Most OEM coil suspensions have a difficult time supporting heavy front loads like winches, brush guards and snowplows. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while clearing snow. Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your front coil springs to help defeat driver fatigue and to better support heavy front loads.

Coil SumoSpring installed between rungs of coil spring

Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to a rung of each coil in your front coil springs. Inside each round spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support front loads, and it keeps the front end more level. Included zip-ties also aid in securing the helper springs to your coil springs. Unbumpify your ride with these SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

Video Transcript for Review of SuperSprings Vehicle Suspension - Front Axle Suspension Enhancement - CSS-1094F

Today we're taking a look at the SumoSprings custom helper springs for coil spring suspensions. These helper spring inserts increase ride comfort and enhance your coil suspension's ability to support loads. They have an inner core of micro cellular polyurethane foam to provide cushioning and support. They adjust progressively to the weight of your load. So that means the more you load onto your vehicle, the stiffer these become. It really helps reduce body roll and it helps level your vehicle. They withstand extreme temperatures.

They're a really nice durable design. So the durable springs resists damage that's typically caused by abrasions, oils, road salts, and UV rays. They install easily on the front suspension coils. They got these nice deep grooves right here, so they are going to be held in place very securely. But if you want to add in the cable ties, or the zip ties that come with the kit, these are included to assist or aid in holding the helper springs in place in the coil.So they insert between the individual coils of each coil spring, custom fit for your application.

Again comes with additional zip ties to aid in holding the helper springs in place. Those can be inserted through these little holes on the coil, or on the springs, and then looped around the coil and then secure tight. These can be installed with or without removing the strut from the vehicle, and they can be installed with or without removing the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Just always keep in mind that if you are able to remove the tire and wheel assembly, you're definitely going to have a lot more room to work around. My favorite feature about this kit is that they don't require any maintenance. It's an install and forget about them type situation, so that's always nice.

Included with this part number, you get two helper springs, you get the zip ties and you get detailed installation instructions to walk you through the whole process step by step. Product's made in the USA. This kit's designed for the front coil spring suspension system. It's designed to work with a suspension system that's in good working order. And just keep in mind that the coil Sumo Springs do not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacities, so be careful not to exceed the manufacturer's weight limit for your vehicle. That's going to do it for today's look at the SumoSprings custom helper springs for coil spring suspensions..

Installed on 2006 F 150 to prevent front sag when using front hitch mounted cooler rack for surf fishing. Easy install. Start at bottom of spring where there is more room to work. Loosely install tie wraps then rotate sumo to top of spring between 2 and 3 coil, then tighten tie wraps. Haven't had chance to evaluate performance with cooler rack. 628991

I installed these on my 2010 Toyota Highlander FWD before starting a year long trip towing a 18ft camper trailer around the western USA. The Highlander did not have any options to “beef up” the rear suspension, so I installed these on the rear springs. They improved the ride and reduced the rear end “squatting”. We are 7 months and 13,000 into the trip and they are still doing great. 618035

I installed these on a 2014 equinox with a 4-banger. Took me 10 min to install, suv didnt sag as much when my small boat was attached. Ride quality was same as before. I sold the car awhile back and the springs went with. I would recommend to a friend though. My boat weighed 1000lbs total including trailer, dont think your going to be able to pull much more then that. 239659

The product was easy to install and really helped with the extra load of pulling a trailer and having a packed car. Towed a 6'x 9' trailer from CA to NC with about 2500 lbs of extra weight. When not towing or having an extra load car still rides good. Worth the money. 348033

We overloaded our 2009 Jetta TDI on our trip to FL. Ordered these spacers delivered to us and easily installed in the parking lot while we were there. The drive home was much smoother and the rear end rode about an inch higher. 110268

Works great for what I needed. I had issues with the rear of the 2016 Highlander bottoming out when loaded (5 people, luggage and a hitch bike rack). After installing this, the ride has improved. I had 5 people, full interior cargo area, 21 cubic foot cargo box on top and a hitch cargo carrier. While I did get some sag in the rear, I did not have the harsh bottom outs that I was getting with a much less loaded vehicle before. 425538

2014 Toyota Highlander These Highlander things have the wiggles & leans badly, certain roads are worse than others, but after I installed these (About 20 Min. Total and Very Simple.) There is a definite improvement ! Although these seem way over priced, I am hoping they will last a heck of a long time, but only time will tell?? So If you can afford them it will make a positive improvement and dampen those dreaded wiggles & leans. I have yet to pull my trailer or add the wheel chair lift, but I am happy just with the way they are without it. 241910

