Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Express Bike Rack on Trunk

The Express rack puts the fun in functional by letting you carry up to three bikes on the trunk of your vehicle. So you won't need a hitch or have to lift bikes over your head to load them on a roof rack.

Adjustment Hubs and 6-Strap Attachment System

Express Hubs

Two interlocking hubs with hand knobs ensure a proper fit on your vehicle. Just twist the hand knobs to open the hubs, and unfold the base of the rack. Then place the rack on your trunk and adjust the base's support arms to the desired angle. To secure the base in that position, line up the teeth on each hub and tighten the knobs back down.

Express Straps

Six adjustable straps with rubber-coated metal hooks and cam buckles secure the Express to your vehicle. And four foam pads on the rack's base help protect your car's finish from scratches and abrasions.

Dual Arms with Cradles

Express Arms and Cradles

Dual arms support your bikes and better accommodate women's, children's and alternative frames. Rubber cradles with straps firmly grip your bike's frame. The cradles rotate and slide along the arms, so you can easily adjust them based on the type and number of bikes you're transporting. And you can use the integrated safety strap to help keep your bikes tied down.

Folding Design

Express Folded Up

When it's not in use, the Express can easily be folded flat for storage.

A security strap and a cable lock (sold separately) are recommended to deter theft of the rack and your bikes.

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Express Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2012 Nissan Versa

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2012 Nissan Versa, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Rack, part number HRE3. As you can see, we already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features before we take it off. Each cradle, as you can see, can pivot from side to side and can move back and forth, in order to accommodate to your specific bike frame needs and the spacing on your bikes should you have it fully loaded. The bike itself is secured from two different points of contact. You can see the these rubber straps we have that simply come off and fasten pretty easily around the notch right there, and secures your bike very well.We have a stabilization strap included for when you are carrying a full load. You simply pull it around, wrap it around all three bikes, and fasten it down, in order to keep your bikes compact for travel.

The strap right here is not included with the bike rack itself. We simply have it on there for the reasoning of avoiding contact from the front wheel to the rear of the bike. This does not come with the bike rack, as I said, but you can purchase it at etrailer.com. inaudible 00:01:17.Now that we have gone through those features, we can take the bike off. Simply pull down on the rubber strap, undo it from the notch on both sides, and then you can pull the bike off with ease.

I'm going to take a second and show you guys the measurement. I'm going to show you the distance from the back of the bumper to the outermost part of the bike rack. Adds about 18" onto the back of your vehicle. Now, because these arms do not fold down or adjust at all, you want to keep that in mind for when you're going out on the town, or even parking in your garage. The bike rack itself makes contact with six different parts of the vehicle. You have two rubber coated straps at the top of your vehicle, two more around the tail lights, and then also two more at the bottom of your trunk.

That makes the six different points of contact is a good way to ensure that your bike rack is fully secured to your vehicle. The bike rack also comes with four foam pads in order to help avoid any type of damage to occur on the body of the car itself, or even the back windshield. What Keep in mind when you have the bike rack installed on your vehicle, you will not be able to use your back windshield wiper, as it would make contact with the top of your bike rack frame. The bike rack's adjustable simply by loosening these knobs on both sides of the rack, and then it can fold up or down in order to meet the specific needs of your vehicle, meaning that this bike rack is also accommodating to many types of cars, SUVs, or even minivans. Just be sure to check the fit guide at etrailer.com. Well, there you have it for the test fit of the Hollywood Racks 3 Bike Rack, Express 3 Bike Rack, on our 2012 Nissan Versa..

You answered my question correctly, in that the straps were long enough to reach. However, it's a good thing I got the three-bike rack since due to the shape of my car I can only use the cradles furthest from the car. It works, though. Had a successful test over the weekend. I would rate your customer service, "Excellent". Thanks! 78409

I was wondering if the trunk is still usable while the rack is in place? Especially if there are bikes on it. Would I be able to hold the bikes up or have someone else to pop the trunk and access the inside? My mom said doing this would relieve the tension holding the rack on, but it looks like the straps only hook to the trunk lid itself and not any other part of the car so it seems possible. I was just wondering if I could still open the trunk with 1 or 2 bikes on the rack if I needed access to something in the trunk during a trip. Thanks!

-- comment by: Holly - 05/14/2013

1503

We do not recommend opening the trunk with the bikes still mounted. The trunk lid simply was not designed for it. If the bottom support rests on the bumper, then the bike rack would shift when you open the trunk. If the rack only touches the trunk lid, then you still end up putting more load on the trunk struts and hinges, plus the trunk gets some of its strength from how it fits to the rest of the car. If you need to access the trunk, it is best to remove the bikes.

