All-In-One Suspension System

When towing or hauling a heavy load, you may encounter a number of problems that can make your driving experience difficult or dangerous, such as sway, body roll, or bottoming out. When your vehicle is weighted down, your factory leaf springs can't counteract these problems to the extent that they are supposed to. The weight will overpower the leaf springs and cause them to twist or flatten out. When that happens, they cannot support, level, or stabilize your vehicle effectively. Additionally, because your factory leaf springs are passive, they won't begin to tackle problems such as sway until those problems have already started.

Diagram of RAS Installed

Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS) kits enhance those passive leaf springs by converting them into a mechanically active, all-in-one suspension system. RAS kits have variable-rated coil tension springs that automatically adjust to your heavy load. Other suspension systems only solve a few problems and usually at the expense of other improvements your factory leaf springs may need. RAS, on the other hand, is a unique kit that provides everything you want in a suspension system without any trade-offs. It eliminates bottoming out like air springs, reduces sway and body roll like sway bars, keeps your ride level like helper springs, and improves traction and braking control like traction bars. This improves your vehicle's stability, handling, and control while you are towing or hauling, as well as when your vehicle is unloaded. RAS also makes your overall driving and towing experience safer and more comfortable, which greatly lessens driver fatigue.

How RAS Works

Close-Up of RAS Tension Spring

Each RAS unit has a powerful variable-rated coil tension spring that converts your passive leaf spring into a mechanically-active system. Once your vehicle is loaded, the tension springs immediately activate to absorb and support the weight. This allows your leaf springs to maintain their bowed position and keeps them from flattening out or flipping over, which greatly hinders their ability to bear a heavy load. The tension springs are variable-rated, which means that the heavier your load is, the more assistance they provide to your leaf springs. Because of this design, RAS reacts instantaneously, whereas hydraulics, air springs, and other suspension systems take time to react. And unlike your factory leaf springs, RAS stops sway and sag before they even start to happen. Additionally, when your vehicle is unloaded, the tension springs disengage, allowing your leaf springs to perform as intended without hardening your ride. RAS won't hinder your leaf springs' movement, nor will it cause any friction between any of the brackets.

Eliminates Axle Wrap and Wheel Hop

RAS Eliminates Axle Wrap

When under a heavy load, leaf springs are especially susceptible to axle wrap, which can cause wheel hop. Wheel hop is when the tires lose their grip on the road, causing a jarring, up-and-down movement. Axle wrap occurs when the circular motion of the tires cause the leaf springs to twist or rotate. If the leaf springs twist far enough, wheel hop can occur. RAS stabilizes your leaf springs by absorbing the force of the load they're trying to support. This eliminates axle wrap and wheel hop, as well as prevents your vehicle from bottoming out. Because of this, less strain is put on your vehicle. And by reducing some of this wear and tear, RAS helps extend the life of your leaf springs, shock absorbers, shackles, and even tires.

Reduces Sway and Body Roll

RAS eliminates sway and body roll

When driving along a curve while towing or hauling a heavy load, the back end of your vehicle or trailer can start to shift with that weight. If your factory leaf springs have flattened or twisted under this load, they won't be able to prevent it from shifting. Because of this, your trailer will sway away from your vehicle. This makes driving challenging and dangerous, as it increases the risk of body roll, which is when your vehicle drastically leans to one side. This can often cause you to completely lose control of your vehicle. Body roll is especially prevalent with multi-passenger vans and vehicles towing long campers, trailers, or boats. RAS provides a much safer ride by reinforcing your factory leaf springs and stabilizing your load. This helps prevent sway from occurring and reduces the chance of body roll while cornering, turning, and swerving. RAS also lessens the rocking motion that happens during windy conditions or when a semi passes by on the road.

Levels Your Ride and Improves Traction

RAS Levels Your Ride

When your vehicle is overloaded, the bulk of the weight transfers to the rear axle. Your factory leaf springs then become overwhelmed by this weight, as they are not strong enough to support it. This causes the back end of your vehicle to sag and the front end to rise, which means that the front tires have lost some of the grip they need with the road. In addition to loss of traction, it can also cause poor headlight aim, unintentional swerving, and an extremely bumpy and uncomfortable ride. RAS bolsters your factory leaf springs and enables them to provide support for your load without compromising ride quality or comfort. This keeps your ride level from front to back whether you are hauling a load in the bed or towing a boat, trailer, or camper. RAS also ensures that your tires have the traction they require while braking and accelerating, which improves the overall driving experience.

