This 2-bike trunk rack fits over most factory spoilers and mounts easily with the patented FitDial system. Independently adjustable arms have Hold Fast anti-sway cradles with RDT for safe, stable bike transport. Built-in cable lock deters theft.
Features:
Specs:
Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.
The Thule Archway XT is a premium 2-bike trunk rack with long, arcing body tubes designed to clear most factory spoilers. Hold Fast cradles with road dampening technology (RDT) offer extra protection against road shock and vibrations and are suitable for carbon fiber frames. A built-in One-Key System cable lock and TrunkLocker passive security strap help protect your bikes and rack. The patented FitDial mounting system offers quick and easy setup on most Chevrolet Malibus, and independently adjustable dual arms let you transport a wide variety of bike sizes and frame styles.
The patented FitDial system lets you easily adjust the rack body to fit the shape of your trunk. The long, arcing body tubes are designed to fit easily over most factory spoilers, so setup is a snap. Simply press the Quick-Fit levers and rotate the base until the centers of the levers line up with the correct numbers on the dials. These numbers are specified in the instructions included with the rack. Just find your Chevrolet Malibu, identify the correct number, and dial it up.
While the FitDial system ensures that the body of the rack is correctly seated on your Chevrolet Malibu, it is the 6 nylon straps that keep the rack anchored in place. The steel hooks on these extra-long straps are nylon coated to prevent scratches on your Chevrolet Malibu, and the straps tighten in place with easy-to-use, backpack-style cinches.
Holders with hook-and-loop tabs (similar to Velcro) are included to bind up the excess strap length when the rack is mounted.
Oversized foam pads on the Archway XT's upper and lower bases grip your trunk or rear hatch to keep the rack firmly in place during transport. The pads are designed to provide friction without leaving scratches and scuff marks on your Chevrolet Malibu.
The Archway XT includes premium Hold Fast anti-sway cradles with road dampening technology (RDT), designed for use with carbon fiber bike frames. RDT is composed of 2 layers. The inner layers of the cradles are made of soft fingers that flex to absorb large shocks and jolts from the road. The second, upper layer is composed of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), a durable, gel-like material with enough flex and grip to absorb road shock and reduce vibration for a smoother ride. The cradles include No-Sway cages that provide a third contact point for the bike, preventing sway and bike-to-bike contact. The cages also have TPE bumper strips that protect your bike frames from scratches.
The Archway XT has narrowly spaced arms that make loading and unloading bikes hassle-free. These arms adjust independently of the base and each other with built-in Cinch-Levers. Just flip the lever up, rotate the arm to the desired position, then flip the lever down to lock the arm in place. This enables you to carry bikes with unique frames, and it helps to keep your bikes level on the rack.
The Cinch-Levers also allow you to fold down the arms when the rack is not in use and to fold the rack flat for convenient storage.
The Archway XT includes an integrated cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. The cable includes a One-Key System lock cylinder that can be swapped out if you own other Thule products and want to use the same key to lock them all.
A TrunkLocker trunk strap is also included for passive security. This steel-reinforced cable wraps around the rack and the anchor stores inside the trunk, securing the rack to your Chevrolet Malibu when the trunk lid is closed and locked.

