Baja 3 Bike Rack on Trunk

Wherever your destination, this rack will help get your bikes from point A to point B. The Baja safely carries up to three bikes on the trunk of your vehicle, meaning you won't need a hitch or have to lift bikes over your head to load them on a roof rack.

Adjustment Hubs and Six-Strap Attachment System

Baja Hubs

Two interlocking hubs with quick-release levers ensure a proper fit on your vehicle. Just flip the levers up to open the hubs, and unfold the base of the rack. Then place the rack on your trunk and adjust the base's support arms to the desired angle. To secure the base in that position, line up the teeth on each hub and push the levers back down. Then rotate the levers until the hubs are snug.

Six adjustable straps with rubber-coated metal hooks and cam buckles secure the Baja to your vehicle. And four foam pads on the rack's base help protect your car's finish from scratches.

Dual Arms

Dual arms support your bikes and better accommodate women's, children's and alternative frames. (An adapter bar [HRBA-PRO - sold separately] may still be required.)

Anti-Sway Cradles

Baja Cradles

Rubber anti-sway cradles with straps firmly grip your bike's frame at three points to keep it from swaying front to back. This helps to keep your bikes from hitting each other and your vehicle during transit. The cradles rotate and slide along the arms, so you can easily adjust them based on the type and number of bikes you're transporting. And you can use the integrated safety strap to help keep your bikes tied down.

Folding Design

When it's not in use, the Baja can easily be folded flat for storage.

A security strap and a cable lock (sold separately) are recommended to deter theft of the rack and your bikes.

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Baja 3, trunk mountain bike rack, part number HRB3. The Hollywood racks Baja is an inexpensive way to carry three bikes with the need of a hitch. What differentiates this trunk mount from other trunk mount bike racks is that the dual arms don't fold down for compact storage while it's on your vehicle. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It's going to be a lot sturdier with less moving parts. It uses six straps total to mount it to your sedan or SUV, and the hooks are rubber coated so it won't harm the finish of our vehicle. It also features two pads at the top, and two pads at the bottom.

These are going to hold most of the weight, and they're also going to help absorb road shock and vibration. I've gone ahead and removed two bikes so we can take a closer look. The dual arms are going to provide excellent support for our three bikes. The cradles are made out of a one piece molded design, and it's going to secure our bikes in three spots. We have two spots for our top two to set in, and then one for our seat post tube. This one's going to be our anti-sway.

It's going to help prevent sway in our bike when we're on the road, as well as prevent bike to bike contact. The larger of the two cradles has raised grooves, so it's going to accommodate brake lines and cables, and all of the cradles use rubber straps so it won't harm the finish of our bike. Here at the rear of the bike rack, we have two reflectors, which is going to make our bike rack more visible at night. The hubs are going to make it easy to adjust to fit our vehicle, and the whole bike rack is designed to accommodate spoilers. The whole bike rack is made out of a sturdy steel construction, with a grey powder coat finish, so it's going to resist rust and corrosion. It also features a thirty-five pound per bike weight capacity, and it has a limited lifetime warranty. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. We've got it in the stow position right now.

Now, this will be the position you want to stow it on a shelf or in your garage somewhere. To get it installed on our vehicle, we can go ahead and open up the two hubs, we'll raise it up and set it in position. We'll set the bottom in place, close to our trunk. The pads are going to rest on our bumper, then for the top, our arms need to be parallel with the ground, or slightly inclined. We'll position them about there. Once we've got it where we want it, we can close up our hubs.

