Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For A 2016 Honda Pilot
Hello Doug, thanks for reaching out. When selecting a transcooler, if you want the most effective cooling, you will want to get the largest cooler available for your vehicle. Basically more surface area means better cooling, and we do not always go by the class designation. Our best option for the 2016 Honda Pilot the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit - Class II # D12906. This cooler is 13" Wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep which is the largest we offer for your car. This comes...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2008 Honda Pilot
The main differences between the available transmission coolers is the style of the coolers and the size. There are style that are more efficient that others, and obviously the bigger the cooler the more efficient it is as well. The tube-and-fin style has a tube that carries the transmission fluid through the cooler. It is also distinguished by its turbulators, which agitate the fluid to get more of it to contact the aluminum in the tube. Aluminum fins are attached to the outside of the...

  • How to Determine How Much Fluid Should be Added After Installing Transmission Cooler
What you will want to do is check the transmission fluid level after installing the Derale part # D12906 and then add as much as needed. Most likely around a 1/2 qt would be needed but that will depend too on if you spill any fluid (most do) and how long of lines you use.

  • Best Rear Hitch Options 2016 Montana High Country 362RD 5th Wheel
You could go with the Lippert 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver for Campers and Trailers # LC730647 you were looking at, but because this only hitch has a 300-lb tongue weight rating I believe there is a better solution. I recommend going with the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Receiver # 13703 , because it has a slightly higher 350-lb tongue weight capacity. You'll want to measure the frame width on your Keystone Montana High Country 362RD to make sure that it isn't wider than 72", but as long...

  • Transmission Cooler Options For 2014 Toyota Tundra SR5 4.6L
We have class I # D13611, Class II # D12906, Class III # D12903 and Class IV # D12904 coolers for your 2014 Toyota Tundra SR5 with the 4.6L. I would suggest getting the Class IV just to get the most cooling for the purchase. They all install relatively the same so I've included an installation video to help you do it on your own!

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2012 Toyota RAV4
For your 2012 Toyota RAV4 the Derale cooler part # D12906 would be a great option. We normally recommend going with the largest cooler that will fit in front of the radiator. In the case of this cooler it measures 13" Wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" so you would need to measure the available room you have. A more efficient cooler that's a bit smaller is the part # D13503 which measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep.

  • Recommended 7-Way Connector And Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2014 Honda Odyssey
I would be happy to help you get set up with all of the components you will need to tow an ultra lite RV trailer with your 2014 Honda Odyssey. Starting with the trailer hitch receiver the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13068 is a great option which offers a maximum tongue weight rating of 350lbs and maximum trailer weight rating of 3500lbs. Keep in mind that your 2014 Honda Odyssey can only tow up to 3500lbs with 2 passengers and requires a transmission cooler to be installed. Since the...

  • 2006 Toyota RAV4 Transmission Cooler Recommendation
As long as the transmission of your 2006 Toyota RAV4 has external lines you can install a transmission cooler. If you find the radiator there should be two metal lines that run to it that would be used for the factory cooler. You can also check out the transmission, if you find lines running from it those can be used for installing a cooler. The part # D12906 is a very popular option that would work well as long as you have room for it. I actually have it on my car and it does a great...

  • Secondary Transmission Cooler For A 2000 Honda Accord V6 Needed
The best way to select the correct transmission cooler is by determining where there is enough space to mount it. The attached diagram shows the best three positions to mount the transmission cooler in order. Transmission coolers are more efficient when they receive maximum air flow. The "A" transmission cooler location in the diagram is 100% efficient so a larger transmission cooler is not needed to compensate for the loss of cooling power. My recommendation is the Derale Dyno-Cool...

  • Tips for Keeping a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado Cool While Towing a Trailer Into the Rockies
It sounds like you have really done as much as you can to ensure that your 2008 Chevrolet Colorado has the advantage while towing. I think you stated the reason without realizing it, you are going up steep inclines while towing a trailer. Even without a trailer your vehicle will experience extra heat due to the strain of driving uphill. Add to that the weight of a trailer and whatever cargo that if put into the Colorado itself and that is why you cannot go 60-65 mph safely. The most efficient...

From the research I did it looks like you will need to remove the front grill and bumper to install a transmission cooler like the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D12906. There will be 16 plastic rivets that will need to be removed. You can use a screwdriver to pop them out. Take your time getting these out so you do not break them. • Does a Transmission Cooler Need A Thermal Bypass for Sub-Freezing Weather
I have not ran into any issues where there was a thermal bypass needed for below freezing temperatures when using the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler part # D12906. There is a lot of heat generated when all of the parts get moving in there and a cool transmission is a happy transmission. I can't see the cooler over cooling the fluids to a point that there would be any negative effects. For your power steering I rarely see the need to cool it. Even when hauling a trailer you...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Acura MDX Towing a 3,750 Pound Boat and Trailer
The Class of transmission cooler you use will depend more on where you can mount it. The most efficient place is in front of the AC condenser. You could then use a Class I cooler, like # D12901. If mounted behind the condenser, I would go with a Class II like # D12906. If mounted behind the radiator I would go with a Class III like # D13502. The ideal place to mount a transmission cooler for maximum cooling efficiency is behind the grill of your 2011 Subaru Outback but in front of the radiator.
