Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

The Thule Passage offers an affordable, safe way to transport two bikes without a hitch. The Passage mounts to the rear of your vehicle with six integrated straps and Thule's patented Fit Dial system, which adjusts the rack base to ensure a snug fit.

The Passage includes cushioned anti-sway cradles with Thule's No-Sway Cage accessories to prevent bike-to-bike contact during transport. The anti-sway cradles also keep your bikes from making contact with the vehicle.

The carrier's dual support arms provide stability for your bikes during transit, and the arms conveniently fold down when not in use for additional rear clearance and easy storage.

2010 Subaru Forester

I’ve had the Thule bike rack for about three weeks now and have the following comments: 1. Order and delivery from etrailer was extremely great as I received the item within a few days of ordering. 2. Assembly of the bike rack was very easy and took a very short period of time. The instructions provided with the item were easy to follow. The online video on assembling and mounting the rack is also very good should you want to also follow that to ensure you did everything correctly. 3. The bike rack was mounted on a 2010 Subaru Forester and fit very well. It is secure and you can easily open and close the hatchback with the bike rack installed without the rack becoming loose. I’ve had the rack mounted the whole time and have had no issues with it becoming loose. 4. With a bike mounted on the rack, the bike is held very secure by the three straps and does not move around too much with the key being to secure the front tire to the bike frame using the enclosed strap. I’ve only traveled on city streets with bumps and turns so far with the bike mounted, but don’t anticipate any issues with high speed travel on the interstate due to the solid build of the rack and the way it secures a bike in place. Overall I am very satisfied with the product and would recommend it to others. 544653

2015 Hyundai Sonata

I ordered the Thule TH910XT trunk mount bicycle carrier for my 2015 Hyundai Sonata and it fits great! It comes in handy when I bike far away from home, on vacation or bringing the bike in for repair. It easily folds up and fits neatly in the trunk if so desired. It sets up quickly, holds the bike snug and keeps it from swaying back and forth towards the license plate which keeps the pedals away from the car. It holds another bike if desired and keeps the bikes from hitting each other. Great product...I'm glad I found it on etrailer.com. 157179

The rack is used for police bike patrol and overall is satisfactory for this duty. My only issues are the straps that hold the rack to the vehicle have a tendency to loosen up during cornering and need to be tightened at least twice during a shift. Also where the bars that hold the bike attach to the rack itself seem a bit "fragile". I'm sure this is because they can be turned down to lessen space when a bike is not on it. I understand we use this item a little more roughly than your usual customer and at times need to drive a little more aggressively. On a positive note, I am able to quickly attach and detach the bike and haven't had it fall off over the past year. I hope this helps. I am pleased with the rack overall. 402828

Mercury Milan

The Thule Passage bike carrier was exactly what I was looking for. It is the perfect size for 2 adult bikes. The rack is easy to setup and fits on to my Milan securely. My boyfriend helped me the first time but it is simple enough for me to put it on my car alone. The last time I ordered a bike carrier online it was big and bulky. Once I had everything out of the box and started to put it altogether, I found a paper at the bottom of the box saying that model did not fit 3 vehicles and one was mine. I was a little discouraged and now apprehensive when ordering another rack. But this carrier was exactly what it said it was and there were no surprise papers at the bottom of the box. Great choice if you're looking for a carrier for 1 or 2 bikes. 81310

A clamp-on adapter bar should do the trick. It attaches to the handle bars and the seat post to provide that flat bar. I have added links to Thule's bar, part # TH982XT

and all the bars we offer.

After a bad experience with a previous bike rack in high winds (not a Thule), we were very leery about bike racks. This one passes every test! We live in a state with high winds- this rack weathered 50+ mile wind gusts with ease. It was easily installed on our Buick Encore-VERY pleased with this rack! I have no qualms about taking this bike anywhere we go! Thanks! 521604

This bike rack is super! I purchased it for my college age daughter. She used it alot. It is easy to set up, it is easy to take off the car. It carries the bikes nice and tight and safely. It doesn't mark up the car. My daughter recommends this bike rake to all her college friends. They actually borrow it now and then. My daughter is a tiny person and this rack is easy to install, handle and hang bikes. 730632

Will the Thule TH910XT for the 2011 Camry accommodate a womens bike?
-- comment by: Sandy - 09/02/2013

2008

Yes it will, but it will probably need an adapter bar. Without an adapter bar, the bike either will not fit, or will sit far off balance like in the picture from Melony. An adapter bar provides a full size, level tube from which to hang the bike. Thule offers one, it is part TH982XT.