Now, let's connect our hooks. We'll start with the hooks right here in front, these are going to connect to our trunk here. It's a good idea to have most of the access already through the cinch, that way when you set it in place, you can go ahead and tighten it up quickly. We'll just repeat that same process with the other one on this side. Once you have them both in place, they should hold your bike rack still. Now, let's move on to our side straps. It's a good idea that when we connect these, we don't connect them to any plastic, so we're going to go right above our tail light here, and then we'll tighten that up. We'll just do the same for the other side, so we'll just choke up on that access. Now, in some cases, if we got too small of a crack to put our hook in, then we can pop the trunk. Once we've got it where we want it, then we can close it back up. Now, for our bottom hooks, these are just going to attach right here at the bottom of the trunk, just like that. With all of our hooks in place, let's go ahead and pull our straps nice and tight, and then we can bundle them up. Also at the top, and move on to the side, and then finally the bottom. I'm actually going to just use the rubber band that it came with. You can tie it to itself, or use a zip tie, or whatever you'd like. With that one done, let's go ahead and repeat the same process for the other straps. Now as you can see, our bike rack is nice and tight. Let's go ahead and load up some bikes. First thing we can do is undo our straps. Now, if we have to, before we load up our bike, we can adjust our cradles, that way our bike will fit better between our vehicle. We'll bring in our bike, and then we'll just work our way to the back. Now, once we have it sat in the cradle, we need to make sure that our seat post tube here is nice and snug up against this cradle here, and we'll bring our strap around, then connect it together. Then, we just finish off our top two straps. With one bike done, let's go ahead and load up two more bikes. As you can see, I've gone ahead and loaded up the rest of the bikes. Some bikes, such as women's, children's, and bikes with alternative frame styles, may require the use of a bike connector bar to sit evenly on the cradles. Hollywood racks makes one, and that's part number HRBA-PRO. Now let's run our safety strap. It's going to be located between the two pads here. We're just going to go between our frames. We'll come out through the front, then we'll go back over the top, come through, and then back through, and then pull it nice and tight. This is just going to give us some added security in the case of a catastrophic event. Once we've got it nice and tight, we'll just bundle it up. Now, since we've added some weight to our bike rack, it's a good idea to run through all of the straps that attach it to your vehicle, and just kind of tighten them up. We can just start at the top as we did before, the top two are tight, we'll check the sides. Now, let's take it out on our test course and see how it performs. Here on our test course, let's first go into our slalom. This is going to show side to side action, such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Corners, or evasive maneuvering. Then on to our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over pot holes, or uneven pavement. Then finally on to our solid speed bumps. This is going to show an up and down action, such as pulling in and out of a driveway, or out of a parking lot. That's going to complete our look at the Hollywood Racks, Trunk Mount Baja 3 Bike Rack, part number HRB3.

This is a great way for me to transport my bikes on trips (30 minutes to 2.5 hours). After several trips, I have noted that one of my bikes should not be placed nearest my trunk because it has a rectangular-shaped frame instead of cylindrical-shaped frame. I found that I can actually slide the mounts around just a bit which makes everything work much nicer. I also found out that it is important to get the pedals away from the frame of the car, to avoid denting and scratching (a slight dent in my tail-light occured, but switch my bikes around and moving the pedals solved this too). If you are careful with the placement, it works great! I may even get another one for a friend in time. 132561

1998 Honda Civic

This is an amazing trunk bike rack! It is very solid and I feel confident that it will hold my bikes safely and securely across many miles. I purchased this bike rack for a 1998 Honda Civic 4-door and it fits perfectly. I have a roof bike track rack but I'm too old to keep lifting the bike up over my head to put it on the roof of the car. This trunk rack makes mounting my bike very easy. I did not give the bike rack 5 stars because someone installed the lower clips that hold the bottom straps to the rack up-side-down. I had to forcefully turn the clips on the bar around, which loosened the bolt and nut, and then I had to find the properly sized tools to re-tighten both clips. Hopefully it holds up. I was hesitant to mess with a factory tightened screw and nut but couldn't cinch the straps at all until the clips were turned. Excellent trunk bike rack for a decent price. Thanks Hollywood Racks! 568670

Comments
Although the bike rack is well thought out and solid it does not work so well with my beloved Bianchi. The top tube on my Bianchi is not round but tapers in at the bottom so it does not sit flush in the bike rack cradles. There is a lot of bike movement when I am driving so I have to wrap the top tube of the bike with a piece of leather to fill out the bottom of the bike rack cradle. Its a hassle to be sure but I would encounter the same issue with most cradle style bike racks. Im not sure what others do in this situation but the leather seems to work.

If your bike frame doesn't allow your bike to sit level you can use the Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO
Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes
$30.69
to help your bike sit level. This connects to the handlebar post and the seat post and creates a horizontal top tube so your bike can rest in the cradles of your Hollywood Racks Baja bike rack.

I found etrailers website easy to navigate for the product I was looking. Each product provided it's own rating, so I was able to choose the bike rack that fit my vehicle and was affordably priced. The bike rack was shipped ups, who delivered the box the an out of sight location. The box sat in the rain, I contacted ups, who picked up the box. etrailer was great to deal with on the replacement. I would definitely check for future products. 312847

For ages I was looking for a bike rack that would fit my car that has a trunk spoiler. I emailed the etrailer team and they recommended the Hollywood Rack Baja - it arrived quickly and it fit perfectly! Didn't affect the paintwork and held together after a long freeway trip! From placing the order through to deliver the communication from customer support was excellent. This was my first experience with them and I would definitely be purchasing from them in future. 224819

My sons are very excited to be able to take their bikes this year, as last year that was the only thing missing! Price, service and shipping were great...I am hoping (and expecting) the actual product to be great as well! 214073

2004 Subaru Baja

The Baja 3 rack was easy to install on my 2004 Mazda 6 and the instructions were very clear. I only wish that there was a thick soft rubber cover for the side clips, as I had insufficient space/gap to insert them above my tail lights and must keep them below the tail lights at an angle. Alternately I may need to temporarily disconnect the anchor bolts for the bottom clips and slide the rack end of the strap for the side clips down and re assemble. Great looking product adaptable to many auto models. 156822

