Lightweight and Versatile Trailer is Perfect for Hauling Kayaks or Canoes

MPG596XB2 In Use

This lightweight and versatile trailer comes with padded bunks so you can transport your favorite kayaks or canoes. Because of the trailer's low-profile design, the crossbars sit only 24" off the ground. The lower crossbars provide a safe height to load heavy kayaks and help avoid unnecessary overhead lifting.

With a 6-3/4' long tongue, this trailer offers exceptional clearance during tight turns. The extended tongue also makes it easier to back up the trailer and prevent binding than trailers with shorter tongues.

MPG461B2 bottom side bunks

Heavy-duty bunks stabilize your boat and prevent movement while traveling on uneven or rough terrain. They can be adjusted to one side to install other clamp-on accessories (sold separately) and haul more gear. The bunks' durable padding prevents scuffs, scratches, or damage to your boat during transport. To prevent mold or mildew, the bunks have weather-resistant covers to repel moisture and water.

Compact, Vertical Storage

MPG595 detachable tongue

This LowMax trailer has a detachable tongue and rubber bumpers, allowing you to store the trailer vertically in your garage. Before storing in an upright position, remove the bunks from the trailer to avoid potential damage.

mpg595 pin removal

To detach the tongue, remove the metal pin and clips holding the tongue in place.

mpg595 tongue unpinned

Then, swing the tongue towards the side of the trailer until it rests on the frame. Finally, hook the safety chains around the trailer frame to secure the tongue in place.

mpg460xt rubber bumper

With a smaller footprint, you can stand the trailer upright, using the rubber bumpers attached to the rear cross member to support the trailer's weight.

Submersible LED Trailer Lights

MPG535 LED tail lights

The DOT-approved tail lights on this trailer are fully submersible, so you don't have to worry about damaging the lights when loading and unloading your boat in water. Each tail light has brake, running light, and turn signal functions, as well as side marker lights and reflectors. In addition, these LED lights last longer, burn brighter, and require less power than incandescent bulbs.

Plug-and-Play Trailer Wiring

CE48870 main harness to 4-way

The wiring for this trailer has a simple plug-and-play design, so it doesn't require any cutting or splicing to install. As you assemble the trailer, route the main wiring harness through the trailer tongue and down towards the body of the trailer. Then plug the 4-wire end of the tail light harness into the main harness.

CE48870 4-way plug

Run the wires of the tail light harness along the sides of the trailer frame and plug the individual wires into the matching wires on the side marker lights and the tail lights. The wires are color-coded so that you can easily match them up - no circuit tester is required. Once all of the wires are plugged in, use the included clips to secure the harness to the frame.

CE48870 4-way plug

When you're ready to connect the trailer to your vehicle, simply plug the trailer end of the main harness into the 4-way flat connector on your vehicle.

Leaf Spring Suspension

MPG535 leaf spring suspension

This trailer includes a leaf spring suspension system to limit road shock while you tow. A sturdy steel axle runs beneath the trailer frame. The 2 slipper springs that support the axle flex to absorb the rough motion that can occur when driving over bumpy terrain. Also, the axle, spring hangers, and tie plate are galvanized to resist rust and corrosion.

Quick and Easy Trailer Hookup

MPG535 trigger style coupler

Hooking this trailer to your vehicle is quick and easy. The trailer's coupler connects to a 2" hitch ball, and the included safety chains act as an emergency measure if the coupler accidentally disconnects from your hitch ball. A rubber coated lift handle is mounted to the coupler to provide a solid grip for lifting or maneuvering the trailer. Finally, the skid plate on the underside of the trailer tongue keeps the coupler from touching the ground.

Malone LowMax Trailer for 2 Heavy Kayaks - 7' Bunks - Detachable Tongue - 600 lbs - MAL95FR

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (10 Customer Reviews)

This lightweight trailer lets you haul 2 heavy kayaks or canoes. Padded bunks protect your boat and hold it securely in place. Detachable tongue reduces the trailer's size for compact storage. 11' Long trailer hauls boats up to 17' long.

Very nice trailer with easy assembly

Especially nice because the trailer tongue breaks down so you can store this in a shed or garage when not needed and not taking up a lot space. You do have to remove the 2 bunks and support beams to get it in a shed with a 5 foot door opening but that is easily done at various attachment points…I took it apart at a section that only required 4 bolts to be removed leaving the bunks and side crackets as a complete unit for easy reassembly. The only downfall is the directions could use a little work but if you go to etrailer and review the assembly instructions while you’re waiting on the trailer to come in. it helps when actually assembling. All in all, this is an awesome trailer for the price and it seems very sturdy as well for a 600lbs capacity trailer. As far as the bunks , the advertising description says “Malone XtraLight LowMax Trailer for 2 Kayaks - 2 Bunks - 11' Long – 600lbs” which makes it seem like the bunks are 11 foot long…they are not. If you read in the detailed description, it says the bunks are nothing more than a 2”x4”x84”. The mounting hardware is very sturdy allowing for all sorts of configuration options to fit you needs. And an added bonus, there are also 4 straps that are 15’ long included.

Review from a similar XtraLight in Trailers

Easy to assemble following the well written instructions. More substantial than I was expecting. It's worth carefully checking everything that comes in the boxes to make sure there are no missing components. Mine was missing the lighting package, but I reported this to etrailer and they got a replacement out to me very quickly. Also, the instructions indicate that the VIN sticker and paperwork are included, but these will actually be mailed to you separately by etrailer. I am using the finished trailer to mount a roof tent and make a light weight camper. etrailer's customer service is absolutely outstanding. They have real people on the phone and their follow up is first rate.

This trailer was pretty easy to put together, at first i was wondering what i got myself into and then the boxes came and i got everything out and put into groups, and then just followed the manual and now i go kayaking all the time now. its a very solid trailer and if i have to move it by hand its light enough to do. and thats alot since ive had extensive neck surgery, thats why i choose this trailer.

Review from a similar XtraLight in Trailers

Just received the trailer yesterday, it's still in 4 boxes. :) Can't wait to assemble it and start my first fishing trip with my kayak on the trailer. I promise to upload my photos of the trailer later. I absolutely wanted to highly recommend etrailer.com for its super customer service. Karen and a few other expert team members helped me with ordering. I had to cancel a wrong order which I placed by mistake. They took care of removing the order and notifying me of the cancellation. Throughout the ordering process, there was adequate communication and I was informed of what's going on. It was very pleasant to speak with Karen on the phone as well. The website of etrailer.com is obviously powered by the state-of-art technology which makes searching for products very easy and trouble free. I had very positive experience using the searching and shopping features. After the order was placed, I could check the delivery status on their website too. It even showed me a map of where the product was on route to my home address. It's just so cool and reassuring every step of the way. I must say this is by far the best online shopping experience that I have had in a very long time. Thank you, Karen and team! Thank you, etrailer.com. Will return to shop for more!!!!

Since you're planning on hauling extremely heavy kayaks, I recommend getting the bunk kit LowMax Trailer # MAL95FR and not the V- Style Kit # MAL35FR because of the weight.
