Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 was designed with an exact purpose: to provide full-time, first-class support to your 3/4- or 1-ton pickup, motor home, or commercial truck. With this kit, you get a safer ride and simultaneously protect your vehicle from the strain that comes with hauling massive loads.

Carrying heavy cargo in your truck bed or trailer puts tremendous stress on your vehicle. Your brakes erode faster, your tires wear unevenly, and handling suffers severely. When towing, you might also experience excessive sway, bottoming out, and even improper and unsafe headlight aim. Fortunately, there is a solution to these problems. By pairing your existing suspension with the LoadLifter 5000, you can seriously beef up your suspension, ensure equal load distribution, and give your vehicle the support it desperately needs. Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 provides up to 5,000 pounds of load-leveling capacity and distributes the weight of your payload to all four wheels. As a result, the stress on your OEM suspension is significantly reduced.

LoadLifter's air bags are adjustable from 5 to 100 psi for precise support, and they can be inflated independently of one another for front-to-rear and side-to-side leveling. They are made of high-quality, two-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber. Most air bags lose air at the ends, where the bag is enclosed with a steel cap, because the steel can rust and corrode over time, creating small holes. The endcaps on Air Lift air bags are fashioned from corrosion-proof Zytel nylon, a material that is both stronger and lighter than steel, ensuring that the air bags won't lose air. Also, LoadLifter 5000 comes with Air Lift's exclusive roll plates, which both protect your air springs and beef up the load capacity of the springs.

This system installs with the included brackets and hardware. Just mount the springs, inflate them, and ride. To inflate the LoadLifter springs, you just have to pump air in through the inflation valves. A line kit is included with the springs so that you can install the valves (one for each spring) in an easily accessible area - typically they are installed on the bumper. If you want to make the springs even easier to use, you can get a compressor and gauge system (sold separately).

Air Lift kits are designed to keep your vehicle at normal ride height. You can find the normal ride height of your vehicle by unloading it and measuring the distance between the bottom edge of your wheel well and the center of the hub. After you find and record this distance, you can regulate the amount of air that you put into your air springs to maintain normal ride height - even when you are hauling a heavy load. You will need to adjust the air pressure in your air bags according to the size of your load.

Along with a lifetime warranty that has no mileage restrictions, Air Lift offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Just install and use LoadLifter 5000 springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove them from your vehicle and return them for a full product refund. Now that's confidence.

Video Transcript for Air Lift Air Helper Springs Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today in our 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500, we'll be installing the Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 Air Helper Springs, part number AL 57275. Now before we begin our install, we're going to go ahead and measure the ride height of our truck. With no additional weight in the pickup bed, from the ground to the bottom of the wheel well we have 41 inches. Next, we're going to go ahead and add approximately 2500 pounds of weight to the truck bed. With the weight added, it brings the ride height down to 37 3/4 of an inch. Now we'll go ahead and run it through our test course to check handling and ride quality with the excess weight. With the excess weight, we lose steering stability and the ride quality is rough and bumpy. Now let's go ahead, install the Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 Air Helper Springs and with air in our Helper Springs, we'll now go ahead and re-install our 2500 pounds. With the weight re-added in the Air Springs as necessary, it brings it back to our normal ride height of approximately 41 inches. Now we'll go ahead and run it through our test course again.

Bringing the vehicle back up to ride height and helping control the weight, it brings back our steering stability and ride quality. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install the Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 Air Helper Springs. Now to begin our install, I recommend you go ahead and lower or remove the spare tire to give yourself a little more working room. Next we're going to go to our workbench and start assembling the air spring. To begin our assembly, we'll take the air bag and two roll plates. One for the bottom and one for the top. We'll then line up the pre-drilled holes in the roll plate with our attachment points in the air bag.