2007 Toyota Camry

First, eTrailer got me my bike rack in a quick 5 days from the day I ordered it! Thank you! The Hollywood Baja 3 rack seems to fit well with my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. I have set it up and mounted our 3 bikes on it. My biggest concern is that the flimsy metal edges and surface of the Camry trunk might bend with the weight of the bikes and rack, although the bike's total weight is within specifications. We are soon to go on a 800 mile trip with this rack and I will find out for certain how well it does then! Overall, I am impressed with eTrailer's fast service and with the Hollywood Baja 3 rack. 59578

This product is excellent and is fairly easy to use. It secures my bikes well and I'm not afraid to drive anywhere on the poor bumpy potholed filled roads of Pennsylvania. My only concern is what do I do when the plastic straps used to hold the bikes wears out? Can I purchase replacement straps? 212437

Product is excellent, however the anti-sway straps don't work on my vehicle, a Kia K900 because the tail lights don't provide a lip for the straps to hook around. Still works fine without, but I did pay more for this model because I liked the idea of the anti-sway feature. 706488

When the Baja is used on a vehicle such as your Scion tC that has a full-glass rear hatch, it should be installed with the Hollywood Racks Hatch Anchors # HR44FR
Replacement Hatch Anchors for Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top Bike Rack - Qty 2
$15.39
. These anchors fit in the gap at the top of the hatch, providing a metal ring to attach the bike racks upper hooks to without the hooks contacting the window.

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Baja in Trunk Bike Racks

I would highly recommend the product HRB2 (Hollywood Racks Baja 2 Bike Carrier) from etrailer.com. The product is reasonably priced and easy to install. Most importantly it did not scratch or damage the rear trunk or bumper. The video supplied is also very informative regarding installing it. Finally and most importantly it worked as advertised without jarring or moving around on the rack. It was very stable over uneven and bumpy terrain. Highly recommend. Jim 584298

I have a great trunk bike rack solution that does fit your 2019 Subaru Forester but at this time (March 2019) Hollywood Racks does not fit the Baja to your vehicle. Instead I'd recommend the Yakima Fullback part # Y02634 as it installs easily, has a wide pad for spreading out the weight of your bikes and rack, and it comes with locks for the rack to the vehicle and for bikes to the rack. The further away from the vehicle you get the more leverage is placed on the attachment points on the vehicle which could lead to loss of bikes and carrier as well as damage to the vehicle. I recommend looking at the Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Carrier # HRB3. This bike rack will also fit you 2012 Subaru Legacy and will carry 3 bikes. This bike carrier features anti-sway cradles to prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact. The Baja bike rack is our most economic 3 bike rack with anti-sway cradles for your vehicle. I have...

  • 3-Bike Rack Recommendation for 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible
For your 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible the Hollywood Racks Baja part # HRB3 is a confirmed fit and would work well. It can carry up to 3 bikes, is priced great and was tested on your vehicle and determined to be a fit. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review...

  • Is the Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Carrier a Compatible Fit for a 2007 Honda Element
Yes the Hollywood Racks # HRB3 is confirmed as a fit for your 2007 Honda Element. This bike rack attached to your vehicle using 6 adjustible cam buckle straps, and is equipped with sturdy anti-sway cradles. It also has red safety reflectors for enhanced visibility to other drivers. When not being used this rack folds flat for storage. Please note that with this bike rack and all trunk mounted bike racks you should not open the trunk/hatch with the bike rack loaded. Also the rear...

  • 3 Bike Trunk Rack Recommendation for a 2015 Honda Accord
Since the F1B Hollywood Racks trunk has been discontinued it was never tested on a 2015 Honda Accord. Most likely it would fit, but I do not know this for certain. For a 3 bike trunk rack by Hollywood racks that I can recommend you would want the part # HRB3. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Will the Hollywood Racks Baja Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2006 Nissan Sentra with Spoiler
The Hollywood Racks Express racks should not be used on vehicles with spoilers like on your 2006 Nissan Sentra but the Baja 3, # HRB3, should not have any problems fitting over the spoiler on your vehicle. I checked with Hollywood Racks and they only say not to use the Express racks if the vehicle has a spoiler but the other rack options like the Baja will work. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would)...

  • Will the Hollywood Racks Baja 3 # HRB3 Fit a Mercury Cougar with Factory Spoiler
After looking at your picture and speaking with my contact at Hollywood Racks, it would be very difficult to get the Baja 3 Bike Carrier, # HRB3, to work on a 1999 Mercury Cougar with the factory spoiler. Since these racks have not been tested on your specific year of vehicle with the spoiler, it is very difficult to determine which rack will be the perfect fit. After speaking with my contact at Hollywood Racks, he said that due to the top arm of the rack being longer on the Hollywood...