Can this be used on a Honda CRV 2013 with the hatchback because the picture you provide only shows this being used on a Honda Accord or other small car with a trunk Not a CRV ???

I double checked the Hollywood Racks fit guide and they confirm that it will fit a 2013 CRV.

Will this carrier work for a girls bike? Also, is it as sturdy and easy to use as the Thule Passage 2?

-- comment by: Steve O - 09/07/2013

2036

It will work with a girls bike, but will probably require the use of an adapter bar. Check out part HRBA-PRO. The Passage will be somewhat easier to setup on your car. Thule has numbered fitting system for the Passage. You look up your car in the instructions, find the dial number, and set the Fit Dial on the rack to that number. No more guessing as to how and where the base should sit.

I bought this to haul three adult bikes on vacation. I didn't want to spend several hundred dollars on a rack that would only see occasional use. I was a bit concerned about what quality I was going to get for $70. I opened the box and was happy to see this rack was as good as it was. In ten minutes I had the rack installed and the bikes loaded. Every stop along the way I checked the straps and not once were they loose. I'm very pleased with this rack and would highly recommended it. 416857

We have kept the bike rack on the car all this year. It worked well for us. It fit the odd shape of our Chevy HHR. We had no problems with the rack. It was a little difficult to get the hard rubber latches together, but it became easier as time went on. We carried an adult bike and a child's bike. 588518

1998 Toyota Camry

The product shipped quickly and installed easily on my car, A 98 Toyota Camry. While it is intended to be a three bike carrier, it will only hold two as the first set of bike mounts does not extend past the trunk deck. They could be adjusted outward, but then the spacing would be too close together. I am not particularly bothered as I only need to carry two bikes anyway. I think the three bike rack is still a better purchase because it comes with the extra set of side straps for stabilization. 272391

Bought this rack for my 2006 VW Golf. I couldn't be more pleased with this product and this service. The rack was very affordable even with shipping costs compared to racks that require a hitch. The rack came assembled in the box and the instructions were so easy that I had it on my car in 10 minutes after unboxing. I have used it three times now. It is incredibly easy to put on. It is very secure (i'm using 2 bikes on my rack), and it is very easy to store. I also received a courtesy follow up email with more info on how to use the rack a day after it arrived. 5/5 would buy this rack from etrailer again. 141257

At first I was disappointed because I could not figure out how to get the adapter bar to fit into the rack. Customer service (Dylan) was EXTREMELY helpful and assured me that if it didn't work they would do whatever was necessary to make it right. Well, it turns out it was my fault and once I figured it out it worked GREAT. Super solid rack! I drove 80 miles in the rain the first day I got it and I had NO problems. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good bike rack on a budget. It is solid. More importantly rest assure that you will be treated well by this company and your transaction will be smooth. Thank you! Pictures coming soon. 501014

Product fits as it is supposed to and the service was top notch. 147203

Product is fine, but due to the frame design on my wifes beach bike it mounts with a tire high in te air, which now gts in the way of the two kayaks we bought this winter and have mounted on the roof of the car.

Thanks for the follow up Tom, you might want to consider using an adapter bar like the Hollywood Racks # HRBA-PRO. This will help your wife's bike be carried in a more level position and avoid some of the interference issues you are having.

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Express in Trunk Bike Racks

I wish I would've spend more money on a better bike rack. It's impossible to fit two bikes on this thing. My bike pedals have scratched my car bumper by using this bike rack, and the padded bits on the trunk have left marks as well. Don't waste your money on this bike rack. Save up and get a better quality one. 584368

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Express in Trunk Bike Racks

Received the Hollywood Racks Express 2 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Fixed Arms - HRE2 for my 08 mit eclipse. Took only a couple of days to receive. Like all other reviews takes only 10 minutes to install. Took my first trip with the bike and rack this morning. Bike didn't move at all. Was fasten and secure. Was able to handle all turns and bumps. I was nervous about the rack being exposed as i park in a public place all day. The rack is easy to remove and store into the trunk. And to reassemble just need to reattach the hooks. Easy. The rubber straps that secures the bike were a HASSLE the first time. But after the first use it gets much easier as they loosen up a bit. Now no more removing my bikes front wheel and storing my bike inside my trunk everyday. Great purchase and product 276325