Now starting with the top of the air bag, we'll then take the 90 degree elbow provided with the install kit and install it into the top of the bag at the fitting. We'll first install it hand tight and then as per the instructions, an additional 1 1/2 turn from hand tight. Now with it fitting in place, we'll need to install the upper bracket. As per the instructions for the driver's side, we'll be using the 2 slots marked A and go and use our paint marker to mark them as the driver's side. We'll use a 3/8ths bolt, split lock washer and flat washer going through the upper bracket, through the roll plate and into the air bag. We'll install both of these fasteners finger tight but leaving it loose enough that we can still adjust the upper bracket as needed along the slots. Next, we'll start assembling the lower bracket. For the driver's side, we'll first take a 5/16th bolt and put it through the pre-drilled hole in the corner of the bracket.

Then we'll take a 3/8ths bolt and nylon locknut, go through the center inboard hole of our lower bracket. We'll go ahead and tighten it down. Next, we'll take two 3/8ths carriage bolts, put them down through the large, pre-drilled holes in the upper bracket, fitting them into the lower square holes that they'll line up with. Now with the hardware in place, we'll go ahead and take the bracket and attach it to the bottom of the air bag. We'll use the 3/8ths flat head screw bolts to secure it. We'll go ahead and tighten them down. Now with the pre-assembly of the air bag done, we'll move back to the truck.

We'll need to remove the manufacturer's bump stops. To do that, we're going to spray each of the bump stop studs with some spray lubricant and then remove the nut from the stud. Once we remove both nuts, we'll go ahead and remove the bump stop completely, as it will not be re-installed. Next, we'll need to create a little more distance between the manufacturer's bump stop plate and the bottom of the frame. We'll go ahead and take a jack and raise up the vehicle, taking some weight off the suspension. Now we can go ahead and take our air bag assembly that we pre-assembled and set it into position, noting that the tabs of the lower bracket will fit around the bump stop plate at the top of the axle. Once we get one around it, we'll walk the other one from the inboard side around the bump stop plate. Then we'll line it up with the frame and upper bracket. Next we'll install two 3/8ths bolts along with a flat washer for each, going down through the frame and through the upper bracket, reusing the pre-drilled holes in the frame from the bump stop fasteners. We'll secure each of these fasteners with a flat washer and nylon lock nut provided with our install kit. Once they're in place, we'll adjust it so that the upper bracket keeps the air bag centered to the frame and lower bracket. Then we can go ahead and tighten down our fasteners. We'll first tighten down the 3/8ths bolts to the frame and then the 3/8ths bolts to secure the upper bracket to the air bag. Next, we'll move to the lower bracket. We'll take the axle strap, fit it over the carriage bolts and bring it up to the axle where we'll install a flat washer and nylon lock nut. Once in place, we can go ahead and tighten it down. Tighten it down evenly, front to back of the axle. All right. Now with our air bag secured, we'll repeat the same process on the passenger side. Next, I'll move back over to the driver's side where we'll install the brake line bracket onto the 5/16th bolt we put into the lower bracket earlier and secure it with a nylon lock nut. Then we'll install the brake line clip around the parking brake cable and secure with a second 5/16th bolt and nut. Now we'll go ahead and tighten it down. This will help keep the parking brake cable from interfering with the air bag. Now we're ready to install the air line for our air bags. First we're going to go ahead and pre-drill two 5/16th holes for our inflation valves. We're going to choose a spot here in the bumper, near the license plate light. We'll go ahead and drill the holes first. Then we'll prep the line by finding the center of the line and cutting it in half. We'll take one end and the inflation valve, install a nut and install a washer. We'll then put it through the pre-drilled hole with the inflation valve facing out. To secure it, we'll install the rubber washer, flat washer and a second nut and tighten it down. We'll repeat the same process for the other side. Now with both inflation valves installed and secured, we'll go ahead and rout the lines. Keep in mind when routing the lines, stay away from any moving components such as steering or suspension or excessive heat such as the exhaust. We're going to go ahead and take our line and rout it inside the frame channel and then ultimately to the air bag. Once we get to the air bag, we'll cut off any excess air line and then install it into the inflation valve. To install it into the inflation valve, we'll line it up with the inflation valve and firmly press it into place and then pull back to lock it in position. Here, on the passenger side, we're going to use the line protector that will help protect the line as it passes through the pre-drilled hole in the frame and then install the air line into the inflation valve. Now with both lines installed, we will then use the zip ties provided with the install kit to secure the line. Special note: behind the bumper, I've left an extra loop of air line that could potentially have been cut off. The reason for this is, should we ever decide to go back and add an Air Lift Load Controller and Compressor System, we'll have some line to work with and maneuver as necessary. Next, we'll install our heat shield. Our heat shield can be custom bent to fit the tailpipe. Now to bend it, we'll simply take the tabs of the heat shield, bend them in and then flatten them out to create an attachment point. We'll then use the wiring clamps provided with the install kit to secure the heat shield to the tailpipe. I'll tighten up the clamp a little bit to take some of the slack or looseness out of the clamp and then slide my heat shield into position. I'll slide the clamp over the tab and then tighten it down. Next we'll go ahead and supply air to the inflation valve and check for leaks. Once we've aired it up, we'll then go ahead and take a soap and water solution and spray each one of the connection points for our air line. Now we've checked for leaks, we're ready to hit the road and that does it for the install of our Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 Air Helper Springs, part number AL 57275 on our 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500. .