Today well be reviewing the Thule Archway 2 Bike Carrier with adjustable arms trunk mount bike rack, part number TH9009XT. Now the Archway is a trunk-mounted carrier which will transport up to two bikes. It has large arcing body tubes that are designed specifically to fit vehicles with factory spoilers. Now before we put our bike rack on the vehicle, its a good idea to go ahead and clean the surface of the vehicle where the bike rack will be mounted. This will help to prevent any damage to the painted surfaces that the bike rack sits on. Now weve already gone ahead and set up our bike rack to fit this particular vehicle.
Within the instructions for the Archway, you will find a fit guide. The fit guide indicates what setting youll put your bike rack in using the notches here on the side. This allows the arms to fold in and out depending on the vehicle. The bike rack has four rubber isolators that will protect the painted surfaces. Well place the bike rack on top of our rear deck lid, and well take the two top straps and hook them to the deck lid just behind the rear window.
With them hooked into place, well just kind of snug the straps down to help us hold the bike rack while we install the other straps. Now with the two top straps in, well move over here to our side and bottom straps. Now this is one strap, one side will connect to the side here by the taillight and the other side will connect to the bottom of the deck lid just above the rear bumper cover. Well then pull that snug and move over to the other side and repeat the same process. Now that we have all six attachment points in place, we can go ahead and tighten the straps down, securing the bike to the vehicle.
Now the black cable coming with the Archway is a security cable. This is a security nylon-coated cable. Well use it to hook around the Archway, or well take the other end and allow it to fall into the trunk here between the rear window and the deck lid. This gives a little added security holding the bike rack to the vehicle. Now with our bike rack secured to the vehicle, were ready to bring out the dual arms.
Each of the arms does move independently. Well just need to release the tension on this knob, where we can then unscrew it, and bring out the arm that holds the cradles. Once weve found a suitable location, well then tighten down the gray knob and latch it over, pulling the tension and securing the arm out. Well need to do this on both sides, making sure that both arms are parallel to each other. With both arms out, we can now go ahead and show you the cradles. They have two layers of cushioning to absorb road shock and minimize vibration. The anti-sway cradle here does have bumpers which will hold the bike here at the down tube to prevent sway and bike-to-bike contact. The reinforced cradle straps provide maximum strength and durability. Youll notice the cradles also twist back and forth on the arm as well as move forward and backward. Well now go ahead and undo our straps, put the bike into the cradles, and bring the straps around, securing the bike to the bike rack. Now its always a good idea to transport your bikes using the cradles closest to the vehicle and then working your way out. Now for demonstration purposes, well be loading our bike on the outermost cradles. With our bike secure, well now take the blue strap included with the bike rack and use it to further secure the bike to the bike rack. You can use it in various different ways, holding the wheels and tire as well as holding the bike to the bike rack. Now another feature of the Archway is its ability to lock a bike to the bike rack. It uses a cable lock found here in one of the arms. Well take the included lock core, and using the master key well slide it into the lock core where we can then slide it into the opening here in the arm, hold onto the lock core, and remove the master key. Well now use one of the two regular keys that come included to lock and unlock the lock, because thats what locks do. Well now bring the cable out of the arm, wrap it around the tube of our bike, place it back in the slot here where the lock core is, and using the key well lock it in place. Now our bike is locked to the bike rack, and included with the bike rack are these hook-and-loop straps. These can be used as well to help secure the excess nylon strap in place, giving you a nice clean look while youre driving down the road. Now with the bike loaded, well go ahead and take the Archway out on the road and see how it performs. That completes our demonstration of the Thule Archway 2 Bike Carrier, part number TH9009XT.

This is a great rack! Not perfect, but it is great. Once I figured out the configuration for my 2014 Toyota Camry, it went on quickly and held my Giant Liv Avail 2 road bike perfectly. Not much wiggle in the bike at all; the small adjustable stability arm/clamp does a great job at minimizing any sway of the bike while driving. The rack itself is light and easy to take on and off. I am leaving the rack on the car currently, as I am in the military and transport my bike back and forth to work and ride during my lunch for afternoon cardio. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the arms that actually hold the bike, fold down when the bike isn't being carried. Although this is a great feature, getting the arms to actually fold and come back up can be a bit of a pain since you have to line up the teeth perfectly. It takes a little wiggle and jiggle to get them seated properly. If this were a little smoother, it would definitely be a 5 star rack. Maybe this will become a little smoother after a little more breaking in. I have only had it 4 days and only driven around town. I will be taking it on a 7 hour road trip in about 6 weeks and will update my review then. etrailer was awesome to do business with and the shipping was ridiculously fast! Extremely impressed with the customer service. Definitely a FIVE STAR COMPANY from my experience. Will absolutely do business with etrailer in the future. 180656

The Thule Archway XT 2-Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Th9009XT arrived within a couple days of ordering and was very pleased with this excellent service. Assembly of the Thule TH9009XT to my 1995 SaturnSL2 sedan went well; rear holding brackets had to be bent some to fit into convenient slots at rear bottom of trunk (note: they could not be fastened to the bumper bottom as bumper was too pliable and there was no metal behind it). Also, perhaps if metal sleeves were around the threaded bolt of the Patented FitDial system with Quick-Fit levers it would be easier to slide the locking mechanism back and forth for raising and lowering the rack bike mounting bars. All in all I am very happy with the final results and the color even matched my car :o) I rate the service and the bike rack at 5 stars. 229294

The Thule bike rack that I received it from etrailer appeared to be oxidized on the aluminum parts of the unit. When I went to tighten one of the hatch straps, the locking mechanism broke. It seemed like it was made of a poor quality "pot metal". I called Thule directly and spoke with a customer service rep. Without so much as another word he told me that he would send out a replacement unit. I received the replacement unit within 5 days. It is unwieldy to install (and for that matter, keep in place) on my 2017 Volvo XC60 and seems to come lose before too many curves and bumps in the road are passed. It may by my vehicle, but I would not trust this rack for any long distance driving/bike hauling, unless you like constantly looking in your rearview mirror to ensure that your bikes are secure! For short trips its probably OK but it is time consuming to install....so I just take my gas guzzling Suburban with its receiver hitch bike rack, bite the gas fillup bullet, and enjoy a day or hour or two of bicycling! I would not purchase this bike rack again. 439690

