Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension for 21" SuperTruss Hitch Extender

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Torque lift line of wiring harness extensions for use with the super truck hitch extenders. These are available in several different lengths. Just depending on how long that hitch extender that you're using is going to be. This is Torque's Lifts 36" extension that matches their 36" super stress. If you're going with the longer super truss, get the longer. If you're going with the shorter, get the shorter. Really a nice option to where you can plug it right into the back of your vehicle, bring your power down to where it's right here, readily available and accessible for you to get to. What we're going to do is take our, what looks like a trailer plug end, we're going to pass it through our bracket.

It's just flexible enough we can kind of bend that bracket so allow it to come through. Then here's what we want, that's our 7 pole connector. We're going to be bale to hook our trailer up right here. We've got the nice safety chain connections there an then also our wiring connection. Slide that in.

We're pass our screw through the face there and then just put our nuts on the back. Now, the hardware's not provided so you'll need some hardware to pass through there. You can see our bracket's kind of got the oblong holes to make it to where it'll fit a lot of different style harnesses. I'm going to put a flat washer on to give our nut a good surface to bite to when we tighten it down. Now we can go ahead and tighten those down as well. At that point, we're mounted on, got a nice secure connection point.

We can basically just plug this right into the back of our truck. You don't want this to be hanging down underneath our hitch where it might drag or something like that. That will complete today's look at the Torque Lift wiring harness extensions for the super truck hitch extender.

Still working great!

Just looking at the product picture it does not look solid wiring.
looks wrinkled up.
I received 7 prong connector yesterday and didn't fit one end to the my car was fine
but trailer to male connector did not.
the way it was put together impossible to hook together.
Nice people at etrailer sending me another one to try.
I hope i just got defective one.
I was happy it was made in USA !

by:

Plugged it in and right tail light stayed on no matter what I did. Took the covers off to check the wiring and found 1 strand of black wire touching the brown post. Apparently no testing was done on the product after it was built otherwise it solved my problem of a short cable.

by:

I've had the opportunity to shop etrailer three times. Once we needed a specialized cable in a short period of time. They have an extensive selection and they have excellent service. The cable I mentioned was rushed and arrived in time for us to leave on a camping trip. I find their prices competitive and they keep you posted on the status of your order. Excellent site for shopping.

by:

Excellent products, superior customer service from Wayne and everyone at etrailer.

by:

Received quickly but the box was showing signs that a struggle had taken place and the box lost. Upon opening the boxes I found that several pieces from the installation kit were missing, I called and an entire new installation kit was quickly shipped to me. Installation was easy and I have been very happy with the customer service.

by:

Exactly what I ordered, just what we ne eded.

  • Are The Lengths of the TorkLift Cannon Extensions The Overall Length or the Extension Length
The TorkLift Hitch Extensions are going to be measured for the extension from hitch pin hole to hitch pin hole. • Recommended Trailer Hitch With Extension For 2007 Chevrolet Silverado With Camper Installed
I recommend the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # TLC1205 for your Silverado if you have an 8-ft bed on your truck. If you have a 6-1/2 ft bed the hitch I recommend is part # TLC1204. As far as the extension you will need to measure the distance from the hitch pin hole to the end of the camper to see what length extension you will need. We offer different length extensions like part # TLE1524 for a 24 inch extension. For a 32 inch extension I recommend part...

  • Recommended Hitch Extension For Trailer Towing With a 2019 Ford F-250 Carrying a Truck Camper
I recommend using the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer # C45048 as it will fit better with the 2-1/2" factory receiver on your 2019 Ford F-250. The Hitch Box Extension and Reducer # RP45292 is designed to be used with the Reese Titan 2-1/2" receivers. As the shape of this receiver can alter slightly with sharper edges it does not always fit a stock receiver properly. The Curt # C45048 at the 24" length is rated for a trailer up to 6,000lbs with a tongue weight up to 600lbs. This will allow...

  • 7-Way Extension for Towing Food Truck with 2003 Ford Expedition
Thanks for the picture of the trailer wiring connector you have. Based on that you are in need of a 7-way blade extension like the part # C56080 for a 7 foot long extension or part # HM20049 for an 8 foot long extension. Or if you are looking for something shorter you'd want the part # TLW6024 which is 24 inches long.

  • Can TorkLift Wiring Extensions for SuperTruss Hitch Extenders Be Shortened
You could cut and resplice the # TLW6532 7-way wiring harness extension to shorten it, but I'd personally be leery about that as the splices could possibly be vulnerable to the elements and corrosion. The best practice would be to get a harness in the correct length so you don't need to cut it up. TorkLift offers the extensions in the following lengths: • 24 inch, part # TLW6024 • 28 inch, part # TLW6028 • 32 inch, part # TLW6032 • 36 inch, part # TLW6036 • 42 inch, part # TLW6042 • 48...

  • Recommended Replacement 7-Way Extension Harness for a 2022 Airstream Flying Cloud
Hey Bill, the minimum wire size for a 7-way trailer plug is going to be 16 gauge for the turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, and running light wires, and the suggested minimum for the ground, brake power, and battery hot lead wires is 12 gauge. So the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension for 24" SuperTruss Hitch Extender # TLW6024 is going to be a mix of both 16 AWG and 12 AWG. This is going to be pretty much standard across the board no matter what brand you choose to go with. With...

  • Recommended 24 Inch Hitch Extender for a 3 Inch Receiver
I have a hitch extension that will work with a weight distribution system but it is 24" long and there aren't any shorter ones. First you are going to have to use the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve item # C85JR to get your 3" receiver down to a 2-1/2"one. Then you will want the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer item # C45048. It comes in a 34" extension but you can trim it down to 24". This combination will give you a 8,000 lbs towing capacity when used with a weight distribution system....

It is possible to use a a female 7-way plug on the trailer if you wanted to using part # 30717 and then using an adapter Bargman 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector - Double-Ended part # 50-67-210 to connect the two plugs. • Is There a 2-1/2" Hitch Extension At Least 14" Long For Towing a 7,500LB Trailer?

To tow your 7,500lb trailer you would have to cut it to the 24" length and also have a Weight Distribution Hitch # FA92-00-0800 and a Wiring Extension # TLW6024.

  • Solution to Extend Weight Distribution Hitch Away From Truck to Allow Tail Gate to Open
The Blue Ox # BXW4000 will give you roughly 10 inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin to the mounts on the shank, so you'll want to measure how much more clearance you need to actually clear the tailgate; in some cases it might be enough. Your best bet is going to be to measure to find out exactly how much more you need compared to the original shank and then we can determine if there is a solution available. A big part of your problem is that the Tekonsha Prodigy RF is designed to be mounted to your trailer.
