Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Bestop TrekStep Passenger Side, Side-Mounted Aluminum Truck Step. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2014 and newer Dodge RAM, and RAM 2500, and 3500 trucks. And it also fits the 2019 and newer RAM 1500 trucks. Now this is a nice spring-loaded side step for your truck bed, that'll quickly extend and retract with just the push of your foot.
This will let you easily access tool boxes, ladder racks, and gear in the front of your vehicle bed. And then when you're done using it, you just push it up, and it'll conveniently store beneath the truck when it's not in use. It is a nice, rugged stepping platform. It is constructed of a non-skid, extruded aluminum, has a nice corrosion resistant black powder coat finish to it. And it does use the aluminum alloy linkages to control movement and resist corrosion.
The mounts they use are high strength steel mounts to ensure durability. And it is a very simple installation. Comes with all the included hardware you need. There's no drilling required. These parts will bolt directly to your truck's frame.
And as we mentioned, this step is designed to mount in front of your rear wheel on the passenger side. Again, you can see it extends like this, and then when you push it up with your foot, it'll contract and store beneath your truck bed. And then you just put your foot on it, push it down and it'll extend it out. Weight capacity on this step is 400 pounds. I do wanna give you dimension of just the step itself.
The width of it, it's gonna be right at about 11 1/2 inches. And the depth of it is right about 6 1/2 inches. Does have a nice non-skid top on it you can see here. And again, when you're not using it, just push it in. It will conveniently store underneath the truck. But that should do it for the review on this Bestop TrekStep Passenger Side, Side-Mounted Aluminum Truck Step..

I’ve had this step for over a year and it has worked great. It still works as it did the first day I put it on. It looks like new too. It was easy to install. If you don't have a step assist to get into the bed of your truck this will do the trick. Well worth the money.

Great product quality worth the price. But installation is somewhat difficult for 1 person to do while laying out in the driveway. Not everyone has access to a lift. Took some doing but it's finally installed & in use.

Purchased the Trek Step for my 2018 Ram 2500 Mega Cab. It took my about fifteen minutes to install the step following the instruction provided. All mounting parts were included and only needed a few common tools. The step extends and retracts easily and feels secure while stepping up and descending the truck bed. The step is made of aluminum and feels to be made strong. Recommended if you need a little help stepping into your high truck bed.

Purchased as "used" or "damaged" from etrailer for a significantly discounted price. Arrived in good condition, other than some wear and tear on the box, everything else looked like new and was complete. Installation was relatively simple, 30 - 45 minutes including several adjustment increments. Overall I am well pleased with this step, it certainly makes getting into the bed of my RAM 2500 much easier! I have made quite a few purchases from etrailer over the last several years and find their product choices, website, technical information, shipping, and customer service to be truly superior.

This is a quality product. It is solidly manufactured and functions exactly as it should. Install was fairly easy except for one minor flaw which is the reason I only gave four stars. I can now get into the bed of my truck with the flick of a foot instead of jumping on the tailgate and rolling in. The kit comes with spacers to allow you to adjust how far you want the step from the bumper. The problem is if you don’t want to use the spacers the cap screw threads are too short and the screw will not seat. This is a problem that hasn’t been addressed as I read other reviews that mentioned it and my truck is a 2018. I solved the issue by using one of the spacers and adding an extra washer which allowed the screw to be tightened.

The TrekStep is well made and works great. It was purchased to make getting in/out of the bed with the tailgate down easier and safer. I only gave it 4 stars because of some unnecessary difficulty installing the it.
The provided M6-1.0 x 75 mm Socket Cap Screw is only partially threaded. As a result, unless one or both of the 1/4" Spacers are used, the Cap Screw will not seat against the Mounting Bracket as indicated in step 3 of the installation instructions (see attached photo).
I wanted the step to be as close as possible to the bumper in the retracted position so I had to install the Spacers on top of the Mounting Bracket instead of between the Mounting Bracket and Linkage Assembly as indicated in step 7 of the installation instructions.
If the Cap Screw had been threaded like the Hex Head Bolts, I would not have had to use the Spacers like I did to make it fit.