Customizable Coil Tension Springs

Adjusting Spring With Spacer

RAS is also customizable. During installation, the coil tension springs can be adjusted to 2 different tension settings or anywhere in between for improved road handling and support. To do this, rotate the springs while keeping the threaded rod still. As you turn the spring, use one of the 2 included spacers as a gauge to measure the widening gaps between the coils. In order for the RAS units to work as intended, you must tension the coils to a minimum of 25 percent with the 1mm white spacer and no more than 40 percent with the 2mm spacer. The springs can also be independently adjusted to compensate for off-center loads such as a handicap lift.

Easy, Bolt-On Installation

RAS Once Installed

This custom-fit kit comes fully assembled and is easy to install. Each RAS unit simply bolts onto your factory leaf spring with the included hardware, and drilling, welding, and cutting aren't required. First, position the eye hook bracket so that it wraps around the top of the factory leaf spring eye. Then the axle bracket secures under the leaf spring and around the factory U-bolts on the other side of the leaf spring pack. Once the maintenance-free RAS units are fully installed, you won't need to monitor them as you would with air springs.

Corrosion-Resistant Steel Construction

RAS Construction Close-Up

RAS is extremely durable and corrosion-resistant. The units are constructed of high-grade alloy steel, and they have an epoxy e-coat on the coil springs to provide extreme corrosion resistance. The brackets on the ends of each unit resist the effects of water and other elements, and they have a salt spray rating of more than 800 hours.

Video Transcript for Review of RAS Vehicle Suspension - Rear Axle Suspension Enhancement - RAS3611-B

Randy: Hey guys, Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Active Suspension System. This is a leaf spring upgrade that can very quickly and easily be added to your pickup truck. This is going to be for a '15 or newer Ford F150, but please use our fit guide. Put in your year, put in your make, your model, your exact truck type. And maybe this isn't the perfect one for your truck, but we do have one that will fit it.

Basically, this is going to take our passive leaf spring, essentially. We've just got our leaf spring. Our axle attaches in the middle. And it just waits for something to happen, and then it kind of reacts to it. This allows us to turn that basically, into a mechanically active leaf spring.

It kind of combines a lot of nice things into one area. When your truck is unloaded completely, it firms up the ride slightly. It makes it not rougher at all. But your truck just tends to respond and handle better than what it does without it. We've had these installed for about five years now on one of our programmer's vehicles, and just driving his truck around, there's a world of difference before and after. He hauls quite a bit with him too, and these also shine in that area.

Once you start adding a load to them that spring, it's going to get more and more pressure on it, so it actively responds to the load you're putting in your vehicle and helps to accommodate for it. These are fully adjustable.Once we've gotten them in there, they're going to come with a couple of spacers here. The white one's half as thick as the the black one is. And essentially, what happens is, as you stretch that spring, you use this between the springs. Once that fits in there, you know you've got it adjusted to that.

