Hot garbage. Terrible design that I'm stuck with because my trailer tongue is drilled for this plug shape and dimensions. If you look at the pics, the screws are at the back of the wire connector so the wires must be inserted at a 90° angle to the plug. If you tighten too much, you'll start shearing off strands of your wire. I ended up spending a couple of hours soldering in my wires through the screw threads and it's still a shakey looking affair. If you're options allow for literally any other design, don't buy this thing.

by:

as far as small 5 pin round plugs go, this one's better than others as the terminals are less likely to short against the housing like I've had before. I prefer the 5 flat myself but have two trailers for the bike both done this way, so I stayed with the round.

by:

This product is poor design and quality is just not there , the wire holders in the back are so close together and tiny plus wire goes in at 90 degree . I read the reviews before I purchased it I thought it can’t be that bad , but I was wrong won’t be using it pollak used to be a good brand .

by:

The only place that I was able to find the 5 pole round pin, everything is flat pin which made it difficult to locate. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Thank you

by:

Nice product. Proper di-cast with chrome finish...not the cheapy plastic one this replaced. I prefer this to the flat-4 plug, because the flat-4 can't really be secured the the vehicle, and most of the time thay are run out the truck over the bumper. I didn't want to risk scuffing the painted bumper cover, plus I have a 3rd brake light on my trailer, which requires a dedicated brake light wire. I installed this on a 2006 WRX and a 1990 Mustang (1 trailer, 2 cars that tow it)

by:

I purchased the male 5 pin connector on my pull behind motorcycle trailer and the female on my 2008 Harley Davidson. They were the perfect purchase for my application.
Thank you.

by:

I purchased both pieces and got the fifth that I was looking for for my motorcycle. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to wire the motorcycle to pull a trailer.

by:

This item is very high quality and protects against weather conditions when not in use. When the female mate is connected, the protective cover on this unit provides a catch to prevent the connection from separating. This item will mount on the rear of my 2010 Honda Goldwing and provide an electrical interface from my Goldwing to my Bushtec trailer for running, brake, & turn lights, to include interior trailer lights. Keep up the good work etrailer!!

Much better than expected as the finish on the connector is completely free of rust, discoloration, or other imperfections associated with open road use items.. Of course the connector is mounted is a area that is subjected to water, rocks, dust and dirt, however I have not had any problems visually or electrically since installation. Mating of the connectors are still snug with perfectly clean electrical contacts.

by:

It's working very well.

by:

The trailer connector socket was exactly as described. It worked well. I had to buy some brackets from etrailer to mount it to my Tri-Glide. Those worked well also.

Did the receptacle have a mounting bracket?

The receptacle and mounting bracket are a one-piece unit. The two holes on either side of the socket door can be used with bolts or self-tapping screws to secure the socket to the vehicle. If you need to mount it a bit differently you can purchase different bracket separately like part HM48605.

After a year the socket is still working great. It is nice and tight, no fear of it coming lose. Great product.

by:

Was as advertised

by:

Professional, timely, and reasonable pricing. Would not hesitate to deal with them again.

by:

Backup for the new plug I ordered.

by:

I've had the receptacle and plug version of this installed between a homemade truckbed trailer and my older toyota truck for several years and it works great, good connection, and easy to install. I went with the 5 conductors as all I needed were left/right signals, brake and running lights. I drive offroad a lot with the trailer without problems. I just received my second order, for an additional trailer, and the plug is really tight, thanks to the conductors being slightly too spread. I'll have to pinch the pins a bit to loosen the fit - easy enough. Otherwise it'd be 5 stars!

by:

Appears to be very well constructed. Only thing that I think could be improved is that it doesn't have a waterproof cover on it. That is easy enough to remedy though by simply using some terminal grease on the contacts to protect them from the weather. I am not mounting this on a vehicle myself, I am building a box for testing trailer wiring and lights. I am trying to include as many of the different types of trailer connectors that are commonly seen on trailers in my area.

by:

This product is not in use at this time. It is a different approach to a rollback wrecker issue with marker lights down the side of the rollback. Original set up was to run 11000 miles of wire so that the rollback could rollback without connecting and disconnecting a plug...The issue was the wire broke down because of all the movement then causing lighting problems ALL the time. Removing all that wire and making only one simple connection eliminated the wire and movement. So the only repair that may be needed is readily accessible. The action needed then was to disconnect the connection before rolling the wrecker back and to.

by:

Male and female plug-in works great

by:

I recently purchased a compact trailer to tow behind my touring motorcyle. I also wanted to be able to tow it behind my car. This 5 pin connector will allow me to do that. It is of good quality and was delivered quickly. It is a specialty item that I could not find locally. I would definitely purchase from etrailer again.

by:

Product came quickly and in good order. It was for the most part what I expected. the old one, however, had a plastic inner seal to protect the wires from touching the inside of the product. This one did not . It would be an improvement to have this feature. Total install not yet complete. Will see how it all works when it is all wired up.

Got it working fine but have not used it for trips yet. Still have to test it on a trip

by:

Quality made product that was easy to add to my motorcycle wiring. Works very well with the mating plug on my trailer. Very happy with price, delivery time, and simplicity.

by:

I am impressed with this company. When I placed my order I had instant communication until it was delivered which was quick too I might add. I just installed this in place of the 5 pin flat hookup I had for my boat trailer and I am very satisfied. I got tired of having to tie the connectors together and worry about them every trip I took. Thanks for good service and good products

by:

Excellent product. I had difficulty finding a 5 pin connector locally. When I found this product on the internet I ordered it immediately and am delighted with it. I can't believe how inexpensive it is. Could have paid 10 times as much for a competitor's model but this one works just dandy for me. Even if I had to replace it every year, which I know I won't have to do, I would still be way ahead. The service provided by etrailer was exceptional. These guys are at the top of my list for future orders!

Thanks

by:

PK11502 matched up perfectly with the other half of the 5 pin connection on the trailer. I used a shrink sleeve and some weatherproof silicone tape to make the connection weatherproof.

by:

Worked great for the application for my cycle trailer.
Order and shipping was easy and timely.

by:

The pins were too big by a little bit. Had to force the female plug into the socket

  • Parts Needed To Connect a 5-Pin To a 6-Pin Trailer Connector
It sounds like you need to go from the 6-Pole, Round Pin Connector # PK11604 to a 5-Pole, Round Pin Socket # PK11502. This would require making an adapter using the 6-Pole, Round Pin Socket # PK12720 and 5-Pole, Round Pin Connector # PK11501. If I have this backwards then just use the other parts listed above. It gets confusing with these connectors since you have male connectors inside a female connector so you never really know which one they are referring too. You can use some of the...

  • How to Power an Electric Winch on a Trailer Pulled By a 2017 Subaru Forester
You do have a few options to get an electric winch, like the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm # TW4015, working, but the 4 Flat will not be able to do so alone. The first will be to add a battery to the trailer. This will usually be my suggestion, but as you do not have brakes on the trailer and it is for a boat trailer, it will not be the best way to go. What I suggest doing is upping your 4 Flat to a 5 Round, both on the trailer and vehicle. The Pollak 5-Pole # PK11502 for the vehicle side,...
