1992 GMC C/K Series Pickup - SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit

  • SuperSprings
  • Leaf Springs
  • Heavy Duty
  • Rear Axle Suspension Enhancement
  • Constant Load

2,200-lb Capacity. Upgrade your rear suspension by installing these helper leaf springs above your GMC C/K Series Pickup's factory leaf springs. They significantly reduce sway and prevent sagging, which is perfect for towing or hauling heavy loads.

Features:

  • Reinforce your vehicle's rear suspension with extra leaf springs that prevent sagging and reduce sway by up to 30 percent
    • Work like sway bars to stabilize your OEM springs and keep them from twisting
    • Compensate for windy conditions, wind turbulence from big rigs, and weight shifts from cornering
    • Lift your truck when you are carrying a heavy load and prevent bottoming out
  • Adjust automatically to your payload
    • Rollers on each end of the SuperSprings activate when the OEM springs flex under load
    • Rollers deactivate when OEM springs aren't under load
  • Can be customized - the shackles attaching the SuperSprings provide several options for installation
    • Choose a setting that increases load support and ride height for constant heavy loads or to compensate for minor spring fatigue in an older automobile
    • Choose a setting that maintains the original factory ride conditions and minimizes effect on unloaded ride quality and height
    • Choose a medium setting that balances support, height, and ride comfort
  • Install easily - bolt on above your existing factory springs with no drilling required
    • For some models with factory springs that sit above the axle, the included poly spring pads prevent shifting
    • Dense polyurethane blocks seat between the top of the factory springs and the underside of the SuperSprings
  • Require no maintenance - no tubing or air pressure to monitor or adjust like air springs
  • Save money
    • Extend the life of brakes, tires, and factory suspension
    • Cost less than air spring systems
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Weight capacity: 2,200 lbs

  • 2-Year limited warranty for commercial applications

Overload Spring vs. Leaf Spring

Note: This kit is designed to fit a vehicle with factory top overload springs. As shown in the picture above, a top overload spring sits above the factory leaf spring pack.

SuperSprings diagram of roller and shackle system for extra leaf spring

These additional leaf springs add support and sway control to your existing OEM suspension. Just bolt on SuperSprings over your existing factory springs, and they automatically work when you need them. As the factory spring flexes, a roller at each end of the beefy helper spring reacts to engage the helper spring and to provide extra support. The springs help to better distribute cargo weight throughout your existing suspension, channeling that weight to the points on the frame that are designed to support heavy loads.

SuperSprings leaf spring installed on a vehicle

Placing these leaf springs above your factory springs helps to keep your OEM springs from twisting, so the SuperSprings act like a sway bar, reducing the body roll that makes driving more difficult and dangerous. With these helper springs, driving is safer and easier when it's windy, when your vehicle is rocked by a passing semi, and when you are cornering. The springs help to reduce sway by up to 30 percent. SuperSprings also allow more wheel travel in the rear suspension when they are under load, so they maintain traction and ride comfort better than rubber or polyurethane bumpers. That means they're great for drivers who frequently tow.

Truck before SuperSpringsTruck after SuperSprings

You can also customize the level of support provided by SuperSprings. For most models, the shackles that attach the helper leaf springs to your existing leaf springs have several installation options:

  • For greater support and ride height when your suspension is under a constant load or if you have an older automobile with some spring fatigue, install the helper springs using the upper bolt holes
  • To maintain the factory ride and reduce the effect on your ride height, install using the lower bolt holes
  • To balance support, height, and ride comfort, install using the upper hole on one end and the lower hole on the other

SuperSprings are a maintenance-free, low-cost alternative to air spring systems, which require constant monitoring and air pressure adjustment. These helper leaf springs respond automatically to the load you carry, so there is no crawling under your truck to adjust them. You'll also reduce wear and tear on your suspension, brakes, and tires, which saves you money. The bolt-on installation means that they are easy to fit - no drilling required.