2013 Dodge Grand Caravan

I just assembled it and put it on my Dodge Grand Caravan last night. Took about a 5 mile ride with it this morning to see how it was doing. Seems to be fine. I've tightened all straps as tight as possible. The side clips seem to have a little play along the sides of the hatchback door but everything appears and seems to be solid. Even with the straps tightened all the way, you can still move/pull on them a bit, because they are nylon, so even though they seem to be secure now, I will check them at different intervals to see if they are retaining their hold. The sway bar option was a nice addition and I also cut some Velcro straps to tie down both wheels and the handle bars from swinging. Another nice surprise was that I was still able to open my rear van door with the bike rack attached. I would say, all in all, this is a great sturdy design and as long as I use due diligence to watch for any loosening of the straps over time, I should be just fine! 216686

Comments
One year later and no problems at all. I think the longest distance I have traveled with the bike on the rack has been about 25-30 miles, mostly around to local biking areas. I may be taking it a few hundred miles down the road coming up in the future as their are some out of state locations I want to go to. I will not hesitate to do this or worry about any issues since this rack has shown itself to be so dependable. I usually leave it on the van for a few months at a time and when I have had to remove it and put it back on, it has been quite easy and fast. After having the rack on for a long period the rubber foam cushions can get pretty flattened where they sit up against the window and back of the van, The foam will reform back out about 25 of where it was flattened to, so probably at some point I may need to replace that foam but other than that I have no complaints and have been extremely satisfied with this product.

2015 Ford Edge

Ordered online, it shipped the same day. Received it 3 days later. There is a little assembly, but, pretty simple. It took me less than 15 minutes to install and no tools were needed. It is adjustable to be used on many different auto types, but, the instructions were very clear about how to adjust it to fit my 2011 Ford Edge. I have used it twice so far to transport my bike. There are a couple of items that are inherent in the design, not a flaw, but, you need to be aware of them. First, you can't use rear window wipers. Second, the back-up alarm goes nuts because it registers a bike less than 6 inches behind you (I tolerate it for the few seconds it takes to back out of my driveway or out of a parking lot). Third, there is a little flexibility, it is held on with straps and clamps, not bolts, so, it bounces a little when you go over bumps or make sharp turns, however, it holds the bike fast to the frame and stays on the car. I use mine to transport my bike on short trips around town to bike trails. On a long trip I would suggest checking that the straps remain tight from time to time during the drive. 173351

2010 Toyota Corolla

We have used an older Thule rack on Honda Accords for over 10 years. The current TH910XT, recently purchased for a Toyota Corolla, is definitely a step up. Very simple set up instructions and a very stable mount for our two full sized touring bikes. 221862

1999 Honda Civic

Good product that folds when not in use, but I don't like the side and bottom straps. They are not separate straps and they use a much poorer design compared to the top 2 straps to tighten them down. Top 2 straps use a simple unlock with thumb, pull to tighten, then release thumb and automatically locks straps in place. Side and bottom straps are a loop through design and require you to pull and tug on the other end to tighten. Also top straps when using the clamps on the trunk pulls it too far up causing about a finger gap. So I re-read the instructions and choose to re-route the strap through the clamp to go under the trunk like a support. That prevents my trunk from excessive gap. I had already contacted etrailer for a return but found out the return shipping alone was almost the cost of the product so I decided to keep it and use it for the time being. So either get a different design trunk rack, or just go with a hitch. Its better that way. I just swapped mines out for a hitch considering the price of the hitch is similar and more sturdy. 134157

Thank you for the comment Qhua! If you do experience any difficulty in mounting the carrier with the top hooks, as you mentioned you can re-route the top clips to be used as a in clip this is our Versa-Clip design that will allow for multiple mounting methods. We also appreciate your feedback on the strap design. As the top straps are the most load bearing, we have used a different tensioning system to ensure trouble free operation. Thanks again!

Was fairly easy to figure out and put together. Mounting it to my 2010 Exuinox was a little time consuming doing it alone, but all in all it was worth the time. Held our two bikes very well. I would recommend this product to others looking for a more economical way to transport bikes other than having to install a receiver that hitches to a bike rack. 180118

The package looked as though it had been used as a soccer ball (see pictures). Fortunately, the rack seems to be in good condition. Key word "seems". Another thing, I ordered on a Tuesday evening with 3-day shipping (which cost extra). It was shipped at around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday according to an email. So I'm thinking I'm going to get it Friday. Makes sense. 3-Day, shipped Wednesday early (day 1). Should be here Friday (day 3). No such luck. Another email stated that because of the holiday it wouldn't arrive until Tuesday September 5th. I won't be ordering from this company again. 430012

The e-trailer service is exceptional. I had trouble mounting this rack on my 09 VW CC and they provided technical assistance. Due to the fit issue I returned the rack and purchased a hitch mount set-up. They were very helpful in assisting with the return and alternate purchase. In this age of poor internet customer service they are great. If it is not right they will work with you on a good solution. 120397

