Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Wesbar 4-Pole Flat Connector w/ Jacketed Cable

Hey, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the west bar jacketed four pole trailer connection. So the one that we have right here is about 14 foot in length, but we're also gonna have a 10 foot, an eight foot and a four foot. It's all gonna have a 14 gauge wire on the inside. And the diameter of this jacket is gonna be about 0.4 of an inch. So now all of these trailer wearings come with jackets.

This is just gonna look a little bit cleaner, but it does have a nice little shape to it. So a little bit bigger down here. So whenever you are pulling it off, one, it gives you plenty of room to be able to wrap around it. And since it's a little bit bigger here, it's gonna be kind of easier to pull it out. If you want the easiest four-pole that is the easiest to disconnect from the other side, the Hopkins has an easy pole, which just has a little circle right here.

And that's probably gonna be the only one that's a little bit easier, but it does not come with this jacket. I really like the jacket just because it's gonna protect it and looks a lot easier. And since we're using a junction box, it makes for a really, really easy and clean connection. So if you follow us down, we basically go on the inside of this tube, all the way to our junction box which is right up here by the trailer. So we're gonna have four different wires that come in here cause it's a four pole.

So if you follow me, we'll so you exactly what it looks like in the junction box, just because I like the junction boxes, they're a little bit cleaner. And if you're adding six accessories and stuff like that, it'll make a nice clean spot to be able to know exactly where everything's going. So we have the jacketed side of our trailer connection going through our junction box and we're gonna have four different wires. So we're gonna have our yellow, which is gonna be our left turn signal and our brake lights. We're gonna have our green is gonna be right.

And our brake lights, we're gonna have white, which is gonna be our ground. And then we're gonna have our brown as well, which is just gonna be your running lights, your taillights and everything else like that, including your license plate lights. So all of these kind of go in here and if you do want to grab a junction box, we do have these here at etrailer. These are just pretty much the cleanest way to wire up your trailer. The only thing that I would add to this is just a little dust cover just because it's gonna be exposed. So if you don't have a great place to put it, I mean, some people just kind of hide it underneath here, but it's not gonna be protected. So there is a dust cover specifically for this and I do recommend that you get. So now that everything's good, it is really smart to check and make sure it works before you button everything up. So we just have a little test box here. This is gonna mimic hooking up to our vehicle. So now as you can see, we do have some lights and stuff turning on. So we have everything turned on, but we're gonna test the functions. So let's start with the right turn signal. Then we're gonna go to the left. And then we want to make sure that our brake lights are working, which everything is good. So once you go through all those checks, you can button everything up and we're pretty much done with the install. If you already have your trailer and it's not really that clean when it comes to wiring and you don't really plan on putting a junction box in, all you're really gonna need to do is just grab some 14 gauge wire and some heat shrink butt connectors. And I would get some loom and we also have some loom hangers. So you're gonna run all this all the way back on the underside of your trailer, if you get on the inside of the tube, great. But a tube doesn't really work that well because it's a lot of tube, it's a lot of wire to fish through there. So you have everything that you need to hook up your trailer regardless of what kind of setup you plan on going for. Whether you go with the junction box or not, we're gonna have to run these wires back to our lights. And as you can see, we have a nice clean look. We got some loom, we got some holders. And then of course we got some lights. If you guys need lights, we've got those too, but the cleaner, the better when it comes to my trailer. So if you really want to make it nice and clean, we have everything you need to do that. All in all, I'm a fan of this one just because it has the thick little casing on the outside. And it just looks a little bit better, it matches my trailer. But if you are looking for one that's gonna be a little bit easier to pull apart, the Hopkins has one that just has a little circle on the inside, which we went over before. That one's gonna be a little bit easier, but this is pretty much checking all the boxes when it comes to trailer connections, and that is gonna do it for our look at the west bar jacketed four pole trailer connection..

This 4-wire flat, trailer-end connector includes a 4' long, jacketed cable with stripped, color-coded wires for easy installation.

by:

Delivery was quick and electeical was just what I was looking for.
Was able to mount bracket to hitch and running the wiring was easy with it all color coded.
The single sheathed trailer plug was also what I was looking for and priced below anywhere else.
Was very industrial and was almost an exact match to replace the existing one on
my triton trailer.

by:

I have been very pleased with etrailer orders recently. Everything shows up when expected and products are as expected. Attached are a couple before and after pictures of my recent project to add lights to a cargo rack per my wife's request. Thanks for the professionalism of all at trailer

by:

This is a great replacement trailer light 4-prong connector. The wires are wrapped in an insulation cover and the connection itself is rugged and well-made. This is the one to buy.

by:

Heavy duty plug that has a good snug fit and I like the jacketed cord that provides strength and extra protection.

by:

nobody does it better than etrailer.com

by:

The spring loaded connector cover on my 2014 Ram pickup was pressing so hard on my 4 prong plugs that it was breaking the conductors inside the insulation, right at the entry to the connector. I switched to using the 7 prong socket and bought a 7 - to - 4 - pole adaptor. As added insurance I added these heavy duty connectors with heavy gauge wire pigtails. Great quality on these, and a nice 4 foot pigtail clad in heavy rubber to protect from sun and other damage. Bought 2, and will be buying 4 more from etrailer for my other trailers. Fast ship from etrailer, too.