Finished the install last weekend fairly smoothly. I jacked up one side of the truck at a time since I only had one jack. Had to put the jack on cinder blocks to get it high enough to engage the leaf spring front mount. One comment/suggestion for the installation guide. The only thing I struggled with was the parking brake cable. It was exactly in the way of engaging the bottom bracket to the axle. No matter how I moved the bracket it would not clear the cable. Then the light came on, release the brake dummy! Once the brake was released there was plenty of room to engage the assembly onto the axle. Of course, I did put some chalks on the front tires to keep the truck from rolling while I was underneath... No leaks, and it seems to ride much smoother than before. Thanks for a great product, 104826

I still like the product but it seems to have a slow leak somewhere and will not hold air pressure for a week at the original setting. Guess I need to do a bubble leak test, just have not gotten to it. Other than that the product is great.

The kit was nice and complete. Installation took about three hours. The instructions could have used more pictures. The upper bracket needed more pictures. The kit was neat and install was easy with very little tools. I would recommend this to my friends. 617301

The addition of the Air Lift is by far something I should have done years ago. I was short in time so I had my local Midas shop install them. They work so well. I only needed 20 lbs. of pressure to level the truck and trailer. On the road, the trailer rode better, braking felt better, and the up and down motion I disliked going over bumps is gone. Awesome product for safety while towing. 568497

About a year ago, I installed this on my 2013 Ram 1500 with the hemi. I pull an enclosed 6x12 trailer with my tools and equipment in it. The trailer has a heavy tongue weight and is driven in city traffic every day. This kit has saved my front tires from wearing any more than they did as well as how easy it is to adjust the height of the truck based on my current load. I recommend it. 295497

Have had the air bags installed for 3-4 weeks now. Love them! Huge difference in ride quality when hauling or towing heavy loads. My only criticism is in the design. The left side fit perfect and the bag is perfectly aligned vertically but the right side bag is canted slightly. Almost as if the bottom brackets holes are drilled slightly off. I called the company and was told that up to 15 degrees is acceptable. It just looks as though the bag may wear more but time will tell I guess. I would still recommend. Also looking at purchasing the compressor system to ensure the bags always have adequate pressure. 421216

Have a 2018 28.5 Jayco fifth wheel 1400 LBS pin weight only need 10 psi to level the truck! Rides great! Thanks Again E Trailer 566616