Video Transcript for SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the SuperSprings lines of custom suspension stabilizer and sway control kits. You'll want to use etrailer's fit guide to determine the correct kit for your vehicle. Here's what our SuperSprings are going to look like once we have them installed. Now these are going to give us the support we need whenever we're hauling a heavy load or towing a heavy trailer. Typically, whenever we're hauling something extremely heavy our suspension wants to flex a lot and our back end sags down. Well these are going to provide us the extra support by activating whenever our suspension flexes, the rollers on the end of our leaf spring are going to activate our helper spring and provide us that extra support.

But also still giving us a nice ride when we're not towing something heavy, because it's going to deactivate those springs and still have a nice comfortable ride. And since they are attached to the front and back of our factory leaf springs, it's also going to act like a sway bar and it's going to prevent our leaf springs from twisting. Giving us a lot more stability when we're driving down the road. The multiple notches in the end here are going to provide us with a little bit of customization, depending on how much support we need. If we need more or if we just have a little bit of spring fatigue in our truck, it'll give us that little bit of lift so whenever we're towing something we don't have quite as much sag.We have a water tank in the bed of our truck as a heavy load or to simulate the tongue weight of a heavy trailer or a fifth wheel. So as I take the truck through my test course, I can definitely tell that there's a load back there.

The engine doesn't seem to be straining that much, but the bumps are extremely harsh and I can definitely feel it resonating through the seat. When I come to the slalom course and I'm going through the turns it definitely has a lot of body roll and I just generally feel like I need to slow down because it feels like it's leaning a lot and it's not responding quickly enough to the turns. The SuperSprings installed and I have the same load back there. When I'm driving through our course I can immediately tell a difference. The bumps aren't as harsh because the truck isn't sagging down as much and there's a little bit more support back there. But really where I tell a big difference is through the slalom course.

It definitely feels way more stable and even taking the turns going in and out, it just feels like it really wants to stick to the ground a lot better and just generally wants to go faster.Compared to airbags, these are a maintenance free option with no tubes to run or air pressure to maintain. Similar to airbags you can customize the level of support provided. Unlike airbags however you do this during the installation and set it one time rather than on the fly adjustability you get with airbags. And that completes our look at the SuperSprings line of custom suspension stabilizer and sway control kits.

Great item!! The Supersprings performed just as described. No more sag in the suspension and the benefit of better control. Installation was an hour with the help of an experienced mechanic and the right tools. If it wasn't for removing of the bumb stops on the axle, installation would have been faster. Expensive product, but it is a quality product and made in the USA. After install, the springs raised the rear of the truck about 2" to 3" when unloaded. Best part is that the springs didn't cause the truck to ride rough when unloaded. 21988

It a good product for 2017 Ford f150 except 1 factor that it had to mounted more toward the rear and the no bracket to hold it in place if I get a tire rotation or lift the vehicle from the rear the spring roll away and need to clamped while lowering the vehicle. I contacted Super directly to there warranty department and they sent me a lock down kit. It also Lifted the truck about a inch on low setting so I'm sitting at 39 inch in rear. 505177

Review from a similar SuperSprings Sway-Control in Vehicle Suspension

Product does just what it says it does. Installed them on a Thursday and towed with them that weekend....... and they did a great job. Handled the tongue weight of my dump trailer better. I did notice a decreased amount of "wave" effect when you are in tow and your heavy trailer hits a bump or swale in the road; and transfers that energy to the truck. Sorta feels like you got a heavy tail that someone is tugging on. This was significantly reduced and made for a pleasant ride Later on Sunday then threw a load of firewood (no trailer this time) in the bed full; and in comparison of a previous haul with wood the truck did not sag as much. My truck config is stock, double cab w/ 8' bed 4x4. I did not notice a stiffness in ride with and empty bed or no trailer in tow. Seemed to be just fine. Slightly raised the rear but with the long truck it is hardly noticeable. One part of the installation was a little difficult, when it came time to compress the leaf it was a bit of a chore. I did have a 5" c-clamp but it was getting tough the last few inches to get the roller underneath the stock leafs. If I had a special leaf spring clamp tool as shown on some of the youtube vids I would have been done in about a 1/2 hour but with out this tool it makes the compression part slow. 145702