This item arrived just in time. My husband, a courier, got a flat back tire in pouring rain and had to lock up and leave his bike far from help. We attached the Thule Archway XT onto our little Toyota Prius C, picked up the bike, got it to a shop, and had him back on the job in a matter of an hour! This item was a lifesaver! Considering I have never driven with anything attached to the back of any car, and the whole idea of it made me extremely nervous, this item's sturdiness and simplicity has allayed all my fears. And thanks, etrailer.com, for the great how-to-attach video - the paper instructions weren't all that clear, so the video was a godsend! 202197

I am very pleased with my Thule Archway XT 2-Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms. The directions were pretty easy to follow and I was able to mount it on my 2016 Kia Sportage by myself no problem!! I loaded my big beach cruiser and drove from Phoenix to San Diego and then LA and back to Phoenix with no issues. Works Great! 285543

Opted for this model because the swing-away mechanism seemed the most practical. Have found it quite easy to use and very sturdy. The rubber straps were stiff and a bit unyielding at first but have softened up a bit and with a strong steady pull I can fasten them tightly around my bike frame. Four bikes fit ok on this one but it's tricky getting them arranged so their pedals and handlebars don't get in each other's way. We usually carry two bikes so place them with a space between them. All in all it was a good investment. 271156
Thanks for checking back. The rack works great for us, though sometimes wehave to do some wriggling around of the bikes to get them to fit togetherwithout potential damage from bike parts pedals, brake handles, etc.jammed into each other. One of the rubber straps broke when my son wasstretching it for a tight fit. I assume we can get extras. Im glad weopted for the slightly pricier swing-away model - so easy to use even whenloaded with bikes. We are considering the hitch lock now, as we do worryabout it being stolen from the vehicle, since we leave the rack on the carfrom spring-fall. Will want to see if we can get a cylinder that matchesthe integral lock on the rack.

My vehicle is a 2006 Convertible Toyota Solara. This is my first bike rack, but the instructions were fairly clear. The rack was sturdy when secured and the bike did not move much, not even when placed furthest from the vehicle. The lock only reaches the bike furthest from the vehicle and I found that odd. Since I'll be using it for a single bike, it won't make a difference for me. I was worried the rack my scratch the paint on my vehicle or dent the trunk, but neither occurred. Very pleased with this purchase. 189782

Service from your company was great. The product works but for my model vehicle the driver does have to pay attention to the straps when in motion. The straps will loosen due to the weight of the bicycles. I had 2 bicycles on the rack and I would stop every 10 miles to check. I used to bungee cords to supplement the straps by hooking the rack with the cords to the roof rack. It helped but the best rack Ive used is s a trailer rack. Thank you for the follow up. 473654

I can only review my ordering experience, since this bike rack is a Christmas present and is still in the box. After reviewing all the different types of racks, made by various manufacturers I chose what I hope will be an excellent selection. Ordering was easy and the shipment arrived quickly. I will first look at etrailer.com when buying something for my automobiles. Great company!! 163988

I am not happy with my bike rack. It was difficult for me to put on, and even more difficult to take off and put back on when I had to wash my car. One of the handles on the rack was very hard to lock in place. I have an EX35 and I find it easier to put the back seats down and slide the bike in. I purchased the rack with the lock which can easily be cut with a wire cutter. 261113

I was finally able to use the bike carrier. Is was fairly early to put on the vehicle. It's so much easier, than loading the bike into the trunk. The customer service is also excellent. I was notified when the product was shipped, and I also received a phone call and email, after my package arrived to make sure that there were no issues with the product. 453281

So...the product was as advertised, works just fine. Can be a bit of a handful to install. What is exceptional is the etrailer service. They did a great job of keeping me informed of the shipment status by phone and email (there was a delay at the manufacturer) and followed up after a year to see how things are going. Customer service is outstanding. 254284

This product is great!! It holds the bikes securely and moves with the car. Even after a few hours on the road it did not loosen or change with the way I installed it! It is light weight and easy to manuver and yet supports the bike completely. The videos were good to review before the first time to install it. I'm very happy with this carrier. 50527
by: Tony L.06/05/2016
This rack was very easy to install. The only glitch was inserting the side clips, my trunk lid has a tight space for the clips to fit. I finally figured out to insert the clip at the top corners of the trunk and slide it down to position. Once I got that worked out snugging the straps completed the install, still very easy. 257455

Will this bike rack fit my 2000 Maxima SE? Also looking for ease of installation and it needs to accommodate a womens comfort bike
-- comment by: Mickey - 03/25/2014Thule does list the Archway, part # TH9009XT as a fit for your 2000 Nissan Maxima. To fit a womens bike properly, you will most likely need an adapter to hold it level. Check out part # TH982XT
Thule Bike Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes
$49.95 for the adapter bar.
Hiwill this rack work on a 2013 Mazda CX5???
-- comment by: jim f - 08/09/2014Yes the Thule Gateway is confirmed as a fit for your 13 CX5. If you will be transporting bikes that do not have a traditional horizontal cross tube you may consider an adapter bar like the # TH982XT
Thule Bike Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes
$49.95.

