2017 Jeep Patriot - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class II - Efficient

  • Plate-Fin Cooler
  • Small SUV
  • 11W x 5-3/4T x 7/8D Inch
  • With 11/32 Inch Hose Barb Inlets
  • Derale
  • Standard Mount

11" Wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. Specifically designed for Jeep Patriots with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions.

Features:

  • Prolongs life of transmission
  • Improves overall performance
  • Prevents heat-related failures
  • Has furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 3/4" wide turbulator plates for more efficient cooling
  • Includes complete mounting kit, OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps and Insta-dapt radiator adapter
  • Recommended for small to mid-size trucks and SUVs

Specs:

  • Inlets: 11/32" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 11" wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep
  • Distance between inlets: 10-1/4"
  • Mounting dimensions: 4-1/2" tall by either 5-1/2" wide or 6-3/4" wide
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation and Installation Instructions for a 2007 Jeep JK 3.8 Liter
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13501, is a Class II efficient transmission cooler and would definitely help the transmission on your JK, but since you are towing 2,000 pounds I would recommend a bit larger Class III cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13503. You cannot cool transmission fluid too much, so the Class III cooler will provide better cooling when towing and will be good for the transmission around...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1997 Honda CRV with Best Cooling and Ease of Installation
I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13502, for your 1997 Honda CRV. This cooler will be more than adequate for towing the weights you will be towing. You can not cool transmission fluid too much so the larger the cooler is, the better. We have a video installation of this cooler on a 2006 Honda CR-V that will be very similar to the installation on your 1997 model, see link. If you would like a smaller cooler you could go with the Derale Series...

  • Weight Capacity of Timbren Suspension Enhancement # TGMRAZT on 2006 Buick Rendezvous
The 3000 lb rating for the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System refers to any load carried in the cargo area of the vehicle and applied to the rear axle, not the towing capacity. The only effect that towing would have on the Timbren system would be any tongue weight exerted on the vehicle by the trailer. The tongue weight (or downward force exerted on the trailer ball) would typically be 10 to 15 percent of the weight of the trailer plus the weight of anything loaded on it. If you are...

  • Best Transmission Cooler for a 2021 Toyota 4Runner
The best transmission cooler for your 2021 Toyota 4Runner is going to be the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient item # D13503. The radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. Bigger is always better when it comes to transmission coolers. The Derale measures 11" wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. The transmission coolers are pretty...

  • Which Transmission Cooler is Recommended for a Nissan Frontier with 6,500 Pound Towing Capacity
The best way to decide which class cooler you need is to take a look at what you will be towing and where. If you will be towing a light load, less than 2,000 pounds, in flat driving conditions, your vehicle will do fine with a Class I. If you will be towing 6,000 pound load through some hills, I would use the Class III cooler. I prefer the 8000 and 9000 series. They are built a little heavier and are more resilient. The 7000 series are built a little lighter and can be damaged more easily...

  • Can I Increase The Tow Rating Of My 2018 Chrysler Pacifica With Aftermarket Items
Your tow rating is your tow rating. You cannot increase it. When you are towing a trailer you are limited to the lowest maximum weight capacity of the system. In this case it does not matter if you add a trailer hitch with a maximum weight limit greater than 1,500 lbs. Since the tow rating of your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is 1,500 lbs, this is the weight limit you must adhere to. I recommend looking for a light trailer unless you really need the trailer. In that case, you will need a different...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation For 2017 Kia Sorento
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2017 Kia Sorento, due to its efficiency, is an 8000 Series from Derale: - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13501 This is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. Because you cannot over-cool fluids, the rule of thumb with transmission coolers is that size matters so the large 11" wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep Series 8000...

  • How Much Transmission Fluid Should Be Added When Installing Transmission Cooler
The amount of transmission fluid you'd need to add after installing a transmission cooler like the Derale # D13501 really depends but typically it's around 1/2 of a quart. I wouldn't totally adhere to that figure though as the amount that spills out during the install process will vary. Best option is install the cooler with extra fluid nearby and then add as needed once the process is complete.

  • Does Derale Transmission Cooler fit 2017 Chevy Colorado
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13501 will absolutely fit your 2017 Chevy Colorado without any type of 90 degree adapters. The key is just ensuring the correct length of hose; that is a pretty open area so you will have plenty of room for installation. I have added a link to a video showing the installation of a Derale transmission cooler on a 2017 GMC Canyon - which is the same thing as a Colorado - which has the connections on the sides of the radiator so you...

  • Will a 2016 Ford Fusion SE Tow a 1,100 Lb Trailer
I cannot recommend that you tow a 1,100 lb trailer with your 2016 Ford Fusion SE that has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 lbs for liability reasons but in all honesty, you would most likely be just fine. Personally, I wouldn't really be concerned with towing over capacity by only 100 lbs. I would just avoid hilly areas if at all possible. In order to tow a trailer with your Fusion you will need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. Also, if you will be...

  • Recommended Transmission Coolers for 2012 Chevy Traverse Pulling 3700 lb Camper
Towing in mountainous areas can be hard on a transmission, so installing a cooler is an inexpensive way to provide protection. The most efficient place to install a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and A/C condenser. We recommend measuring the available space in this area, and then choosing the largest transmission cooler that will fit. The # D13501 is a great choice, but if you have the available space, I would go with the # D13502 which measures...

I did some research on your 2020 Toyota Highlander L, and it looks like your vehicle is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds. With this tow capacity, you will be able to safely tow without the need of a transmission cooler for your 4,000 pound trailer. • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler on a 2007 Nissan Frontier be Bypassed
We don't have a video but I can tell you how you would bypass the factory transmission cooler in the radiator of your 2007 Nissan Frontier. There is a line running to the radiator from the transmission and another running from the radiator to the transmission (the supply and return lines). • Do I Need a Transmission Cooler for Trailer Towing with a 2017 Acura MDX?
Adding a transmission cooler to your vehicle that is towing a trailer is usually a good idea. The extra weight added by the trailer and its cargo puts additional strain on your vehicle's transmission, causing it to run hotter which will shorten the life of your transmission in the long run. For your 2017 Acura MDX, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13501. This is a Class II transmission cooler and uses turbulator plates for more efficient cooling.