Review from a similar SuperSprings Sway-Control in Vehicle Suspension

After having used partial and full ‘add-a-leaf’ kits on fleet trucks in the past, I was willing to give these a try. Having missed the stiffness of a 2500 rear end and having put 125k on a 1500 with a topper/camper shell, this was the progressive stiffness I was looking for. The vehicle sits 1.5” higher at the rear, isn’t overly stiff, alowing the Bilstein shocks to continue to do their job, properly. Adding the tow behind camper, along with a loaded bed, far less body sway without a compromised ride. I also utilized the SumoShocks (front and rear), for some time and I love them. Having everything together, as a package, works great for me when towing, the bed is loaded down and when I’m traveling 2hrs at a time from place to place, as a highway truck. This will take some serious C clamps (8” from hardware store) and some mechanical aptitude if using a jack and stand(s) in the garage. Overall, not too strenuous or hard. Nothing intimidating. I’d definitely recomend to anyone wanting to help tired leaf springs or when reducing body roll. 557350

Comments

The Sumo Springs continue to provide wonderful results. Many friends with 2500 trucks and onlookers at campgrounds are amazed when we tow our 38’ trailer weighing around 8k lbs when loaded, plus the truck bed loaded with wood and bikes, etc, the family and dog in the cab... All with little to no squat! The ride stays consistent to the 2500 feel I like and it allows me to keep my ol’ beater with high miles and a few thousand miles. I definitely recommend the Sumo Springs and their products. Again, having had their products on other vehicles with more than happy results, I don’t foresee ever purchasing a vehicle and not, at the least, including the rear bump stop supports and adding the leaf kit from there.

If you look at page 4 of the instructions which Ive linked for you, you can see photos showing a single leaf spring set up just like whats shown in the photos you provided thanks for the photos!. Im guessing that page was not included in your instructions for some reason.

Just installed and I loved how easy it was took 30 min tops. I expected a much stiffer rear end with the bed empty but was pleasantly surprised at how smooth the ride remained. I did notice a more stable and responsive feel while driving. All in all super impressed with the product so far, shipping was fast (ordered Saturday and received Wednesday, in canada) everything I needed was in the kit and it only raised the rear end up about 1/2". 316290

Very pleased! There are two settings, but I prefer the heavier capacity setting and higher in the rear feeling. It has made all the difference in the world with my long wheelbase 2002 Chevrolet Astro Van. I really do not feel that it has changed my ride comfort that much, very little, if any. I always have some kind of load on the van, whether hauling cargo in the van, or towing a trailer, that my ride is still as smooth as always. But, the remarkable thing is, that now my rear end isn't sagging to the ground like it always use to be, even without a load! I'm super pleased and would recommend these springs to everyone for the reasons I've shared above. 563128

This product is a must if you are looking for a pleasant ride empty, yet still have additional capacity when you need it. I purchased it because I haul a Lance 1062 camper and was not pleased with the air bag setup I had been using. The air bags would handle the load just fine, but I got a lot of side to side motion while going around corners. I even set each air bag up independent of the other. The SSA15 kit eliminated the side to side motion. It really does act like a sway bar. I recommend you remove the rear tires when you install, it will make it much easier. 485410

Product was delivered quickly and in good condition. These springs worked great on my 2003 F-150. They did add about 1" of lift to the rear end of the truck, but make for a level ride when trailering my boat or equipment trailer. 162484

Review from a similar SuperSprings Sway-Control in Vehicle Suspension

This product is excellent and easy to install w/o altering or affecting any OEM parts or infrastructure. It's truly an add-on. The springs added about 2-4 inches of clearance and balanced load more evenly throughout the vehicle. I noticed how the vehicle drove and cornered much better as well as adding to a balanced vehicle appearance. I'm very impressed and happy. Prior to installation I had loss of traction in front steering and that was gone after installation. I would not hesitate to buy this product again or to recommend it to anyone. The pricing and service was excellent. I love.......the product. I've attached a photo with a add-on trailer-hitched basket with weigh of about 300 lbs of overhang on the back of the vehicle. As you can observe the vehicle remains level and balanced with the load. 74881

