This awning-style bunk window is built for camper vans with a bed platform along the wall, where a full-height window would cut into cabinetry or structure. It brings in light and opens outward for airflow without giving up your sleeping space.
This window fits the narrow wall space above a bed platform where a full-height window would interfere with cabinetry, structure, or both. It brings in light while keeping the sleeping area intact.
The glass panel cranks outward to create airflow inside the van. Because it tilts upward, the window can remain open during light rain without water entering through the opening.
This bunk window sits at eye level from outside, creating a direct view into the sleeping area when parked near others or in public spaces. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
The clamp ring sandwiches the van wall between the interior and exterior frame to secure the window in place. When installed with foam seal tape, it forms a weathertight seal around the cut-out, so you get airflow and light at the bed without giving up wall space or getting rain inside.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer. Today I'm gonna take a look at the van windows direct awning van bunk window. Now this is an awning style bunk window. It's built for camper vans that have a bed platform along the wall, or a full height window would cut into the cabinetry or the structure. This will help bring in light, opens outward for airflow without giving up your sleeping space. Just to show you, I'm gonna pop up an insert so you can see there's an insert of this installed on the van.
You can see how it rotates outward, opens up. Now this is compatible with most van conversions and custom builds. It has a nice black aluminum frame that will match the other van trim to give you a factory style exterior look. Measurement on this window, overall length one end to the other is 34 and three-quarter inches long. The height 11 and three-quarter inches tall and it has a cutout dimension by using this template.
I give you a cardboard template that you can use. The cutout dimension is gonna be 33 and five-eighths inches long by 10 and five-eighths inches tall. But again, this template you can use to get the correct cutout measurement. Now this window is gonna sit at eye level from the outside, creates a direct view into the living area. And if you notice on the window itself, it has a 17 percent gray tint and that's gonna limit how much someone could see inside, while still allowing visibility from inside to the outside.
Also, that tint will block 83 percent of the UV rays, so reducing sun exposure through that section of glass. Now the glass panel will crank outward about three inches, creates air flow inside the van. Just to demonstrate that, I wanna turn to show you the T-handle right back here. So, this T-handle, when you start cranking it, you'll see as you crank it, that glass is gonna rotate outward just like that. Now you do wanna make sure if this is being installed on the passenger side, you wanna make sure you'll have clearance for a sliding door if your van has one.
And you can see because it tilts upward, the window can remain open during light rain without water entering through the opening. Again, the T-handle crank back here is what opens the window outward, holds it in any position. You don't have to go all the way out. It'll stop it anywhere you want to. And then you just turn it all the way back to close it. On the inside, it does have a mesh screen here. This will help keep insects out while the window is open. And that mesh screen can be removed if need be. It's in there pretty tight. It has a hook and loop fastener around the whole here, length of the window. So, you do have to really pull it hard to get the mesh screen out if you don't want it in there. Now to install this, it is a clamp ring installation. We'll create a nice weathertight seal. So, when this is installed in there, you can see this clamp ring will just go down like that. And then using the included hardware, screw it into place. The clamp ring will sandwich the van wall between the interior and the exterior frame to secure the window. And again, it includes the foam tape here to help seal it, the template we mentioned, and the screws for installation. Now this item can be installed by an experienced DIYer, but because it involves cutting into your van, we do highly recommend using a professional dealer that has the knowledge of window installations. We do offer an installer locator on our website to help you find an installer near you. And if you do have any other questions regarding this product or any of our products, feel free to reach out to us so we can help you get all of your questions answered for you. But that is gonna do it for a look at the Van Windows Direct Awning Van Bunk Window.
The window is excellent. How the clamp ring secures the window to the van leaves much to be desired, especially the Phillips metal screws. The foam tape that you put on the inside of the window is also less desirable. I used silicone glue on the backside of the window and some 1/4 furring strips on the inside under the clamp ring. I also used hex-headed metal screws of the same size that came with the window on the clamp ring. With the combination of the silicone glue, and the hex headed screws, the window is very securely mounted and waterproof.
I'm very happy with the results, and the window is very nice.
