Video Transcript for Review of Carr Truck Bed Step - Step for Work Trucks Side Mount - CAR33XR

Hi everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking together at our car hideaway step for work trucks. Now this is considered a side mount application and it's galvanized steel. So side mount means it's gonna be on the side of the vehicle, the work truck or whatnot. It can handle heavy loads for those work trucks and also utility vehicles alike.

So it does feature a 36 inch wide, very spacious non-slip surface to fit both your feet for stability and everything. So I do wanna start off with noting that this step only is gonna work on flat areas with a minimum size of 42 inches wide overall by 17 inches long or deep. So make sure you've got that footprint before you make your purchase to make sure this will work for you. Now that being said, again, this will stow away and lock in place much like you see it here. That way you're not gonna have to worry about it be in the way and stuff.

So keep in mind this is gonna be bolted in place, so I am gonna deal with this as best I can. Basically, you would most likely use your foot and push on this. It is a spring loaded setup, so I'm gonna hold the back and push it with my hand. It does take a little bit of pressure, but as you can see, it just pops out. It has a gas strut in here.

Lemme zoom in and show you that real quick. So you've got a gas strut in here, and then you've also got this little arm mechanism, and that's what's locking in underneath this plate. It's locking in whenever it's closed, and then when you push it again, it rotates a little bit to unlock and let the step come out under the pressure of the gas piston there. So whenever you're done, you've done your thing and you're ready to get back up in the vehicle, the truck or whatnot, you just simply push again with your foot and as you heard it click, it'll lock in place. How cool is that, right So very simple design, very neat.

The top of the foot plate here, the step is a nice tread. So your work boots, your shoes, whatnot. You're gonna be able to scrape off mud, dirt, debris, and it is hollow. So it's gonna go right through there if you need it to. Making it easy to clean. I would recommend probably hosing it off for once in a while if you do end up getting lots of thick mud on there. I know I used to do construction on some of those job sites, as you guys probably know that you get a lot of thick clay mud wherever you're at, snow, ice, those kind of things. So just spray it off. It's easy to clean whenever you need to. Other than that, very nice. Again, easy installation. It can hold an impressive 500 pounds capacity, so it's gonna hold me and a friend, right So very nice step. Again, I'm really impressed with this, a simple design, simple install. I love the fact that you can simply push it with your foot to take it in and out as needed. And again, it's corrosion resistant since it's made of galvanized steel.