Product does not firmly connect to car, loosened up over 6 hrs of driving on windy roads. Straps stretch and bicycle moves from position and slides off. Gave this bike rack to my son and bought a Saris tray model that attaches to a trailer hitch. Really like this new rack. 247016

The bike rack arrived super quick and in great condition. I already put it on my car and can't wait to take my bike out. The manual it came with said what number the dial settings should be on which helped a lot. I love that the arms fold down when it's not in use! 377206

I have only tried it out to see how easy it was to put on the car and to put the bikes on. Easy to put on and same for putting bikes on it. Drove just a little ways to see how the car handled with the bikes on and it worked great. Iwould definitely recommend it. 247399

After I bought the product, It took longer than I expected to set it up. I have a women Mountain Bike and I think this particular product was not designed well for that. It didn't fit in properly. However, I decided to keep the product since I needed it. 189962
Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. This carrier was designed with independently adjustable arms to better accommodate womens frames. We do also offer the 982XT Frame Adapter to make mounting of womens bikes easier to the rear mounted carriers. Thanks again!
Michael L fromThanks for the reply Michael. Mariam the part that he is referring to is our part # TH982XT, and is linked for your reference.

Review from a similar Thule Archway in Trunk Bike Racks
Had an excellent first time experience w/ this eTrailer purchase. Will be going back for any and all needs in the future. They fielded questions about the product operation prior to purchase to insure the correct models were chosen. Free delivery, parts arrived on-time and follow up contact was made looking for ways to improve which I personally don't see any. Everything met my highest expectations and that's why the eTrailer experience is getting the highest rating possible. Try them out, you won't be dissapointed and with the customer care demonstrated, even if something would go wrong, I'm feel very comfortable that the eTrailer folks will work hard to make it right. Thanks CS, George J for a truely wonderful on-line purchase and carrying such great brand name and new name products like the Swagman frame support which when installed levels a woman's bike during transit on a bicycle rack. The Thule Archway model 9010XT was a breeze to put together, had excellent diagrams on the instructions, am looking forward to using this replacement over my current bike rack. The extra rubber bike supports will protect the bikes far better than my older rack and won't scratch the finish on my wife's pink "Nadine" bike. Thanks again. 177376
Thanks for checking in. Used this bike rack on two different cars that we own and the changeover was easy. Thanks again.

Review from a similar Thule Archway in Trunk Bike Racks
The product was good, but it was very difficult to keep tight and to tighten sufficiently to the car. It was constantly slipping when we had the bikes on it. I retrofit a ratcheting tie down ratchet onto one of the side straps, and I pull the two side tightening straps together with the ratchet. With the ratchet in place it does not come loose. Thule needs to incorporate something like this into the design unless they want bikes all over the highways of the world. With the retrofit the rack is great, but we have had one of the Thule black rubber bike tiedowns break, so I will be looking to make that better too. 271727

Review from a similar Thule Archway in Trunk Bike Racks
Works as expected. Took a while to figure out the straps to secure it to the back of the car. The clips have scratched the car though--could be because the roads are always in need of repair and the rack bounces around as I am driving. The only thing I am not happy with is the black straps that wrap around the bike to secure it to the rack have already ripped. One I can't use at all and the two others are starting to go. For the number of times (which isn't many) I have used this bike rack that is very disappointing. Now to find replacement straps... 287711

As my biking habits are largely connected to mild weather, I didn't feel the need for a permanent rack, so I began looking for removable ones. Etrailer's option for my Routan has been WONDERFUL! I feel confident in its construction, but it's not so heavy that I need help getting it on and off the van. Thank you for such a great product! 287001

I finally put the bike carrier to use today. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person so it took me a bit of time with some of the instructions, but once I put the bike on the carrier my one mistake was apparent and everything else was fine. The carrier does a great job of keeping the bike steady and secure. Good product. 89608

Nice bike rack. Easy to install. However, as a first time buyer, I had no clue I needed to purchase adapters to be able to load on female bikes. I guess I won't be using my new bike rack any time soon. I would have purchased them with the bike had I know this. 201461
