Easy, Tool-Free Installation
To install, simply open your tailgate and slip the metal hasp around the hinge on the passenger's side of your truck. Slide the lock housing over the hasp until it's snug around the tailgate hinge and secure it with the included key. You can close the tailgate with the lock installed. The Gate Defender will not interfere with normal tailgate operation.

Bryan W was very helpful when I wrote to advise the lock would not unlock. He gave me some hints and offered to replace it but I was able to get it working with the use of WD40. I then installed the lock on my 2010 Tacoma with no problem.
My City has been plagued by a series of tailgate thefts and this lock gives me piece of mind.

After looking at the basic tailgate locks that required replacing the handle, I decided that I did not want another key jangling around in my pocket. I couldn't tell for sure whether keyed alike locks would require additional time and effort (trip to the dealer) after the sale. I simply wanted a basic deterrent that would work. This seems to fit the bill.

Tailgate is still on both trucks. I even put one of these locks on a truck with a lockable tailgate. I tend to forget to lock the tailgate every time but with the Pop and Lock, no need to remember. A little extra peace of mind.

Product is as expected. Fit my 2012 Tacoma with included adapter ring. Hoping it will keep the honest people honest. Wait time was a bit longer than hoped (1 month) as they were awaiting shipment from their supplier but they did reply after order to notify me of the wait.

at the time i purchased the lock numerous toyota tacoma tailgates were being stolen in hawaii. the lock prevents that, handles hawaii hot climate and still functions. great product would recommend.

We recently purchased 2 tailgate locks for my removable tailgate.
They were easy to put on. I tried removing the tailgate off with the locks in place & it looks like the next thief will have trouble stealing this one. Since my first tailgate was stolen I might purchase an extra lock since stealing tailgates is becoming popular here in AZ. These locks are great and it's cheaper to invest in these locks than to buy a new tailgate. I would recommend this product.

I love how easy the installation went ! The easy down feature is something I wish the manufacturer would have had as a feature but thankfully this product is out and works absolutely perfect. I also bought the tailgate lock and that was super easy to install as well and provides peace of mind . Even though the tailgate locks when truck is locked up it is nice to know that if I forget to lock the truck up my gate is still safe from thieves . Great products all the way around ! Thanks !

2015 Ford F150. Pop & Lock, The Gate Defender is a great product. A little tough getting hasp out of lock at first, but loosened up after a few times. Attached to tailgate with ease and should be the deterrent needed to keep tailgate from being stolen.

How do you know if a lock prevents theft unless you catch the thief in the act? I don't know either but I suspect that this lock will do exactly that..prevent theft of my very expensive tailgate. Incredibly easy to install..literally about 2 minutes. Inexpensive and easy to install peace of mind...especially when I've already chased off a thief trying to get a tailgate off a previous truck with a more complex to install lock...buy this and rest easier at night or when your truck is parked with nobody around but creeps...

2014 Toyota Tacoma
This product fits perfectly on my 2014 Tacoma. Fits snuggly, yet fairly easy to remove when the tailgate needs to be taken out. Only small thing about that is that it was a bit tricky to install. The tailgate has to be partially taken off the hinge but once you work around that, it fits nicely. This is a good product.

Great! A very simple, well designed, quality product that provides superb security. To consider how easily your tailgate can be simply lifted off and carried away by a theft, and the thousands of dollars it costs to buy a new one, paint it to match and install it, I’m surprised everyone doesn’t buy one of these inexpensive hinge locks.