These helper springs worked well. My truck didn't sag nearly as much with similar loads in it than it did before. Probably raised it around 4-5 inches when loaded and about an inch when not. Only complaint is the bolts holding the product to the adapter for a spring over axle setup are not of a high grade. They broke, but I may have overtightened them. I replaced them with some grade 8 bolts from the hardware store. They are only needed to hold the new spring in place when the vehicle is raised off the ground. They don't affect the performance of the product. 247201

These Supersprings are great! I carry my snowmobile in the back of my 2007 Tundra. The trucks ride is noticeably more firm without the bottoming- out that I had been experiencing. Pretty easy to install. Probably took me 6 hours maybe a little less. The worst part was getting my rear tires removed. The directions said this was not necessary but I highly recommend taking them off. Great product so far! ***** 5-Star rating from me! Ray Z. 33142

Superspring purchase was right on the mark. Gave George J. all the info on my truck, rv and what I was experiencing. He suggested the SSA5MTKT springs that they should take care of my problem. I installed them in 45 minutes, hooked to my rv and made a pull. I was able to pull at 65 and 70 mph with minimal bouncing and rocking. An increase of 1" in loaded ride height and 10-15 mph was perfect. Thanks George J. and the staff at Etrailer.com 229763

This is the 3rd set of supersprings I have purchased. I am completely satisfied with each set. I have a set on a 30 foot class C motor home and it solved a swaying problem plus giving a better ride. I had a set on a F 150 that I sold, so when I got a new pickup I needed another set. The supersprings completely solve any towing and hauling issues. I have a Ranger pickup that I tow behind the motor home and haul a motorcycle in it. The motorcycle makes the little pickup sag so I will be ordering a set of super springs for it. 227059

I got this to prevent bottoming out my truck when towing our travel trailer. Won't know for sure if this actually works until we load up. Having said that, the instructions provided with this are poor and talking with Supersprings tech support was frustrating. As mentioned elsewhere, you will need two "C" clamps to pre-load the spring and I wound up fabricating a 3" extension bracket for the brake lines; neither of which were mentioned in the instructions. I also removed the wheels to provide working space and air tools are definitely the way to go. On my '13 Tundra, the distance between the stock spring pack straps is 40" the same as the distance between the eyes on the Superspring. I was advised that the spring is mounted off-center to avoid conflict with the stock spring straps; however this in not mentioned in the instructions. This placed the Superspring about 4" forward of the center of the axel instead of centered on the axel. (see photos) This seems counterintuitive to me but we'll see. This added 1.5" in height to the rear of the truck. It took me 4 hours to install by my self, including time to fabricate the brake line extensions and dealing with Supersprings staff twice on the phone. During the second call, the tech mentioned that they get a lot of phone calls for Tundra installs, indicating to me that they already know there are issues with the product and instructions. In retrospect, I would look for a new spring pack if I was doing this again. Hopefully my suspicions are unfounded but I'm hanging on to the box just incase. Etrailer was great with the best price anywhere and quick shipping. 108092

I just finished the installation. I ran into a few problems specific to the 2008 F350 dually that were not called out in the instructions. I had to loosen all of the parking brake cable mounts running along the spring on the left side to get the spring in, and I had to modify the brake cable bracket that mounts on the axle u-bolt bracket. It still only took about 1 1/2 hours to complete the job. I used the bottom hole on the front shackle and the center hole on the rear shackle and got about 2 inches rise which I needed for the Lance 1181 Camper I haul. It rides and performs much better than I expected. Great product that performs as advertised! 86608

Part arrived and looked great. Very easy to install. Only two things that can be fixed is that the springs only go on one way and they are not marked front/rear, and its not real clear how the the rubber spacer is used. I installed these on a 2005 ford F-150 Supercrew and I pull a 30 foot travel trailer. I have installed air bags to level the truck/trailer, but at 50psi the kids in the back seat got beat up due to the poor ride. I'm hoping these springs will level the truck/trailer and give us a better ride. We going up north this weekend and I hope i can re-post how the trip went. 280234

Installed on my 2018 Raptor and got 2.5 inches of lift back. I do overland with about 650lbs of gear on the back so I wouldn't expect the same results if you are not running as heavy as I am. I could immediately feel the ride difference and the install took less than an hour. 580228

Do you have a question about this Vehicle Suspension?