Review from a similar SuperSprings SumoSprings Coil in Vehicle Suspension

I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander with a hitch mounted cargo box and am moving and vacationing at the same time. Therefore have a lot of weight in the vehicle, though not even close to the max vehicle weight or axel weight. However the vehicle significantly sags in the rear. I'm glad I found theses helper springs as they did make a significant difference in reducing the sag (probably by an inch) and therefore handling of the vehicle (steering, body roll, etc.). I was actually very surprised at the difference it made in the handling. To note, I drove with the load without the helper springs from VA To SCand then with the helper springs from SC to OH before reviewing. They were also very easy to install. I only jacked up the rear end and slipped them on (without soapy water) in less than 15 mins with zip ties. The results from the product were well worth the purchase and will be recommending to friends and family. In regards to Etrailer, they ended up being out of stock after I purchased the item and they quickly called to let me know and when they'd become available (only a couple days for them to get the product, no big deal). Always great customer service. 282917

Super easy installation onto the rear coils of my 2008 Ford Escape. Definitely use a soap solution to help slide the device onto the coils. No noticeable different to the ride when unloaded, but prevents sag when carrying my dirt bike (250 lbs) on a hitch-mounted carrier. 517416

Installed these on a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox that I use to haul fishing boat. This car seems to haul the boat OK before I purchased these. The reason I purchased them was I'm close to the weight limit on the hitch and hope they help with any sway etc. Installation went well, I did use quite a bit of hand soap to get them in. 268931

The Sumo coil springs helpers did help with the rear spring sag and subsequent unweighting of the front end when my 2015 Toyota Highlander is hooked to our 20 ft 3,000 lb Winnebago Micro Minnie trailer. The steering felt better after installing the Sumos, but I had hoped for a bit more support from them, however the situation is definitely better with them than without them. 312051

2015 Highlander XLE AWD. It works for what I intended. The hitch raised 1 1/2" under load. The load was around 1000lbs in the vehicle and a 250lb cargo basket on the hitch. If you count the hitch and misc items in the vehicle, the load would was 1350lbs out of the 1445lb payload. Without the sumosprings, it easily bottomed out. It does not level like an air bag system, however it improves the ride dramatically under load and does not bottom out. Most of the negative reviews I read were people expecting their highlander to tow a travel trailer. Not a vehicle I would choose for the job. Even light travel trailers have high tongue weights. Add people, a weight distributing hitch, equiptment and your payload is gone. The ride does not change unloaded. Until a better product is available, I'll be sticking with this one. Installation was very simple. 470414

Review from a similar SuperSprings SumoSprings Coil in Vehicle Suspension

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it. First off, the Toyota Highlander is built on a car suspension, not a truck suspension, so a lot of the towing accessories you can get for trucks do not apply. I have a boat and trailer that weight approximately 2200 lbs, and the tongue weight although not too big causes the rear end of my highlander to sink a bit more than I'd like, and you could feel the car suspension bounce a little bit too much when the trailer bounced. I purchased this product and had my mechanic install it. It did just what I expected, and the ride is much better now. Plus when the trailer is not attached, the little bit of rise makes the vehicle look meaner to the point where I might just paint sharks teeth on the front bumpers (okay maybe not, but I thought about it). 248527

Not as easy to install as noted in the documentation; Otherwise, they are performing as advertised. I have not lost the ride quality yet I noticed a difference pulling our fully loaded trailer with the Jeep or the bikes. Much better handling. I would have preferred air bags, but these are doing the job. 555912

I received the Sumo Springs Coil Helper yesterday and was able to install it in less than an hour on my 2007 Odyssey. May be even quicker if I had a better jack(i had to lift one side at a time). My van now has raised significantly. With a three Mountain bike rack, camping gear loaded with the roof box, the van's rear end was too sagged. I gained close to two inches after installation. I do notice a difference in the cushioning, but that is very marginal. Overall, I am very happy about this product and would recommend if your car's rear end needs a lift/ support. Installation was very simple with the hand soap applied. I will do a follow-up review after few weeks when I put a few hundred miles for my summer trips. 538473

I installed on a 2014 Ford Expedition EL. I should have done this last year, it made it handle like it was new again both loaded down and when it was just me driving. It also retained the stock ride feeling with no harsh or roughness to speak of. For the folks that have a strut style rear suspension and put any kind if weight in their suv's and/or pull a tralier, this is a must. Also, no mentionable increase in ride height. 403904