Trekstep came quickly and was easy to install! Works great, I bought one for a friend too!

Installed on a 2014 GMC 1500 Sierra w/o the step bumper. Installation was longer than the instructions indicted, but that was due to the manufacturer's bolts. The bolts for installing on the frame should be 1/4' long due to the design of the step. It was tough getting the nuts threaded. Would be better if the bolts were the same as OEM bumper fasteners. Other than that installation was easy.

Step works as advertised and I am pleased with it so far, but I will have to wait and see our it weathers a Canadian winter in Manitoba. (Road salt, slush, snow, sand, etc....)

Even though this order was very delayed, customer service kept us updated. This product was fairly easy to install and very helpful when hitching to your RV.

Great product! I call it my "old man step". When the tailgate is down on my Tundra, it was difficult to climb in and out of the bed. This step did the trick. It took me about an hour to install. It looks good and folds away neatly.

Literature says 4 hours and difficult install but that is not correct. I got steps for both sides and the install was on your back but easy especially with a head lamp. I did not need the shims for my Ram 1500 as the steps retracted nicely just under the bumper.

This was not an easy install on my 2020 F350 SuperDuty because the attachment point was not properly identified in the instructions. I made it work, but I don't think it is as sturdy as it should be.

Bought this as a step for my 2018 Ram 2500. The bed of this truck is higher off the ground than I remember my F250 being. You can climb into it (not a pretty sight), but this step makes it way easier for me (and everyone else) to get in with ease. I'm one year in and it seems to be working as well as it did the first day. No rust or change in the spring action of the step.

The Bestop Trekstep was easy install. I'm 65 and did it in half an hour. The step easily flips down and back up with my foot and cuts the stretch up to the tailgate in half. Very solid feel to it. No flex I can detect at all. Very substantial fastening system to the truck.
Review from a similar TrekStep in Truck Bed Step
This was not an easy install and the step is not secured as sturdy as it should be. I am careful not to put too much weight on it. The attachment points on my 2020 F350 were difficult to locate and I had to get customer service to help. It's working but I am careful not to put too much weight on it.

The box came without damage and the product was simple to install once I collected the right tools. I've only had it on my truck for a couple of hours but so far it has met all expectations and helps my wife and I get into my elevated 4x4 bed.

Mine is a 2012 Tundra so I had to skip several steps. The rest only took 30 minutes or so to complete. Works as advertised and no problem with my 250 lbs.

The step works as advertised. The mounting bolts are a easy to remove but you have to reinstall them on a blind.

I should've probably given five stars. My only complaint is its not completely ridged when you stand on it, but I am very pleased and will purchase again.

The step works well but collects dirt from the real wheel. It is rather expensive

This is my second truck with this step installed in the back. They have been very helpful with getting into the bed of the truck. I have had many people come up to me with the first truck and ask about them. I installed the step the day it was delivered.
Review from a similar TrekStep in Truck Bed Step
I used to keep a very short step ladder in the bed of my truck so it wouldn't be so hard on me to climb into the bed.
That wasn't always so easy to do as it wasn't always within reach.
With this step, it's always ready and waiting. It tucks under the bumper and you hardly know it's even there!!!
I love it, it operates hands free too! Yee Hah!
The only problem I see with it is you have to push it down on only the right hand side of the step pad, otherwise it won't come down. The other problem is you have to use the very tip of your shoe to get enough bite on it to get it to swing down, that is no problem for me, but if a person and heavy boots on, might not be able to get down with your toe.
But all in all, I still love this!

Product is great!
Instructions were precise but I chose to not follow them as directed. I modified the bumper bracket & reinstalled it to maintain maximum strength. It would have been better if they had given the customer the option of modifying the bracket instead of “storing it for future use.” By modifying the bracket in place, several steps could be eliminated and the customer would maintain a stronger bumper.
Also, I was disappointed the etrailer did not let me know that product was not in stock before ordering. The process did keep me informed when item was expected, when it was shipped and delivered.
Thank you for a great product.