  • Will Hollywood Racks Baja Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Fit 2008 Mazda 3 Sedan With Spoiler?
I am happy to confirm for you that the Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Carrier # HRB3 is a confirmed fit for your 2008 Mazda 3 Sedan with a spoiler. Additionally, please note that when using a hanging rack like the Baja, it's possible you'll need bike frame adapter bar # 64005 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack. I've added a link to...

  • Will Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Trunk Mounted Rack Fit a 2004 Volvo C70 Convertible
Yes, the Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Rack, # HRB3, would be a great fit for your 2005 Volvo C70 Convertible. The top strap clips would be installed on the top edge of your trunk, and the bottom strap clips would be installed on the edge of your structural bumper, behind your plastic bumper. Its design offers ease of use with simple knobs for moving the bike rack arms, and it includes anti-sway cradles to keep your bikes more stable while your vehicle is in motion. You may find, however,...

  • Would the Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Carrier Fit a Dodge Neon
Most likely the # HRB3 would be a confirmed fit for your daughter's Dodge Neon, but since I don't know what year the vehicle is all I can do is say that it fits 2000-2005 Neon sedans. If she happened to have the older model Neon the Thule Passage part # TH910XT would fit and work well. It would fit right over the spoiler. Since she plans on carrying womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar...

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2006 Honda Civic and 1994 Honda Del Sol
I just answered your question about the bike rack for your 1994 Honda Del Sol where I recommend the Thule Raceway Trunk Mounted bike rack part # TH9001PRO. This rack will fit your 2006 Honda Civic as well. Like I said in my previous answer the softer bumper of your Del Sol would limit you to only carrying 2 bikes. Since you like the Hollywood Rack Baja 3 Bike Carrier part # HRB3 (also fits both vehicles) what you could do is use this rack on both vehicles but only carry 2 bikes with...

  • Fit of Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Rack # HRB3 on 1999 Mercury Cougar With Spoiler
According to Hollywood Racks, their Baja 3 model, part # HRB3 is indeed compatible with your 1999 Mercury Cougar if the spoiler is factory installed. The rack has a 100 lb capacity, so if the weight of the three bikes you want to haul comes in at under 100 lbs, you'll be good to go. If you'll be carrying women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes, it's a good idea to use a top tube adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the seat post and the handlebar...

  • Recommended Trunk Mounted Bike Rack for a 2009 Honda Accord and 2 Beach Cruisers
If the weight of your beach cruiser is under the weight capacity for the Bike Racks that you referenced yes, these racks would work for you. I checked all the racks you listed # TH910XT, # TH911XT, and # HRB3 and all have a 35 lb per bike weight capacity. I took a look at the racks offered for the 2009 Honda Accord and I would instead recommend the Thule Raceway PRO # TH9001PRO because of the great features it offers. It has adjustable dual arms that allow you to slide the arms closer...

  • Recommended 3-Bike Trunk-Mount Bike Rack for 2001 Honda Civic
We do offer a range of 3-bike trunk-mount bike carriers that will fit on your 2001 Honda Civic Coupe. All can be seen on the linked page. Since you're transporting 3 bikes that together could easily weigh over 100-lbs, you'll want to select as light a carrier as possible. The Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier # HRE3 is only 11-lbs and is also a low-cost option. Car trunks are not really intended to handle the 100+ pounds of a loaded 3-bike carrier so a light rack will help reduce...

  • 3 Bike Trunk Rack Recommendation for a 2010 GMC Acadia
The trunk mounted bike rack that I like the most and is a confirmed fit for your 2010 GMC Acadia would be the Thule Raceway Bike Rack part # TH9002PRO. The Raceway 3 includes a number of advanced features, including the patented Thule Fit-Dial system which makes precise installation simple and repeatable. This carrier uses 4 high-strength cables (rather than wear-prone nylon straps) to secure to your vehicle and it includes locks both for the carrier itself and for your loaded bikes....

The Yakima SpareRide 2 Bike Carrier # Y02599 should work for you, we had a customer with 35 inch tires report back to us saying this carrier worked well for him. The biggest determining factor will be the width of your tires though as this carrier is designed for tires from P195 (7.7 inches) to P318 (12.5). • Does Hollywood Racks Express 3-Bike Rack fit 2004 Acura MDX?
Yes, the Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier # HRE3 is a fit for your 2004 Acura MDX. This is a solid and economical choice for a trunk-mounted rack, though if you will be using it one a week I would recommend a rack with anti-sway cradles (which hold the bikes on the rack) instead of standard rubber cradles like the Express has. Anti-sway cradles will ensure your bikes do not make contact with each other or your vehicle and I would not use a rack without them. The Hollywood Racks...