I used the Sumo Springs on a 2014 VW Passat TDI SEL in the rear. I like the product, my car always had that overloaded look I tow a small trailer and the car's suspension was to soft. The Sumo spring Support works great on my car the car came up about half inch and under load it gives the needed support I was locking for. I also like that I have not to mess around with any air adjustment and it tis maintenance free. The install was easy and I was done in about 45 minutes. The toughest part was to cut it for the instructed length for my car. 138071

On my Element, one side was almost impossible to get on. Not a fault of the product, most likely a fault of the strut with 170K mile on it. They do fit, but you might have to battle a bit on older Elements. Once installed the sumo spring really made a difference. No more saggy butt syndrome. I will have to report back later with updates on how it handles with loads and back roads. 417791

2011 Highlander with factory tow package and hitch towing a Casita 17' Liberty Deluxe. Just completed a Three week 5700mi. trip from Florida to Salt Lake City, Utah returning via Big Bend, TX. Shipping was quick and items well packed. Installation was very easy an took less than an hour start to finish. Wheel removal, not required. Just jacking up enough to unload the suspension. I did use a few more zip ties than were supplied for good measure. Ride quality was unchanged with no trailer. Rear sag was reduced slightly with trailer hitched but not to the extent I would expect. I still get cars flashing their high beams, with me on low beams. Porpoising was reduced and is probably the single biggest advantage to having these installed. These ere OK but I hope something more effective will soon enter the market. 107486

I have a 2008 CR-V LX I use to pull at Little Guy 5 wide teardrop trailer and there are no heavy duty strut options available. So after much research I settled on these and decided to buy them from etrailer.com. The installation was just as easy as everyone has stated on other reviews. All I had to do was jack up the rear end and pull the tires and the slide on without any lubrication at all..just cleaned off the springs and they slid right on. The CSS-1125R will need to be trimmed but that was easy too for two reasons. 1st they are very easy to cut with a razor knife and 2nd the overlap position was easy to find and reproduce because it fell right on one of the holes the the zip ties go through. Probably the hardest part was making sure they were in the same place on both sides of the vehicle but that is not a problem at all if you have access to both sides at the same time.I haven't hooked up the trailer but I could tell immediately that the suspension performance was improved on cornering and the way it handles railroad tracks and potholes. My mechanic went so far as to say he tell the difference just by driving out of his driveway. Hopefully I can come back and give an update after my 2500 mile trip pulling the LG 5W. 135785

Easy install in 15 minutes. It did help with sag and I noticed an immediate difference on the positive side. I installed these on a Honda Pilot used for towing a small Teardrop trailer. I am using these in conjunction with Timbren bump stops and am pleased with the results. I was going to install airbags but did not want the hassle of checking air pressure and these being maintenance free was a good option. 115067

If you want to help with sag I suggest putting in air bags. The super springs do help but air bags will let you adjust height about 1 to 2 inches.

If you want to level out your Pilot try Airbags from Firestone or Ready Lift. You can adjuct hieght about 1 or 2 inches. I installed the Ready Lift 2 inch lift kit but still might do the airbags down the line but I am happy with the Super Springs and lift kit!

The instructions, well!! lack a bit of detail. My first instinct was to return them . I called the manufactures tech line ,and got the 10-36 asap. ........ after that the install was a breeze !! I am in the opinion these helper springs will stiffen the rear coil enough to balance a heavier tongue or small trailer weight. 65535

Do these work well towing a 2200 lb work trailer hauling a moderate load with a 03 tahoe

-- comment by: Tracy - 06/08/2014

Depending on what a moderate load is, yes they can offset the trailer tongue weight nicely. Let us know what weight you're working with, it will help give us a better picture of your needs. Also, how far down does the Tahoe squat when you hook up the loaded trailer?

Excellent product for what I needed. This was installed on a 2011 VW Golf TDI. I had installed air bags on the car 2 years ago and was not pleased with the ride and maintenance (air adjustments) needed to keep the system up. I was tired of dragging the trailer hitch and mud flaps even with the air bags. The golf rear springs are to soft and allow the rear of the car to sit to low even unloaded. I removed the air bags and easily installed the sumo helper springs CSS-1145R. I installed one side at a time, so I needed to disconnect the sway bar and shock to allow the rear wheel to drop enough to install the product easily. The result is approximately 1 inch increase in rear ride height and a slightly stiffer ride. 458279