  • Can Gooseneck Hitch Be Installed on a 1995 F-350 7.3 Dually with Air Lift Air Bags Installed
  • No, the Air Lift frame brackets are in the location on the truck frame that the gooseneck hitch frame brackets need. This is going to be the case for any of the gooseneck trailer hitches for your 1995 Ford F-350. You could replace the air bags with a different helper spring system. If the truck does NOT have top overload springs you can use Roadmaster Active Suspension # RAS3611-HD. For a similar option you could use SuperSprings # SSA22 which will work with or without top overload springs. You...

  • Can a SuperSpring Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit Fit a 1999 Ford F-250 with an Air Bag Kit
  • You certainly can use a SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit on your 1999 Ford F-250 4WD with an air bag system installed. Out selection includes part # SSA16 with a 1,650 lb capacity, part # SSA22 with a 2,200 lb capacity, and part # SSA13 with a 3,000 lb capacity. These are more for highway use but if you were to use one of the two higher capacity system you would also need to install the Off-Road Poly Pad # P1KT. These will not fit vehicles with factory...

  • Compatibility of Different Suspension Enhancement Kits on 2017 Ford E-Series Cutaway
  • If a vehicle already has a Firestone rear axle air bag kit like # F2458 installed you cannot also install a Sumo Springs jounce spring kit like # SSR-130-54 but you really should not need to. But it may be possible to use a Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit like # SSA22 so long as the installation requirements do not interfere with your particular Firestone setup. The installation instructions and a video for kit # SSA22 are linked to show you how these install. This type of...

  • Suspension Enhancement for Leveling 2012 Ford F-250 When Pulling Fifth Wheel
  • The SuperSprings # SSA22 would be a smart choice to raise your 2012 Ford F-250 when pulling your fifth wheel. They are designed to prevent the sagging you are experiencing and should put you pretty close to level. If you take a look at the attached photo, you can clearly see the difference the springs will make. They have the additional perk of reducing sway, which I imagine can be an issue when towing a 42 foot trailer. I've added a link to a video install of these so you can take...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2003 Ford F-350 4x4
  • For your 2003 Ford F-350 4x4, I recommend the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA22 as well as the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs - 2 Piece - Rear Axle # SSR-101-47-2. These springs are designed to compress up to 50 percent under the load, but will not increase your weight carrying capacity. They are a bolt on installation and are maintenance free. They will help absorb bumps and shocks as well as keep your vehicle level. If body roll is your...

  • Air Lift or Helper Spring Recommendation for a 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty Towing a Camper Trailer
  • The product that will work best for you will depend on how you will be using your truck and why you are looking for a suspension enhancement system. If you are looking to level your truck because you do a lot of hauling with varying load weights and tow the trailer occasionally then the air bags would work well. I would recommend using the Air Lift LoadLifter air springs, # AL57298, for 2 wheel drive or, # AL57390 for 4 wheel drive models of the 2000 F250. I recommend these air bags...

  • SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer # SSA22 Recommendation for 2005 Ford F-350
  • This SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway-Control Kit # SSA22 that you referenced would be a good choice for your 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4x4 to help distribute weight throughout your existing suspension system. What is nice about this system is that it has different ride options that let you decide how much load support you would like and how much of the ride height you would like to adjust. I attached installation instructions for this product as well for you to...

