Video Transcript for Install: Du-Ha Truck Storage Box and Gun Case on a 2022 Ram 1500

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install this Du-Ha underseat storage bin and gun bin, here on our 2022 Ram 1500. Now, storing things in your vehicle can be a bit of a trouble sometimes. Sometimes things just don't really fit anywhere in an organized way, and this is gonna help us get that cargo into a place that's hidden under the seats and it's going to be nice for separating that cargo, keeping it organized and keep it from spilling over our truck. Let's check it out. To give you an idea of the size you've got here, we've got a big tool bag in the middle section.

We've got some tools over in the section by me. Just some things to give you an idea of the space you're working with, and some boxes on the side by you. Now of course, you don't have to have this sectioned off. These inserts are removable. And for me, I would use them just because again, it separates the cargo and even if you're not using it as a gun case, it is going to help divide that cargo.

But if you are using it in that context and you do plan on storing firearms, these will give our firearms some dedicated spots to store, they're padded to protect them, and it's gonna keep them nice and orderly. If you do plan on using this to store firearms, please check your state's local regulations to make sure that it is legal. In most states, this is an acceptable way to carry your guns, but again, check your local laws and regulations and make sure that you're doing everything legally. The whole thing is gonna be a polyethylene construction. And the material is actually pretty thick.

It doesn't flex or bend too much and I feel like it's gonna hold up really well over time. I like the black color. I feel like it matches the interior of the vehicle well. And to that, it's also going to blend in. When we have the seats down like this, you can see it doesn't stick out too much.

It actually comes pretty much right in line at the end of the seat, sits a little bit underneath so it's not in the way. And from someone just walking by, it blends in. You don't really know that it's there, especially if the door is closed and it's someone just peeking in the window, they're not gonna be able to tell you have something underneath there. Install is gonna be really simple. It attaches to some points on your vehicle so it's gonna stay sturdy. You can see here it's not gonna fall forward or slip around because it is secured, and that install process will walk you through it right now. Getting the install started, you wanna lift your seats up and check underneath. If you have anything preexisting, like this one from the factory, you wanna get it removed. You might wanna remove it just for the extra versatility that the Du-Ha offers because this will be in the way and it doesn't have as many features. Pretty easy to get removed though. On either side we've got these three 10-millimeter bolts that you can remove. And then this piece is held in by a lip that we can just pull up on this plastic panel, pop it out on either side, and set this off to the side. This will free up all the room we need for our Du-Ha storage bin. The next thing we wanna check on is a bolt. It's gonna be in each corner, kind of towards the underside of the seat. I've already got this one partially removed. Pretty hard to see back there probably, but use an 18-millimeter socket to undo that on either side, because this will be our point that we secure to. Once that's removed on both sides, you can take it out and just set it to the side because we will reuse it. Then we can slide the box underneath and in place. And at each corner, we've got a slotted hole. We can use our brackets, these black ones here. The larger hole is gonna go right back to where that one bolt you removed is, and we'll use that bolt to reinstall and secure that bracket in place back there. On the other end of that bracket, we're gonna slide on our silver plate and secure it with our carabiner. It's a bit of a tight fit here, but you can get it lined up and pulled through, and now that's gonna hold it in place. We're gonna do this on both sides. The last step is our dividers. This little divot will line up with the divot on the actual box itself, so you know which way it's supposed to go for the small and the large one. And then, if you need to use these fabric straps to secure any guns, you can route them through this slotted holes. Or if you're just gonna be using this as dividers, you can set these to the side and not worry about them.