This product was shipped fast and arrived in a timely manner. The part I ordered was CSS-1145R, which I was under the impression that this was for the rear suspension. When I took the box out of the package, the front of the box says it was for the front suspension of a truck, and the part number on the box was CSS-1145. So I call etrailer and told them this and the girl on the phone stated that CSS-1145 was for the front or the rear suspension. Not sure why they would have two different part numbers if the part fits the front or the rear, it's kind of misleading and confusing. 179713

Review from a similar SuperSprings SumoSprings Coil in Vehicle Suspension

Sumo springs installed without removing tires, just used a 2 ton floor jack to lift the rear tire off the ground to put the lift spring in a negative relaxed position. Then followed instructions and cleaned springs with dish soap and water, also used solution on sumo lift coil. Coil snaked between lift springs without any problems. Placed Ty’s per instructions using a needle nose pliers to pull tyes securely in place and cut off any excess tye. Sumo are working great .!! If you haul a trailer get these springs lifts the really do work according to advertisers info. 558879

  • Recommended Front-Mount Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2014 Toyota Tacoma
  • Both the Curt Front Hitch # 31313 and the Draw-Tite Front Hitch # 65070 are confirmed to fit your 2014 Tacoma 4x4 but I definitely recommend the Draw-Tite for its higher 500-lb vertical load weight rating and because it allows re-installation of the skid shield which is not possible with the Curt. If you're intending to use a hitch-mount snow plow like the Detail K2 Avalanche # K2AVAL8219 or a hitch cargo carrier like # 63153 or any other potentially heavy item you might want to consider...

  • Will Coil SumoSprings, # CSS-1094F, Raise the Ride Height on a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab
  • The Coil SumoSprings, # CSS-1094F, are designed to fit in the space between coil turns on the springs and would not change the ride height of your 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. We do offer SuperCoils, # SSC-50, that will increase the height by 3/4 inches. If you are looking for more lift than that you will want to look at lift kits. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

  • Recommended Snow Chains for 2016 Ford F-150 with 265/70R17 Size Tires
  • You did the right thing by checking your Ford F-150 owner's manual for guidance about use of tire chains. When it comes to tire chains the auto maker gets the final word. We do offer the special low-profile Class S chains approved by Ford and for your 265/70R17 rear tires. All Class S chains for your tire size are shown on the linked page. Since you are looking for tire chains to make your snow plowing easier and safer (and not just to have a set in the truck for meeting a legal requirement)...

  • Front Helper Springs for a 2010 Ford F-150 4x4 with a Snow Plow
  • For helper springs for your 2010 Ford F-150 4x4 I recommend the Timbren springs # TFF150F. They are going to offer the best support and ride quality out of the options available for your truck. And they would work great for a snow plow on the front of your truck. The SumoSprings, # CSS-1094F, would be adequate but not quite up to the standard and ability of the Timbren springs. I have included a link to the right to our informational article on Timbren springs for you.

  • Are Front Coil Spring Helpers Recommended for Towing on 2010 Ford Expedition?
  • The Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1094F that fit on the front axle of your 2010 Ford Expedition 4WD will not be of great benefit for you when towing. They are generally used when you have a front hitch and snow plow or something like a bull bar or grill guard.

  • Front Hitch and Front Axle Suspension Support for 2006 Ford Explorer
  • You are absolutely right! And I confirmed with my contact at Curt. Curt's front-mount 2-inch hitch # 31545 is a confirmed fit for 2007 through 2010 Ford Explorers. It is not a fit for the 2006 model year. For your 2006 Explorer (so long as it is not the Sport version) their front hitch model # 31540 is the correct fit. Thank you for catching this; we will update our Fit Guide accordingly. If you intend to use a heavy front-hitch-mount accessory like a snow plow such as # K2AVAL8219...

  • Front-Mount Hitch and Front Suspension Coil Helper Spring for 2016 Ford F-150 4x4
  • The Curt front-mount hitch # C31068 is not a fit for your 2016 Ford F-150; it fits only older F-150s up to model year 2014. For your truck we do have a confirmed fit for a front hitch, Draw-Tite # 65067. This offers 500-lbs vertical load and 9000-lbs line pull ratings and installs without drilling. It will require a bit of fascia trimming. We have not yet had a local customer bring in their truck for installation so we have no video at this point but you can refer to the linked written...

  • SumoSprings Recommendation for a 2007 Nissan Xterra
  • There is a SumoSpring available for your 2007 Nissan Xterra, but the part # CSS-1168 that you referenced is not a fit for your vehicle. You would want the SuperSprings # CSS-1094F as this is confirmed to fit your 2007 Xterra.