This one fits in there. You've got it adjusted to that. And that changes the percentage of preload that you're putting on that spring, essentially. So these are able to support up to 2000 pounds. Now, that doesn't add 2000 pounds of payload to your truck. It's not what these are intended to do. These just make what you already haul on your truck a lot more stable. You don't get the body roll side to side near as much. These also help out a lot with traction with . you've got a least spring that's in a U. As your actual twists, you get what's called axle wrap. That essentially, causes wheel hop. And you're going to lose traction that way. With these, you don't have to worry about it. It really helps to get all that power down on the ground, gets you accelerating. And also of course, since we're adding that capacity, we're going to prevent the bottoming out when we hit things when we're loaded. We're not going to have to worry about those inaudible 00:02:49 bumpers coming down and making contact with anything. They are adjustable independently, side to side. So if you've got an in-bed camper with a water tank on one side and you're just going to be driving it a couple thousand miles or whatever, I would recommend adjusting them to get you leveled back out, especially on work trucks like the big cargo kind of work trucks. If you've got a heavy load on one side, not so much on the other, you could put these on there. And you're really going to take a lot of the strain and a lot of the pressure off of your factory suspension. It's going to allow it to work within the limits that it should. Takes a thousand pounds off each side, so it's not doing all that work. It's really going to extend the life of your suspension system. The best thing about this is the way they install. It's super easy. It's very quick. You'll have them on . it's going to take you longer to take the tires off than it is to put these on, basically. Now, when you install these and adjust them, you want your axle to be hanging, so please keep that in mind. You don't want any load on that leaf spring at all, so take all the weight off of it when you're adjusting it. Essentially, this is just going to sit on the backside here on top of our leaf spring. And this is going to go into the bottom of it. So, our leaf spring's going to sit in here just like this. Our axle would be near abouts where my hand is there. The other end goes around the end of our leaf spring pack, so it's just going to sit over the top. It hooks in right there. And that's what causes it to be constantly active. We've constantly got this spring doing what it does to stay in this position. Once we've got it stretched out, it's holding that together. I really like it. You adjust it properly, and you can really fine tune it for your application. So when you're completely unloaded, if you don't want that slight benefit that we get out of sharper handling and cornering, then you can set these to where they have zero effect.Once you get a load on, that's when they start to have effect. If you want to improve the performance, and driving, and handling characteristics of your truck slightly . because let's face it, they're not all that great . you can have them preset that way, to where you firm it up a little bit. You get that feel. And I tell you, it can be really nice. It was very surprising to me when we put these on. Now overall, it's got a very durable construction, heavy duty steel, nice quality, high quality, yellow zinc coating on all of our bolts and everything. High-grade hardware. Any of the black areas has a really nice black epoxy steel construction. Our programmer, like I said, he's had these on his truck for several years, and they still look good. Don't get me wrong, in the Midwest here, we got plenty of salt corrosion and stuff like that. And they are showing some rust here and there. But they're still doing their job, and they're still doing it really well. Now, completely maintenance-free situation here. Once you've got them adjusted to your liking, there's nothing you have to do, nothing you have to change. Another alternative to these would be a set of airbags. You could put airbags in your vehicle. And I would think that if you we're constantly changing loads, if you had a different trailer every day of the week, I think the airbags might be the way to go, because you can adjust those a little easier, just with air pressure. These install a lot easier than airbags. And we don't have to do any maintenance to them. We don't have to check the pressure to make sure we're maintaining the minimum. And we don't have to adjust them each time. So I think if you're just looking for performance increase handling-wise or some support on a constant load that you're going to have, I think these are really a nice way to go, with all the benefits they have, the ease of installation. And once they're in there, there's nothing else you have to do.Overall, I think it's a good pick. Again though, I think I would go with an air bag set up or potentially a SumoSprings set up if I was constantly changing loads. But keep in mind, just like a SumoSpring, the more compression it has, the more work it does. That's the same thing we have here. The more compression this has, the more work it does. But for vehicle leveling, airbags are definitely a better way to go about it than this. Also, everything right here is made in the United States. They take a lot of care and pride in it. I've never come in, or ran into one of these that we had any issues with. For the two-wheel drive F150's, you are going to have this bracket. This goes right on top of your current emergency brake cable, if it's mechanical. If it's an electrical emergency brake, no harm, no foul, no issues. If it's not, you need to take the bolt out, place this on, and then put the bolt right back in. Basically, that makes sure that the bracket that mounts around that assembly, that you won't have any interference there, and won't have any problems. So they really thought of everything. It's a great product. It lasts for a very long time. Working with customers, no complaints out of them. It does the job that they ask it to do. And having first-hand experience in driving vehicles before and after with these, they definitely make a big improvement.

2018 F150 4x4 owners pay attention to this review. I received the order today and unfortunately it was the wrong kit for my vehicle. Even though etrailer confirmed that a RAS3611-B is correct for my truck, it is actually for a F150 4x2. I contacted etrailer and costumer service rep was great and verified that initially the same part number came up for my vehicle, causing the confusion. My mistake, etrailer mistake. The correct kit for a 2018 Ford F150 4x4 is RAS3611-Y. etrailer is splitting the cost of return shipping and my correct kit has been ordered. etrailer has great costumer service. 567680

After going back and forth with your install techs before purchasing they said what product to buy. I order it and doesn't fit my truck due to flipped rear axle I gave them pics so product was returned 411832

Hello David, I am sorry this product did not fit your truck. I spoke with our Roadmaster Techs and they told me this kit is not a fit for your truck since your truck suspension is not factory spec. This kit is only confirmed to fit the fit-guided vehicles with factory suspensions.

