  • Frame Mount - Anti-Sway
  • 6 Straps
  • Non-Retractable

This 3-bike trunk rack adjusts to fit the shape of your sedan, hatchback, or van. It has adjustable arms that fold down for parking in tight spaces, and you can quickly remove it and store it in your trunk or garage.

Features:

  • Trunk-mounted rack lets you carry up to 3 bicycles on the back of your vehicle
    • Arched body fits over many types of spoilers
  • HideAway anti-sway cradles with ratcheting straps hold bikes at 3 points
    • Prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact
    • Fold up against arms so it's easy to slide bike frames over cradles

    • Locking strap (sold separately) secures rack to vehicle
  • 6 Nylon straps with hooks and cam buckles anchor the rack to your vehicle

  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Carrying capacity: 3 bikes
  • Weight capacity (per bike): 35 lbs
  • Distance between arms (outside cradle to outside cradle): 12"
  • Distance between bikes: 7"
  • Carrier weight: 13.5 lbs
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Thule Gateway Pro

The Gateway Pro lets you carry 3 bikes on the back of your sedan, hatchback, or van. Adjustable legs with oversize pads fit the contour of your vehicle. Adjustable arms with HideAway anti-sway cradles keep your bikes level during transport, and they fold down for parking in tight spaces. It installs easily with 6 straps with nylon-coated hooks and a FitDial system with vehicle-specific settings. It includes a Thule One-Key System cable lock that secure your bikes to the rack, and you can fold it flat for storage in your trunk or garage.

HideAway Anti-Sway Cradles with Ratcheting Straps

Thule Gateway Pro anti sway cradles

The Gateway Pro has HideAway anti-sway cradles that secure each bike at 3 points - twice along the top tube and once along the seat post or downtube. This helps to keep your bikes from rocking back and forth and bumping into each other, or your vehicle. The soft rubber cradles are set 7" apart on the arms, preventing your bikes from becoming tangled on the rack. You can remove the lower straps and fold the cradles up against the arms to make it easier to slide your bikes onto the rack.

Adjustable Dual Arms

Thule Gateway Pro anti sway cradles<br class=

The Gateway Pro has adjustable arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. The built-in levers allow the arms to be adjusted up and down. Just flip the lever up, rotate the arm to the desired position, then flip the lever down to lock the arm in place. This helps to keep your bikes level on the rack and provides increased ground clearance.

Thule Gateway Pro anti sway cradles<br class=

The levers also allow you to fold down the arms when the rack is not in use and to fold the rack flat for storage.

6-Strap Installation with Fit-Dial System

Thule Gateway Pro anti sway cradles<br class=

The rack installs quickly and easily with 6 nylon straps that keep it anchored in place. The steel hooks on these extra-long straps have a nylon coating to prevent scratches on your vehicle, and the straps tighten in place with easy-to-use, backpack-style cinches.

Thule Gateway Pro Fit Dial System

The FitDial system lets you easily adjust the rack to fit the shape of your trunk, and the long, arcing tubes are designed to fit over most factory spoilers. Simply press the Quick-Fit levers and rotate the base until the centers of the levers line up with the numbers on the dials. These vehicle-specific numbers are specified in the instructions included with the rack.

Thule Gateway Pro anti sway cradles<br class=

Holders with hook-and-loop tabs are included to bind up the excess strap length when the rack is mounted so the straps don't flap in the wind. They also keep the straps nice and neat when the rack is folded in storage.

Thule Gateway Pro foam pads

Oversized foam pads on the Gateway Pro's upper and lower bases grip your trunk or rear hatch to keep the rack firmly in place during transport. The soft padding helps prevent scratches and scuff marks on your vehicle.

Integrated Cable Lock

Thule Gateway Pro anti sway cradles <br class=

The rack includes an integrated cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. It has a Thule One-Key System lock cylinder that can be swapped out if you own other Thule products and want to use the same key to lock them all. The cable lock extends from the tip of the left arm, threads around your bike's frames, and secures to the arm. It retracts back into the arm when not in use.

There is also an available locking strap (sold separately) that secures the rack to your vehicle.