  • Does SumoSprings Custom Front Axle Helper Springs Part # CSS-1094F Fit on Stock Coil Springs
  • Yes, the SumoSprings Custom Front Axle Helper Springs, part # CSS-1094F, fit the stock front coil springs on your 2010 F-150. This product fits both 2- and 4-wheel drive models including the SVT Raptor versions. The kit consists of two polyurethane springs and a supply of cable ties to secure the springs once installed. The Sumo helper springs install within the turns of the stock front coil springs. Installation requires jacking up the front of the vehicle (with parking brake engaged...

  • Comparing Timbren and SumoSprings Front Suspension Enhancement for a 2005 Ford F-150
  • For your application, on your 2005 Ford F-150, I think that the SumoSprings, # CSS-1094F, would be a good choice. The capacity should be more than enough for moving the trailer from time to time and it should provide a more comfortable ride. This system is not designed to affect the unloaded height of the vehicle but rather are designed to be most functional when under a load. The same can be said of the Timbren system. The Timbren system, # TFF150F, would be good for frequent and...

  • SumoSprings Recommendation for a 2006 Ford Explorer Towing a Camper with Weight Distribution
  • The Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1125R would be an excellent choice for your 2006 Ford Explorer. This product should give your suspension additional support to should reduce the excessive sag you are experiencing. I checked with SuperSprings and the do not recommend you install two of these per spring. One should be sufficient. Some things you should also check are you need to be sure that your suspension components are in good working order and that your weight distribution...

  • Recommended Ball Mount Or Suspension Enhancement For Front Hitch Of 2015 Ford F-150 To Push Trailer
  • If your trailer has weight distribution, I recommend flipping the shank to the rise position. Your hitch won't be rated for use with a WD system, but it should work for the 100 feet you mentioned. Front hitches don't allow much clearance, so with an angle you may need to use a ball mount like # D900 that has a rise that will be able to handle that weight. Unfortunately an adapter won't be able to handle the weight of your trailer. Another option is if the weight causes the front end...

  • Placement of CSS-1125R Coil SumoSprings Helper Springs on a 2004 Ford Explorer
  • Yes, the # CSS-1125R Coil SumoSprings helper springs kit is designed to fit in the gaps on the strut coils on your 2004 Ford Explorer, but this kit is a set of 2 for the rear axle only. For the front axle, you would need kit # CSS-1094F. Take a look at the installation instruction links I am including for a clearer look at the way they will install.

  • Will the SuperSprings Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1094F Fit a 2014 Ford Expedition
  • The SuperSprings Coil SumoSprings, # CSS-1094F, will fit your 2014 Ford Expedition as long as it is a 4WD model, however, they were not designed to raise the normal ride height of your SUV. These springs will reduce the sag of your front suspension when it is under a load such as installing a snowplow or a heavy grille guard. We do not have any items that will raise the normal ride height of your Expedition.

  • Troubleshooting Super Spring Adding Too Much Height to Rear of 2012 Toyota Tacoma 4x4
  • A picture did come through so I attached it. For your 2012 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 the proper fit is the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA19. If you used the # SSA7 springs you asked from that would most likely be the issue as that is a fit for 1987-2004 Dodge Dakota trucks or 1993-1998 Toyota T100 pickups. Having the improper fit is most likely the issue and they cannot be re-arched to fit. Your other option is to use a jounce style spring instead. For...

  • Front Suspension Enhancements for a Lifted 2015 Ford F-250
  • I do have an option for you but the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSF-111-40 will not work as is if the contact point has changed as a result from the lift kit on your 2015 Ford F-250. The best options for you so long as you have the factory coil springs are with the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F4160 for 4x4 and part # F4101 for 4x2 or the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs part # CSS-1094F for 4x2. • SumoSprings Front Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-150
  • There are different dimension SumoSpring kits for the front suspension on trucks but for your 2016 Ford F-150 the correct kit is the part # CSS-1094F that you mentioned. We cannot recommend you use a different spring on your truck. This will do a great job supporting your front suspension while you are using a snow plow which will be heavier.

  • Front Axle Suspension Kit to Reduce Impact on Factory Jounce Spring on 2014 Ford F-250
  • The Super Springs SumoSprings front axle helper springs # CSS-1094F will help stiffen your front suspension so that speed bumps do not cause so much impact on the factory jounce springs. These install easily without tools and require no maintenance. These springs will not give you a softer ride but they will prevent the front axle bottoming out against the bump stops. Please note that products like these helper springs do not increase your truck's weight carrying capacity.