After debating whether to go with these or airbags for a year I’m very happy with my decision to purchase these for my 2015 F150. Installation was simple, the difference in ride and towing is great, and there’s no maintenance. With 1,000lbs of trailer tongue weight and improved stability, I’m a happy camper! 583586

I installed the product easily within less than an hour. On the test drive after, my truck rode smoother and more precise than prior to the install. I gained about 1-2 inches in lift on the back end, but have not towed with the setup yet. I would recommend this product. Very satisfied so far. 617063

I received my order a day earlier than estimated. That was nice. But, when I started the installation the next day, I immediately encountered a problem when installing the enclosed bracket for the emergency brake cable. The instructions state the O.E. bolt is 10mm. On my 2017 F-150 the bolt is 13mm and does not fit in the recessed hole on the supplied bracket. I'll unfortunately be making a trip to the local hardware store to find a bolt that will work in order to complete the installation. 540518

Thanks for the info, I have spoken with my contacts at Roadmaster Active Suspension and they have not heard about this issue, but their development team is looking into it to see if they need to update the bolts included.

Really great product. Install on 2017 f150. The truck bounced because it was lite from aluminum frame. It's suspension was weak. My trailer with my small tractor seem to over load rear suspension. Load was for below truck tow rating. Caused problems loading and unloading tractor. Roadmaster really changed the suspension for the better. Truck is very stable and much smoother with and without trailer. A GREAT PRODUCT!!! 793989

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

I’m impressed by the quality and engineering of this product. The person who designed it should win an award! I installed this on my 2013 F150 in preparation for hauling around my 1998 24’ coachman I’ve been working on fixing up all winter. I didn’t want a solution that would stiffen up the trucks ride because it’s very comfortable. I can’t feel any change in ride. Installation was very easy, took about an hour for everything and just a few tools. I haven’t towed with it yet but I did hook my trailer up and it didn’t squat like it did before. So far, very impressed. I’m glad I didn’t mess with airbags and all. 629033

I own a 2017 F150 and placed the RAS3611-y kit last year. So far the ride improvement and the handling when pulling my equipment trailer with 7000# load is great. Air load adjusters would have been a mistake. Thanks George J. for a great product. No need for load levelers with this kit. 675401

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

I have a 2016 F-150 4x4 with a 2 inch leveling kit and 305 tires. I am towing a 26RR Grey Wolf camper. I beleave it is 4992 lbs dry wait and 7775 lbs loaded. It is meant to be pulled with 1/2 ton trucks. Want to give all specs to be fair to the product. The product was easy to install. I adjusted spring to the black disk. When I hooked up the camper I notice my truck definitely squated less. The towing ride was less bumpy. That is it. It definitely did not improve fuel mileage. I am still at 8.5 miles to the gallon. That is on flat ground, I live in Florida. Still could not go over 65mph without camper feeling loose on the road. 3 stars for now until I tow other trailers. It was an improvement but not as much as I was expecting. Still going to go truck shopping for a bigger truck to solve my towing needs. Side note: truck looks great and rides way better without a trailer in tow. 2/22 inf 744719

Comments
The Roadmaster Active Suspension is designed to improve your trucks stability, handling, and control by keeping the truck level even when youre towing. When you say that your camper feels loose on the road, it sounds like your trailer starts to sway at speeds above 65 mph. The best solution for keeping your trailer tracking straight while rolling down the road is to use a weight distribution system with sway control. A weight distribution system will not necessarily improve your fuel mileage, but it will improve your experience towing your 30ft trailer. I have linked a help article on Weight Distribution systems for more information.

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

I bought this based on I think the same product I bought several years ago for a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. At that time, I bought a kit for for a Ram 2500 and was very impressed. I put a truck camper on the Dodge and I don’t think it settled an inch and when I drove it I hardly knew the camper was back there at all. No sway and no handling problems at all. This time I bought the kit for a Nissan Titan, pulling a 25’ travel trailer (about 7000#). The truck rear still settles and is not in a level attitude in transit without the weight distribution hitch. The suspension kit makes it better but not as much as I expected. 565780

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

2016 Ford F-150 XLT 4x2 - We would get a gallop when we would be towing our travel trailer and after reading several reviews for the Roadmaster Active Suspension System we decided to purchase the system. Just like most of the reviews it took more time to jack up the truck and remove the wheels then it was to install the system. It did raise the bed of the truck about an inch. Anyone who owns a late model F-150 will tell you that it rides just like a sedan. It was no different after the installation. I did take a short drive with the trailer attached and it was a smooth ride (no gallop). At this point I would consider this a success. The one thing that I would like to point out is if you have the same F-150 model that I have I would purchase RAS3611-B not RAS3611-Y. The “B” model has a block that covers the emergency brake bracket on the passenger side install. 754937