Great quality and heavy duty wire. Ive bought 6 of these and Im replacing all of my trailer plugs as time permits.

by:

This four pin harness is heavy duty and the quality is very good. I needed to upgrade the 47 year old harness on my trailer which had multiple splices and the extra length of this product was enough to get rid of the old wiring. Looks really nice and professional. And I still can not get over the customer service and promptness when dealing with etrailer.....you guys are great, keep up the good work!!! Don't forget to order the mounting clamps to complete the installation.

Been using this harness now for about a year and it has held up well.....still flexible and pins are sturdy. It is a pleasure to use compared to the old cheepo wiring that came with the trailer :

by:

Exactly as advertised fixed old connector that was worn out

by:

Just what I needed. Just went to etrailer looked it up had it in a couple of days. No stress. etrailer is the best. My go to place for anything for my trailers!

by:

Thanks guys for offering the best answer to repairing the front end of trailer wire harness with quality not just the flimsy harnesses on the open market. just wish I could find you closer.

by:

I bought this to replace the one that came on my boat trailer. This is a good quality cable and molded connector. I'm sure that if I am careful with it , that it will last for as long as i need it. I have bought a number of items from etrailer and have yet to be disappointed. Good stuff, good service.

Looks like it did when I installed it, good stuff. Much better than what came on it from the factory. Well pleased.

by:

This product is perfect for use on utility/other trailers as it is far superior and much more durable and rugged than "plain" flat four-wire, so it will hold up much better to repeated use and weather.

Installed the quality product in prep for future car tow. Insulation on cable is far superior to flat wire, which helps protect the wires in harsh environments, be it under hood for towing car as dingy, or perfectly suitable for utilityother trailers using 4-wire connections.

by:

I really cannot grade the product as I never got to use it. The trailer where the wiring harness was needed ended up being in worse condition than I thought and got recycled. As far as customer service, you were great.

by:

Replacement plug is working great. The sheath cover over the actual wires should make it last along time. Easy install with heat shrink connectors I had on hand. great product at a great price. Thank you James.

by:

Trailer connector was installed with waterproof splices. So fay every time I plug it in it works, its when I unplug it that it stops works. totally baffled by this. Will have to leave it plugged in every time I use it.

by:

Wesbar plugs are great quality. They snap together and stay connected. The pins are molded into the plug, very durable. The wire cover is heavy duty.I will definitely buy Wesbar plug harnesses again. Mike at etrailer provides great customer service. He helped me with a fender order that had the wrong picture on the web site. He reshipped the correct fender the day we spoke on the phone and rushed it to me . Thanks again Mike for your help and great customer service. That is what keeps me coming back again & again.

by:

This is a great product that I wish knew existed years ago. I have wired many trailers and the connection will last for many years due to the fact that the connector is molded into the actual harness instead of having 4-5 loose wires that seems to take a beating and break.

by:

Item was as described. Heavy duty shielded cable and wiring. Very happy with purchase and communication.

Trailer wiring cable is holding well. I would recommend this product to others

by:

I bought two of these previously and liked them so much that I bought 3 more. 16 gauge wire is way heavier than most trailer plugs/harnesses come with, plus the plugs are heavier duty and the cable is clad in heavy rubber for protection. I would buy more but I only have 5 trailers at the moment.

by:

Perfect in every respect. Integrated into a Honda Civic wiring harness for Break llight, LT, RT, and running lights.

by:

High-quality piece. I chose this connector over the cheaper alternatives because it looked sturdy and the wires are covered. Due to the condition of the previous connector the covered wires for my boat trailer were the way to go. I was able to install this with no problems and it works great! Also, the length was a big upside and I can make left turns with the trailer without worrying that the connector is going to pull out!

by:

cheap wires keep breaking and giving you grief,, very pleased with this one, well built.

by:

Etrailer does it again! They sold me an excellent cable and shipped it in record time. Couldn't be more happy with this purchase. The cable's quality is top notch and exactly as described. The plug end seems to be molded closed without any chance of water intrusion. The other end has been stripped without any damage to the inside cables.

by:

Quality of trailer wire connecter was beyond expectancy. I'll be buying all my boat trailer items from you! Note-my boat-buddy is working fine, thanks for helping me with my orders, and your friendly personality Emily. The super fast delivery is
greatly appreciated too!

  • Is There a Trailer Side 4-Round to 4-Flat Adapter
So I know the wiring harness you're describing, the 4-round, and there isn't an adapter to get it to go to a 4-flat. That's okay though because there is a really simple solution. What you can do is just cut off your round 4-way and add a standard, trailer side 4-flat, part # W787264. All you'd need to do is connect the wires with butt connectors # 05731-5. I've added links below to a couple help articles for you to check out as well on wiring which may be useful.