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Express in Trunk Bike Racks

Installation was simple, even easier if you watch the YouTube. Mounted the bike rack on my BMW, which is to say the least ... my baby. Not a scratch or bruise during installation. Mounted two bikes on the rack and drove about 30 miles to our favorite trail. The rack was simple to remove ... took off two bottom trunk straps and put rack in trumk. After ride ... took out rack and placed two straps in lower trunk ... snugged up and took off. The ride and to and from was in traffic and over a bumpy back road ... I kept checking ... bikes never moved. I always used a trailer hitch rack in the past but this lighter weight and compact trunk mount is just as safe and much less of a PITA to get on and off. I would high;y recommend this product. 385978

The instructions weren't clear enough for me because I didn't understand that it has to be at a 90 degree angle, but once I got it together, it fit perfectly on my 2012 Toyota Camry. Very happy with the product! I was worried about finding a bike rack that would fit onto the trunk of a Kia Soul, but this one did the trick. It was very solid and has survived multiple trips across the US (it's traveled over 1,200 miles at a time with no need for adjustments). The only reason that I don't give it a 5-star review is because I can't use my back wind shield wiper while the bike rack is attached (this is only because the shape of the Kia Soul, I'm sure that there would be no issues if I had a car with a normal shape). 639412

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Express in Trunk Bike Racks

Great bike rack that was easy to install and adjust to my 2012 Fiat 500 Pop C. Owing to its price, the bike rack boasts a simple design that functions just as well as any 'fancier' bike rack that may have more bells and/or whistles. It stores easily and I don't fear my bike moving or scratching my hatch-door (or any other part of the vehicle) during transport at all. As always, I wouldn't recommend leaving the bike rack on unattended without a security device installed. The bike rack is foldaway, and easily fits into the trunk space of my car when folded. It's a little cumbersome to readjust the arms for every transport, but I'd rather not give anyone the opportunity to steal or break into my car. Thus, I recommend this to any one who is an occasional bike rider who enjoys the hobby but maybe doesn't see the value in investing tons into transporting their bike(s) around. 636938

I give this rack an excellent rating so far. It was easily installed on my 2013 Malibu following the written directions in the box and the video on the website. I have used it once since receiving it a couple of days ago. My bike was quite steady and secure. It is also easy to remove the rack from my car, and I like that I can open my trunk if need be while the rack is attached. Do you have a question about this Trunk Bike Rack?

  • Economically Priced Trunk Bike Rack that Fits 2014 Toyota Camry
  • While the SportRack 3 bike trunk rack part # SR3152 hasn't been tested on your 2014 Toyota Camry I can't see why it wouldn't fit since the very similar Hollywood Racks Express part # HRE3 does fit easily. See attached picture and install video. The Sportrack should work just fine, but if you wanted a "sure thing" I'd recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Express.

  • Economically Priced Trunk Bike Rack that Fits 2008 Mazda 3 Hatchback

  • Yes, the Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier # HRE3 is a fit for your 2004 Acura MDX. This is a solid and economical choice for a trunk-mounted rack, though if you will be using it one a week I would recommend a rack with anti-sway cradles (which hold the bikes on the rack) instead of standard rubber cradles like the Express has. Anti-sway cradles will ensure your bikes do not make contact with each other or your vehicle and I would not use a rack without them. The Hollywood Racks...

If you happen to have a different vehicle if you can tell me what it is I can determine if there is a 2 inch hitch available for it.

  • Will Hollywood Racks Express Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan
  • The Hollywood Racks Express trunk mount bike rack # HRE3 is listed as a fit for your 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan. It does not have a glass hatch accessory requirement like Yakima trunk mount bike racks. An adapter bar, such as # 64005, is recommended but not required unless the bike has a step-through frame. If the adapter bar is not used the bike will be at an odd angle and can affect ground clearance. However, if your Tiguan has that top spoiler or trim piece at the top of the hatch...

  • Recommended Trunk Mount Bike Rack Options for 2013 Toyota Camry
  • If you click the link I have provided, you can see the trunk mounted bike racks that we offer that are a confirmed fit for a 2013 Camry. I have also linked you to our article about how to choose a trunk mounted bike rack. We do not carry Allen racks like the one you mentioned. The Allen racks have a very attractive price point, but the old saying that says you get what you pay for certainly applies here. Since trunk mounted bike racks are not meant to be left on the vehicle permanently,...