2006 Scion xA

The Thule Passage 2 fit well on my Scion xA (2006) and carried two road bikes with aplomb on a 5-hour drive at ~70 MPH in the rain. The mounting brackets for the bikes required adjustment to space out the two bikes further apart; this took a lot of force to move but I was eventually able to get them positioned so the two bikes, one with an XL and the other an XS frame, could be mounted properly. The bottom and side straps and clips feel kind of wobbly but in practice they held up perfectly fine. 310845

Made a last minute decision to purchase this bike rack so that my daughter would have more room in her SUV for a move to Charlestown, SC. As promised by Kelly, it arrived the evening before her departure with only a $7 or so 2- day delivery charge. Although a little concerned, it was at my house in a little over 48 hours. Had a little issue with the mount due to the bike's unusual frame, but the design of the rack and the accessories provided more than allowed for a successful and safe installation. Wish I had a pix of her SUV loaded with the roof bag on top, the bike on the rear and just enough room for her to slide into the car. But she's already in her new home with a bike rack for future use that loaded so securely that it barely moved when I pulled on it. As an added measure, I did velcro the wheels to the bike frame to immobilize any extraneous movement. This is a quality product that is very reasonably priced. 149784

The product is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone. The one thing that made it a little difficult is my wife's bike does not have a crossbar and that made it very difficult connecting it. With a lot of effort, we were finally able to get it connected, and it was a little tougher on the return trip but it held the bikes in place. I later found out that the company does have an adapter for the type of bike I had problems with. I wish this would have been displayed as a possible alternative, depending on one's bike. 555286

Womens bike frames have a slanted crossbar and in order for the bike to hang level on the bike rack you will need an adapter bar such as part # 64005

. This Swagman deluxe bike frame adapter gives the bike a horizontal crossbar to hang from.

According to Thule their Passage part # TH910XT that you have is confirmed as a fit for your 2009 Subaru Forester that has a spoiler. The top straps would get ran over the spoiler. Most of the weight of the rack is supported by the lower arms of the rack though so not that much weight gets put on the spoiler.

  • Thule Passage vs. Thule Gateway Pro Trunk-Mount Bike Rack for 2011 Subaru Forester
I checked with Thule and verified that both the Thule Passage # TH910XT and Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR will fit your daughter's 2011 Subaru Forester. These are both solid options for a trunk-mounted bike rack but between the two I recommend the Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR. The Gateway Pro has a more robust strap system to anchor the rack than the Passage, has cradles which are more cushioned and conforming to bikes, and has an integrated cable lock to secure the bike to the rack, which...

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack for a 2013 Nissan Juke Hatchback
The Thule Passage 2, part # TH910XT is a confirmed fit and all around good choice for the 2013 Nissan Juke. I can't recommend opening the hatch while the rack is installed as the weight of the rack itself can cause the hatch to close unexpectedly and harm you or the vehicle.

  • Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2015 Subaru Outback with Rear Spoiler at Top of Hatch
The rear hatch and spoiler design on your 2015 Subaru Outback is similar to the one on the XV Crosstrek. I have linked a video showing the Passage # TH910XT on the Crosstrek. It does work but it is not the best option for a vehicle that has that rear spoiler piece like your Outback. I recommend Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2. This rack has an additional upper arm piece that moves the top straps up and over that spoiler so no weight is put on it (since the spoiler is not meant...

  • Options for Carrying Two Bikes With 2014 BMW 550 GT
We have determined that there are some trunk mount racks that are compatible with your vehicle. I'd recommend the Thule Raceway, part # TH9001PRO. The Raceway uses 4 cables to attach to the vehicle, instead of the 6 strap and buckle arrangement used by other racks. The attaching cables are lockable, and the rack features an integrated cable lock to help deter theft. This is without a doubt the easiest to use and most convenient trunk mounted bike rack I've ever used. There is a hitch...

  • Should Rear Liftgate of a 2013 Ford Explorer Open with Trunk Rack Installed
You are not supposed to open rear hatches or lift gates with trunk mounted bike racks installed. The additional weight makes the hatch unpredictable and could cause it to slam down and hurt someone. Plus it can damage the door frame of the vehicle it is installed on. You would need to remove the rack before opening it.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2005 Toyota Prius
I would recommend the Thule Raceway Trunk Mount Bike Carrier, # TH9001PRO, for your 2005 Prius. This is the easiest to mount and remove rack that I have personally used, and it folds compact for storage, see video link. I would normally recommend a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack, but for the Prius a hitch would add weight to the vehicle when not carrying bikes and the vehicle owners manual normally precludes towing as an option with these vehicles. If you will be carrying...

  • Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2003 Honda Accord Sedan
We are at the mercy of what vehicles customers bring to us which is why you do not see pictures or a video of the Thule Passage # TH910XT on a 2003 Honda Accord sedan. We just haven't had one in for test fits. I can tell you though that if stability is the main issue, I do not recommend a trunk mount bike rack. But if you were to use one, the best option is going to be the Raceway, # TH9001PRO. I own this rack myself and it is the most stable of any of the trunk mount bike racks we carry....

  • Will Bikes Make Contact with Each Other When Installed on the Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack
The short answer is that your bikes shouldn't make contact when installed on the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT. This bike rack has preventative measures with the no-sway cage accessories and adjustable cradle positions to help keep that from happening. The Passage also comes with extra straps you can use to tie off your front wheel to keep it in-line with the rest of your bike. I have attached a review video as well as a video of us taking the Passage out on our test course with...

  • Will Thule Passage Bike Carrier Fit A 2015 Ford Focus With Spoiler
The Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount # TH910XT will fit your 2015 Ford Focus with a spoiler unless you have the 3 door hatchback. It is a confirmed fit for the sedan and the 5 door hatchback with a spoiler. The Fit Dial adjustment system ensures a proper fit to your Focus. It has 6 straps for mounting and cushioned anti-sway cradles on the dual support arms. I recommend using the Thule Passive Security Strap for Trunk Mounted Bike Carriers # TH533 to secure your bike carrier...

  • How to Carry Two 54-lb Bulls Electric Bikes on 2016 Chevy Spark
You are correct that for most bike racks such as the Thule Passage # TH910XT a 35-lbs-per-bike weight capacity is fairly common. Some can handle more weight but since you want to load 108-lbs of bikes plus the rack's own weight on your 2016 Spark you will need a hitch receiver and hitch-mounted bike rack. If you were to load two such bikes on a trunk-mount rack you would be talking a total weight of 120-lbs or more. This is simply too much of a load for a car's sheet metal. Instead...

  • Best Type of Bike Rack for 2015 Kia Sorento
We do not carry the Xport products here but we do offer all of the available replacement parts for the bike racks we do sell. These include many prominent brands like Thule, Yakima and Saris. Some types of parts, such as the rubber cradle straps that hold the bike frame tubes in the cradles, can sometimes be interchangeable between brands but this will not usually be the case with other parts. Our main page for bike rack replacement parts is linked for you. A hitch rack is truly the...

  • Can Trunk Mount Bike Racks be Installed, Removed, and Reinstalled As Needed on 2011 Subaru Forester
You assume correctly. You can remove a trunk mount bike rack, such as the Thule Passage # TH910XT, and store it inside the vehicle and then reinstall it later. On a rack like the Passage you will just have to loosen the straps some to remove them from where they are attach to the vehicle. Then you would just place the hooks in the correct places and tighten the straps again to reinstall the rack. However, if your Forester has that top spoiler or trim piece at the top of the hatch then...

  • Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit for 2005 Honda Civic Coupe with Spoiler
If you have a factory spoiler on your 2005 Honda Civic, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Expedition 2 Bike Carrier # HRF6-2. This rack is designed to help accommodate spoilers and the sturdy, anti-sway cradles help prevent bike-to bike and bike-to-vehicle contact. The Expedition will carry 2 bikes and secures to the vehicle with 6 adjustable cam buckle straps. I have attached a review video of this rack for you. The Thule Passage # TH910XT that you referenced will likely contact the...

  • Bike Rack Options for a 2008 Subaru Outback Wagon
According to Thule and Yakima, the 2008 Subaru Outback Wagon is not suitable for use with a trunk mounted bike rack because the rear hatch is not strong enough to carry the weight of the carrier and the bikes. This leaves a roof or hitch mounted system as your remaining options. I would recommend going with the hitch mounted option, which would involve installing a receiver hitch like the Draw-Tite Class II receiver, part # 36334. This hitch will fit your Outback as long as it is not...

  • Comparison Between Thule # TH910XT Passage and # TH9009XT Trunk Mount Bike Racks
There are three upgrades you'll find on the Thule # TH9009XT Archway that you won't find on the # TH910XT Passage. The Archway provides upgraded cradles that are padded a bit heavier for better protection for your bike. The Archway also includes an integrated cable lock and a TrunkLocker strap that you can shut in the hatch that secures the rack to the vehicle. These two features would help deter theft. These features explain the price differential, but it'll be up to you to decide...

  • Comparing the Thule Gateway, Raceway, and Yakima KingJoe for a 2015 Subaru Forester
The Thule Gateway trunk mount bike carrier # TH9007XT is one step up from the Thule entry level carriers. It has more versatility and an easier to use design compared to the Passage, which is the next step down, # TH911XT. But there is no comparison between the Gateway and the Raceway. The Raceway # TH9002PRO is superior in every way and is really in a class by itself. The cradles are a higher quality and have road dampening technology to better protect the bikes. The crack secures to...
