Rear Suspension Support

SumoSprings helper springs are great for work vans. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the van's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

SumoSprings diagram of installation above existing vehicle spring

Each spring in this kit is bolted to two mounting brackets. One bracket is attached to the frame of your vehicle, and the other bracket is attached to the axle, typically above your existing factory leaf spring. Because each helper spring is in full contact at the top and bottom of the suspension's travel, the expanding and contracting action of the SumoSprings enhances your ride under all conditions, not just when it's loaded. And the closed-cell urethane springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

SumoSprings compressing under load

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

SumoSprings expanding to allow play in the suspension

These springs extend in height by as much as 50 percent to allow more movement in your suspension when you're traveling unloaded, making your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

  • In Which Order Should SumoSprings Be Installed On A 2006 Fleetwood Jamboree Motorhome
It doesn't matter which order you install the SumoSprings on your 2006 Fleetwood Jamboree GT 31W motorhome. Typically the rear needs the most help when it comes to enhancement so that's where most people start, but if you're doing both it doesn't really matter. For your Ford E-450 Chassis you would want the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs # SSR-106-54-1 for the rear and the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-106-47 for the front. I've attached some videos below to help...

  • SumoSprings Recommendation For A 2021 Ford E-Series Cutaway
When choosing the proper SumoSpring for your 2021 Ford E-Series Cutaway Forest River Sunseeker, I recommend The SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-106-40-1. They will upgrade your vehicle's rear suspension for improved driver control and comfort by helping to absorb bumps and shocks while driving, it also minimizes sway. These springs have a 3,000 pound weight capacity. These items have a progressive load control which the springs compress according to the weight...

  • SumoSprings and Rear Sway Bar Recommendation for 2017 Ford E-450 Cutaway
For a SumoSpring set that is confirmed as a fit for your 2017 Ford E-450 Cutaway we have the part # SSR-106-40-1 that is a confirmed fit and would work well. For the front axle you then would want the part # SSF-106-47. The best way to fight sway though is with a rear sway bar like the part # RM-1139-147 which is a confirmed fit. I attached an install video for this as well.

  • Difference Between SuperSprings and SumoSprings for 2015 Thor Majestic 28a Class C RV
This is a great question and if you speak with Supersprings they'll tell you that actually running both is their preferred option to get the best of both worlds. The SuperSprings part # SSA47 that fit your RV will give you the additional load leveling ability and the SumoSprings like part # SSR-106-40-1 offer additional capacity, ride comfort, and stability control. Since some of that is a little redundant they also mention that the difference is in the "material". Supersprings are steel...

  • Difference Between The SumoSprings Helper Springs # SSR-106-54-1 And # SSF-106-47
The SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-106-54-1 you referenced are for extra heavy duty and rated for 7,000-lb capacity and are designed for your rear axle while the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-106-47 are for light duty and are for the front axle of your motorhome. Both are a fit for your Class C motorhome and will help minimize sway and body roll. I do not recommend just looking at the colors of the springs as Super Springs uses their...

  • What Front and Rear SumoSprings do You Recommend for My 2022 Ford E-350 Chassis?
For just a little boost on your front and rear suspension on your 2022 Thor Class c on a E-350 Cutaway chassis, I recommend the following setup: - SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-106-40 - SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-106-40-1 With these two sets of SumoSprings, you will have a load-leveling of 500 pounds in the front and 3,000 pounds in the back. The great thing about both of these SumoSpring models is that they do not require any...

  • Comparing SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for Ford E-450 Motorhome
The difference between the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs is that part # SSR-106-40-1 is rated for 2,600 lbs and part # SSR-106-47-1 is rated for 4,600 lbs. For a Ford E-450 Motorhome with 12,000 Lb GVWR I recommend the latter, part # SSR-106-47-1 which is rated for 4,600 lbs

For your 2022 Coachman Leprechun 260DS the blue SumoSprings Maxim part # SSR-106-40-1 would be your best option. This will give you the best support and ride quality as it is rated for 3,000 lbs. The ride quality, handling, stability and rumble will be noticeably improved.

  • SumoSprings for 2013 Pleasure Way Pursuit
Hi Bob; the # SSR-130-47 you were looking at will fit your 2013 Pleasure Way Pursuit built on the E-350 chassis. However, since this is a motorhome I would get a rear set with a higher rating. The SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs # SSR-106-47-1 would be a better choice. These have a capacity of 5,000 lbs which will offer a lot more support and stability compared to the 1,500 lb springs. At a minimum, I would get the # SSR-106-40-1 with a 3,000 lb capacity. For the front you can...

  • SumoSprings Fit on 2019 Winnebago Minnie Winnie on Ford E-350 Chassis
Yes, the E-Series Cutaway is correct for the E-350 chassis, and I was able to verify the correct SumoSprings for your 2019 Winnebago Minnie Winnie motorhome, which are the following: - SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs # SSR-106-40-1 The SumoSprings # SSR-106-40-1 will fit so long as you have at least 7 inches of clearance from the sidewall of your tire to the frame on dual rear wheel models, which I believe all models of your motorhome have. So you'll want to check to make sure,...

  • Comparing SumoSprings Maxim and Solo Custom Helper Springs for a 2020 Coachmen Leprechaun
The SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs like part # SSR-106-40-1 are what I recommend for a 2020 Coachmen Leprechaun. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs like part # SSR-130-54 are a good option as well but they don't engage constantly like the Maxim. The Solo only engage when loaded or the suspension reaches a threshold whereas the Maxim are always working so you always get the added support and anti-sway benefits.

  • Front Mounted Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2017 Thor Outlaw On Ford E-450 Chassis
The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65053 is confirmed to fit on the 2008-2017 Ford E-450 RV Cutaway chassis. So it will fit your 2017 Thor Outlaw 29H class C motorhome on either a 2016 or 2017 Ford E-450 chassis. The chassis changed for 2018. I recommend installing the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-106-40 to improve your front suspension. • Recommended SumoSprings for 21 Foot Long 2004 Chinook RV
Though this is a bit of an estimation, an average 2004 Chinook RV on an E-350 chassis will weigh around 10,000 pounds. This is around 4,000 pounds heavier than a standard E-350. I mention this as it will play into which SumoSprings kit you end up deciding on. With all that being said, the blue kit # SSR-106-40-1 will have a 3,000 pound capacity (at 50% compression) and may not do as much as you want it to. Typically this will be used on a standard E-350 to add support when needed, so with...

The different colors of SumoSprings relate to how firm the foam is that they are made of. Blue being the lightest followed by black and then finally yellow as firmest. For what you are wanting from your 2015 Thor Majestic 28A the best solution is the SumoSpring Maxim part # SSR-106-40-1 which has the lightest foam and a two piece design. • How to Reduce Side to Side Movement on a 2017 Thor Four Winds Motorhome
The side to side sway and body roll will be greatly reduced when you add anti-sway bars to your 2017 Thor FourWinds Motorhome. If you've already done this, then Sumo Springs are a great option for more support. If you haven't added sway bars, I recommend starting with the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar for Motor Homes # RM-1139-147 and then adding the Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar for Motorhomes # RM-1139-176. These help keep the frame from twisting and moving. I've attached some videos...