  • Most Economical Option for Carrying 4 Bikes on 2012 Mazda 5
  • The most economical way to carry 4 bikes on a 2012 Mazda 5 is to use a roof rack and a trunk mounted carrier. The 4 bike carrier for a hitch mount will not work as your vehicle only has a Class 1 hitch available and restricts you to 2 bikes. For the roof rack, I recommend the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack - Fixed Mounting # TH7601B-TH7602B and fit kit # THKIT3080 is you have a naked roof with fixed mounting points. If you have a roof without factory side rails. If you have the raised...

  • Bike Carrier for Schwinn Meridian 26-Inch Trike on Honda Ridgeline
  • The 72-lb shipping weight of your Schwinn trike means that the bike itself probably weighs about 65-lbs, which is more than most trunk-mount bike carriers can handle. This makes a hitch and hitch-mount bike carrier the best option for your vehicle. If you don't have a 2-inch hitch on the vehicle already (and if it is a 2014) I suggest Curt hitch # 13385 since this is the lowest-cost option. With this 2-inch Class III hitch installed you can use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider carrier...

  • How to Carry 4 Bikes on a 2011 Toyota Corolla
  • First, you should know that all of the trailer hitches for your 2011 Toyota Corolla are Class I hitches. This means that they can hold up to 2 bikes maximum, even if a bike rack can hold more bikes. So while you can use a Class I compatible bike carrier that holds 4 bikes, you would be limited to 2 bikes. To carry 4 bikes you would have to do a combination of a hitch or trunk mount rack and a roof rack. The least expensive route is to go with a trunk mount and roof rack. The most cost...

  • Bike Carrier for the Back of a Scamp Trailer to Carry a Schwinn Meridian Tricycle
  • There are only certain bike carriers that are rated for use at the back of a trailer. None of the hitch mounted carriers that can be used on the back of a trailer can hold a trike. But there may be a solution that could work for you. If your Scamp trailer has a 4 to 4-1/2 square steel bumper that is welded the entire length of the bumper AND it is rated for weight carrying then your trike might fit on the Swagman bumper mount rack # S80600. This is the best option for the back of the trailer.

  • Most Inexpensive 2 Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Toyota Yaris 5-Door Hatchback
  • We have a few options that I think you will be interested in. The most economical 2 bike rack available for your 2012 Toyota Yaris Hatchback model is the Hollywood Racks Express 2 Bike Rack, # HRE2. It uses rubber straps to hold the bikes and the bike cradles are independently adjustable. The rubber straps will last longer than Velcro-like straps and having independently adjustable cradles allows you to move the bikes farther apart if you need more room between the bikes to keep them from...

  • What is the Difference Between the Hollywood Racks Express 3 and Baja 3 for a 2007 Toyota Camry
  • The Hollywood Racks Baja 3 # HRB3 has more to offer than the Hollywood Racks Express 3 # HRE3 which is why there is a price difference. The differences are that the Baja has anti-sway cradles to help prevent bike-to-bike contact, the Express does not. The Baja will fit more factory spoilers while the Express cannot fit any spoilers. The Baja has red safety reflector on the arms and the Express does not. Also the Baja arms have a distance of 12-1/2 inches between them as opposed to the...

  • Inexpensive Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 2010 Honda Civic Sedan with Rear Spoiler
  • For a relatively inexpensive trunk mount bike rack that will work well with the spoiler on your 2010 Honda Civic sedan I recommend the Hollywood Racks Expedition, # HRF6-2. This rack has a long reach to go over the spoiler. It holds 2 bikes, and includes anti-sway cradles. I have included a link to a video review of this rack to the right. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using...

  • Vehicles like your 2008 Scion tC that have a rear spoiler can pose a challenge to the fit of many trunk-mount bike carriers, but there are specialized models designed to deal with this feature. I recommend the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 3 Bike Carrier # HRF2-3, This rack is made specifically for cars with rear spoilers. • Bike Rack Recommendation for 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible
  • The trunk-mount rack I suggest for your 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible is the Hollywood Racks Expedition 2 # HRF6-2. This rack's design allows it to clear your trunk-mounted antenna. Another lightweight option at an even lower price point is their 2-bike Express rack # HRE2. • There are no dual receivers for 1-1/4 inch hitches but I do have a solution for you that could work. • Trunk-Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for 2002 Toyota Celica with Large Spoiler

However, the very large and tall trunk-mount spoiler on your 2002 Celica does pose an unusual challenge to the fit of a trunk-mount bike rack, even the HRF6-3. Also, since your vehicle has a soft rear bumper you will want to keep in mind that the carrier and bikes together may weigh more than the bumper capacity.