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Installed this kit a month ago and used it three times pulling my travel trailer. Works as described and has performed as I expected it to. I have a GMC 1500 and no matter if I have my travel trailer with a 600lb tongue weight or 6'x10' single axle trailer with a 160lb tongue weight, with load of course, my truck would squat in the back. I already added a sway control/weight distribution system and now wanted to get my truck in the right configuration while pulling. For safety and performance. After reading a lot of reviews I chose this kit. This kit was easy to install but did take 3 or 4 hours. I wasn't in a rush and wanted to make sure I followed everything in the instructions and not miss anything. I didn't want to rush through it to miss a critical step and then lose brake fluid due to a hole in a brake line. Mainly didn't want to break anything important nor did I want to puncture the air lifts or the poly lines. Kit went on as expected and fit perfectly. The instructions included pictures and examples to follow that illustrate how everything fits and where everything should be routed. I would definitely buy again. 589432

This was an airbag install that took me about 4 hours. I did this in my garage with a minimum of tools. I did end up about an inch higher bed height even with empty airbags and no weight on the vehicle but this may come down with use. The shipping from etrailer was fast and the sales agents have firm grasp of their products and installation procedures. I can always get a straight answer from them. I also ordered the curt under bed gooseneck hitch. This took me about 8 hours to install but I was in no hurry and wanted it done right. Thanks etrailer for great service. 491845

The product was delivered in a perfect condition and as scheduled. Very simple installation for 2016 Ford F150. The Ride with 5 lbs is better than the factory ride. I thought it would be a rough based on what others said. The rear height did get raised by 1/2" at 5 lbs. With a good bicycle pump it took 4 pumps to get to 20 lbs., that's much better than getting out the the compressor. 485152

Previously installed Firestone air helper springs in my Ford F250. Wish I would have ordered them instead of the Air Lift helper springs. While quality of Air Lift appears to be good, installation compared to installing the Firestone system is a real bear. Firestone easily as good quality and much simpler/easier to install. 99455

The product arrive in a timely matter as with everything that I have purchased from e-trailer , the only problem I had was there were some lock nuts missing from the package , 2 pouches were opened when I opened the box , [ this was from the factory not e-trailer fought ] the photo's in the installation booklet could have been a little clearer , my truck has sway bars and none of the photo's showed them that I could see and the installation book didn't talk about them , Had to figure it out on my own . Other than that no problems , took about 4 hours to install , a 4 point drive on lift would be a great help , also remove the spare tire , it helps 513733

One year later I still like these airbags. My truck rides level and handles smoothly. Without a load, however, its stiff in back and bounces, even with the airbags deflated.

I haul a 8' truck camper that pops up, it has a app. 1400 # weight to it. I also pull a 17' Lund boat that is loaded with my 2011 Dodge 1500. When I first put the truck camper on the truck before installation of the air bags, my truck squatted 6", basically it bottomed out. But when I put the air bags on, WOW, what a difference it made. Now when I travel down the road, there is no more swaying, or bouncing like it use to do on my Chevey that I use to haul it all with without any air bags. But now I see Dodge these are put on all their trucks. I am SO HAPPY I purchased these, & would recommend them to anyone. I told my neighbor about them & he put a set on his F2500, to pull his 31' 5th wheel, & he loves them. I was 65yrs. young when I purchased & installed these Air Bags, & was a welder for 45yrs.. nut if you have any doubts weather you can put them on. Well relax the video that shows you how to put them on when you purchased them makes it a breeze. I hope this easess your mind if you are in doubt about making the purchase. And the price I believe was more than fare. Good Luck to All, And May GOD RICHLY BLESS ALL WHO CALL ON HIS NAME. 345917