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

I did a lot of research to determine if I should use airbags or the RAS. For my application the RAS was the better choice. No matter who I asked, no one had a negative comment about this product (RAS). I tow a Jayco Travel Trailer (TT - 9000lbs) and while I have towed boats for years I was new to the type of tongue and hauling weight that the TT exerts on my vehicle. Installation was a breeze. I spent more time preparing my tools and finding my 22mm wrench than I did installing the RAS. There are many Youtube videos on how to install the RAS and I do recommend you watch them. My ride (F150 Echoboost) was smoother while pulling the trailer; however, I didn't feel any change to my daily driving (positive or negative). If you're using a WDH, I recommend these over the airbags. The airbags can be counter intuitive since the WDH should fix most of the weight distribution and level. The RAS works well with all WDH's and once installed you don't have to make any changes to it, unlike the airbags. Get the RAS - you'll be happy you did. 399233

Delivery was on time and the product was good and ready to go! Jacked up the truck put it on stands and 1hr 30mins later I was driving off for a test run. Works just like it says it would. No body roll, takes off so much smoother, and I did about 40 over those big rolling neighborhood speed bumps and it was super smooth. Before RAS it would have a real bouncy feel over the speed bump now it attack the bump if you know what I mean. I tow a 25' trailer so I can't wait to see how much bounce is taken out when I'm driving over the dippy roads through the mountain pass here in WA. Thanks E-trailer! 313970

My initial review was was 5 star rating and after one year of use it still remains a 5 ??. I have a chance now to tow my 25’ travel trailer for a season and works great. It helps with proposing and reduced the little sag when I have her loaded up for a long trip. Highly recommend RAS with a WDH combination for smooth comfortable towing experience.

Repeat customer. Just installed my second set of Roadmaster Active Suspension springs. Have not towed with them yet; however the ride on my 2014 F150 6.5' bed pickup is noticably smoother. I expect the result when I do tow my travel trailer to be the same as with my previous truck - night and day difference (no more "white knuckle towing)! 319927

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

Great product! It does what it advertises and is a breeze to install on my F-150 but a little harder on the 350 since you have to remove the overload spring. Works great helps keep truck perfectly level when towing my 10k lb trailer. Highly recommend. 654976

Review from a similar RAS in Vehicle Suspension

I really like the suspension add on. It keeps my truck level when towing our 9000 lb camper bumper pull. I get great stability on the road and it helps with handling the tongue weight on my 2013 Toyota Tundra 1/2 ton. It doesn't change the stiffen the suspension of my truck until I add weight. So, you don't notice it with normal driving. Installation went smoothly. The components were high quality and heavy duty. I recommend it. 577747

  • Best Option for Suspension Enhancement on Lifted 2016 Ford F-150
While we have great suspension enhancement options for your 2016 Ford F-150, the Timbren systems are not a good fit for lifted vehicles, in particular due to the large 8" of space you have just with an unloaded trailer hooked up (without any weight on the truck there is only supposed to be 1/2" of space from the rubber spring to where it makes contact). Timbrens are a decent set up overall, but there are better kits that provide more benefit at all times. The best option for your lifted...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2016 Ford F-150 with 6 inch Lift
As long as the leaf springs of your 2016 Ford F-150 are the same the Roadmaster Active Suspension # RAS3611-B will still fit. If the spring changed it's hard to say for certain what RAS kit would fit it since it would not have ever been tested. The other options will be harder to fit since you have such a lift. But if you have a different leaf spring I'd recommend a Timbren part # TFRTT1504E with lift spacers # A25723-90AH00. You'd need a spacer for each inch of lift so you'd need a...

  • Recommended System for Better Sway Control of 30 Foot Travel Trailer
The Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit # RAS3611-B will help with the vehicle side of things by assisting with the rear suspension which will have some effect on the ride of the trailer. The much bigger issue with sway is that your trailer is very long. Even with a weight distribution system and a friction sway bar, you will have sway issues because for trailers over 26 feet, they recommend 2 friction sway bars. I've attached an article to help. I highly recommend that you look...

  • Suspension Enhancement on a Lowered 2 Wheel Drive 2016 Ford F-150
We do have suspension enhancement that may work on your lowered 2016 Ford F-150 but it isn't an air bag kit. The Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit # RAS3611-B may work for you. You'll need to measure and make sure you have at least 4 inches of clearance between the axle and the rear eye of the spring. And also the hook bracket of the RAS needs to be able to fit over the rear eye without any interference. If you need to, send me some pictures of the springs on your truck and I'll...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2019 Ford F-150 for Everyday Driving and Towing
There is a perfect option for a suspension enhancement system that will work to benefit your 2019 Ford F-150 for everyday driving as well as towing; I strongly recommend the Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit, and correct one will depend on if your F-150 has Two-Wheel Drive or Four-Wheel Drive - Two-Wheel Drive: Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-B - Four-Wheel Drive: Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring...