  • 2021 Volkswagen Golf Thule Gateway Pro 3 Installation
The Thule Gateway Pro 3, part # TH78VR, should fit your vehicle. You will have to open the hatch to get the hooks in place where the roof and hatch door meet and also at the bottom of the door. Once the hooks are in place you should be able to tighten them to secure the rack to your vehicle. You should not have to use any force to get this rack to fit. I have include link below that goes into installation detail.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2015 Lexus IS 250 for a Bike Rack and Light Trailer
I recommend the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, part # 24923, for your 2015 Lexus IS 250. It's confirmed to fit both the sedan or convertible models. The hitch is a Class I, 1-1/4 inch receiver so you need to make sure the bike rack you use fits the Class I. The bike rack I recommend is the very popular Thule T2 Pro XTR, part # TH23JV. The T2 is a platfrom rack that carries up to 2 bikes at 50 pounds each. it can be folded up out of the way when you're not using it as well as tilted...

  • Will Thule Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC
Thanks for reaching out, Yi! Thule hasn't listed any of their trunk mount racks, like the Gateway Pro 3 # TH78VR, as a fit for your 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC, but as an alternative I recommend the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack # Y02633 instead. The FullBack is comparable to the Gateway Pro in ease of use and sleek looks, and I've actually installed this a handful of times and found it to be one of the easiest trunk mount racks to install. Yakima has a note saying you need to install the straps...

  • Can Thule Trunk-Mount Bike Rack be Used on 2006 Honda CR-V
Thank you for all of the info and the picture! Normally when the hatch on a vehicle doesn't allow the hooks to properly secure you would just use an anchor type system like the Hollywood Racks part # HR44FR. These would sit inside the rear hatch area and would essentially pull against the door to hold the rack in place. I checked with all of our manufacturers and none of them list a fit for a 2006 Honda CR-V. So even if you were able to use anchors I'm not sure if a Thule bike rack, like...

We have several trunk mount bike racks that will work on the 2012 BMW X5. I have included a link to them for you to view. The Thule Gateway Pro, # TH78VR, would be my top choice for your vehicle. It comes with an integrated cable lock and a passive theft deterrent strap. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. Yes it is. I checked with Thule and the Thule Gateway XT Bike rack part # TH78VR that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for your 2012 Kia Optima so it would work great for you. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well. • Thule Passage vs. Thule Gateway Pro 3-Bike Trunk Mounted Rack
So you'll need a 3-bike trunk mounted rack for your Accord since you occasionally want to transport all 3 bikes, and the best option between the Thule Passage 3 Bike Rack # TH911XT and Thule Gateway Pro 3 Bike Rack # TH78VR, the best option, by far is the Gateway Pro # TH78VR. There are a number of reasons for this, and ease of use is chief among them. The process of just securing your bikes to the rack is made so much easier for the Gateway Pro over the Passage because the Gateway uses...

Or, if your A6 has the factory spoiler, the Thule Gateway, part # TH88VR for 2 bikes, or # TH78VR for 3 bikes would work great for you. • Recommended Trunk Mounted 3 Bike Rack for 2011 Toyota Prius
The Thule Gateway 3 bike model, part # TH78VR is a fit for your Prius. All of the racks you mentioned would contact the the rear window, but due to the fact that the vast majority of the weight would be borne by the bottom portion of the rack, this will not prove a problem. The straps would indeed be long enough to reach the top of the hatch. Although all the racks you mentioned would work, I sincerely believe you would like the OutWay, part # TH56BV best. The Thule Gateway Pro # TH78VR is listed as a fit for the 2012 Mazda CX-9. • Comparing the Thule Passage and Gateway Trunk Mount Bike Racks for a 2008 Volvo XC90
The main difference between the Thule Passage # TH911XT and the Gateway # TH78VR is how each functions. The Passage arms (that hold the bikes) can only move with the upper leg. This limits the vehicles that it fits and its ability to hold bikes level . The Gateway arms move independently of the upper and lower legs and each other. This allows for more vehicle fits and greater flexibility for mounting bikes level. The Passage requires removing a nut and bolt on each arm to make adjustments....