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

I ordered the Air Lift 5000 from etrailer and I was very pleased with doing business with them. I normally order parts from someplace else but I will be using etrailer for all my future needs. The part was delivered on time and etrailer helped me make the right choice for my needs. Helpful, knowledgeable, timely, and provided the right part for the job; 5 stars from me for that. Now onto the Air Lift 5000. I was amazed at how detailed the instructions were. They made it extremely easy to follow the instructions while building the assemblies. Probably one of the easiest part assemblies I have ever put on a truck and definitely the most detailed instructions I have ever seen. Everything bolted directly to stock mounts on the frame and no drilling was required. After getting everything mounted to the truck and installing the air lines, I was a little skeptical about the air line connections and I was afraid of leaks. I filled both air lines to 60 PSI after the install and when I checked the pressure this morning, I was still at 60 PSI. The last thing I will cover is the ride. I have not towed my trailer yet but I am excited for when I do. I dropped the air pressure to 7 PSI this morning and took a 30 mile drive. The difference this part has made is unbelievable. It still rides like a truck but it is much stiffer in the back now when driving on rough roads which adds a huge difference to the ride quality. I can only imagine the difference I will experience when towing my 12k trailer. Overall, I could not be more happy with my purchase. etrailer has 5 star customer service and they sold me a 5 star part. 484223

Thanks for the follow up. That is exactly what I love about this company, the customer service is out of this world!!! Everyone I have talked with there has gone above and beyond to make sure we are happy with our many many purchases. Everything we have bought there for a 5th wheel has been great. We do not have one complaint. Your company will have us for customers forever. It is so hard to find companys that truly care about their customers like you all!!! Thank you so much!! for taking time to go that extra mile!!!

Came well packaged, all itsy bitsy parts accounted for. Says no drilling required but you will need a cutting wheel or hacksaw to cut a bolt off. Instructions are pretty good but pictures sometimes don't show exactly what you need to know. My favorite part 2 hrs install. We all know that means at least 4. One more hour and I'll be finished. 426268

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

Fast shipping and excellent customer service. Will continue to purchase from etrailer. Took about 8 hrs to install the kit. I'm sure that would have been faster for someone who has done it before but I took my time. The air bags work just as I wanted and the kit appears to be high quality materials. If you purchase a kit take your time installing as it's best to fit and refit a couple times on parts of the kit to ensure everything is going as laid out by the instructions. 72041

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

This Loadlifter worked excellent. Put a Lance camper at 2600 lbs. on my Ford F350 crewcab pickup. Despite the camper package option on my truck with extra rear leaf springs, it still pushed the bed end down and the hood side up in the air. Annoying side to side roll as well. The AirLift LoadLifter had very good instructions and was not difficult to install. Drilled five holes in the frame on each side to attach. Plenty of part options to make it a very good fit. Aired up the springs until the camper was perfectly level. Truck now drives level and considerably less side to side roll. This was well worth the price for the performance. 53242

I had this installed by my mechanic, he said no problems, basically just bolted in. I went to pick up my 30' travel trailer and I adjusted the pressure to 20psi before I hooked it up. Before the air springs there was a noticeable sag in the back of the truck with the trailer hitched. With just 20psi in the bags there was barely any sag at all, and the trailer pulled much better. Planning on a trip this weekend and I'll probably increase the pressure up to 30psi to see how that works. Very happy with this product, I wish I would have bought it years ago. 256010

Greetings ...... Very detailed directions enclosed with product. Air lift kit is doing exactly what I needed to have done , raising rear bumper of my '06 F150 to tow RV to prevent sagging and sway. Was considering air shocks, until air lift kit appeared on my radar. 496910

The air bags went in great, and pretty easy. I did not like the recommended location for the air valves. So I put them through the body panels to have them inside the back doors. They work great like that. I just put in a 7/16” grommet in the panel to run the air line through the outside panel. Works great and easy to fill with air. 544314

First thing is e-trailer the best to buy from , hands down! Air lift 5000 not a great kit in my opinion . This is not my first air bag install , over 12 so far. Brackets look good , bags fit them good and hardware is ok. The problem is the upper bracket is 3/4k inch short of sitting against frame . Jounce cup is in the way , I tried to mock it up in place but hardware is to short . Jounce cup had to be removed for bracket to fit up to frame , it's welded on . This kit is not what I would average to install . I'll try a different manufacturer next time. 2009 chevy 1500 4x4 crew cab . 176164