  • Available Suspension Kits for 1997 Ford 2WD F-350 Dually Diesel Pickup
  • We do not offer a steering damper for your 2WD 1997 Ford F-350 dually diesel pickup but we do offer suspension enhancement kits for both front and rear axles that can be seen on the linked page. These kits include air bags like Firestone rear axle kit # F2071, jounce springs such as Timbren kit # TFRTT350E and helper leaf spring kits like SuperSprings # SSA22. The steering dampers we offer, such as Roadmaster # RM-RSSCP30, are for motorhome applications.

  • Helper Springs for a 2007 Ford F-250 4x4 with Overload Springs
  • On a truck that has overload springs, such as your 2007 Ford F-250, the overload springs could be on the top or bottom of the stack. It is often a smaller spring, yes, and it is not necessarily bound to the other springs. If the overload springs are on the top, like in the video I have linked showing installation, you can use # SSA22. For a model that has bottom overload springs you would use # SSA13 but this seems to be less common. I have also linked the instructions for each of these...

  • Sway Bar Recommendation for 2003 Ford F-350 4x4 Single Rear Axle
  • We have the Roadmaster sway bar part # RM-1139-153 which is a confirmed fit for your 2003 Ford F-350 4x4 with single rear wheel axle. This is a thicker 1-1/4 inch bar that replaces the sway bar you currently have. No other parts needed to install it. Another option you might consider is the SuperSprings kit part # SSA22. This will give you additional suspension support which will help with the camper and is known to act like a sway bar in that it reduces body roll and sway. This would...

  • Recommendation to Reduce Sag on Left Side of Class C Motorhome without Using Air Bags
  • To help level out your new RV that's built on the Ford E-350 chassis I recommend taking a look at the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFER35092B. These heavy-duty jounce-style springs will replace the factory bump stops on the rear axle to better support the RV's load and help to bring the left side of the coach up for a more level ride. A jounce-style spring system like this will definitely improve your existing left side sag but there is a chance that it won't lift it...

  • Which SuperSprings Kit Fits 2017 Ford F-250 4WD
  • The correct 2,200 lb capacity SuperSprings for your 2017 Ford F-250 4WD is the part # SSA22 that you referenced. These fit with or without the overload springs as well. It is a single leaf spring that matches the width of your leaf springs as well.

  • Will the Roadmaster Active Suspension Leaf Spring Kit Fit a 2005 Ford E-350 Cutaway Class B
  • I do have a very similar option for you in the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit part # SSA22 but I checked with RAS and they do not offer a Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit for a 2005 Ford E-350 Cutaway.

  • Are Helper Springs Available for a 1999 Ford F-350 with a 4 Inch Lift
  • First, we need to find out how your truck is configured. The 4 inch lift kit will not be a problem as long as your truck has not been fitted with aftermarket springs with the lift kit. In this case I would recommend that you go with a set of Super Springs, see link. The Super Springs will be working at all times to prevent body roll and enhance the suspensions ability. If your truck has dual gas tanks, some of the 1999 models still had this option, you will need to go with a shorter...

  • Can Air Bags be Installed on a 2013 Ford Super Duty with Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Install Kit
  • Based on where the Reese Elite Series kit # RP30126 installs you will not be able to install air bags due to the mounting requirements of the upper air bag brackets. I checked several brands and came to the same conclusion with all of them. But there are alternatives to air bags. One option is a set of SuperSprings # SSA22 which will provide additional support, reduce sag, and increase vehicle stability. There is also a model with a little more capacity, # SSA25, rated at 3,300 pounds...

  • Will Firestone Kit #F2400 Fit a Ford 2005 F350 4X4 with a Firestone Kit #F2176 Already Installed
  • The Firestone Kit # F2176 and Firestone Kit # F2400 do not have any interchangeable parts. The # F2176 that you already have installed is not compatible with the BandW Hitch you want to install. You will need to remove the air springs to install the BandW Hitch. With this being done, I would recommend Super Springs part # SSA22 which will work with the BandW Hitch part # 1108 you will be installing. By using part # SSA22 on your 2005 F350 4X4, it will not interfere in any way with the...
