Video Transcript for Review of the Carr Hide Away Step for Work Trucks

Today we're going to take a look at the Carr Galvanized Grated Steel Platform Step for service trucks. 31 inches long and a 500 pound weight capacity. Now, this step is designed to mount to the underside of your frame of your service truck and it will help to easily get to your cargo area in your truck. It is a hideaway design. The step will slide beneath the truck when it's not in use and it'll slide open to be able to access the truck.It's a easy, hands-free operation to release the step. You just push in on the step with your foot, it'll unlatch and extend out.

To stow it, just push it back in, the step will lock into place. Just to demonstrate that, again this is going to be, of course, when it's on your truck it'll be a lot lower and you can use your foot to do it all. So I'm just going to demonstrate right here that if you push in with your foot, it'll release it, and you can see it slides the step right out. Has a nice heavy duty hydraulic cylinder right here in the middle that will extend it out for you. You can step on it and gain access to whatever you need.Then, when you're done, again it'll be lower, you just use your foot.

You can push the step all the way in and when you get it in far enough, it'll lock it into place out of the way. It is a nice, large, sturdy platform. It is big enough to stand on with both feet. If you notice, the stuff on the top here is a nice, non-skid, galvanized step surface. Resists corrosion, provides sure footing.

The grated surface lets the dirt and the water drain through, preventing any grim buildup on this step, and it's a durable steel construction, has a nice galvanized finish to help resist corrosion.To install this, it's a simple bolt on installation. The unit comes out of the box like this, all fully assembled. Gives you the two support straps that are used to install it onto your truck frame, and it even comes with the mounting hardware. This part is made in the USA. Give you a few dimensions on this.

On just the step itself, the width on it is going to be right at 30 3/8 inches wide. The depth on just the step is going to be 11 3/4 inches deep.Now, I do want to give you dimensions on this box that'll go onto your truck frame. The width on it, including the edges here, the mounting edges, it's going to be right at 36 1/2 inches wide. The depth of it, with the step slid in the stored position, it's going to be right at 27 inches deep. The overall height on this is going to be right at 3 1/2 inches tall, and I do want to extend this out and give you a measurement of the depth of it with the step extended out.So again, we'll release it all the way out and then measure the depth from the back to the front of the step is going to be right at 40 3/4 inches deep and as we mentioned, the weight capacity on the step is 500 pounds.