  • 2020 Ford F-150 Suspension Upgrade to Help Reduce Sway
Whenever you tow a trailer, or put a lot of weight on the rear of your F-150 the leaf springs start to flatten out, and typically the ride geta very stife. Not to mention the sag in the rear end. The back goes down, and the front raises up. Which leads to less traction on the front tires, reduced braking and porpoising. To help the sway and bounce when towing your trailer I recommend the Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit. For 2WD # RAS3611-B, and for 4WD...

  • Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit For 2020 Ford F-150 2WD
I recommend the Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit part # RAS3611-B for your 2020 Ford F-150 (not a raptor) 2WD. The Roadmaster Active Suspension kit is a great option to strengthen the leaf springs on the truck when under a heavy load. The coil springs secure under the leaf spring and around the factory U-bolts and can be adjusted during setup depending on how heavy of a load you plan on hauling. I have attached a video for you to take a look at.

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2017 Ford F-150 Towing Trailer
Sounds like you may be over the towing capacity of your 2017 Ford F-150 if air bags and a weight distribution system aren't cutting it for you. Before you proceed you should verify that you are within the capacities of the truck. For what you're looking for I would go with the Roadmaster Active Suspension kit # RAS3611-B. We had a guy come back with a truck just like yours who installed this kit and reported that it worked well on his truck with a weight distribution system. I attached...

Yes, the Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit # RAS3611-B for your 2015 Ford F-150 would be exactly what you would need to help eliminate the sag you are experiencing with your heavier trailer and it will also greatly reduce side to side sway. This kit also install very easily.

  • What Would Cause Bouncy Ride Quality When Towing Trailer with Weight Distribution System
If you are experiencing a bouncy ride condition with your weight distribution system that indicates that you have a WD system that is rated too high for the tongue weight of your setup. If you use a system rated to high you end up with a harsh or bumpy ride quality and if you go with a system rated too low you end up with an ineffective system. There isn't a product out there that will fix this like the Roadmaster kit you mentioned. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement Options for a 2017 Ford F-150 With Lowering Kit Installed
The best option for you to add some load assistance to your 2017 Ford F-150 would be to use a Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit. You will want to use part # RAS3611-Y if your F-150 is 4-wheel drive, and part # RAS3611-B for a 2-wheel drive model. • Adding Suspension Helper Springs to Reduce Sway on a 2017 Ford F-150 Short Bed
What kind of trailer are you towing? The best thing to use to prevent sway is a weight distribution system with built in sway control. If you are interested in that then let me know the gross trailer weight if it is a travel trailer (bumper pull). If it is a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer then there is no sway control for those. For your truck though adding some suspension enhancement will help some. Roadmaster active suspension # RAS3611-Y is a good option because it does offer some...

  • Recommended Rear Suspension Enhancement for Maintaining Level Ride on 2018 Ford F-150
Jounce-style springs like the SumoSprings # SSR-117-47 you referenced for the rear axle of your 2018 Ford F-150 do a great job of allowing your truck to better support heavier loads, but they aren't going to eliminate sag. This is because there's still going to be a gap between the spring and axle, meaning the rear of the truck will need to drop a bit before they will even engage. Since you aren't a fan of the idea of air bags, your best solution for maintaining a level ride when under...

I recommend taking a look at the Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y if you have a 4WD or # RAS3611-B if you have the 2WD model. • Is Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit Needed In Addition to Weight Distribution
The answer to your question will depend on how you use your truck. Vehicle-based systems like the Roadmaster Active Suspension system or air bags will work just fine with a weight distribution system, but they work best to suspend weight being hauled in the bed of a truck or in a vehicle's cargo area, while a weight distribution system does a better job of transferring a trailer's tongue weight from the rear tow vehicle axle to the front. If in addition to towing you also frequently carry...

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR1504E is a fit for a factory height 2017 or 2018 Ford F-150. To drop the truck height will require custom fabrication as you stated. There isn't a spacer, just the brackets and the jounce spring, so this may not be the best option for you. My recommendation is to use a system that doesn't require that extra fabrication. You can use the Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit # RAS3611-B which will give you a mechanically active system to...