Quality of the air helper springs appears good. The installation instructions were good and the parts fit as intended. The Air lift Controller One Compressor works well and quickly inflats the air bags. In fact the compressor only needs to run about 15 seconds to fully inflate the springs when they are under no load. I have made several purchases from etrailer and have been very satisified each time. Keep up the good work! 37698

Straight forward install. Allow 6+/- hours to get it right. DO read the instructions. Measure the clear height first and get the optional lift blocks if even close to 7" 338388

Comments

Product works very well. My F250 had the camper package with added helper spring. That increased the spacing and thus the need for the lift blocks. Before the blocks, I was breaking the air fitting off of the top of the bags. Air-Ride was awesome. Replaced the bags and sent additional fittings. I put a T in so they would inflate at the same pressure consistently.

Molly was EXTREMELY helpful and informative. Every company needs to have lots of Molly's working for them !!!!! The product was installed as described and we can not wait to try it out with our camper. I will buy again from e trailer and free shipping was a additional savings. 528013

Review from a similar Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 in Vehicle Suspension

High quality and heavy duty. Good instructions as well. Just got them installed yesterday on my 2009 F-150 crew cab with 6.5' box. I also have the B&W turnover gooseneck ball hitch and my main concern was still being able to mount these. Fit like a charm, no interference at all. I wish I would have purchased them sooner. Sometimes we haul loads that might be just a bit heavy for an F-150, but we are careful. These will certainly help. I have similar air bag type suspensions install on our other two work trucks and I love them. What I did was got myself a 1/4" compression tee and plumbed both air bags into one valve. That way, they air up evenly. It comes with everything to air up each bag separately but I prefer them to be the same. They cost about $6 at any hardware store. I mounted the single air fill valve near the drivers tail light inside the box facing forward. There is an opening where the tail light harness runs up and I followed that with the air valve. I drilled a hole and snaked a tie wire down and through some finagling I managed to get the valve out the hole and mounted. Looks good and is out of the way. Install took me about 5 hours from tools out to tools away, but I was not in a big hurry. I aired them up to 70 psi and drove home looking like a hot rod with the back kicked up. Checked the air pressure this morning and all is well. No leaks as far as I can tell. Highly recommended and a great price as well. 643462

Ordered and received in two days! Installed today. Took 5 hours which is not bad for a 62 year old with two arthritic shoulders and a bad back. Instruction were followed. I did wrap the carriage bolts on right side to protect the brake line. Will test with RV attached to see how my truck rides. 617903

  • Will B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Fit 2006 GMC Sierra with AirLift 5000 Helper Springs
  • I spoke with my contact at AirLift regarding the LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57275 you have installed on your 2006 GMC Sierra. He stated that with this particular system there will not be any compatibility issues with a gooseneck hitch like the B&W Turnoverball Hitch # BWGNRK1067. The air springs mount under the frame rail while most 5th-wheel and gooseneck hitches use the sides. This gooseneck hitch is confirmed to fit your GMC Sierra and will provide a towing weight capacity...

  • It is certainly possible to use the compressor from one brand of air bag kit with the actual air springs from another. The linked page shows the various Firestone compressors we offer and you'll note these range in psi pressure from 100-psi up to 150-psi. Air bags require you to maintain a 5-psi minimum pressure at all times to prevent damage to the spring.

  • Which Air Lift Kit is a Fit for 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500
  • The Air Lift suspension enhancement kit spring part # AL84201 that you referenced is a replacement spring and would not be an entire kit like you would need for your 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 dually. For that you would want the part # AL57275 as it is a confirmed fit. If you need more suspension support this kit would be what you would need. If the harshness you are describing is coming from the suspension bottoming out this would be the solution to fix that.
