Video Transcript for Spectro 2 Wire Loop Review and Installation

Hi they do it yourselfers, today we're going to be taking a look at Spectro's 2 Wire Loop. This 2 Wire Loop will allow you to add a quick connect to any of your accessories that require two wires on your trailer. If you look at our ends here, the male exposed end on the connectors on one of them is connecting to our brown wire, and on the other is connected to our red wire. You can cut this harness in half, and then wire one end up on your trailer side, and then wire the other end up on your accessory, so that way when you plug them together, as you see here when we go to plug them together, that our wires match up red to red, brown to brown. So we're going to go ahead and wire it up now. We've got a couple of different lights here, so this way we can easily disconnect our light assemblies in case we have any damage that occurs to them, like we back up into something on accident. But you'll see here that on one light, we've just got bare wires, so we can cut it in half, wire one into our trailer, the other into our light.

But our other light here, sometimes you get lights that already have this style of connector on it. So what we can do is we can cut this in half and wire one side up to our trailer, and you could use the other side on the other side of your trailer, but you do want to keep in mind that if you we're to do that, that on one side the wire colors would be opposite.Let's go ahead and get this wired up now, and we'll show you how it works. We're going to start by cutting it in half. We're then going to wire up one end to our trailer. So we've got our brown wire, which is our tail lights, and our yellow wire here, which is our left turn and stoplight.

So what we're going to do, since we're going to be using it with this light here that has a pre-existing wire, the red wire on it is the stop, and the black wire on the light is the tail. So we want to make sure that our exposed male connector is the red wire, so that way it'll plug into this red wire.So we're going to be using this end here, we'll strip back the ends on our trailer as well as the M's on our plug, then we're going to use some heatshrink butt connectors to connect the two together. I recommend that you use heatshrink butt connectors since this is exposed on the outside. This will keep moisture from entering in the connector, ensuring a long lasting connection and preventing against corrosion. So we're going to take one end of our butt connector and wire it to the trailer side, and then on the other side of our butt connector, since we chose the brown wire, we're going to be using the brown wire from our new harness, And then our other two wires here, we're going to crimp those together. When wiring these up, the big thing to remember is that you keep track of your wire colors and their functions, because as you can see here, your wire color on your new harness may not match that of the wire on your trailer, or the accessory that you're going to be connecting it to.

We'll now heatshrink down our butt connectors. We can now take our harness that's newly wired in and plug it into our accessory, which is going to be our light here. Now our light does have an additional wire we're going to need to connect, it's a ground wire, so that just goes on a stud. So I'm going to go ahead and finish getting our lights mounted up now, and then get this ground wire attached. Now with our light fully mounted up and our ground wire connected, I plugged in our tester, and we can see everything's working properly here. Adding a quick connect harness like this is particularly useful if you had accessories that you may need to replace often.

Your breakaway switch is a great example, because you should check your breakaway switch for your braking system on your trailer every year. And it's not uncommon in a year's amount of time for your breakaway switch to experience some corrosion or internal damage on the inside and not function properly. So if it's something you're constantly replacing, you can quickly just connect it and add a new one right in.For our light here, if we we're to back up and cause any damage to the light and we needed to replace it, we wouldn't even need any strippers or crimpers or have to do any wiring, we could simply just pull our light off, disconnect it, unhook the ground, which hooks up with a ring terminal, so that uses a screw, take our new light and just put it back on, no wiring involved. Now when you are buying replacement parts to plug in your new light, or anything, you want to check to make sure that that light does have this connector. Breakaway switches, lights, and many other accessories are available that come with this type of connector on it so it can be quickly plugged into your trailer. This is also great for things that you may want to frequently take on and off of your trailer. You can make your own little harness by wiring up one end of the accessory and the other end of your trailer. Whenever you want to take it off just click boom, throw it in your truck, and whenever you want to use it again, plug it right back in. And that completes our look at the Spectro's 2 Wire Loop.

TRhese are Great! I used 2 to extend the line between the solar trickle charger and battery on motorized boat lift. Also during the winter to keep the battery charged with a smaller panel on a garage window sill.Just pay attention to the conveniently color-coded wires to maintain proper polarity

I needed two 12v leads to add backup lights to my trailer. Works great. Very tight connection. I cut it in half and connected one side to my trailers left and right backup lights and the other end to my truck.

Hard to find 2 terminal plugs except to cut them off an old wiring harness. Thanks for carrying them!

This adapter worked great to wire up a license plate light on my cargo carrier.

Excellent adapter…I cut it half to use with my removable removable fenders being I mounted some extra tail lights on them for more visibility, worked out great!

Thank you, your website made it easy to find several items that i was looking for and delivery was quick.

  • Proper Wiring of a Hitch-Cover Brake Light so it Does Not Blink when Turn Signal is Activated
If you want your hitch cover brake light to only work with the brake lights, I would recommend that you use a 2 Wire Loop, item # 9651P, to make a separate connector for your brake light hitch cover. Then run the white wire to ground and splice the red wire to the third brake light circuit which does not blink when the brakes are applied and the turn signals are activated. You will have a separate two wire connector for the hitch cover with this setup. At this time I do not know of any...

  • Wiring a Backup Camera to be able to Move it from The Truck to the Trailer
Typically, on a factory installed 7-Way, the center pin is for reverse lights. If there is not a wire in the center pin on the trailer side connector, you can add one and run it all the way back. I would purchase a couple of 2 Loops with connectors, part # 9651P. You can use these connectors to provide a quick and easy way of disconnecting the camera system to move it from the truck to the trailer. Depending on the camera system, you may only need the two wires, one for ground and one...

  • License Plate Bracket Recccommendation For Trailer Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier
The legality of an obscured rear license plate varies from state to state. If you want to heed the letter of the law, the plate can be relocated to the rear of the cargo carrier. We sell quite a few cargo carriers, and to be honest, it is really not that much of an issue. You could zip tie the plate to your carrier, or use a bracket with a light like part # LPL55CB (In most states, the rear license plate is required to be lit after dark). If your vehicle has a trailer connector, you...

  • How to Wire Illuminated License Plate Holder to Trailer Connector
To wire an illuminated license plate holder such as the Optronics LED # LPL55CB, you can simply splice into the running light circuit and ground wire from the trailer connector. I recommend using the 2 Wire Loop # 9651P to make these connections. This will allow for a quick and easy disconnect when you are not using the cargo carrier/rack on your trailer hitch. I have attached a couple of short video demonstrations on these products for you to check out.

  • License Plate Bracket for Cargo Carrier When It's Down For Use and Up For Storage
I do have a potential solution for you, however we don't have a folding license plate holder available that you could use in different orientations, whether your hitch-mounted carrier is down for use or folded up against the rear of the vehicle. The best option I can offer is to simply use a single license plate bracket like the Optronics # LPL55CB. You can use some wing nuts, washers, and bolts for mounting that let you easily move the bracket/plate when needed. You would drill a couple...

If your battery tender's cord uses this type of connector then it will plug in and function but you'll want to keep in mind that the added 25-feet of wiring will cause some voltage drop. If you happen to have a set of heavy gauge jumper cables around, something like the...

I would recommended checking with your local law enforcement or state highway patrol because laws and regulations vary from state to state. In order to make this work you are going to need to use your 4-way like you are doing right now. • How To Wire Light Bar On Trailer With Switch In Vehicle
You can definitely install a light bar on your trailer and control it with a switch in your truck.
