confirmed fit for your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon and would eliminate the sag you are experiencing when towing as that's exactly what they are designed to do.

  • Will SumoSprings Helper Springs # CSS-1125R Stop Rear Sag in 2003 Honda Pilot
  • The SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension # CSS-1125R that you referenced are indeed a correct fit for the rear coil springs on your 2003 Honda Pilot. These microcellular polyurethane foam springs are intended to help support a suspension that is in good working order for times when it is carrying loads. When the Pilot is not under load, these springs will essentially be inactive; their resistance grows progressively with increased weight load. So, they will help...

  • Helper Springs for a 2002 Chevy Avalanche Z71 with 6 Inch Lift
  • Since the springs are longer than stock on your 2002 Chevy Avalanche air bags that fit inside the springs, such as # F4108 will not work. There are not spacers available that would work either. But I do have a solution for you. You could use Timbren springs # TGMRG25C for a 1500 or # TGMRSB4S for a 2500. Then you would need 8 of the 1 inch spacers, # A25723-90AH00, 4 for each side. Timbren does not recommend using any more spacers than that so there will still be a little travel before...

  • Suspension Recommendation for a 2006 Honda Pilot Towing a Tent Trailer
  • Both the Air Lift 1000 # AL60815 and Super Springs Custom Helper # CSS-1125R would give your 2006 Honda Pilot the added support to help with your sagging issue, however these systems were designed so suspend loads carried in the vehicle itself, not to level out a vehicle when towing. When towing a trailer it is best to look into a weight distribution system. With a weight distribution system, it will relieve the pressure on the back axle and distributes that weight evenly. I have attached...

  • Hitch and Carrier Recommendation for 2013 Toyota Rav4 for Carrying 350 lb Scooter
  • The Draw Tite hitch part # 75235 does have a 675 lb tongue weight rating so it would be rated high enough for the weight of your 350 lbs scooter. Installing the SumoSprings part # CSS-1125R would be a great option for allowing you additional suspension support. For a carrier we have the Ultra Fab part # UF48-979033 which is lighter weight at 51 lbs.

  • Suspension Enhancement for a 2006 Honda Pilot with a Strut in the Center of the Coil Spring
  • I spoke with my contact at Firestone and found out that some models of the 2006 Honda Pilot came with that strut while others did not. Since yours has it you cannot use the Coil-Rite springs # F4179. Since you have that strut, the only suspension enhancement option that will work are SuperSprings Coil SumoSprings, # CSS-1125R. These springs fit in the gaps of the coil spring. I have included a link to the installation details for you.

  • How To Eliminate Sag and Sway While Towing Boat Trailer With Subaru Outback Wagon
  • I do have a solution to not only prevent sway while towing your boat trailer with the 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon but also prevent sag. The Coil SumoSprings part # CSS-1125R are good for leveling out the vehicle and helps to reduce body roll but are not designed to help with the sway you have described. The 19MM Subaru Outback Rear Sway Bar Kit that you mentioned may eliminate rear sway at higher speeds but it is not going to eliminate the sag. I recommend a weight distribution system...
